OOC: TAKE TWO! Some alterations were made to make it flow better.
IC:
Wyatt had finally crossed his way into the busy streets of the town known as Laus. It had been the longest time he'd been away from home, though he really had only traveled for less then a week. He'd already made some quick coin selling the 'Lycian Razor Fang' skins he'd collected. Other people called them wolves, but a true woodsman knew the differences. They fetched good prices here, and it was enough to earn him a day or twos lodging.
Before that though, he figured it best to approach the castle, after all, that was the entire reason for his visit here.
And so, with his axe and smithing supplies in toe he approached the mighty outer gates of castle Laus.

A long hard day was drawing to and end for Denzel. As Bern, their oppressor had been ousted from power Lycia had once again become free to govern their own affairs. In theory. The outposts that the once greatest military power in world had put in place to fend of the threat that was Etruria were without leader but still in control and at arms.
Laus, the second greatest territory after Ostia, whose severe losses had left it weak was the first to get rid off the hold these remnants had on their land were gathering their forces to strike back.
To this end they were gathering mercenaries and deserted Lycian soldiers within their castle.
Which resulted in said long hard day. Denzel sighed at the unexciting part of his duties but knew that battle was soon to come. and with it his chance to prove himself as a knight and a warrior.

Laus: The closest Wein would ever get to home. He couldn't return to Ostia. Not yet, not without proving himself. Not without making a difference.
Ah, who was he kidding? Wein would always be second rate to his brother. He might as well just return home. He hadn't done anything in the past five years.
Wein slapped down his mug. "Give me another, Albus," he said to the bartender. Albus just shook his head. "Is that all you're going to do every day, Wein?" he asked. "You go out hunting everyday, hand off the meat and pelts to the merchants, then come in here, feed the bones to ol' Bruster over there," he said, pointing to a large, one-eyed black dog off in the corner, gnawing on a bone, "then you sit in that seat, and drink yourself into a stupor so I have drag your butt upstairs and dump you in bed." Wein burped. "Something wrong with that?" he asked. Albus sighed. "Yes, Wein, there is. When you first got here seven months ago, you told me about your wanderings, your life of adventure. You told me about how you wanted to become someone." "It's overrated. One man can't make a difference." "I thought you might say that," said Albus, reaching under the bar. He pulled out a flier and stuffed it in Wein's mug. "I'm cutting you off for the night. Read that, then go get some sleep." Albus returned to shining glasses and Wein took the flier, grunted, and hobbled upstairs.
He got to his room, which was actually just a small bed in the hallway on the second floor, and plopped himself down. He flattened out the flier and looked at it. "Now recruiting," Wein read aloud, "able-bodied men willing to fight for Lycia. Rid our land of the men of Bern, and take back freedom." Wein stopped, burped, then crumpled up the flier and threw it at the wall. Soldier work, hah, just another way to blend into a bunch of unrewarded masses. If he was going to fade into oblivion, he might as well do it comfortably.
He kicked off his boots and rolled into bed. Wein rubbed his eyes. The lights were too bright to go to sleep. It was only six o'clock in the evening. ...Maybe he'd go to the castle tomorrow, just to check it out.

Lilith knew she should have stayed in Etruria. Her training wasn't even complete yet, and she had very little money! But she could not stay there. She could not become a puppet. Her master was following what the "Prophet" was saying. But Lilith knew that St. Elimine would never whisper such harsh things into any human's ears. So she was here. A few coins jingled in her purse and an old, black tome in her hand. Laus was a mess. It looked as though a dragon had rampaged through it. She walked into an inn and gave almost half of her coins up for one night. In her room, she muttered dark words of power and let a ball of pure nothingness fly around the room.

Wyatt reached the mighty gates, and noticed the scores of guards about. Surely they would not step aside and simply admit him to the castle, even one such as him knew that, but to whom should he talk about these things? He spied a few soldiers, but all of them looked far too busy to talk to him, and he started to feel just how out of place he looked here, even among these huge cities.
It was then that he spied a smaller soldier, probably just in trainning, since he looked barely old enough to grow stubble on his chin. In fact he looked rather awkward to be standing there among all of the large soldiers, this tiny boy. Well, he couldn't be as out of place as this child knight was, so Wyatt chose him to approach.
"Hello." He started simply, maintaining the best manners he knew. "I heard...you've been recruiting tradesmen for the war effort. I've come to offer my services here as a smith, so I wish to speak with..."
Who did he want to speak with exactly? He had know way of knowing if that Magnus knight was still here.
"Who ever it is that makes such decisions." He finished.

"Ah, I am Sir Denzel." Denzel said, pleased that he could truthfully introduce himself with that title. He quickly thought the quarry through. Well I suppose such matters wouldn't be handled by the Marquess personally so... "I'll take you to the Knight-Commander, the honorable Lord Bernard. He should be able to help you. Follow me." The young knight turned around and walked into the keep. As the walked through the corridor Denzel tried to strike up conversation with the other man. "So, where are you from, Mister ...?" I asked realizing he had not gotten his name yet.

"Sithru," Lilith whispered to the air. The black ball faded with a small pop. She was bored. She wanted to do something, not just sit in an inn and play with a street performer's form of magic. She walked out of her room and the inn. The sun was sinking lower in the sky, lighting the world in a conflagration of reds and oranges. People came from all of Elibe to see the Lycian Sunsets. She walked jauntily, singing bits of a poem she read in a book ("To fight the foe Durza, in the land of shadows"). Then she saw a small bar. Wondering about the local nightlife, she slipped in. The bartender's name was Albus, apparently (by reason that the bar was called Albus's Pub). She sat on a stool and twisted it around a bit, before peppily asking, "do you serve Appletinis here?!"

"Why yes I do, indeed," replied Albus. He reached under the counter, pulled out the vodka and the apple cider, and mixing them, poured the mixture into a glass and handed the glass to the girl. "Enjoy."
Meanwhile, Wein couldn't get to sleep. He sat up, ran a hand over his face, slipped his boots back on, and waltzed downstairs. "Hey Albus," he half-yelled as he made his way down, "I can't get to sleep, it's too early." He reached the bottom of the stairs. "I need a drink; just give me a glass of water." He stopped, noticing the blond-haired girl at the bar, and then walked up and sat down in a stool next to her. "Well, well," said Wein, "what brings you to this humble bar?"

When the boy asked his name, as if he had a surname, he shook his head.
"Wyatt is fine. Thank you Sir Denzel." It felt odd addressing someone so young with a knightly title, but he wasn't too familiar with military courtesies, so he decided to act as everyone else did. "And I'm from a small nameless town, about 3 days south west of here." He explained. "It seems that a lot of people are becoming soldiers after the war, and where there is war, men of the craft are always needed."
He glanced around the halls, observing the overwhelming decor.
"At least that's the plan." He finished.

Lilth smiled at the man who sat down next to her. "I'm here in Lycia by... What you would call political asylum? Anyway, I was bored, just sitting in my room at the inn, so I came out to sample to local fare," she said. After taking a few sips of her appletini, she said, "This is better than in Etruria. My name is Lilith DeGarte. Who're you?" she asked.

'Well you've come to the right place if you want to take benefit from the war, we're pretty busy these days.' Denzel stopped when he had reached a door and knocked. After they were told to enter he led the aspirant-smith inside. 'Milord this, is Wyatt he's come here to offer off us his services as a smith.'

Albus silently handed Wein his water, and Wein chugged it. He put it back down on the table. "My name's Wein Lowell. I'm a hunter," he said. "I'm from Ostia, but currently, I live upstairs." He turned to look at Albus, who just shrugged and ducked under the counter, apparently looking for something. Wein turned back towards Lilith. "If you want, I could show you around. I'm not a native, but I know the city pretty well."

Wyatt knew nothing of formal courtesies as he entered the room of the Knight Commander, he did recall the name that had been spoken, and a few strings of words from old stories and such.
"It...is an honor to meet you Lord Bernard." He managed to get out, more then a little intimidated as he bowed his head. Even though he had not looked at the man before him, he was frightened of him.
"I have journeyed here to offer my skills as a smith to my lands cause, if you have need."
The Knight looked up and over the boy before him, and glanced to his pack as well.
"You seem well prepared...and smart enough at least. I will let your skills be judged at least. You will report to Master Smith Sirus in the morn, and he will judge your skill and promise in service to this fine country." He then looked to Denzel. "Sir Denzel, you will show him to Master Sirus' smith and to a local place for him to find lodging until his meeting tomorrow." He glanced again at Wyatt. "I trust you were wise enough to bring the coin you would require for a few days. If not, well you'd best be resourceful." A half grin from the Knight's lip. Was he amused at something? He didn't seem all that intimidating anymore...
"Dismissed." He finished, waving his hand to signal it was time for them to leave. He was about to turn to leave when he remembered that would be rude. So he bowed his head slightly again.
"Thank you for your time." Before ducking out of the room with Denzel behind him.
He stood in the hall for a moment. "Are all nobles like that? I kind of expected them to be...different.."

With a half-smirk, Denzel shrugged. 'Not all of them, you got them in all shapes and colors around here. So tell me, do you have the coin right now?' He asked, he figured if Bernard bothered to bring it up he probably didn't. What he really was trying to ask is what he was gonna do about it. but that would be rude...

Lilith beamed at Wein. "That would be wonderful!" she said. "Osyia, huh? I heard what happened there, you must be worried. Do you have family there? Do you know--? Oh, sorry. I don;t mean to pry, I just got carried away. You don't have to answer me." she trailed off as she became more embarrassed at her questions. "Anyway... You're a hunter? That sounds interesting. I'm a student of magic... I'm not that good yet, though."
