"Woops...", Jade whispered as Grayson clumsily pushed his boot into the mini-fire. Although the fire itself did not light the boot up, the temperature was hot enough to cause the rubber to ignite with the sparks that were being emitted from the flames.
As Jade looked at what remained of the rubber boot, he looked down sheepishly and tried not to show that the incident even affected him at all.
I'll need to practice that so that there is no flame when I produce the heat... I hope his boots and, more importantly, his feet are fine...

Aaron came over, stretching his shoulders into a shrug before relaxing again. "Well Gabriel, some one has to come along to look after you rookies." He smiled a mischievous grin at the other copper-haired mage. Gabriel knew enough to know that Aaron had no real edge on him. It was just a friendly jibe.
Then his nose wrinkled, though he tried to pass it off as nothing. It smelled like there was something burnt nearby. He rechecked his memory. Nope, Aaron had not done anything with fire all that morning. He couldn't be responsible.
"I'm going to take one last jaunt around the city shops, and then I'll meet you on the road alright?"
It wasn't really a question, as he was already off to make sure the rest of his things were packed, and Fable was saddled.
On the way out of town, he happened to pass by an antique shop, and stopped in for a moment. Inside, he found something which interested him. It was a ring, bearing a part of his Grandfather's Crest. He knew that his family had moved west from Pherae. Perhaps this was connected to his heritage.
Impulsively, he put it on, and found that it fit perfectly....
Until he tried to take it off, anyway. Then it seemed a far cry too small. By the time he wrenched it off of his finger, he'd attracted the attention of the shop keeper.
"I'd like to buy this ring." Aaron said to the antique seller.
"Ooooohh... Very old family relic. 1500 gold."
I know.... Aaron thought at the mention of "family relic." My family, or so I believe.
Eventually, after a series of verbal boxing, wrestling and arm twisting, he wrangled the price down to 1000 gold, which still seemed an exorbitant price to the mage, but something in him just insisted on getting this ring. So it was that he headed off. Far shorter on cash, and bearing a strange new ring in his secured pocket. Good thing he'd stockpiled his supplies already.

Sabin watched as more events unfolded. The copper-haired mage that he had talked to earlier had come announcing that the group would leave for bern in an hour. The blonde boy was fixing Grayson's boots. Aaron was talking with the copper-haired man....what was his name? Oh yes, it was Gabriel.
Well Sabin was a bit puzzled. perhaps he'd need to get the rations ready.... he had a bag of bread for himself, but he'd probably want to buy some of the rations for the others.
"Hey you two" calling out to the blonde kid and the hunter," Why dont we buy some rations? Or anything in particular that you would want to buy? We need to get packing in about an hour, so I say we head to the market area."
So they were going to Bern, huh? Well, it was going to be eventful, Sabin knew it. With a civil war going on, it would be fun to tate true battle. Sabin had never been in many land battles, especially with knights. But he knew the sea very well, and he battled a lot in forests and mountains as well. He had never battled in the city, so the experience would be good for Sabin. Sabin didn't mind all of this, because really, he loved a good adventure.

"Binnie, I already have my bag ready. In fact, I was about to set off for Bern on my own anyway if I had never met this group.", Jade replied, conveniently forgetting what he had done to Grayson's boots.
Jade thought about it for a moment, then said, "Well, if you want, you could get me a piece of paper. Thanks, Binnie"

"Kid, stop calling me Binnie. It seems so.....childish! Also, kid, I have not got your name yet. Nor that purple-haired guy's name." he told the blonde boy and turned towards the other guy standing next to him.
"Also, I bet you can go and find a piece of paper for yourself. You're a mage, can't you just make a piece of paper or something?" he said and chuckled. He thought it was a good joke. The other two just stared at him and frowned. Sigh.

"Nope, we can't just conjure things out like that, do you take us for some street conjuror or something?" Jade asked, slightly irritated at the rude tone that Binnie had used.
Jade made up his mind and walked off into the house, into the room that had been assigned to him and Aaron. He dug into his bag, until he got a hold of what he had been looking for, a piece of paper. On it, he wrote a contract between him and Binnie, to enlist Binnie's help in finding his parents. He wouldn't need to pay him now. His parents might probably do that later on.

It seemed that the entire conversation had just skipped over him like some kind of minor distraction, people must be pretty busy and active around here. Perfect, he preferred that. There was something about getting grass stains off of boots, but before he could say anything they burnt them. "Next time use some water, vulnerary, and a touch of orange juice. It'll come right off." He said, his own little homemade recipe. With his clothing, he had to clean them often. Grass stains were just one of the many things he has to scrub off his shoes that were more expensive then the average soldier's blade. "Works for blood stains too." He added with a slight puff of the chest.
The green haired man marched off, and along came a noble that Roland swore he's seen before. He didn't say anything, but the boy was definitely familiar to him. Another Etrurian. He said something about heading to Bern, Bern? Sounds great. A free trip, free lodging, and free food. All his favorite things. Anything that's free is really.
Roland wandered off, looking for the man in blue armor, though the mage needn't tell him what he looked like. Anyone knew the appearance of Rayl, especially when you see his wanted poster everywhere. Dark blue armor, and a long red tassel thing coming off his helmet. Got it. There was a lot of horses everywhere. And there was that dog. Now where was the... ah, there it is. Wyvern. Must be on the right track.
Roland wandered through the ranch, looking around for the man. Finally he found someone who matched the description. That must be him. "Excuse me? Excuse me sir." He walked up to the knight of redemption. "Hello. I am Roland Hawkthorne, are you Rayl?"

Before Grayson could lend a word to the conversation, Aaron, Jade, and the new fellow had departed and he was left with Sabin hoping that he would accompany him to the market. Grayson didn't like this idea. If he left the ranch for any amount of time so close to departure, he may be left behind. With a sigh, he stood up.
"My name is Grayon Pintel of the noble Pintel family. Well met, I suppose." he lazily responded. Grayson's wonderment had begun to fade. He wanted adventure! Standing around waiting for things was an activity he wanted to leave behind. With a look of disinterest plastered on his face, Grayson continued, "I don't think it's such a good idea to leave the ranch. We may be left behind if they decide to head out and we are missing from the grounds."
Grayson wandered off to look for the wyvern. He hoped that maybe seeing it again would lift his spirits a bit.

Rayl was watching various men moving about and readying their things for the trip, though what was on Rayl's mind was the fact that he really should have told Gabriel not to bring so many men...it's not like they were going to war or anything...and entourage of about twenty or so would be just fine...as a matter of fac-
"Excuse me? Excuse me sir."
a soft voice interrupted his tactical thoughts. turning around to look to the man he could only identify as Etrurian, as the man began to introduce himself, Rayl reached out and shook the mercenary's hand," It is a pleasure to meet you, Sir Hawkthorne, and may I say that I'm glad to have you with us."
Rayl was mistaking the man as one of the Etrurian soldiers he'd converted to their forces back in Sacae, as he then looked back to the estate," I'm sure you ate well at breakfast, and I pray your things are ready." regardless, Rayl planned to bring the Etrurian troops with him. It was a risky plan, but he was going to make the statement the Golden Lance had been making the whole time since it's existence: Unity.
"So tell me, Sir Hawkthorne, how does it feel to be in Lycia?" he was trying to make small talk to his most likely confused mercenary acquaintance, as they prepared to leave, though he was also scanning the visible area for a sight of Guinevere.

Well that was easy.
It appears that Rayl has already had a good several men in his employ, and that he assumed Roland was one of them. While it wasn't... exactly true. It was good enough. Since the end result was the same either way. He was working for the blue man now.
"Lycia is a very peaceful land. Not something I'm used to, to be quite honest. I'm used to the religious fervor of Etruria, the chaos underlying the face of order. They say everywhere has a darker side, but I doubt there is few as engrossing as Etruria's." He sort of pursed his lips, in an almost pout, as he shared his thoughts. "But Lycia is... surprising." He repeated, not exactly sure how to put his thoughts into words.
His eyes looked over, staring at a few things as his mouth moved. Horses, people, even a wyvern. "It's much calmer. I saw a man helping another with no ulterior motive the other day. One who did it for no reason but besides the fact it needed to be done. He didn't hold his self up high, self-righteous, using good deeds as a measuring stick of how pure and selfless they are. It wasn't the competition of false modesty I'm used to." He chuckled slightly. "And one I must say I'm guilty of participating in once or twice."
He turned his head and looked at Rayl. He was preoccupied with something else, his mind was not on the man in front of him. So he decided to say something to help catch the man's attention. "Sir Rayl... You are a heretic, an apostate, a wanted man. Just for conversing with you, I would be tried to have my head upon a platter. To be tortured out of every little bit of information I had, slowly skewered and then left to rot once I was spent. But... this is the most worthy thing I have ever done. Thank you, sir, for having me."

Still looking for a glimpse of the golden haired maiden, half listening to what the mercenary was saying, it wasn't until the word 'heretic' that Rayl was reined back into reality. turning his head sharply back to Roland, he let the man finish his odd way of showing gratitude, and couldn't help but start snickering, as he then put an armored hand on the man's shoulder," Heretic, eh? Quite the world we live in when a man who prays to St. Elimine every morning is considered a heretic, isn't it? But tell me then, Sir Hawkthorne, who is more the heretic? The man who forgives his enemies by the teachings of her divinity, or the man who kills his own people from hearing the words of a corrupted Saint, reborn by black magic? Do you not know the true story, friend? Well...perhaps I should tell you: we still have time." with this he whistled sharply, and calmly waited as the massive warhorse that was Elibe came charging up as if from nowhere, already adhorned in it's armor, it's friend's (their relationship transcended Horse and Rider.) weapons strapped to the sides of the saddle.

Guinevere took her eyes away from the animals and landscape to cast an eye over the ranch again. She saw many people she didn't know, but had a feeling she'd get to know at least some of them of this upcoming trip or whatever it was. She still couldn't believe that Rayl owned all this land... Or even moreso that he liked he! It still blew her away every time she thought about it. Speaking of which, where was Rayl...
She heard a loud whistle. Ah, there he was, talking to yet another guy she had no idea who he was. Catching the paladin's eyes, she smiled and gave him a little wink. Moving over to grab the lance she had rested again the fence, she then headed over to her favorite knight. It was probably about time to figure out what was actually going on. Not wanting to interrupt his conversation (this seemed to be happening a lot recently), she came up to his side, attaching her lance to her back and waited silently.

(The support chat between Rayl and Roland concludes around the time Gwen shows up, just an FYI that the support chat isn't entirely done yet, mah boi.)
As Rayl began to wrap up his explanation of past events to Roland, he noticed the glimmer of Guinevere's hair from the corner of his eye and smiled as he finished up his talk with the mercenary," Now, if there's anything you need, Sir Hawkthorne, ask myself or one of your fellows, alright?" He didn't want to be dismissive, especially after the conversation they just had, but he still had things that he needed to do as well: mainly he wanted to check in with the Smithy about a new sword...oh and talk with Guinevere, of course. Though it was, without a doubt, that he was shaken up by the conversation...
...better make that two swords at the Smithy.

Jade went back to the ranch after he had finished writing out the contract he had for Binnie on the piece of paper. At the ranch, he saw the new mercenary that had just appeared get dismissed by the leader of the troupe who went to talk to a beautiful woman with a blonde hair.
Oh well, that's probably his girlfriend...
Jade walked up to the mercenary who was still looking at Rayl and said, "Hey, better leave them alone for now." Then, walking a short distance away, Jade turned around and said, "I don't believe we've introduced ourselves right? I'm Jade, get it?"

Roland saw that Rayl was being called away by a young blond woman. He turned to the Paladin with one of his famous grins, cocking a single eyebrow, but saying nothing. "It's alright, I understand. I'm going to be traveling with you, remember? We can talk again later, if you want. But for now I'll leave you alone. It was nice talking to you Rayl, now go to your woman." He almost felt like teasing the man, if it wouldn't of been in such stark contrast of what they spoke of moments ago. Instead he just nodded and allowed Rayl to go to his pretty young thing.
He saw a short one try to catch his attention, so he turned to the mage-like fellow. Who, suprisingly enough, was probably a mage... You can pick them out miles away, so ostentatious the lot of em. The green haired man before was probably one too. "I'm Roland Hawkthorne, Etrurian Soldier. Well met Jade." That was his story now, and he was sticking to it.
