The way to Sacae had been...Suprisingly uneventful. Was it because Larissa wasn't alone that they hadn't been attacked?
But by the time they reached the border of Etruria and Sacae, Larissa became tense and serious. She disliked the very thought of being in Sacae.

Skye stared at the arrow she was twirling absentmindedly, clearly in deep thought. They had been traveling for days and not a single battle or even a nearby snap of a twig had alerted them of larger danger. It was as if they were invisible.
And Larissa still doesn't look too happy either. Why would she want to come to Sacae? It seems to have a very negative effect on her for some reason.
The arched flipped the arrow up, caught it, and slipped it back into her case. She looked inquiringly at Larissa. "You okay?"

Larissa spoke quietly, in a manner that wasn't at all like her and looked down at her feet which marched lightly on the dirt road, "Yeah. I'm fine." She looked over to Skye and smiled slightly, "Just bored, that's all..."
Her voice driffed off with the wind that brushed over the lush plains. Sacae was a beautiful place, but most Sacaens had clever and rogue-minded hearts. That was what Larissa taught herself to believe, but she wasn't truly certain if it was the truth, since her father had been the most carefree and considerate man she had ever known.

Skye studied Larissa's face. The black-haired girl had always had a gift for reading peoples emotions, ironic considering her rather emotionless appearance. "You seem troubled. Did something bad in your past take place here?"
The archer studied their surroundings as well. She took in the lush, endless plains and clear blue sky as she inhaled.
As she was doing this she trained her eyes on the nearby underbrush, which had appeared to move for a split second.
It was probably just the wind but you can never be too careful...

Larissa pouted, her lips pursed together, "IT'S FINE." She crossed her arms as she began to speak, "I mean it."
That's when she saw Skye's eyes dart towards a large bush. Larissa was catching on, "Psst." She began to whisper, "Do you think there's an enemy hiding?"
Larissa then cleared her voice and then yelled, "YOU DON'T NEED TO HIDE!!! THAT'S SO CLICHE!!!"
After receiving no answer, she turned around and started walking, once again tense, "C'mon. There's nothing there..."

Skye gasped. "What are you doing?! If there is someone there we won't have time to prepare ourselves." She jumped to catch up with Larissa, but couldn't help looking back at the bushes.
Provoking an enemy is NOT a very bright idea. I would still rather avoid fighting at the moment.

"Well, it's just not polite!" Larissa replied, putting her hands to her hips and turning around to Skye swiftly, "I mean really! It's so childish, like hide-and-seek or something! At least they could just come out now!"
And with that five bandits approached behind Larissa, but of course, due to her endless chatter and the way she was positioned towards them, she was oblivious to the three.
"So that must mean they must REALLY need money to go to such immature lengths!" She concluded as her lavender curls bounced on her shoulders.

One of the smaller bandits unsheathed a steel sword and began to charge at the oblivious mage.
"Larissa, look out!" Skye's fighting reflexes kicked in and she flashed out an arrow like lightning, shooting it with automatic aim at the bandits heart. It pierced through his grimy shirt and the rouge died instantly, but there were still plenty more to worry about.
Skye yanked Larissa away and started backing up, holding up her bow in a fighters stance. There must be around five to seven and in these open plains there's nowhere for me to gain elevation. It's going to depend on how well Larissa can fight...

Larissa was pulled away, forced down to the ground. She fell on her bottom with a "thump".
"OW! That was uncalled for-" She began to complain, but when she saw the bandits she jumped up to her feet. She gave Skye a sheepish smile, "Oh."
Larissa took out her tome and began to say the incantation that she had studied so much that it was like it had been inscribed in her heart.
"Fire!" She cried as she finished the spell. A flare of fire engulfed one of the bandits, but it didn't look like he was quite defeated yet.
Larissa fell into a fit of sorrow, "It didn't work as well as I had hoped..."

Skye raised an eyebrow. My guess is not very well. "Your not very seasoned at this are you," she stated bluntly.
She pulled out another arrow and bit her lip in concentration. She pointed it at the injured bandit. "I'll finish this one off. You start powering up another spell. Maybe we can attack in unison afterwards to make it stronger. It's not like we have much of a choice. Now that the bandits are more alert, I won't be able to kill them in one shot neccessarily.

"You're not very seasoned at this BLAH BLAH BLAH!" Larissa mumbled at Skye, "JUST WATCH ME."
Larissa concentrated on her tome with every inch of energy she was supplied with. She raised her hand and spun swiftly as she cast the fire spell, but still it was not able to defeat the bandit alone.
"WHAT?!" Larissa shrieked at the top of her lungs, now fuming with anger.
But now was no time to be angry. It was the bandits turn to attack.

Skye whipped her head around. "Stay focused!" She let go of her arrow and it struck the burnt bandit in the shoulder, causing him to crumple to the ground in pain. That should keep him down for a while.
Her thoughts were cut off as the edge of an axe blade missed her shoulder by a hair. Right in front of her was the rugged, scarred face of a bandit, growling menacingly.
Skye felt stiff, her mouth agape. The man pulled his axe from the ground and brought it back down. Skye held up her bow as defense, the metal creating a loud clanging noise.
"A little help here?!"

"Oh-Oh Yeah! Sorry!" Larissa stuttered, after watching Skye nearly get tackled by the axe.
"Hey you! Bandit, with the axe!" Larissa yelled.
The bandit raised his head as Larissa called out to him.
"You're so ugly, that...THAT Hargus bandit guy would be afraid of you!" She taunted with arms hands on her hips.
The bandit charged at Larissa with fury and she quickly cast a spell, burning the bandit to a crisp, but again, not fully depleting him of his energy, "SKYE! Go for it!"

Skye lifted herself up and tried to regain her composure. She shook her bangs out of her eyes and strung an arrow into her bow. She pulled back and the arrowhead whizzed through the air, piercing through the bandits back. He fell forward, still and bleeding.
The archer smirked with slight confidence and gave Larissa a thumbs up, something quite unlike herself. This is sort of exciting with other people.
She backed up and prepared to fire again, not noticing the shallow gash formed at her wrist.

Larissa smiled back at Skye, who had given her a thumbs up. Due to Skye's personality, such a carefree gesture was unexpected, but it was welcomed by Larissa.
She saw that there were two other bandits to deal with and became furious, "I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOU GUYS ANYMORE!!!"
Her heart sparked with an invincible flame, a flamed actuated by her anger towards the bandits but towards her friendship with Skye and her jealousy that she could not defeat a bandit herself.
She raised her hand and closed her eyes this time and spun and this time, the flame not only engulfed one of the two remaining bandits, but exploded. (Critical hit) In an instant, he was defeated.
Larissa jumped up with glee and cried out with joy, "I DID IT!!! I beat one myself!"
