Richter closed his eyes and Mavick said his piece and left. Mavick didn't know, but Richter had been in the tyrant position before. In Sacae, when he had still been working for Etruria, that's exactly what the Sacaen's had seen "Regional Officer Richter" as, and they had attacked that fort to do what, in their eyes, they must to save their homeland. And what had he done in response? He killed them all; violently and without mercy. That was exactly why he could do this without regret, because he knew this was different from Sacae.
"Take care, Mavick," he muttered, continuing on his way. Hopefully if they met again, it would be on good terms. Now Richter just had to talk to Marle. She probably wouldn't be thrilled that she was losing a sizable part of her potential force, but it was unavoidable at this point. After that, he'd need to talk to Clair and Farlus, seeing as how the man would most likely be fulfilling many of Mavick's duties at this point, to plan the mission ahead.

Garith had returned to the healer he didn’t know anyone in Edessa so maybe the healer could give him some information on where to find Richter. Once he reached inside the building he had been in earlier he noticed that the healer was waiting for him. Garith was still feeling a bit disorientated but the healer had been doing a good job taking care of him. He was actually surprised how fast he was healing just earlier today he was lying on the ground bleeding out but now he was feeling much better. Garith sat in a chair and the healer still waved his staff over him, they did that for a few moments before Garith got back up and asked the healer where he could possibly find Richter.
The healer gave Garith a look that made him feel a bit awkward. The healer knew what Garith was up to and disapproved of it Garith had just been in a terrible accident he didn’t want him moving around much and go off joining some army. Garith smiled a bit at the healer’s concern but told him not to worry he would be fine. He planned on fighting to the best of his ability and not losing as bad as he did before. Garith thanked the healer for all his help and walked out of the building to find Richter, the healer had told Garith he really didn’t really know where he was but Garith should just look around Edessa for him.
Garith did what the healer suggested and started looking for Richter. He began thinking about recent events more so about the two swords he just got. Two swords, Garith had never fought with two sword he’d never really fought anyone while using a sword with his left hand. He’d practiced before but never actually used his left in battle. It would be interesting to see the outcome if he were to use both Fenrir and Uprising in a battle. He thought for now just used Uprising with your left and worry about using both later.
For a few minutes Garith walked around Edessa and then gave up trying to look for Richter. Instead Garith pulled out Fenrir and started spinning it around, it was so light Garith wondered how that was for such a big sword or was it just him. He put Fenrir back into its sheath. Garith let out a small sigh and looked up to the sky wondering when he would find anyone to show him where Richter was. He wasn’t really paying attention to where he was going and he bumped into a young blonde hair woman.
“Oh I’m sorry for bumping into you Ms,” Garith apologized as he turned around. He noticed that there were multiple people standing around in front of a large building. He began to think this woman he just bumped into is someone important.

It took some time, and bit of a headache, but things were on the up and up, as far as things that could be considered. The keep busied itself, stores were being emptied, and carts filled, as well as pack animals were being fixed for transport. Edessa didn't have many soldiers to spare, but what they did, Marle enlisted. She was given the authority as a commander, and inducted the troops to bolster her own force. She wouldn't be able to rely on Richter's troops afterall. Strapping a harness on one of the horses, Marle looked up, and noticed three different pegasus riders take flight, all in the same general direction, but with all different destinations. They would hit up settlements with instruction of her coming army, she needed bodies, and these settlements would provide what soldiers could be spared, or mustered.
It took time, but things were ready, and the Keep's gates opened. The creaking of metal was loud in the morning...or was it noonish now? Time seemed to fly as she was busily administrating. She would need to assign a new second in command, since Arthis would no longer accompany her. Marle could only spare a few grumbles as she dealt with everything single-handedly, so much to weigh and measure. Leading what seemed like a caravan outside the wall of the Keep, she led them down the main road from there, destined for the outside gates.
The commotion she made was more than noticeable, blue armor glinting in the morning light, as heavy boots, wagon wheels, and hooves crunched snow underfoot, and walkway stones, Marle looked around as she led the small contingent of men to those that were already assembled outside the gates, Everything was set. Soon, she would be off to western Ilia once more. Thankfully, there'd be no mountain climbing this time.

Clair stepped deliberately down the road, making sure to keep her footing on the once familiar, now less-so frozen pathways of an Illian city. Even so, she'd have to pick up the pace quite a bit to catch up with Richter. Let's see... She needed to remind him to speak with Marle, in case he'd forgotten about what he'd made mention of before. She would also have to make time for that test she'd been promised from Lord Ethan. What else?
Without warning, Clair suddenly felt an unexpected jolt and was knocked to the side a few feet from it before she managed to catch herself.
"Gah! Will you watch where you're walking?! There's plenty of space to keep out of the way, you know!" She snapped up at the blue-haired young man, though it was the fact that she'd almost fallen over that she was mad about. Drat! Why did everyone have to be so much bigger than her. He wasn't even that big, compared to what the pegasus knight was used to dealing with, but it had still almost knocked her over when she hadn't been ready for the impact!
She gathered her dignity again, and looked up at him. She still seemed a little stern, but had calmed herself down from her momentary anger.
"You should be more careful about where your going." She smirked, or perhaps grimaced, allowing herself to be slightly amused at her own bothersome predicament.
"Otherwise, you may end up crushing someone by accident, one of these days."

In his arms he clutched an odd brown wrapping of cloth, it was long and round, like a giant oval with brown strings wrapping around. He was... a bit unsure of what to make of it. He was intrigued, but scared at the same time, of what might be in it, what this important package was.
Too big to fit in his bag, he had to deal with clutching it in his arms to his chest. Turned diagonally, so he it didn't get in his way, but awkward to walk with. He especially watched his movements so he didn't accidentally crash head first into anyone else, he was making his way back to the inn. Most likely his materials and forge were either there or in the process of being delivered, and it would probably be a good idea to familiarize his self with his equipment.
"Hrm... you look just like your mother. You need to work out more boy, I thought blacksmiths were burly."
"Heh heh... yeah... I get that... more then I'd like."[/i]
He walked closer to the stone walls of the buildings that lined the streets, stopping near what he assumed was some sort of restaurant by the smell. Setting the package against the wall, he readjusted his bag's strap, tightening the belt that held his blade, general stuff. He looked at the package once more, trying to unravel it in his mind, unwrapping it without even touching it. He assumed it was a weapon, as that's the only thing that made sense... Though simply being a 'weapon' is a much bigger deal for him then it might be for a normal person.
"Hrm... Waiting like your mother said you would, good buy aren'tcha? Well well well... lemme see..."
"Is that..."
"Nope, that's for someone else. THIS is yours. And this, don't open that before you open that though, your mother's specific orders."[/i]
The package itself was interesting, but what really caught his attention in a vicegrip was the envelope that he was forbidden to open first. Of course he wanted to open it even more because he was specifically told not to because he was a teenage and screw the rules! Of course he didn't because it was something he'd think about but not do. So the defeated boy instead let out a tiny groan of self depreciation, stuffing the slightly heavy envelope in his jacket, and rubbing his hands together to warm them up. Breathing into them to savor whatever body heat he could muster, it wasn't much. Just as he was about to pick his package back up, something perked his ears. He coulda swore...
Hurrying, and not really watching his self like he should of, he dragged his self and his package to catch the mage who hired him walking away from the commander who also hired him. They were walking away, that one blond girl was there too. Clutching his parcel, he walked closer to witness assault by clumsy footing.
"You guys alright?" Was his first reaction, he wasn't even thinking really, the words just sort of popped out like some kind of curse of polite tongues. "Erm, sorry." He added in a one-two combo of unnecessary comments. Smiling that uneasy smile that always seemed to find it's way on his face.

Richter swiveled around as he heard Clair's cry, only to see her stumbling away from an equally off-balanced blue haired boy. As she gave him her a quick lecturing, Richter also noticed the blond haired blacksmith he'd picked up in the tavern. Valcrist, wasn't it? He was clutching some sort of package. Was it...a mirror? The parcel's wrapped silhouette made it look like one. Anyways, that wasn't particularly important.
"Clair, are you alright?" asked Richter, mirroring Valcrist, though he saw no reason to apologize for the concern. That blacksmith seemed to apologize for everything. Well, at least apologizing for everything was better than apologizing for nothing. Richter eyed the blue haired assailant. The kid was short, at least compared to Richter, and had a massive scar cutting across the bridge of his nose. The commander didn't find him particularly impressive, but then again it was hard to impress Richter.

Garith stood rubbing the back side of his head as the blonde haired woman yelled at him. He noticed people gathering together and Garith felt that he was getting into more trouble that he wanted. He really didn’t know what to say he’d already apologized and he wanted to just walk away now but it would seem rude, maybe she would know to find Richter.
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t paying attention were I was going, see I’m looking for someone and I haven’t been able to find him I forgot what he looked like but I heard he was a commander of some arm,” Garith began as he started rubbing the X scar on his face. He would do that if he felt even a tad bit nervous. Garith only ever got nervous when he was talking to a girl he thought was cute and he wasn’t in a life or death situation.
He wondered who were the other two men, one a blonde haired young man probably around his age and a much older man with strange pink hair and look like he was more stern and cold than the blonde haired one. The pink haired man looked like a military official and that he’d seen his share of battles. The other looked as if he was in possession of something important judging by his grip on the package he was holding.
“My name is Garith Valkyrie and I’m a mercenary who is looking for some work so I figured since I’ve noticed troops roaming about the city I would find the commander and ask him to hire me,” Garith said hoping that the she would help him.

"Yeah, I'm alright. I'm alright." glanced over to Richter, and the young blond-haired man. She didn't even know him, but he'd immediately asked if she was ok. Wait....
Where have I seen him before... Oh, he was at breakfast this morning. A... blacksmith? Looks more like an errand boy right now.
She still gave him and her Commander a quick smile of appreciation. ...Why was he apologizing?
"So, you want a job under Commander Richter? You're aware that we're heading out as soon as possible?" Funny that he'd managed to walk right into him, yet didn't recognize the man he was looking for.
Clair looked back over her shoulders and gave a "Do you want to handle this, or should I take it" look towards her Commander."

He had apologized for butting his self into a situation in which he really had no part in. Which wasn't something he tried to do, but has found his self doing more often then comfortable ever since he left home. For better or for worst. Though by the somewhat bemused looks he got, he realized that it was kinda random. Which, of course, made him wanna apologize for apologize. But that'd be redundant and silly, still he found his self opening his mouth without even realizing. He squeezed out a small 'uh' noise, the kind you make right before you actually say anything. He stopped his self before anything that could really be heard came out, but still he felt embarrassed.
So he closed his mouth right back up and listened as the other people talk. A small smirk appearing on his face as the man explained his situation for some reason, then again he shouldn't talk about sharing his life story with strangers since he did it with Marle not too long ago. Still it the irony was a bit too much and took some effort to hold back laughter, instead he just kind of blew air out his his nose. He wanted to say something, but he stayed quiet like usual. But really, how many pink haired men in armor are just walking around the streets? Also that shield was new, wow, it looked kinda worn. Incredible craftsmanship though, maybe Richter will let him look at it later?

Farlus finally caught up with the rest of the group after losing them. The had apparently decided to move on while he was preoccupied with worrying about when he should offer to replace Mavick. It still wasn't the time, of course. He did, however, need to keep with the party. If he were to have any chance to offer his services, he would need to observe Richter and find a time when he were most likely to accept.
Farlus' brow furled as he watched the scene that unveiled. A clumsy swordsman bumping into Clair, a timid one holding some sort of delivery. This was certainly not the oddest gaggle of individuals he'd involved himself with, but it was up there. The mage adjusted his mantle and stepped back into the group.
"So we are to leave soon? This is quite fortuitous." Farlus' question wasn't necessarily directed at anyone, nor did he expect an answer. It was more of a device to poke his way into the conversation.

"Yes, we're leaving soon," replied Richter to his recently acquired white haired compatriot. "Give me a second, though, I need to talk to you after I settle this." He just kept getting sidetracked, what with the departure of his tactician and this new fighter looking for employment. While Richter tended to be a bit stricter in hiring fighters than he did mages, if the kid seemed like a good candidate, Richter would employ him. After all, it would be best to get as many unofficial soldiers in his contingent as possible as they allowed him more freedom of action.
Richter nodded to Clair and approached the boy now known as Garith Valkyrie. He looked down at the swordsman, a judgmental look in his eye. "The name is Richter Abend," spoke Richter, indirectly answering Clair's previous gaze. "I'm the commander of this little operation. I take it you had no idea what I look like?" The commander paused, giving Garith another once over. "If you can't even identify your potential employer, what makes you think I want to hire you?"

Garith felt a bit intimidated as Richter walked toward him. He felt as if he was peering into his soul and judging him on every little thing. Garith then adjusted the way he was standing, he straighten his back and made a more serious look. Then he remembered the image of Richter that he was shown not so long ago. Yeah, the serious look on his face, the serious tone in his voice and the strange pink hair. Well Garith shouldn’t really be talking he has dark blue hair. This is the man he had been sent here in the first place to find but Garith had pretty much forgotten his old reason of being here and now is focusing on finding a job.
“Well for starters sir I’ve got two years of hard training in Arphen and about 5 years of training before that. You don’t have to pay me much and I’m good at following orders, any job you have I’ll do it and I’ll do it with the best of my ability so you won’t have to worry about a thing from me and I’m a hard worker,” Garith said to Richter. He felt as if he had just told him everything about himself.
“Oh one thing though that might be in your interest to know the man who gave me half of this X on my face is still alive and I plan on evening the score so if I see him or even see someone that resembles him I’m going after regardless of what’s going on around me hopefully this won’t happen during something important,” He added with a somewhat angry look on his face.

Clair stepped aside to make room for Richter as he approached.
When she heard that he'd trained in Arphen, Clair took a closer look to see if she could recognize him. She couldn't, but then, there were an awful lot of trainees coming and going at all times. Also, the majority of her time had been spent training with other pegasus knight candidates. Not trading social spheres.
As Garith spoke, the words seemed to come tumbling out from him. She hid the smile which tried to show itself. Richter tended to have that effect on people these days. He'd not been like that when he hired her, back at Salvation Point. Not as much, anyway....
She wasn't sure what to think about his vengeance hunt for the man that had scarred him. On the one hand, that spirited attitude spoke well of his will power, but few commanders enjoyed hearing that a soldier would go and break ranks, even if ordered to hold. Hopefully, it wouldn't happen during something important indeed.
"Can you fight girls?" Clair spoke up for a couple reasons. Mainly, because it was a valid concern. Where they were going, they wouldn't be facing regular armies which were often dominated by men. Their would be plenty of Bernese women who could kill soldiers just as easily as the men, given the proper tools. Any hesitation could prove dangerous to the force as a whole.
The other reason was because the question probably wasn't commonly worded so bluntly. If he gave off some sort of reaction, that would maybe tell her something. Or tell Farlus something. If he didn't give off a reaction... well, that would tell them something too.

There was a little sigh that escaped from the Nabatan boy, a little sigh and a touch to the forehead with two fingers and his resting on his cheek. Far be it from him to judge anyone, especially considering his very unimpressive exterior, but that last bit the man said didn't really sound like something you should just blurt out to your potential employer. It was like saying 'oh I'll listen to you, but only under my terms' which didn't sound particularly... useful. That seemed like the sort of thing a mercenary should avoid saying really. Then again he wasn't a mercenary, and hey maybe the commander will appreciate his honesty of something.
The female spoke up, about his willingness to attack women. He thought about it for a moment his self, it wasn't really something he put too much thought in. It seemed like an odd question to ask, what really made people less able to fight women then men? Personally, Val would of preferred to stay away from battle and not kill anyone unless it was necessary, be it woman or man. But if it came to it, they were both lives and just as important as one another. Maybe he was just raised a bit differently, or maybe he saw something others didn't see, but it just didn't seem fair to discriminate on genders like that. He'd kill a woman just as readily as a man.
Did... did that make him weird? Is he a bad person? Hopefully it didn't matter since he was just a blacksmith and shouldn't be fighting, though he really really doubted he'd get such a break. Not just because he'd be told to fight, but most likely he wouldn't be able to just sit on the sidelines if anything happened. Be it fight or run like a little coward... again... dammit. "Is... Is that a problem a lot of people have?" He kinda said out of turn. Not that he had a turn, seeing as he wasn't in this conversation. He instantly wanted to apologize for such a thing, but somehow he stopped his self.

Garith rose a brow to the blonde haired woman's question. Could he fight girls? Garith had never really ever fought a girl to the death he'd fought plenty when he was training in Arphen but he never had that question asked before. Now that he thought about it he really didn't have a problem with it he honestly prefer not to fight anyone either gender he'd rather find a peaceful way to do things but if he had to he would.
"I have no issue fighting a woman, if I have to I will I'd prefer finding other ways of dealing with situation like that with any gender by ending it peacefully but if I have to I will fight with no regrets," Garith said somewhat coldly as he turned to the woman. He's attention then went back to Richter he wanted to clarify somethings.
"You probably won't have to worry about me running off though I highly doubt that I'll ever see him again so my full attention will go into my work," He said.
