Rayl was busy being in the middle of a train wreck on memory lane when he heard someone's voice pierce through his fogged mind, inaudible and unrecognizable, and he flat out almost smacked Merio across the face, though had noticed in time and paused, his hand a few inches from his cousins face. Slowly withdrawing the shaking hand, Rayl slowly got back to his feet, barely, as you could tell he was shaking pretty badly.
Elibe however had a different reaction. The large warhorse snorted and very nearly was about to kick the axe fighter had it not known that there would be consequences from it's friend and rider. Slowly the knight mounted up onto the horse, mostly as if by instinct," Get back to work everyone. Set out for Caelin. Continue as planned" His voice seemed mechanical, not his own without it's cheerful tone, the smile on his face so many were accustomed to was fully absent, as mount and blade took off from the camp.
The duo later came to a stop at the top of a hill some distance down the road, and once he could no longer hear the sounds of his men at work, he dismounted...well, more like fell off, and just lay where he was, looking face up at the sky...and at the red sun...
red sun...hot...fire...FIRE! EVERYWHERE! DRAGONS! SOLDIERS! DEATH! his mind was racing around as he just stared wide-eyed upwards. Some time went by as his mind started to die down a bit...until:
""PEOPLE OF ETRURIA! THE HERETICS HAVE REVEALED THEMSELVES! WE MUST DESTROY THEM! SOLDIERS, ADVANCE!"" the voice of The Prophet's right hand man, The Herald, seemed to arise from the depths of his mind, and he was back in the abandoned house atop Elibe, with Wylie, Crowley, Richter, Sireace, Aeros, and Tobias...
Then...Crowley...charged The Herald...distraction...escape...
Here we go again...and thus he went back to the trainwreck that was his background.
Training at Laus...alcohol...joining up with Crowley...alcohol...Bern...FIRE!...alcohol...Etruria...Hearld...alcohol...Matis...alcohol...Hargus...
...he could use a drink right no- NO! Holy Oath...Barigan...Persephone..."PERSEPHONE!" that last thought came out loud as he shouted with surprise, sitting up as if expecting to see her, but once again his mind was tormenting him...and then he was back to resting his head in his hands, albeit this time sobbing silently.

Everything that had just happened hit Wyatt rather hard. A dragon...on their side? But everyone talked about this dragon that had destroyed Bern, they were the enemies of humanity! He was so lost in thought he jumped when Aevian gave her order, snapping him out of his haze.
"Trust a dragon?" He spoke to Aevian as Rayl rode off. "How can you say that! They tried to destroy humanity, and scorched a whole city of Bern to the ground five years ago! They even said that one of them was working with the bandit king! How can we trust something like that?"
He seemed to accept the futility of this logic though, as he added. "I know I know, there are bad humans too...just like dark..er...elder magic isn't evil by nature. I know it's not that simple, but still...a dragon, and why here? And following someone who wears the symbol of the Holy Knight, wouldn't he be a hated enemy?"
He started walking after Rayl, but the fire was out of him for the time being. This was just all too weird.

"Rayl..." he said, approaching Rayl and Elibe. He had clearly gone insane. Or almost. Was this what he meant that he had done some bad things in the past that he was trying to amend? Was he perhaps rushing through his memories of the past, tormented by them?
Aevian's attempt at dismissing the soldiers seemed to be working, as the majority of them went back to their business. He wanted to pat the Paladin on the back, though given his size and that of his horse, Gabriel could barely reach the man's thighs. Instead, he opted to talk about it. "I know it's hard for you, but...please, tell me", he said, with a serious voice.
"What happened to that dragon? Have you ever seen him since then? What do you think you'd do if you were to see him or her again?" then it crossed his mind. Rayl was probably still seeking revenge.
"Killing it would get you nowhere" he said, coldly. The Paladin had been unable to answer any of the question so far, but nevertheless, Gabriel went on. "You yourself once said that you follow the code of Barigan. The code of all knights. If I'm not mistaken, revenge is prohibited, and should be the worst kind of shame you could have. That, and running from a fight."
"Do you really want your soldiers...no, your friends to see you like this?" he turned around, looking at those that were close by. He then heard Wyatt rambling.
Oh boy...
"Wyatt, I haven't had the chance to talk with Saffra about it, but having read the books written about the old legends, the reasons given for the fight between mankind and dragons are shoddy at best. You can blame humans for that war as much as you could blame dragons, given what is known. And dragons, just like us humans, are capable of individual thought and have an intelligence that is either equal to ours or greater. All you need to know is that Saffra joined Rayl and the Phearen army out of free will. If anything, we should be glad that we have such a powerful ally"
The talk had gone from weird to plainly insane. He was now having a three way conversation, and Rayl still seemed too deep in thought to even ponder about Gabriel's questions.

Wyatt heard the younger voice behind him, and turned to see the young mage, who was lecturing him. Wyatt was never found of lectures, call it youthful rebellion. He also wasn't in the best of moods, sort of came with the hero going crazy and seeing terrors from the past. So in his anger he turned towards the new comer who was lecturing him, as if he knew him!
"And who are you?" He snapped, more then a little rudely. "You're younger then I am, how could you possibly know anything about what happened thousands of years ago? Maybe she's just here to observe him and crush him once she gains his trust! They could destroy a city in a matter of moments, and you'd just say it's all ok to trust them just because of some sob story they weave?"
Great, now he'd moved into behaving completely irrationally. This wasn't good at all.

Merio stood still as the hand came, but he never felt anything. Rayl had stopped his hand before it hit him. His cousin had stood up, and Merio left. Later, he hears Rayl shout a name, but decides that he needed some time alone. "I forget he's been through a lot. I'd crack like that, too... if I had been in wars."

Even Aevian felt a bit silly about saying that Wyatt should trust a dragon. She had her own reasons not to trust them, but Saffra wasn't the one who had caused the destruction in Bern. She couldn't have. Though, she kept quiet for now, it was clear Wyatt wasn't taking this at all easily, and well, she couldn't blame him, dragons had been a thing of stories to him, little was known, and people have a natural skepticism for the unknown.
She turned and looked to Gabriel as he came back from trying to question Rayl, and then proceeded to speak to Wyatt, and he was right about a few things, especially about Saffra being a powerful ally, that much anyone would be able to see...but Wyatt rounded on him...even though she hadn't known Wyatt long, Aevian was a little shocked to see him acting like this to Gabriel.
Reaching out a hand, she put it on his shoulder, and shook her head a bit, trying to calm him down a little with a small motion.
"Easy, Wyatt, easy.."

"What does it matter how old I am? The point is, the only ones able to live long enough to actually tell what happened back then are dragons. If anything, what we have is a book written by god knows who and modified hell knows how many times through these past thousand years for it to suddenly 'coincide' every single time with the wishes of the kings that have had control over the original scriptures. We can't even be sure that the fight between dragons and humans happened. Our only proof is the existence of dragons, which was only confirmed five years ago" he said, looking back at Rayl. It was that very dragon Rayl spoke about that showed that the war a thousand years ago could really have happened.
He then got closed to the fighter and whispered, though he didn't know whether Saffra would be able to hear him or not. Heightened senses could very well be one of the many abilities dragons have that humans are oblivious to.
"Had Saffra really wanted to kill us she would have done so already. I have seen her in dragon form, and she could crush a quarter of the army with just a single foot that way" he opened his hand in front of his face and called a fireball, as it turned and twisted in the air just above his fingers. "Do you really think that our weapons or magic can stand a chance against a dragon? Were she to attack us for any reason, we would barely be able to scratch her at best."
"Besides, even if what you believe turns out to be the truth, then we will at least be able to use her powers until then. I have yet to find a reason not to trust her, which is why I didn't back up when I heard that she was coming alongside us."

Saffra had been watching Rayl for some time, and when he had shouted out the name of his deceased lover. She broke away from Karina and the rider of Fang, an moved closer, to see what was going on, not trying to hide herself. She came in on Wyatt's accusations against dragons. She had heard a lot of this already, and it was a pretty dead topic to he, but still, the feeling of a sword running through her heart was no different, and she clutched her chest, as if grabbing that sword, from the feeling of physical pain.
Still though, she only watched, and listened, unable to move, really. Sob story? Her story was only months old, and how would he know of it already?...But the damning articles of history against her people were written by the victors of that war...history is always made to write biased material. Saffra though..her family had long since ran away from that war, and her parents didn't tell her anything of it at all, well, that's not true, but there wasn't much to tell.
Her eyes didn't fight back tears, but rage...there was a rage inside of her. Such hypocrisy...such malice against all dragons, against all of her who lived...She shook visibly trying to keep the rage inside, and her hands clutched the dragonstone, which had begun to shine within her grip, but fought against the want to use the power.
If she attacked the boy, she would be putting his motives into truth, and what way to reconcile this would there be? What Gabriel had said was true and correct, there is evil in every form of living being.
Saffra had calmed herself to some degree, but still, she was upset, shaking still, but not so much...there was no way of growing out of these stereotypes, when every human believes what one dragon does, is what all collectively do, though, most of her kind probably thought humans were the same way in thought, all evil, all violent...but humans were xenophobic, afraid of what is different or unknown.
Saffra hung back, and watched the to young men argue it out. It was..a little relieving to have someone stand up for her. It was something she had not expected, but greatly appreciated. Saffra didn't know if it were all true, she hadn't been attacked by magic or weapons while in dragon form. The only time she fought in the form, was when she fought to save a village, but those bandits never even attacked her, they simply ran. However, at this point, when Gabriel and Wyatt began to whisper, she could no longer hear them, and sat back against a tree, with her arms crossed.

Kelvin strolled around the area, lost in his thoughts. He was still stuck on his actions from the previous day. What had caused that moment to be so different? Embarrassment was nothing new to Kelvin, but he got this feeling in his gut that just wouldn't go away. In fact, he recalled that the feeling had started shortly after he had arrived in the camp. What could have triggered it? It wasn't Merio, for obvious reasons. He knew it wasn't Rayl, for it wasn't excitement he was feeling, nor was it meeting the dragon woman. He was also sue it had nothing to do with the fact that combat was not far away. He continued strolling, almost running straight into Merio. He knew his brother would scold him for not paying attention, but Kelvin kept going, barely muttering an apology.
He sat down on a nearby tree stump to avoid bumping into anyone else. This wasn't making any sense to Kelvin. In all his life, he had never felt like this before. He searched deeper into his thoughts, searching for an answer. Was he simply going mad? He knew it couldn't be that, or he'd be screaming like Rayl was. He let his thoughts go blank for a moment, as he looked around the camp. His eyes kept darting around the camp, until the fell on one person. His eyes landed on Chelsea, the archer he had met yesterday, and had embarrassed himself in front of. Then it all dawned on him. She had been there for his "little moment". That specific moment had been when that feeling had started. The revelation hit Kelvin like a rock.
He was in love.

While Gabriel tried to consul the knight, before arguing with Wyatt, Rayl was still busy sobbing, something you wouldn't expect from him five years ago, although after some time, he rose to his feet, ran an arm across his eyes, his back kept turned to everyone," I...I doubt I'll be able to continue my performance as commander...from this point on Lady Lucy is in charge...Gabriel...you're Second-in-Command." he paused awhile more, before saddling up, " I-I'll return to Pherae..." Rayl looked down to them, though it appeared as if he was staring right through them, before a weak smile appeared on his face," Good luck." and with this, he road off, making sure not to be seen by his troops, as he made way back for Pherae: a broken mess.

Merio stood agape, staring as his commander, his cousin, say what he just said. Minutes later, Merio grabs his things and gets on his horse. "Kelvin, I'm going to Pherae to see if I can knock some sense into Rayl." Merio waves good bye to his brother, and rides down a road.
"Rayl, I'm not going to let you die."

Last night had been the first night Yaen slept peacefully in quite some time. So, one could hardly blame him for mostly sleeping through the action. When he did arise from his tent, however, he caught enough of the talk to figure out what was going on. "Sounds like I've wandered into another mess..." Yaen figured, girding his swords to his waist, strapping his Wyrmslayer to his back. Looking around, he spotted a familiar figure amongst the many strangers.
"Wyatt!" he called, approaching the axe fighter. Looking him over, Yaen folded his arms. "You look a little different." he commented. "I can't really place it, though...You seem a little maturer..." Walking in circles about Wyatt, he studied the boy curiously. Stopping infront of him, he looked into the fighters eyes. "...I know what it is..." he deduced. With a proud smile, he clapped Wyatt on the shoulder. "You've matured! Your a real warrior now!" he laughed. "It's only been a short while, but I can still tell. You've become a man. We must celebrate later. I don't know how it is in your culture, but for us Sacaens, becoming a man is cause for one."

Confusion. Was that the right word? Well it certainly fit the situation.
As Chelsea tried to figure out what had just happened, she made her way to a little bit just outside camp. Once there, she laid down and stared up at the sky. It was like this way all a dream. Had she really woken up this morning? She shook her head; of course she had.
Rayl, gone. It didn't seem real. True, she had only met him days ago, but it seemed like he'd always been around. If he could leave, who else would? Karina? Saffra? Gabriel? Would the whole group, who she had started to count on as being there, fall apart? Would she be alone again...?
She moved her headband down over her eyes again. She knew she still had Rayl's handkerchief, but now wasn't the time for that. She couldn't keep thinking thoughts like this. She had to be strong. What would the others think if another of their group started to break down? Maybe she should just keep to herself for a few hours.

And before Rayl was even out of sight, a shadow was seen flying across the ground. Long and lightning fast, it plunged the army into darkness as it passed overhead. As the majority of the army looked up, the figure turned, it's silhouette illuminated by the still rising sun. Once again, it's shadow covered the group, as the sun struggled to shine from behind it's massive body and wings.
A deafening roar filled the air, and a powerful flap from it's wings would send all but the more hardy members of the army to the ground as the gust pushed up clouds of dirt and grass. There the creature hovered for a moment, before coming down to stand before the masses, looking over them one at a time, dismissing most of them as if it was looking at an insect.
It was not until it's eyes settled on Saffra that it showed any reaction at all.
"Child." It spoke, it's voice more of a rumbling then actually speaking. "You are hundreds of years too old to be acting this foolish, and in front of humans?"
If he was regarding any of the humans gathered, he clearly didn't show it with even a second glance. To him, they were of no significance.

Kelvin watched as first Rayl, and then Merio rode off, leaving the group behind. He couldn't believe it. He had wanted to go with them, but his new found feelings held him here. But still, his family had left him here, alone. This day was becoming too much for Kelvin. He needed somebody to talk to, but his brother was not here anymore.
Kelvin looked up to see Chelsea walking out of the camp. She appeared distressed, and who could blame her. Their leader had broken down, and left them. Kelvin decided that he needed to talk, and Chelsea was the only one left who wasn't a stranger.
Kelvin stood up and strolled over to where she lay in the grass. Kelvin lowered himself slowly to the ground. "Hey," he said gently, "Do you mind if I sit here?"
