Name: Zane
Class: Myrmidon
Dragon Element:
Age: 16
Born in: Laus, Lycia
Appearance: Zane has tan skin and black hair that contrasts with his blue eyes. He stands at 5ft 8 with a lankiness that speaks to his future height once he gets older. His hair is silky and usually a stylized mess except for a small braid he wears just behind his left ear. Something his mother taught him to do.
His body is lithe and thin but strong. A combination of the rigorous dance that his mother taught him to do and the strength training under sword combat from his father. This in combination with his naturally effeminate features causes him grief from other mercenaries.
His clothing consists of varying degrees of black. His shirt is tight fitting, sleeveless, and covers only down to just below his rib cage leaving his stomach exposed. His arms are covered by half-gloves that rise to his elbows and matching metal armlets just above that.
His trousers are far more traditional and tucked into buckled boots. He however wears crossed belts. One for his pants and another to carry his scabbard.
His sword was made in the Sacaean style, that is to say a katana. The wrapping of the hilt is red with a silver pommel.
Personality: Zane is an outgoing optimist at the best of times, and just an optimist at the worst of them. He is extremely driven by a desire to prove himself to his father and the guild his father leads. Many of the guild members look at Zane and see a bright future if he should inherit it while others see him as an unproven brat.
Zane is easily excitable and always ready for action and a chance to use his blade. He has not yet killed a man and thus he is constantly chided for his eagerness getting called a foolish boy.
As a boy, until he was 13, he lived with his mother traveling the continent dancing. He learned to quickly make friends with a charming personality and forget about them just as quickly. This has its perks when doing business but he's garnered a reputation for being fickle.
His travels have given him a relatively deep understanding of the world even at his young age though none would call him experienced or wise. He is extremely uncomfortable staying in a single place for long periods of time.
With his friends Zane is the sort to drag them around and draw them into an adventure. He can also become a chatterbox. He is actually much the same with his enemies trying to win over hearts and minds. In matters of love he uses his natural charm to get close to people but is wary of actually falling for others. You could say he is a natural advisor.
Not having experienced actual life or death combat he tends to take fighting light-heatedly. This too gets him chided by his seniors and father. His style is a cross of light, dance-like footwork and the more practical skills ingrained by his father over the last three years.
History: Zane was born to his father Eric, the leader of the Lightning Wolves mercenary guild, and Persephone a dancer from Laus. The romance between his parents has been a long lasting one as the two both love one another deeply but this has not prevented complications. The two have remained unwed as neither of them have ever stayed in a single place long enough to do so. The two also go long periods of time without seeing one another between mercenary work and Persephone traveling with her dance.
These things led to Zane having an extremely unconventional life. He rarely saw his father and didn't get to know him well. He was more of a distant figure he was told he should be like. He spent most of his time with his mother helping her and learning the art of dance and seduction. His seduction skills are questionable however with a mediocre success rate.
When he turned 13 a previously unspoken agreement between his mother and father came to light. That was that he would be turned over to his father's care. He questioned the decision with low enthusiasm for it but when he arrived he was soon bombarded by another mercenary child named Trenton demanding they be friends. It was then he decided that it shouldn't be too bad.
As the son of Eric he was loaded with work and lessons in tactics, combat, and terrain alike. He was rubbish with the sword for the longest time, not one to stand his ground but with patience they found a style that could work well for him. A great deal of it is self-taught as he incorporates the dance he knows far better but good fundamentals were equally beaten into him.
It wasn't long into his time there that Trenton requested to learn what Zane learned about the sword. Not thinking twice Zane opted to teach him but soon realized why he was not a fighter. With an impromptu haircut Zane denied him further lessons.
Less than a month later Trenton saw Zane dancing in private and asked to learn. Zane was naturally hesitant but didn't think he could get killed just dancing and accepted. Trenton lacked much of the grace or flexibility required for it but overtime he impressed Zane.
Zane has not been allowed to participate in any of the guild's missions but he has tried to follow to no avail in the past, instead forced to leave and watch the camp. He should soon be permitted to join them now that he is 16.
NPC fight: Alt
PC fight: "Hey Trent, are you sure about this?" Zane held his training blade over his shoulders as he stretched. "I'm not too worried about hurting you, but I don't want to get hit by some massive light blast." When Zane thought about it more he wasn't actually worried about it and was more curious if Trent could even manage to unleash any magic in the first place. Well, he was determined and used all of his money on that book, so he ought to give him his all and make it real.
Lowering the training blade to his side Zane shifted his stance between his feet keeping ready to move at a moment's notice. He didn't like duels with magic, they usually hurt for him so he thought to end it quickly. Rushing Trenton he moved to thrust the blade toward his throat but feint it into a downward strike at his book. He wasn't sure how quickly Trent could cast but it would be fun for him.
