The little boy stuttered as he spoke, trying to avoid actually answering her question. But his reaction told all and made the truth rather evident. Not only was this boy not from Ilia and from Nabata instead, but he was from the place that she'd been considering going for some time now. After he answered, Nax rose and looked around. She waited for a minute or two, making sure that no one was going to surprise them with a sudden appearance before looking back down to the young boy.
As she did so, Solomon would notice a sudden warmth filling the air and golden sparks illuminate the area behind the golden haired woman, igniting and forming a full set of fiery golden wings. "You can trust me on this matter, Solomon." She spoke before letting the wings fade away once more.
"I am a Fire Dragon and you can be sure that I don't intend any harm. But I am curious what you're doing up here. Are you really here to search for your parents?" She crossed her arms now, confident she made her point with the revelation of her true race.

"S-so you're a dragon too?" His eyes were wide, but his smile wider as he watched her show her wings. She wasn't the only dragon he's met to have wings made of fire, still it put him at ease. He didn't know other dragons were out here. It made sense, since his parents were out here why wouldn't other dragons be too, he just never really thought of it. Dragons looked just like humans until they didn't. He couldn't tell at all that's what this Lady was, wow she must older than Solomon! He balled his hands into little fists and pumped them up and down slightly with a giant grin. "I have so many things I wanna ask!" He blurted, not really paying attention to what she said until after she said it.
She asked about his parent again and his smile faded. "I was telling the truth." He started to frown just a bit. "My parents left Arcadia seventy years ago. No one wants to tell me what happened. They just say that they're gone now, and that when I got older I'd understand... But I'm old. I'm plenty old. If they won't tell me, I'll find out myself." His gaze fell a bit as he began to look more disheartened. "Mrs. Kali once told me that my parents were looking for a better place. I didn't understand what she meant though. Arcadia's nice, why couldn't they stay?" Solomon didn't understand, as old as he made himself out to be he was still a child in many ways. He wasn't as dumb as he looked though, and everyone still coddled him like a baby. It wasn't fair. "Didn't they want to be with me?" He said quietly, there's no way Ms. Nax would know the answer to that, but he had to ask anyways. To himself at least.
"I don't know where they went, and they left long before most humans were born, so I can't really ask a lot of people. I don't even know what they look like..." He sighed. "So I guess I have to look all over Elibe."

"Mrs. Kali once told me that my parents were looking for a better place. I didn't understand what she meant though. Arcadia's nice, why couldn't they stay?"
"Well, I suppose you don't really know much else, do you? History is a very complicated thing for Dragons when it comes to this land we live in. Arcadia may be nice, but once there was much grander cities that Dragons lived in." She decided speak up about the past a bit, though avoided any details for the time being.
"Didn't they want to be with me?"
Nax frowned a bit at this question before replying, "I'm sure they did, Solomon."
"So I guess I have to look all over Elibe."
The golden haired Fire Dragon nodded. "I suppose you do. But Humans and Dragons had gotten into a big war in the past. And outside of Arcadia, we really don't get along that well. That's why it's important that we look human like this. Do you understand?" She doubted the child knew better. As young as he looked, she was sure that he was only in his hundreds. But she did remember that old refuge. It was good to know things had went at least relatively well there. As to the child's parents, they were most likely...
She sighed mentally. To tell the child their most likely fate or to let him continue his search? It was a hard choice. For the time being, she could at least try to make him understand the possible inclinations. Maybe he'd continue his search or maybe he'd go home, but either way, the boy's story was disconcerting to Palenax.

"Better then Arcadia? Sounds super cool, wish I could have seen." He said with a carefree laugh. Did the dragons live in big towers? Or maybe there was caves everywhere? What about shinies? Solomon looooooved shinies, they must have had a lot of those. All glittery and golden and pretty. He didn't really understand what she meant when she said 'history was complicated', he knew about the... the... what was it called again? Scowling? The scowling. He didn't really know a whole lot of what it was like to be a dragon before that happened though. Maybe he could see it one day? He wanted to, and he wanted to see it with his parents. Even Ms. Nax thought they wanted to be with him, he'd find them some day he knew it.
"I know. We live in Arcadia to keep us safe. Humans from outside of Arcadia don't like dragons, and if they catch me they'll..." He averted his gaze, biting his lip. "I know to keep myself hidden best I can." Not good enough it seems, Nax caught him super easily. "I hid my wings when you came." He didn't bring them back out though, he was embarrassed since Nax's wings were so cool. "And I'm not supposed to tell anyone about Arcadia, Athos says it was very important that no one knows about it." He fidgeted a bit on the spot as he said that. "Um. I guess I shouldn't tell people I'm from... Nabata anymore. I guess it's easy to figure out then." He was referring to how Nax snuffed him out with so little trouble.
"I wasn't supposed to leave Arcadia, everyone says it's dangerous outside. I couldn't just stay though. Not when everyone was lying to me."

"Um. I guess I shouldn't tell people I'm from... Nabata anymore. I guess it's easy to figure out then."
"Probably not. I figured you out easily because I already knew the place, but sometimes it's better to pretend you're from nearby. It really is important that anyone outside of Arcadia doesn't know." She nodded as she spoke, not exactly trying to lecture him, but it truly couldn't be stressed enough.
"I wasn't supposed to leave Arcadia, everyone says it's dangerous outside. I couldn't just stay though. Not when everyone was lying to me."
"I understand, Solomon. Not knowing what became of your parents must be very hard." She paused, briefly reflecting upon her own family. Her mother had survived the war with Nax, but her father... He had passed far before the Scouring ever came to be. A hero that gave his life against a great evil. He had died a death that many would remember him for. But she still missed her father.
"And I'm sorry that I can't help you with your parents either. There's a chance I may know them from the past, but if you can't tell me more, than I don't know anymore than you do." She frowned, it was a sad truth. She'd known quite a many individuals during her long life time. She may very well know his parents, but without anything to go on, it was a useless guess.

"Um..." Solomon began but trailed off. "Okay, I understand. I'll be better next time." He didn't like lying, but if it was to keep his self safe he sort of had to do it. It wasn't very nice though. He didn't know much about the outside world, Nax knew much more then him, so he listened to what she had to say. She didn't seem to be lying to him, which made him happy, most adults lied to him. He was trying to fight frowning with smiles, it wasn't very effective. "Yeah..." He agreed with her. "They all like to think I'm too young to understand. I am young but... I'm not dumb." His voice fell and lost the fight to the frown for just a moment before rebounding back with a big ole grin.
"You're nice Ms. Nax, thank you. No one listens to me." He brought his hand to his mouth and began to gnaw at his thumbnail, looking like he was trying to think. "I don't know much about them. My mom's name is Yali and my dad is Kirin." It wasn't very much, but he knew his parent's names at the least. Mrs. Kali told him. She told Solomon a lot of things as she grew elderly, sometimes she thought Solomon was someone else. She called him Joshua often, which was the name of her son and not him. That was only near the very end though, it made him sad to think about. But Mrs. Kali told him when she was older that she felt bad keeping things from him his whole life, and told him most of what he knew about his parents now. It wasn't much but... it was all he had. "My dad was an ice dragon like me, but my mom was a lightning one. That's all I can think of right now."

Palenax hummed in thought as Solomon told the Fire Dragon what he could about his parents. His father was named Kirin and had been an Ice Dragon like Solomon was while his mother was a Lightning Dragon named Yali. She began to rake through her memories, trying to recall either of those names. Kirin came to mind a couple of times, but it wasn't exactly in regards to a Dragon by that name, no it reminded her of another creature she'd seen in one of the Outrealms she had traveled to. The name Yali on the other hand...
That one was a bit more clearer after she'd mulled it over. She did remember a Yali in the past and a Lightning Dragon at that. She had only been an acquaintance at best, though. It very well could have been a different Yali altogether still. Palenax sighed after a moment.
"I'll keep an eye out for them, I think I may have known your mother." She spoke up to the young Ice Dragon after a moment more, starting to grin again slightly. It wasn't much, but she would do what she could for him.

"Really?!" Oh gosh, that'd be really neat! Ms. Nax was right, she knew loooots of people. His mom was supposed to be really old, and if Nax is really old then the two may have met. "Do you know what she was like? Was she nice? Was she pretty?" He was excited over what was essentially nothing, but he had less than nothing for so long so going up to nothing was good. He tried to calm down because Ms. Nax probably didn't know much, or she'd already tell him. But something about knowing that she even existed just made it more real. He knew he was gonna find them one day, he was sure of it.

"Do you know what she was like? Was she nice? Was she pretty?"
The golden Fire Dragon chuckled a little bit as the young boy began to perk up. "The Yali I knew was a very beautiful girl indeed. And yes, she was nice as well, though she could have quite a temperament sometimes." She began to rise and look down the road once more. "Come on, we won't get anywhere by just standing around in the road."
Nax could stand traveling with the boy for a bit longer. He certainly seemed like he could use some help, though in truth, the Fire Dragon still wasn't sure if she could provide any.

"Oh, okay." Ms. Nax told him to hurry up so they can get to the next village, and he picked up his feet again to try and keep up. He wasn't very fast, that was always something he had a problem with. Even as a dragon he wasn't very fast, he was stubborn and hard like ice. He wasn't thinking about that though, he was imagining what him mom might have been like. If she knew Ms. Nax, she must have been an exciting person. Maybe she fought monsters? Or maybe she was a doctor and helped sick dragons? He wondered how his mom and dad met, it must have been magical. Like one of those love stories Mrs. Kali told him about, they were always about humans, but that didn't mean dragons didn't fall in love either! His parents loved each other after all.
"Thank you Ms. Nax, it's kinda lonely out here." He looked up at her with a smile. He scurried with his short legs to be walking next to her, the snow biting against his shins in a most pleasant way. He didn't expect Ms. Nax to stay with him forever, people always left. Still he would be happy for the short time since he wasn't by himself. "I'm hungry though, I could eat an entire cow." He said, not figuratively but literally. Even children dragons had big appetites. Him more than many, since as a dragon he was quite big for his age. It was funny because he was so small as a human. H-he wasn't that small though! He was perfectly fine actually, the exact right height he should be!
The village wasn't that far away, and who knew? Maybe his mom and dad were there.

Palenax chuckled as she continued to walk along, tracks in the snow quickly vanishing as they were wont to do in the blowing snow. She'd bet the young boy could eat a whole cow if pressed to. If one thing was as big as the Dragons themselves, it was their own appetites. A whole cow was a pretty standard measure of a moderate portion for draconic meals. Though it seemed like your appetite tended to only grow larger as you aged, she mused.
"Well, I'm sure we can get something to eat once we get to the town."
The winds blew and the snow fell. Ilia was a very predictable sort of place when one decided to travel within it. Practically featureless except for the trees and mountains that were identifiable. Though even those got a bit boring after awhile. The only things that truly broke up the monotony was the varied fortresses of mercenaries or Ilian military outposts. Villages also tended to break up the monotony, but in a fashion they tended to be less about excitement and more about simple, easygoing life. Hardy people used to cruel weather that made the best of what they could. It was an admirable sort of quality.
After some time had passed they began to arrive at the village, a small and quaint town much like many Ilian villages. Some people milled about on daily chores and a couple mercenaries stumbled around drunkenly in the street, celebrating the completion of their latest job. It was a sight one was used to around here. Palenax looked to head to a tavern first, ready to get a meal as well.
"What do you say we get some food first, eh Solomon?"

This town looked just like the last town, just different. It was snowy with houses all close together and arranged very neatly like someone put them in their places on purpose. It wasn't like in Lycia where sometimes things were in weird place, like there was streets but not everything was on the streets. Sometimes there were houses outside of the village all together, with biiiiig fields full of plants for whatever reason. There wasn't many of those in Ilia, most places were in walking distance from one another. He wasn't sure why, but it made it easy to get from one place to another. There were a lot of little house things on the road too, places you trade shinies for being able to sleep in people's rooms, it was weird but a lot of people didn't like sleeping on the ground so it made sense. Solomon slept on the ground a lot, and in trees, sometimes in caves. He could go to one of those sleep houses, but he didn't want to give up his shinies.
They were in the town now, he could hear people making noises and talking and stuff, but he wasn't really paying attention to what they said. He had really good ears, and sometimes he forgets to turn them off. It sounded a bit like someone was singing somewhere, and he heard a handful of words he was told he wasn't allowed to say. It looked like some guy was dancing in the streets, he seemed happy about something. Ms. Nax seemed to know where she was going, she was gesturing towards some building down the street and asking if he wanted to get something to eat. He did. "Yeah." He answered with a simple sort of glee, smiling. He hadn't eaten in a few days, so it was getting about time for another meal. It was always so weird how Mrs. Kali ate so little so many times a day, it made no sense to him. If he tried to eat that little that often... he wasn't even sure how'd that work. Maybe he'd get fat. Then again he's never seen a fat dragon before, can dragons even get fat? Huh.

The tavern that the two went over to was sparsely decorated like many establishments in Ilia, but the fire was warm and the meals were hot. A couple people briefly looked over to the golden haired woman and white haired "child" as they entered, but quickly went back to their meals after doing so. Perhaps a bit odd, but to most they probably just seemed like a mother and her child. Nax sat down at a table with Solomon, a waitress arriving soon after.
"Ah, just give me your biggest meal." Nax spoke with a grin, the waitress was a pretty young girl after all. She then looked over to the Ice Dragon. "What about you, Solomon?"

"Ah, that's probably too much for me. Give me your second biggest meal." If Nax was a full grown dragon, which she must be if she knew his mom (it was hard to tell how old dragons were, there were some his age that looked like adults) then Solomon who wasn't quite there yet should eat something a bit smaller right? That's how it's supposed to work at least, he just hoped that the second biggest mean was still pretty big. Maybe only three quarters of a cow and several chicken, that sounded about right.
There was some people looking at them, he felt a little weird. Maybe it was because Nax was able to figure out him being a dragon so quickly, but it felt like everyone knew now. He bit his lip and looked around a bit worried, but he was probably just being silly. No one knew, right? After all, dragons looked just like humans in their human form, right? He looked up at the waitress who seemed... shocked for some reason. Looking at Solomon she questioned. "Are you sure kid? Don't you want something a little... smaller?" She asked him. Was that what was supposed to be 'normal'? He was feeling really self conscious now.
"M-Maybe something smaller." He gave in and the woman nodded and walked away.

He received his depressingly small meal, and ate it in mere moments. It was a single plate, half filled, something the surely fit his form but didn't fill his form. It did little to assuage the gnawing hunger grumbling within, and only drove it more ravenous. It was like some miniscule appetizer that only reminded him how hungry he was, rather then anything actually filling. He'd have to go hunt some food later, in the forests humans don't care how much you eat. Maybe he could catch a cow. There was wild cows right? If not, well it'd just be a lot of... What's in the icy places? Rabbits? He'll eat a lot of rabbits. It was weird, he ate more than a human his size should, but it never really affected him. Never got fat or anything, he's looked the same for several decades now actually. He hated being small like this.
He spent some time with Nax, he wasn't sure how long. Time got away from him sometimes, in all honesty he wasn't even sure how long ago he left his home at this point. A few months? A few years? They felt so similar, he wasn't aware of how time passed sometimes. He had to go out of his way and focus on it to really feel it. Sometimes it passed so fast, others is passed so painfully slowly. Or pleasurefully slow, if that was a word. Was it a word? Anyways it depended on what he was doing and the company he kept. Either way, it somehow felt like it was never enough. Maybe he was just greedy, who knows? In the end he parted ways with her however, and once again he was alone. His first dragon friend outside of Arcadia, he'll remember her fondly. Maybe they'll meet again?
He couldn't stop though, he needed to find his parents. Who knows where they could be?
