...Holy crap.
The site is not only alive...but the story lives on!?
Wow. That's- all I can really say. With the world being as it is, and finding myself feeling nostalgic for better days, I found myself looking back to this site as being a truly great time.
That it is not only alive, but still ongoing truly warms the heart. I must admit, I was a less than stellar writer at the time...but I cannot help but be tempted to come back proper with everything I've done and learned in my time away.

Dang, been a while since I saw you - I think you left just around the time I joined? Always thought your status message was cool though haha. The site has definitely had its ups and downs, but the fact it's still around at all after this long, much less with people posting, is indeed something else.
Whether or not you return to RPing, welcome back! And I guess, it's nice to finally meet you properly!

About five years or so, it would seem.
From the looks of it, you've been doing well handling things. Might be fun to get a crash course on world events; I've been looking over information here and there, but how up-to-date anything is is...well. Hard to say.
Don't know if I would return proper, at least immediately. With how things may have progressed, my own writing habits, and the evolution of forum RP in general? Might need time to look and think things over.
Not to mention the other narratives I am in or run in other places. But...WOTW is undeniably a part of who I am, so it's hard to say no.

Welcome Back! It's nice to meet you! You were gone long before I joined but, I recognize that sprite from a few of the older threads.
We're here for ya for whenever you feel that writing muse.

Hey, new (but not really new since you were here LONG before I found this place) person! Name's Ardent, but I've had people refer to me by my character Reed occasionally. Anything works, really. Welcome back!

Ha, yeah. Joined back in '07 (Ouch), and even then I was the new kid on the block; story was full-swing and all over the place.
I suppose, above all else, I'm curious to see what stories everyone is telling now in Elibe. The documents still mention things like The Prophet and all sorts of other details...but I can't really say from a base observation that it's all up-to-date.
If someone could give me a run-down of all that's going on, that'd be real groovy.

tl;dr version
-Etruria (officially run by the Prophet, in practice mostly run by the Herald) started a holy war with Ilia and Sacae. Lycia is on fire, Bern is rebuilding, both stayed neutral.
-Etrurian War with Ilia recently ended, on relatively good but mostly unknown terms. There is some aid in rebuilding.
-Tensions between Ilia and Bern/Sacae are rising, especially Bern after how the Rebellion ended.
-Etruria/Sacaen war is on the low for now, since neither were really able to effectively push into each other. FAR from peace though.
Not super related to Elibe's plot per se, but a few years back Elibean explorers discovered Vinland, and on it the Taguel from Awakening, as well as some human settlements.

Incredible, really, that the Powder Keg that is Kraft - The Prophet - Is still going on...And to think, they last logged in a good ten years ago! I think I last recall being around when the Bernese Aggression War was in full swing, and when Richter came into the light...actually, this brings about a good question: What year is it now in Elibe? What year was it when I left? Between what I am remembering versus what I'm reading, I can't really wrap my head around what went on 'when'.
I don't recall the fall of Ostia, but I'm certain I was around for that, so I think I left around 1291-1292AS. But looking at the Plot Overview tells me I either left shortly after, or the character of Rayl was used as NPC reinforcements against Ariston (A name I have no recollection of). I can say with certainty that I was not here for Hargus Two: Zombie Boogaloo, though. The Plot Overview then says that Rayl was Knight-Commander of Araphen, which threw me for a brief loop. So...I dunno how accurate or to-date the Overview is. The latest timestamp is 1294/1295 AS from the look of it.
Saw that you also brought on board the concept of additional dragon types, which is groovy. And it's groovy to see that you decided to add in the Taguel; a good call, I'd say, given the overall positive impact Awakening had on the series. This is the part where we ignore the fact I disliked Fates and am a GBA-style Purist.

Honestly, no idea on the timeline. Hal was pretty set on 1 year OOC = 1 year IC for a while there, idk if it's still a thing, hope not lol. Last I remember was closer to 1295 ish.
I wasn't there when you were so admittedly I have very little knowledge of Rayl's position or disappearance.
Dragons are fun! And I say that not TOTALLY out of bias in their favor! People had been asking for light/dark dragons for a while, and some for Magic dragons, but it took some doing to get it to gel with the existing Nether lore in particular. And we even have kinda-sorta sea dragons now! Always thought they were cool.
Taguel as well. I... admittedly, didn't like Fates and onward either, even in Awakening (despite being a fun game) I really missed the fantastic animations of the GBA games.

1295 looks about accurate, barring any new information, and Rayl's location is easily still as Knight-commander in Pherae.
That said, I don't think I would pick the character up again in a primary fashion. Being a questgiver or showing up where the plot would need his title (given that the Lucian League appears to be prepping for conflict)? Sure, that is where he makes the most sense narratively. Not to mention that it is hardly sporting to show up, some five years later, and strut about with a character who is rich and effectively max level.
Might do a write up on their current state and actions, to get back into the swing of things. Also saw you have a quest thread going on in Pherae; if you would like Rayl to have some sort of connection to that (EX. Provides the reward at the end), feel free to shout!
-----
I remember how people would want to be dragons/manaketes in the past. I'll have to do a full read on the new content to see how it all ties into the world of Elibe.
Taguel, too, are interesting. Not personally my thing from an aesthetic standpoint, and are functionally identical to dragons, but it is cool to see the variety; ran a Fire Emblem RP for awhile that had Boar People as a group.
-----
Yeah...Fates- kinda killed my interest in future entries (though I heard good things about Three Houses), narratively speaking and somewhat mechanically. But that's all been said and done by people smarter than I am.

That... would actually be a REALLY cool tie-in. The quest thing. Nayru may be no Saffra(sp?) but it'd be cool to meet him at least haha.
That said, there's nothing wrong with picking up an old character! I'm not saying you SHOULD, but like, Kenshin is still active, Nayru may not be as old sitewise or as important worldwise but is still a pretty major force, and characters like Mila and Remus are getting to be fairly well known.
Lycia is knee deep in crap with both monsters, and potentially themselves, Pherae isn't too far away from a war with Laus. So far not much to do with the greater war, but Araphen is champing at the bit to change that, lol.
Taguel definitely have some dragon similarities but with their augments and weapon/magic usage, they play a fair bit differently I think.

No shame in wanting to start over with someone new. But if you wanna pick up where you left off. Monsters are a blight upon Lycia!
Hordes of undead roam the countryside. Baels roam and make homes in unwanted places. Goyles are a flying menace. While most stick to Bern some do roam into the Lycian mountain side.
A champion (coming out of retirement/dealing with the beuracracy) with military experience and funding would be a huge boon to those trying to fight back the tide of unpleasant things.
Totally not saying that out of intrest of my mage here.
Vinland also has potential to do somethings. I've a rabbit taguel there who helps guard the peace of her territory, along with her crew. She does not like these Elbians coming into the island and stealing away the resources/animals/people. --- Haven't played 3 houses either. But apparently I've heard good things about its writing and choices that must be made. Didn't like fates either. Awakening has been my favorite out of the newer versions so far but take that with some salt.

I'll keep your ideas under advisement, but I feel like using Rayleigh in any way outside of the upcoming Lycian Conflict would be unfitting to the character and the world narrative as a whole. Plus, him being busy trying to keep Pherae from dipping into any one side of the conflict seems like a good idea given his focus on Etruria and Kraft/The Prophet...all worth exploring in a solo write-up. After all, by the overview, Pherae is being pulled towards Santaruz' side...and Rayleigh himself trained as a lancer (AKA someone who fulfills the duties of a knight, but is not themselves a knight) prior and during the rise of Hargus and the Bandit War. So...some of the more militant supporters of Santaruz might consider him a Laus sympathizer. Combine this with the fact that he is not Noble-born and holds the title of Knight-Commander? That could change if Pherae decided to go to war with Laus and Rayl showed hesitation. Lot of stuff to consider on that front for the character...guess you all got my creative juices flowing again! But, when it comes to the quest you are running, I'll catch-up on what has been going on and, whenever you're ready to have me pop in for an ending/cameo role, please alert me somehow so I can help make your adventure a little more...uh...world-fitting...ish?
And, honestly? Yeah, I think using Rayleigh as a quest giver prior to Pherae entering into a major conflict (and maybe during, for mercenaries) would be a good way to warm-up writing the character again. I think I'll get to work deciding how he's spent these last few years, then turn it into a write-up.

Sweet Mother Teresa on a Mercedes Benz. I decide to pop on real quick to see what's been going on, and this is what I find? This I like.

Hah! I remember a bit about you, Linius! Good to see more of us are around and kicking!
Been typing some stuff on my end in the background; get a feel for the character again. Might post what I have by month's end.
