Ok, I haven't played any Fire Emblem beyond Fire Emblem 9, so I am unfamiliar with the Manakete race, beyond the fact they can transform into a dragon, or dragon-like form to do battle. I'm a huge fan of dragons and would like to play one, but without knowing the story, I'm unsure of how I would be able to get started. Can anybody help me with whatever information they know about the race, and/or the RP world itself?

Im a manekete, yo. Ther are basically just what you said. They are dragons who put all thier power in a dragonstone. They use that dragonstone to transform into a dragon, unleashing awesome might. They attack with breath, and the kind of attack depends on the type of stone you have. look in the Nabata board in "Dragonstone Forgery" to see the types of dragonstones. It pretty simple, dont stress about it, and have fun being a dragon! ^_^

I know nothing about the Manaketes, othat than most humans don't even know of their existance, since they hide in Arcadia to never see the outside world. Of course, you are one of those exceptions, in which you actually get to see the outside world.
I can perhaps help you with the world. There's a map in one of the topics on the General board. The world is divided into 6 main parts:
1. Nabata: It's a desert, on the lower left "corner" of the world(yeah, a corner on a round world. Talking about the map here). There are raging sandstorms, and there is only one city there: Arcadia. This is the city where Manaketes and Humans live together. This is where you start, also.
2. Bern: Full of mountains, it's on the lower right corner of the map. Bern is known for it's powerful Wyvern Riders and huge ammounts of bandits.
3. Ilia: Ilia is the snowland located on the upper right corner of the map. It's also the land prefered by Pegasus Knights to train in, and nto many can fight properly in such a striking cold place.
4. Etruria: Located on the upper left corner of the map, Etruria is the land of magic. Etruria is the place where the "church" of Saint Elimine is. Said church is the favorite training spot for Magicians, Clerics, and the like.
5. Sacae: Middle right side of the map. Sacae is made of extensive plains. Loved by Nomads, Sacae is the perfect spot for horse riding, considering many nomadic tribes live there, and there aren't any cities really.
6. Lycia: The civilized area, really. Middle/Lower Middle area of the map. Lycia is the home to the 5 kingdoms: Ostia, Pherae, Santaruz, Laus and Caelin. Lord Sain reigns in Ostia, while Lord Calis reigns in Santaruz. Sain has dissapeared and Calis has died not long ago. Ostia is now ruled by Marcus, lead paladin of the Pherae army, and Yeo, Calis' most trusted vassal, is now in charge of Santaruz. The rest have no "known" lord yet.

Ok, I'll look at the map. I'm not sure if it will tell me a bit of the history of the world though... pretty much all I know is the basics of Fire Emblem Characters (from playing the game) and that there are bandits all over the place and they are trying to rule the world.

Here is a quick history, from the begining of the game.
Once, dragon and men coexisted. They shared a peace forged in wisdom a peace that lasted many genrastion all that was lost when mankind disrupted this balance in a sudden onslaught man fought dragon is a savage war that shook the foundations of their world this war was called the Scourting. Defaeated and humbled, dragons vanished from the realm. In time, man rebuilt and spre his dominon across the land and on to the islands.

I'm not sure how the humans could have defeated the dragons, unless they greatly outnumbered them, but thanks for posting that story. I had read a little bit when looking for a translation for the game, and that was the top four lines, so I had already tried to play in a way where my guy is wary around humans. He also is most concerned about his race mainly due to the stories he grew up with about how the humans battled against the dragons, and drew them away.

The humans had special anti-dragon weaponary made. There was one for every class of character. Just wielding one of these made a human able to kill of any dragon. It came down to a small army with anti-dragon weaponary. FE 6 (which is the sequeal/prequeal to the FE this rp is based on), focused on the revival of the dragons. In order to send them packing, you had to find all the anti-dragon weaponary used by the original heroes. (of course, it was a side-quest like thing for a special ending, but it was the real story behind the game)

If you played Super Smash Brother:Meele and got Roy, the sword he uses is the Sword of Seals. That is one of the weapons Matthias is talking about.

Fuuin no Tsurugi or Sword of Seals is the name of FE 6, prequel to FE 7, which is known as Rekka no Ken, or simply Fire Emblem. I don't remember what Rekka no Ken stands for, though.
The legendary weapons are many, but the ones we actually get to use are Durandal(Eliwood, greatsword), Armads(Hector, axe), Sol Katti(Lyn, sword), Forblaze(Athos, Anima magic, I think it was fire-based) and Aureola(S-Ranked and not for a specific character, Light magic).
But I assume that there are more than just those.

Yeah, there was one of every type in FE 6... of course, I can't remember them all now...

Ok, but this war did still occur, correct? You've got me confused with thie 'revival' part, while also mentioning that you send them packing. :/
If those weapons are still in this game, then that would also mean that I would hate those weapons if I were to see them as I could tell they would be a great bane against me, and my kind. This could get interesting.

The war did occur. Humans won, and the dragons left this plane for the most part, or retired to Nabata (that's where you, Shyon, and Marceus hail from).
Those weapons are in the world, but the mods haven't given us the permission to find them yet. They technically came from the game before/after the one this rp is based on, so they might not be allowed. From what Matis said, only a few of the dragon killing weapons are available to us.
You need to look out for the Durandal. With that, one of the main chars of FE 6 singlehandly killed a dragon. That's right, one guy killed a dragon. So yeah, you might very well hate those weapons, while we might want them to stop the bandits.

Ok, but how would they benefit in stopping the bandits? None of them are dagons as far as I know.

The weapons are a little powerful. Just a little. Like swords that throw flames and lances that use ice little. In short, they're really strong weapons that would make tearing bandits up all the easier.
Besides, I'm of the belief that we're not just going to end up fighting bandits. That's too easy...
