Hello, all! I am looking for someone to write with. I play Ascher - a wind mage from Bern. Male. Mid-thirties. Not too terribly fond of war, while recognizing that sometimes violence is regrettably necessary. I've linked his profile here; feel free to peruse it if you'd like. He's got nothing to hide - all of that would be easily found, if you obtained his military records and asked around Lucerne. Please PM me or simply tag me in a post below, if you are interested. I generally try to match the post size and speed of those with whom I am writing, but my default setting is between 500 and 1000 words two or three times a week. More, if I really get into the scene and have the time on my hands. If you'd like a better idea of my writing style, take a look at this post in his first solo thread. I look forward to writing with all of you!

Bern. Check. Lucerne. Check. Military connections. Double check.
Aria is avalible for a simple rp. She's a wyvern rider from Lucerne. The only daughter out of a family of 4. Her family runs a wyvern farm. And her eldest brother is either a captain or a Sargent (can't remember which since its been a while) stationed in Bern, capital. Second oldest is a priest living in a monestary. Third oldest is a farm hand fluent in horseback.
Aria herself was once a potential solider but the day of her offical inauguration, the rebellion army attacked. And she was left in limbo.
To support her family she does deliveries with her big red wyvern Chewy. Other odd jobs include guard work. Monster fighting. Waitress. Singing. (It costs money to keep a wyvern fed and groomed) She's a decent fighter and very hardy.

Aria sounds lovely! Her delivery service, in particular, could make for an interesting starting point. You see, Ascher only just moved to Bern's capitol after the rebellion - so most of his furnishings and property are still in Lucerne (if the Ilians left it unlooted) and its surrounding environs (for the things that the family/Resistance managed to get out of the city after Bern Keep fell). Being able to airlift some of the stuff out of there would be incredibly helpful to him. Ascher has some gold squirreled away that he'd be willing to spend on getting his stuff. That'd give us the opportunity to take the RP whatever direction naturally develops - whether that be friendly conversationalists, reluctant business associates, or targets of a surprise bandit attack. What are your thoughts?

All of the above sounds good by me. Furniture might take some trips. But important things like books, documents, and other miscellaneous stuff could work. Chewy accepts tips in Jerky and Meats.

I don't have many characters active in Bern or at all these days, but if you're looking to do another one on one; Althea is also a magic user; she has absolutely no interest in politics or war but is gradually growing more interested in Anime Anima magic, and as someone who has done a lot of magic fighting but considers herself a scholar, would be open to discussing or learning more about magic in some way shape or form. She's pretty muted in terms of outward emotion and not amazing with people, but is polite and... working on getting better with people. Ereshkigal is the spirit Althea shares a body with and occasionally takes over, and also an option. Highly emotional and exceedingly friendly, she's a little on the dumb side and lacking in common sense. She'd be much easier than Althea to strike up a conversation with and is fascinated by human culture, other forms of magic, and war. Kinda self centered and a bit bratty, she's definitely a sheltered child. Nayru's profile is hilariously outdated, but she's a teenage/young adult-ish dragon struggling to live up to her ideals. Good natured and well meaning she'd likely be easy to get along with, and she definitely had more sympathy for the rebellion than Ilia, but stays out of human wars. These days she spends a lot of time as a monster hunter while hoping Elibe's people can figure out their problems themselves, but is an avid connoisseur of food and history (which she remembers most of), despite not knowing that much about human magic, so she's got a lot of potential interactions.

Althea sounds really interesting, honestly. While Ascher is, in part, returning to the Academy to study statecraft... he's also there to further his understanding of magic - wind magic, in particular. Having someone willing to discuss such things with him from a different perspective - especially a dark perspective, as one's perception of the Nether inherently impacts one's ability to use it in specific ways - would certainly serve to broaden his perspective during study. I can also affirm, from personal experience, that teaching someone about a subject one considers oneself an expert on often leads to one learning more than one ever expected, so I would certainly be on-board if Althea happened to want lessons in wind magic. I was considering having Ascher become a professional tutor (at least until he gets on his feet) for awhile, anyway - so it'd be a nice lead-in to the profession. ( Nayru Al-Saiduq)

In-character Althea's academic papers were the source of some significant recent shifts in the application and classification of dark magic, so it's safe to say she's set for the task and more than willing to opine about it haha. We'll see how the training thing goes, she's still 80 posts out from being able to learn it rules-wise, but learning more about it could be very helpful for her development in that direction.
I'm more than fine with it just being a conversation but we can do other stuff if you want, or just see how things go.

I've started a thread and tagged you, Aria - I look forward to seeing how they develop! Would it be safe to say that Althea's name - or family name - would be known in Bern's Academic circles? To the extent such that she would be welcome to peruse the Imperial Academy's library, give a seminar, or otherwise be secure in the belief she wouldn't be persecuted for setting foot in the capitol? Probably a bit more than she's comfortable with, yeah. After Hargus's flagrant misuse of dark magic, though, it's not exactly popular to be a dark mage of any sort in the area - not persecuted like a dragon might be though, just viewed with suspicion.
If you want her to be there in some kind of official capacity or for Ascher to know who she is, I could see that working, maybe she agreed to do a lecture for the woefully underfunded Elder Magic curriculum in return for free access to a restricted section of the library. If not, it could just be her showing up at the library for personal reasons, she doesn't advertise her contributions at all so that aspect may or may not come up. Do you have any preferences?
Also, we do have a discord if you want to discuss stuff faster! No pressure of course, just throwing it out there.

I like the idea of them meeting somewhere that they can strike up a conversation, without that conversation necessarily being public. I imagine that the Imperial Academy's library and attendant study rooms would be one such area. Perhaps she gained access to that restricted section, and they end up sharing a study room? I'd prefer her knowledge of magic to be more readily known to get the ball rolling, as Ascher is wary of giving too much information (read:power) to pupils who may not have the maturity or schooling to use it responsibly. What are your thoughts on the matter? With regard to Discord... I actually think I'll stick to the forums for now. If I move to Discord, I will inevitably get distracted by the myriad of other servers and be lost unto the Abyss. ( Nayru Al-Saiduq )

Sure, that works for me. Althea spends a lot of time looking into ruins and other archaeological oddities, as well as magic, so a major library would be very helpful - and she sure as hell isn't going to Etruria's. Maybe we go with option 1 then, people know who she is and why she's there, and they meet after whatever she did to get access.

Given the circumstances, it might be best if I do it to confirm the details of whatever she's doing there exactly. I'll probably get to it in the morning. Looking forwards to this!
