Name: Hugo Coldwind
Class: Wyvern Rider
Dragon Element: Ice
Age: 18 (Lies about his age often claims he is 21)
Born in: Bern; City of Larguz
Appearance: Hugo; despite being raised with a silver spoon in his mouth doesn’t seem to possess pristine and pure white skin. Matter of factlly his appearance is rather rough, rugged, and possibly even scarred to a certain degree. His hair is a rather dark red maybe closer to a brick-like brown allowed to flow freely on top of his head like a shaggy spiky mane. The gaze he often sports is focused, prickly, and serious, but it shows a degree of curiosity and wonder when the young man is daydreaming. Rather brawny if not bulky Hugo stands at a tall 6’0” ft which he constantly uses as proof or excuse when someone comments on his skills or just tries to pry the truth of his age further. Hugo is known among the people in his town as “The Scaled Hound” the nickname is often interchangeably an insult or a term of endearment. Commonly seen in his custom designed Wyvern Rider Armor that is a mixture of silver, pale red, and firm gray. When not in a combat situation is commonly seen wearing a nice white dress shirt, black dress pants, crimson vest finished with a silver tie and black gloves that seem to hold a signet symbol of Larguz’s Prestigious Wyvern Academy.
Personality: Hugo is a very idealistic and stubborn individual it isn’t uncommon to find him disobeying specifically small orders to fulfill his immature view on what a Defender should be. This is often a surprise to those who meet him the first time, mostly because Hugo is quite reserved with his feelings and doesn’t have a typical spunky demeanor that is too be expected of a young idealist. Despite that Hugo often likes to make excuses as to why certain things happen and is even a little preachy when it comes to wisdom he has supposedly gained through his experiences. Actually rather easily influenced Hugo often spends time asking around for advice, and is often found regurgitating them in situation he believes fit them properly he has the decency to not claim the advice as his own thankfully. Still despite his mistakes Hugo is a skilled young man who wants to find the best in others and ensure that they at least have a chance to reach that peak, even if he has to charge through the most horrible situations head first and somehow pull ahead just merely under the alias of a “True Defender”.
History: Hugo is the youngest son to Felix Coldwind; a rather skilled doctor, and Lyra Coldwind a merchant’s daughter so money was never an issue for the Coldwind's. Due to this fortunate lot in life the children of the house were often supported to take up their dreams along with the funds necessary to do so. The Eldest Mary Coldwind became a renowned artist, The Middle Child David Coldwind trained to be a Doctor alongside his father, and Hugo decided that he wanted to protect the weak just to one up his father and older brother. As you can see the brazen wish to be a fantasy soldier started early. Felix often blamed it on his wife constantly reading Fairy Tales of an order of Wardens that guarded the realm from dangers that desired to corrupt and destroy the land they hailed from. Still Lyra no matter what could never bring herself to tell her son that soldiers and warriors weren’t exactly all glitz and glamour.
No, Hugo had to learn such a truth later in life when he had already signed himself off to be a wyvern squire for the Bern Military. The Dragon Knight named Ezekiel was the boy's first assigned instructor and Ezekiel was a rather stern teacher who always demanded detailed descriptions of the basics to be memorized as a base line alongside the history of the Bern Military. Hugo not only had to learn how to fight properly, but also how to tend to wyverns properly, alongside sudden verbal pop quizzes and surprise attacks. This wasn’t the teacher student experience he was expecting, but Hugo was not a child who complained he was a child who adapted. He had too much pride to even think of giving up when he had made it into an actual classroom and was already starting to train with a mount of his own. Revgor was a young wyvern who was uncharacteristically shy for the species, but Hugo decided that if he was going to be an effective and positive influence he would need to help even the most closed off people see how strong they could be.
Needless to say due to the almost hellish tutelage it was no surprise Hugo passed his exams with flying colors. He even reaching near the top of his class in the practical exams that is. See Revgor in their time together had become quite the decent actor and was able to properly pull off the intimidating presence of a warrior wyvern, but it seemed to only work on fellow recruit level mounts or prey. The older more skilled Wyverns could easily see through the young duo’s facade and it was more or less considered barely passing the physical exam. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. Because not long after Hugo was considered a graduate talks of the rebellion struck the "secure and impenetrable" walls of Bern yet again. Now the young rider was stuck having to help defend the land against the people he swore to defend which was maddening. Still he had a duty and an honor as a trained soldier for Bern Military he can only offer little help to those in need when the rebellion was at its peak like helping citezens who didn't leave immediately evacuate or claiming the canon he was manning was misfiring. After it was all said and done Hugo was able to return to doing what he believed was right by switching teams and helped the rebell forces with what little he could do in a fight physically. With the rebellion arriving victorious Hugo was allowed to stay in Bern due to the testimony of how many people he helped that day. Even so today young man can still be found trying to help anyone he can almost obsessively so. Maybe he still feelings guilty or maybe he feels like he hasn't earned the peoples trust back just yet, but the fact of the matter is Hugo is going to do his best to protect the people from now on.
NPC fight: Hugo quickly got into the stance that was hammered into his head a thousand times over with little to no frivolous movement. After all energy wasted could be the difference between life or death. "Alright Revgor let's pierce their facade"! Hugo howled as did the young sea green wyvern who seemed to bare its fangs in a more vicious manner. With that they young strong headed duo charged hoping to do as much damage as possible with a single air piercing thrust.
The knight who had offered to train with the Scaled Duo effortlessly moved their large shield in front of the already announced lance. This wasn't due to Hugo stating his intentions, but more just standard knight training. Which essentially boiled down too "You have a lot of armor use it to block". Simple, but effective nonetheless as far as melee fights go, especially since lances were by far the easiest thing to block. The lance while connecting with the shield and even pushing the knight back just a little it was clear Hugo would have to actually try and find the soft spot on this turtle to actually do anything.
