Chelsea blushed deep at Valcrist's words. "He does make me happy. Happier than I've been in a long, long time..." She paused for a moment. "I... I went through some tough times recently. And Kelvin was just... amazing. He was really there for me and... it meant a lot." She paused again, longer this time. "I don't know if I love him. I mean, I know I like him a lot. A very lot. But... I don't know what love feels like. I know I've never felt this way about someone else before, but... I don't know if it's love or not."

It certainly sounded like the picture of lovestruck youth, painted in his mind so many times by the stories he read... "I understand... I've... never been in love either. In fact, the first girl my age I've ever met was you." His voice was nervous as he spoke. "I actually..." He looked down at the grass underneath him, not exactly sure what he was going to say next. "...nevermind." He stopped before he even said anything.
He stretched his feet out underneath him, and looked straight up. "Say..." He said, just a random thought. "What's your favorite color?" There was a point to this question, even if it didn't really seem apparent right now.

Chelsea couldn't help but smile when Val said she was the first girl of her age he had met. She was curious about what he was about to ask, but before she could ask about it he changed the subject. "My favorite color? I'd say either green or blue. Probably more blue, like my clothes." She tilted her head and looked up at him. "Why do you ask?"

"Hey, I like blue too." He smiled. "It for nothing important, just a friendly question is all." He said in the most suspicious way possible. "No, no. Nothing at all. Mwahahaha!" He laughed evilly on purpose. He stood up and wiped his butt off, getting the dirt and grass off before leaning on the tree they sat by. He thought for a moment over this new info, but didn't dare release his plans for it. Blue and Green, eh? I should of expected Green, after all that's 90% of Kelvin's wardrobe. But the blue was a bit of a surprise. A blue-green color, like that one she's wearing it is. Maybe I'll be able to find some green stones... though I doubt I'd be able to get my hand on any. They seem kinda expensive.
He looked up at the branches of the tree, thinking about the day to come. Tomorrow he would start his training by Yaen, and he didn't know what that entailed at all. "Hey, Chels... do you know who Yaen is? He said he wanted to help me get better at fighting... but I know nothing about the man. I assume he's Sacaen from his garb, but that all I can get out of that."

Chelsea looked suspiciously up at Val as he laughed evilly. What was the novice up to? She'd have to get it out of him eventually. When he switched to Yaen, she listened closely. "Yeah, I've met Yaen a few time. He is Sacaen and a swordsman, as you guessed. From what I've seen of him, he's a very good one. He's also a nice man, from what I remember. You could do a lot worse than training under him, that's for sure." She smiled again. "You'll be a great swordsman. I know it."

"I thought so. I could definitely tell by those clothes... I've always like your Sacaen garment. They look so comfortable, yet at the same time so graceful. I guess you need to be comfortable if you're always on the move, right?" He looked down at the sitting archer girl. "But still, I hope I do get better. I'm going to give it everything I got to become a good swordsman. We promised, remember?" He laughed, not sure if she remembered or if it was just him being weird.
His knees bended, and he slowly slide down the tree until he was sitting at the base, his back up against the wood. "So, Chels... Tell me a little about yourself. I don't really know that much, and I'd like to know my new friend a little bit better." He asked innocently. He didn't really, and he'd been intending to ask earlier, but was sidetracked by his own shame.

Chelsea gave a little giggle when Val said he liked her outfit. "I have some extras if you'd like to borrow one." She gave a playful wink. She then fell quiet until her friend stopped talking and thought about his last question. "Well, you know I'm from Sacae. I had a family. Father, mother, brother. My brother died years ago in a hunting accident. My mom died about a year ago from illness. And my dad..." She took a deep breath. "He was killed only maybe a week ago..." She heard herself starting to chock up again. It was painful to think about.

"I.. I'm... I'm so sorry." He looked down at the grass, feeling like a jerk for even bringing it up. That must be the tragedy Kelvin was there for... "I didn't mean to bring up bad memories." It must be really hard... if his mother died... he wouldn't know what he'd do. He couldn't understand the pain she must have felt... and he didn't want to insult her to try. The mood had sunken, saddened. He didn't say anything and looked at her with a sad look on his face. "I... I never knew my father... so I have no idea what kind of pain you must be going through..." Atleast... she has Kelvin for support.
Death is never something easy. He hadn't been exposed to a lot of it in his life, but when he was it was that much more impacting. When his grandfather died... he wasn't sure what death was quite yet. He couldn't understand he was never coming back, that he'd never see him again. He thought that if he waited long enough... he'd come over and visit... like nothing had happened...

Chelsea fought back tears. "I-It... it wasn't easy..." She gave a little sniff. "Kelvin was a big help through it, but... I needed to get through most of it on my own..." She wiped her eyes, moving away the tears that had formed there. "So now, this group is all I have left. You and Kelvin and everyone else... You're all my family now." She gave him a weak smile. "And I'm really thankful for you all..." She moved over to Valcrist and gave him a soft kiss on his cheek.

"We'll be here for you Chelsea, if you even need us. If you even need me... we're friends." He put his hand on her shoulder and looked at her. "I like it when you're happy, when you smile. It makes me smile. If I can ever help you, just ask." He looked traight in her eyes as he spoke, his green eyes meeting hers. He then suddenly broke the gaze and shook his head before looking away, feeling awkward about the whole thing.
"Death is never easy..." He voiced the same thought he had earlier. "I'm so sorry something like that happened to you... if I can do anything... just say so."

Chelsea gave a watery smile to Valcrist. "Thanks a lot Val... it means a lot to me." She rested her head on his shoulder lightly again. "I'm fine right now, but if I ever need anything, I'll be sure to ask you..." She fell quiet for a few moments before speaking again. "You know what, Val? One day, you're gonna make some lucky girl very happy. And I mean that."

"Heh." He chuckled to his self as the archer laid her head on him. It wasn't quite as embarassing as the first time, but he still felt hiding his face. He looked down at the girl, and felt a bit of sadness in his heart. He felt bad over how he caused her to be sad, he felt guilty at how much he enjoyed her leaning on him like this. He took a deep breath and looked up to the sky, the stars still shining brightly. "Somehow... I doubt that Chels."

Chelsea looked up at Val and sighed. "Val, you're a great guy. Any girl would be lucky to have a guy like you. You're sweet, kind..." She gave him a wink. "Cute. Seriously, you'll get someone who will care about you. Probably sooner than you think." She patted his shoulder. "You just have to keep the faith."

"Thank you for that... but I just don't see it happening for me." He smiled to his self. He didn't really want speak about this kind of thing, it always made him feel awkward. It was especially odd coming from Chelsea. He would of expected something like that to come out of his mother's mouth, but from the girl he was with right now... well it made him feel odd. "Though... it's nice that you think so." He laughed. "Hopefully who she is, she'll be as nice as you."

Chelsea gave a little giggle. "Don't worry, Val. You'll find her when you're least expecting it." She laid her head back down on his shoulder. "Then you two can be just like Kelvin and I. Maybe even worse." She added with a wink and a giggle. She reached up and gave his hair a ruffle. "You'll be fine Val. Trust me, I know these things." She gave a knowing nod.
