As she listened to Rayl's story, Chelsea found it hard to imagine him as he said. He just seemed too... nice. Were all knight like this? And what was a Marquess, she still had no idea. Maybe was his king, or wife, or dog or something. So they had come from Ilia, no wonder they seemed to greatly enjoy the plains, she had heard less than pleasant things about that place. Then she could see a certain look in his eyes. He wasn't telling something, but again, it was none of her business to ask.
"If you're busy you don't have to help look. I'm more than capable of doing it on my own. And I don't want to be a bother, I can find an inn or someplace to stay."
Then again, he said ranch. Maybe she could ride more. It felt so good to ride again. Maybe she could ride with her father when she finally found him. Just the two of them, riding across the plains. She'd like that.

"It's no trouble, it's my duty after all...that and I cannot stand to see people seperated from those they care for." Again thoughts of Persephone swirled in his head, before he closed his eyes for a moment until the images of her face were gone for the time being.
"The ranch has numerous rooms I never use...It's not like I every have visitors, but I may have to do some dusting though first." It was true, Rayl was rarely at home, but would always be there in time to feed the horses, his only real break time in his day of bandit stopping, road patrolling, gate guarding, greenhorn training...it continues on and on. He'd often be found asleep in the barn more often than in his own bed, always fully armored and never really comfortable," If you'd like, you may also ride some of the horses I have there when you aren't looking for your father." he noticed that, by the look on her face, she enjoyed being on a horse, so he let that offer float out there...it was the kind of look he often saw in his recruits.

At the suggestion she would be able to ride, he face lit up. Or rather, she cracked a genuine smile, which for her was lighting up. "I'd really be able to ride your horses?" Just the thought of being able to ride whenever was uplifting. "I can help with them, feeding and whatnot, to earn my keep." She refused to be a freeloader. There were few feelings worse than being in debt to someone when it's unnecessary.
Her eyes went down to her bow and she thought of something her mother once said. "Is it true there's a lot in archers in Pherae? It would be nice to be able to practice a little more."

"I'd appreciate the help, I'm sure the animals would love to meet you too, especially Spirit...she's a Sacaen Mustang I found injured on the plains when I had traveled there three years ago when I was on leave, visiting friends in the City of Heroes. I raised her back to health, staying longer than I was supposed to...Marquess Pherae was cross with me, but he understood how I felt about horses, always drifting off and thinking about them..." he smiled and looked across the sea of grass remembering the event...
He then ran through the names of the other animals at the ranch: There was of course Elibe: his best friend, a Bernese Charger. Then there was Johnny: A Pheraen Shire. Then Viking: an Ostian Throughbred, Spirit: a Sacaen Mustang. Also there was his old combat horse Bessy, a poor choice in hindsight: rather panicky, always bucking him off...then there was his hound dog Dakota, some cows...and then there was his Bernese friend, Fang a-
He snapped back into reality." Sorry about that...anyways: Pherae is widely regarded as the archery capital of the Lycian League...that's the group of inndividual nations in the region, ruled by Marquesses, sort of like mayor-kings." he explained what a Marquess was largely because he had been using the word so frequently...he must have been confusing her.

Chelsea couldn't believe it. He had a Sacaen Mustang? Really!? She couldn't wait to meet her. Her father owned a Sacaen Mustang back when she was little and she loved it. She couldn't wait to be around another. She was so excited now! And there would be places she could practice her archery! And she finally knew what a Marquess was! After that eventful few minutes, she had a smile etched on her face that hadn't been like that for a long time. Not since Nathan... At that thought her smile faded slightly. Still so painful... She recovered, though, and was soon smiling again. Soon there'd be horses, and archery, and hopefully her father. Things were turning around. Hopefully. "Pherae sounds like quite the place."

OOC: Lol poor Gabriel, not used to a fast thread...then again neither am I.
"It is. The people are friendly, and thanks to the efforts of myself and others the bandit issue is low there." he smiled back as the trio continued through the sea of green, figuring it was best not to ask her what was wrong when her smile temporarily faded in similar fashion to his similar scenario earlier on. He was sure they'd close in on the boundaries soon, their conversation about horses had helped to pass the time rather well. He was glad he'd met someone with similar interests.
OCCA: Hrm...I have the sudden urge to get us to Pherae soon for the win factor, but if Richter's group is going to Sacae, then that epic reunion would have to wait. Either way the post opportunities are amazingly epic...horses or old friends...hmmm...
Horses.

"So Spirit. What she's like?" Ever since she had heard of the horse, she kept thinking about her. She couldn't help but be excited. She was starting to wonder how long it would be until they would reached Pherae so they could meet. "And how long til we get there?" She felt like a little kid again and blushed slightly. Her father always made fun of her when she asked that. Then her mother always stood up for her. Mom... She shook her head. She couldn't keep thinking about them. Not now.

"Spirit? Oh she's a pretty calm horse, though she still has some wild in her. I once had a recruit try and ride her once...we later had to get him to the Castle Healer...apparently I'm the only one able to ride her at this time, but I"m sure you would be able to...Horses can sense a kind rider...that and the recruit had tried to get on too quickly." he smiled lightly as they continued. The sun was beginning to go down behind the far distant mountains behind them, and Rayl was sure they would arrive in Pherae soon enough.
OOC: Short post is short, but I'll move us to Pherae if we wish...well you wish, since we kinda left Gab in the dust in terms of posting...heh. We should PROBABLY wait for him before going.

"I can't wait to meet her..." she said happily. She stared up at they sky again and slowly got lost in her thoughts.
OOC: We should wait. It's the right thing to do.

OoC: Thanks for waiting, but really, it isn't needed. Not like Gabriel would talk about horses. >_>
IC: He had no arguments against Chelsea riding on Rayl's horse, and decided to keep walking through the plains. Besides, the ground of the plains felt rather soft and comfy.
He went almost speechless all the way through Sacae, mostly because horses were not really his thing. He instead insisted on doing rather petty tricks with fire, such as juggling several fireballs with his hands and making some rather small fireworks(which didn't even really fly away. The small fireballs tended to explode in his hands and almost as soon as he threw them. Harmless, but still annoying.
"That's it"
Rayl had pointed out, looking forward and pointing. The border between Lycia and Sacae. What would he do once he got to Pherae?
OoC: Move on to Lycia now if you want.

As she looked to where Rayl was pointing, Chelsea felt a sense of apprehension. While she was eager to get on with her search and to meet the horses, she had never left Sacae before. What if people looked down on her from where she came from? Her father had told her stories about when he journeyed and how people were often rude. He may have been able to hold his own in those types of argument, but she knew she wasn't ready to face such harsh things. She prayed that she wouldn't have to deal with it. Still, this was the furthest away from home she'd ever been. And though she would never admit it, she was scared.
