"I would concur. Bern's political instability may prove useful later, but for now it would be wiser to avoid that route. There will always be other paths open to us." Nayru suspected that if they capitalized properly on the current situation it might be possible to aid and ingratiate themselves with the oncoming new leadership, when Ilia's grasp on it inevitably fell. A coordinated power base would likely be necessary to stop Etruria's advance as well as give humans a chance against the coming shadows, and if they played their cards right, perhaps there might be a way to make it a temporary haven for dragons, as well. After seeing wyverns flying around daily, perhaps the people of Bern would be more comfortable with dragons.
But that was an idea for a different day, one that she suspected Aerious would not approve of in the least. She would have to seriously consider exactly what the risks and benefits of getting involved in that mess would be, as well as how exactly it fit into their plan, before bringing it up to the other dragon. For now - "There are many lessons to be learned from the past, are there not?" Double meanings; Aerious would understand it far differently than Elly, though the spoken words were the same. "Salvation Point sounds like it is worth investigating. Etruria is still poised to drown the continent in mindless fanatacism for their false god, are they not?"
It didn't surprise her in the least that Elly hadn't fought before. Not because she was an incredible judge of character - Nayru held no wild delusions about that - but because trying to imagine Elly in combat threatened to send her into paroxysms of laughter. "I know, Elly, but there are countless bandits operating throughout Elibe. Self-defense is a critical skill to possess and hone if we are to wander throughout the world; it is generally-" She paused, realizing that she was slipping into lecture mode again. "I believe that it is always better to settle a dispute with words rather than blows, but it is the nature of the world we live in that that is naught but an ideal, rather than a fact of life." She smiled at Elly, hopefully reassuringly, though she was not a professional at pep-talking rookie pegasus riders. "Besides, the more you push yourself, the faster you improve. Finding your limits and breaking through them."
