"Hey, you could always run." Aidan laughed at Saturos' whining. He didn't know what world Saturos lived in where talking ever solved anything, but Aidan wasn't really in the mood to lie down and be executed for the crime of existing. Lyar and Syana looked primed for a fight, and Saturos seemed to be as well, albeit grudgingly. To be honest, Aidan really should of knew better then to try and persuade them into fleeing. That never worked, if anything it made people want to help more.
Aidan was already a criminal with a death warrant on his head, it wasn't like resisting was going make them kill him any harder. Once you're dead you're dead, kinda hard to top it. "This is your final warning. Lay down your arms and come with us. All of you." The woman that had stopped him in the first place held her blade at ready to strike, completely unfazed by the demoralizing efforts the three all tried to take. "Otherwise we will execute you here and string up your corpse for all to see."
Aidan simply glared. No boasting about how he was so superior, no trying to strike fear into their heart. All he said was this: "You talk too much."
She moved to strike, but he moved faster then one would assume... However that wasn't real speed, no rather he moved without hesitation. His form twisted and turned as the blade came down onto him, only for it to catch his steel rather then his flesh. Now she was so close she had no way of dodging, a common mistake made by sword users. They overestimated their strength and speed, and didn't realize just what a good skin of steel could do. They didn't appreciate the deadly range a spear held.
The blunt end of the spear found its way right into the unprotected skull of his assailant, knocking her to the ground and probably with a wicked headache. She wouldn't be getting up any time soon, assuming the spear didn't crack her skull. There was a reason soldiers were supposed to wear helmets. Spinning the lance in his hand, he took a battle stance again, looking at the five other soldiers. If they weren't ready to kill him before... they were now.

"Let's see just how good you are, vagrant," sneered one of the soldiers, approaching Saturos with his two handed broadsword. The myrmidon shrugged.
"That sword is too big and too heavy to be called a sword. It's more like a large hunk of iron," he said, whipping his sword around like a noble who was going to begin a duel. "No finesse and no grace. I doubt your fighting style looks anything like swordsmanship." Saturos took a side-stance with his sword angled towards his opponent's head. The soldier simply scoffed. "I don't need fancy footwork to finish you," replied the soldier to the myrmidon's obvious attempt at teasing.
Grasping the sword firmly in both hands, the soldier swung at Saturos, who in turn easily sidestepped the blow. "Sure, some people can use a piece of metal like that with skill, but it doesn't look like you're one of them," taunted the Etrurian swordsman. "You're doing it all wrong. Don't drop your arm when you swing. You lose half of the power and almost all of the speed." The Ilian scowled before attacking Saturos once again, who once again sidestepped the blow, thrusting his sword into the soldier's shoulder once again.
"And they let men like you become soldiers? You look more like a bully to me," continued Saturos, dropping his guard. "How well do you fight with a gimpy shoulder, hmm?"

As Aidan knocked the one girl unconscious and Saturos was dancing about another soldier who he easily could have killed, Lyar found himself puzzled, and said aloud in a booming voice filled with his oddly childish curiosity,"Oh! So we AREN'T supposed to kill them! Gotcha!" returning the weapons to their places at his sides ( he could have sworn he heard one of the enemies sigh with relief), for it was hard NOT to kill someone with an axe, unlike with a sword or spear. One of the spear men rushed at him, hopping to take his unarmed stance to his advantage, however, he wasn't expecting the behemoth to move as quickly as he did (OOC: not super ninja speed mind you.). Grabbing the spear and yanking it from the man's grasp, he then grabbed the soldier around the waste and slammed him into the ground, crushing the ilian beneath his four-hundred pound frame...and let's not forget the armor he was wearing!
Needless to say, that man wasn't going to be hurting anyone...or walking, anytime soon.

No killing? Buzzkill. Oh well, non-lethal force can be required too, so even more practice. She sized up the soldier in front of her, his sword drawn. He looked built more for power rather than skill. Still, even the big guys have their weaknesses. Well, except maybe Lyar, but he was a tank so it was ok. She watched Saturos' skillful swordplay and Lyar's brute strength. She decided to do a combo of the two. "Watch the blade, big man." She said to the soldier, starting to whip it around in front of her. She started off slow, building up speed as she went. When her hand was nothing more than a blue, the soldier started to move forward. With a grin, she drove, not the blade, but the hilt down onto the soldier's head. Much like Aidan's blow, the soldier crippled to the ground after a sickening thud. "Oops. Should have watched the hilt instead."

Only three left, they went down far too easy. One hit from each person? Ilia may be tight of soldiers, but they weren't that bad. Something was up, he felt like there. Four were unconscious and one was dealing with a messed up soldier and probably couldn't swing his weapon if his life depended on it. This didn't add up, but he noticed some bystanders he didn't see before. They must of been the townspeople drawn out by the commotion, they were cheering the small group on. It was... odd.
A few theories gathered themselves in his head, but now wasn't the time to think. They were still fighting, one of the soldiers was growing closer, but that wasn't what interested him. The other one, a female, she backed away and held her fingers to her mouth. Oh no.
A sharp whistle pierced the air, and what Aidan assumed turned out to be true, a flying horse tore it's war through the air as towards the soldier. Aidan wanted to go after her, but instead the other fighter hurried closer. Jabbing his lance at Aidan's armor plating, not really doing much damage but keeping him at bay, Aidan retorted with his own lance, piercing the man's leg and sending him to the ground. After he fell Aidan followed it up to a butt to the head with his lance, knocking him out. But... by the time he was done with that man, the other soldier had escaped with the fighter injured by Saturos.
This... wasn't a good thing.

Saturos walked up to Aidan, scratching the back of his head. He knew what was going on. "So I'd say our best bet is to get moving," stated the myrmidon, sheathing his blade. "We aren't going to want to be in the same place when they come back with reinforcements." He put a hand to his brow and look up to the sky. It was pretty empty at the moment, but Saturos doubted it would stay that way for long.
He pointed to a nearby alley. "Our best bet is to move quickly and stay as hidden as possible. They've got pegasus riders, so main roads are out. We'll probably have to deal with a bunch of them, considering now we've made them a tad angry." The myrmidon started heading off in the direction he indicated. "You see? This is why I didn't want to fight. We're clearly out-manned."

"Maybe we should see if we can get anything useful from them." He looked at the downed men and rifled through their possessions for anything useful.
"For someone who doesn't fight, you seem to be awfully good at it." Aidan was already ahead of him, he knew what was going as well. That's why he was so worried when he saw that person escaping, don't wanna stick around to be swamped by reinforcements. Now it seemed if he wasn't a outlaw before, he would be now. Dammit, he just wanted a nice simple journey home, but so far he's been roped into a war battle, been forced to fight in the coliseum by some insane man, and now he was a fugitive from the Ilian occupation.
They seemed awfully assure that he was indeed Aidan Lowell, despite him not being in Bern in half a decade and with a new facial accessory. Looks like that time at the coliseum made things difficult in more ways then one. One of the townspeople that had peaked out of their houses walked up to him, it was a young man, no older then twenty it seemed. "Are you really Aidan Lowell?" He asked, but before he even had time to speak another person chimed in for him.
"Yes he is! I saw him at the coliseum the other day!" A little kid smiled and hopped on the balls of his feet. "He was like Bam! Pschk, pow! And he beat up Shadowstep!"
"Timmy, quiet down." An older man standing next to him tried to quiet the kid down. "Sorry, we just got back from Lacuna and he's still excited"
"Just got back? What about the martial law? How did you leave?" Aidan asked, clearly not escaping like he should be doing.
"That's the thing. That happened after we left, like just yesterday it began. Everyone was confined to their houses, I think they knew you were coming."
"Knew I was coming but ho- Oh nevermind, I think I know." He sighed, pressing a gauntlet clad hand to his temples.
"Are you really fighting for Bern's independence?" The young man spoke up again. He looked really... eager. His hand clenched, such a serious look on his face. It was both inspiring and a bit depressing. "I grew up without those Ilian scum breathing down my neck. I'll support anyone who's trying to take them down, especially if their from the Lowell house."
"..." Aidan said nothing. He didn't come to fight anyone, he came to find his sister... But if he knew her, and he did, she was planning on this all happening. She probably set the whole thing up somehow. That might explain why they went down so easy... He sighed to his self. Looks like you got no choice Aidan. You were an idiot to think you could ever leave fighting behind. All that time you spent farming back in Lycia... that was just a fool's dream, wasn't it?
"I guess... I am." He laughed.
"Great! Here, take this." He handed Aidan a wrapped up brown cloth type thing.
"What is it?" He asked while unfolding it, curse his natural curiosity.
"It's a map of Bern. The cities and towns with the most soldiers are circled, and the fastest and safest path to Bern is highlighted." The kid smiled.
"That's... awfully convenient. Why on earth would you have something like this?"
"A man gave it to me, he told me to give it to you when you arrived in town. It was like he knew this would happen."
"Did this man... Well did he have a kind of creepy smile?" He knew who it was already.
"Kinda, yeah."
X. Well that explains a lot. "Thank you." However Aidan has already wasted too much time. If he stood around for anymore talking another group of soldiers would be on their way. With one final look at the small crowd and downed soldiers, and a new map in hand, he headed away and followed Saturos. "Sorry about that, we should hurry."

"Good let's go," replied Saturos, who had stopped to wait for Aidan. Now that they were moving again, the myrmidon decided to respond to Aidan's earlier inquiries. "You know, people practice martial arts for years without any intention of ever doing much more than spar their peers," he replied. "For the past few years, that has ultimately been my modus operandi. I've been living in the woods, living in the mountains, stopping in the occasional town, but ultimately surviving off the land." He shot Adian a quick grin out of the side of his mouth. "War is like gangrene. The only way to get away from it is to cut everything else off, and when I say everything, I mean everything."
Saturos focused on the way ahead, stopping as they reached a main road. He halted and put his hand out as a signal for those behind him to stop, peeking around the wall. There were a few people walking around, but not a soldier in sight. Less people, however, meant less cover, and just because you couldn't see an enemy didn't mean they couldn't see you. With a nod and a sigh, Saturos dashed across the street ducking into another alleyway.
"Hurry up!" he said urgently as he looked towards the sky. Still no sign of an attack. Saturos's eyes narrowed. This was all so odd. Yes he knew about the Ilian occupation, but he thought Ilians were more honorable than this. Were they really just a bunch of money grubbing mercs?

Syana followed Saturos closely, wanting to get out of this place quickly. She had let her emotions get to her in that fight and now there could be reinforcements. Stupid idea. Stupid, stupid, stupid idea. Still fuming to herself, she kept going. She focused on shifting her thoughts from her stupid idea to getting out of this place as soon as possible. At least that fight had been quick and easy. More well trained soldiers wouldn't result in the same thing. This could get ugly.

"Issues seem to follow those who can fight." Aidan replied, something he knew annoyingly well. It might just be because those who fight are more likely to do something, but it still felt like it sought them out specifically. He knew what Saturos said about war, he knew it first hand, but... just the connection Aidan shared with his sister was enough to drag him back in. It seemed that as much as he would love to believe he'd cut everything off, actually doing so was much harder then it sounded.
The rest of the way out of town was met with no resistance, no soldiers, nothing. It was... eerily quiet. A group just took out a small troop of soldiers, this either meant that they weren't getting reinforcements, there wasn't anyone close enough to tell, or what they all thought was wrong...
Aidan put his money on the last one.
