Waiting for Sarria and Oichi to finish speaking about the original topic before she began to plan out her own response... If it's about how someone trains, it wouldn't be right to speak extremely badly about such things, one could take it to heart. Upon working out what to say, however, was when she heard the request for her to help with training, needless to say, Amaria was quite surprised, fighting from horse back and from the air, surely there are significant differences with how that can work.
Eventually deciding on what to say, Amaria finally spoke. "Well... About the fencing, it does make sense in a number of ways however, not every bit of practice has to be done against a live opponent to work on the components of one's offensive capacity, even alone, one can work on the execution of their attacks, different variations, and many other matters to do with battle." Amaria spoke, giving her view on the idea, after which, she prepared to respond to Oichi's response.
Upon being prepared, she gave her answer. "As for helping with training... Well, fighting from the air and from horse back is different, different matters have to be taken into account when airborne than on the ground... And although the basic principle is the same when it comes down to the lance, differences can mean what can be done by one cannot be done by another... but... I guess I could try" Amaria spoke towards Oichi, even if things are different, it could help make up for embarrassing her earlier.

"Oh I see, tactical withdraw, that makes more sense now." Sarria didn't know what those words meant exactly, but she figured it would be better to just agree with Oichi than argue about something like that. "Sorry to embarrass you, I was just a little excited to see people in so long. I've been on the road for about a month now I think, but you two are the first girls I've seen in a while, it was starting to get boring. I think it's cool that you really do know how to fight real people, just try not to hurt yourself. It's a little dangerous, I'm pretty sure." Healing was such a bother most of the time anyways.
She decided to hop off of Jewel for a second and stretch her legs out. She had definitely been on that horse for too long, her behind was sore from all the bouncing. "Jewel, you need to figure out how to run without making me need to throw up. It's getting annoying." The horse said nothing in return, but was eyeing her staff instead. "Oh? You want to play Jewel? Okay, I guess we can for a little while they're talking about stabbing things." She waved her staff in front of Jewel's eyes and then threw it away as hard as she could, the pony running after it quickly. "Always wanting to play when we're meeting new people..." She shook her head as Jewel came back with the staff in her mouth and retrieved it from the pony.

"I see", spoke Oichi as she let off a big sigh. The flaw in her training was so obvious. She only knew how to react to moves she had already seen. She could not imagine the variations she had no idea about or the different movement patters of different opponents. It was a flawed training process. Oichi was getting no closer to becoming stronger that way. "I think I understand what you are saying Amaria", spoke Oichi.
The maiden of war went on to explain how she would not be able to teacher her how to fight with a lance since the two of them used different mounts. Once again her explanation made sense. Oichi was starting to look the fool in front of a real warrior. She knew very little about the battlefield and knew not where to get information. Still the maiden did not loss heart. If she could not teach her how to fight on the back of a mount then she could show her some pointers from the ground. There was always going to be a time when you have to fight without your horse or your Wyvern. Ground Lance work was just as important as mounted training. "Well then", spoke Oichi as she once again turned toward Amaria. "Can you show me how to properly fight from the ground then. No mount means no difference in style of fighting", spoke the maiden.
As Oichi asked her question her eyes wondered to the side and saw Sarria playing with her horse. She had no idea horses played fetch. It was a strange ritual to her, but then again all horse were different. Oda seemed to take pleasure in stomping small animals into the dirt. Oichi was sure that was not a normal behavior of a horse so to each mount their own. "That is a neat trick", spoke Oichi to Sarria. "I wonder if I can get Oda to do that", she spoke as she looked down at her horse. Oda did not even dignify that statement with a response.

Sacae's seas of grass were a much more hospitable environment than Ilia's wintery fields, and Shard had to wonder if he wouldn't end up staying in these lands for a while just for the weather. His medium length blonde hair stood out against his red cavalry armor, which he had purchased in the small village he'd set out from two weeks ago. His war-horse, Jasper, had a ruddy red coat to match his rider's armor, and a sassy nature that complemented Shard's dry sense of humor. His iron sword swung from its sheath on his saddle, and the matching lance he tucked under his arm as he cantered through the endless viridian plains.
Coming up over a hill, Shard surveyed the scene in front of him. A trio of what looked like soldiers from this distance, and one of them apparently was a wyvern rider! Slowing Jasper to a trot, Shard urged his mount a bit closer. As he looked, he observed that the soldiers were three females, two of which were apparently discussing something related to weaponry, and the third looked to be a noncombatant, a healer. They didn't seem hostile, at least, not yet.
Shard didn't know if it was such a good idea to boldly ride down to meet the trio, so he debated it in his head for a moment. On the one hand, they could be bandits. Pretty, deadly bandits. On the other hand, it had been quite a while since he'd seen anyone else on this road, and his gregarious nature craved human interaction. Curiosity won out, and Shard turned Jasper's head towards the trio, strapping his lance to his mount's side to avoid looking aggressive, but keeping a hand close to his sword hilt just in case they attacked him.

Bring quiet while the two spoke, Amaria began trying to remember the meaning of what was being said... tactical withdraw, isn't that when you retreat whole still dealing maximum damage to the enemy? How did she do that purely with a lance? Probably shouldn't be questioning this, those aren't matters for me to be concerned about, it's not like one is going to happen right this moment right? Anyway, back to the more significant matters at hand.
When asked about training on the ground, honestly, Amaria wasn't all that certain... It's not been too long since she had finished at the academy, and surely there must be some sort of difference between how a individual from Bern and an individual from Illia fights. Beginning to pick out her words to say as a response. "Well... To be honest... I'm probably not the. eat person to be asking for training, I only left Illia today, and only with training from the academy, finding a veteran trainer would probably be the better option... That and... I'm much better in the air than on the ground" She spoke as a reply, finding herself trailing off a decent amount of the time due to trying to carefully pick what was being said.
Watching what was going on first with the small horse, Zephyr seemed silent, when in reality he was just growling quietly, why make such a fool of yourself. It was at this point, he detected the red amongst the green, easilly spotting the cavalier and horse that were at a distance. He began to growl fiercely, as if for it to be a warning if they did come close.

Sarria pattted Jewel's head softly, thanking her for returning the staff. "Is Oda your horse, Oichi? I don't know if she could, she looks too bulky. Anyways, my horse Jewel is very well trained, she's one of a kind." She smiled at her horse, who just stares at her blankly. Even animal people would have a hard time telling what the horse was feeling exactly. Sarria wiped the saliva off of her staff and spun it around again. "Jewel is so cute!" she exclaimed happily. "I couldn't ask for a better horse myself. Although, I guess she's not as fast as your horse, so maybe I could ask for a faster horse..." Jewel now looked as upset at that comment as a horse could.
She looked over at Amaria when her academy was mentioned. "Hey, I'm straight out of school too, I was glad to get out of it as quickly as possible though. I think my dad sent me there just to get me out of the house." She followed the wyverns gaze when it looked away from her horse. "Oh, another traveler..." she said, watching yet another adventurer come up to join them. "Don't freak out this time, okay Oichi? There's two of you and one of him now." She said, leaving herself out of it for quite obvious reasons. "Besides, your horse is fast. You'll be fine if he turns out to be a highwayman come to steal all of our money and possibly injure us in the process."

"The academy", spoke Oichi with some surprise. She did not know that Ilia had a Wyvern Knight training school. She was sure they mostly trained pegasus. Wyeverns were the thing of Bern knights. She guess the nation was trying to take control of Bern and decided adopting the Wyverns was a good way to assimilate into Berness culture. Still the idea of going to a academy to train was a bit foreign to her. All of the fighters she knew were trained in a apprentice system in Bern. Wyvern Riders would work under a master and learn how to fight and once they reached a level of skill they themselves would become Wyvern Riders. The same was for swordsman and axe fighters. It was another cultural difference that Oichi had no idea of.
"I had no idea that Ilia had Wyvern academies", spoke Oichi. "I think I might see a difference in fighting culture", spoke the woman. "Most of the people in Bern learn to fight in a apprentice system. Most of the time they learn from their fathers or mothers, or if they can not teach them they become a squire to somebody who can. That is usually how the Wyvern Riders work in Bern".
Suddenly Oichi attention was turned toward a new person entering the trio's space. This stretch of grass was quite popular today. Already Oichi had meet two other people and now it was possibly a third. She wondered if this was a special spot or something. Still everyone else seemed to be a bit on edge with the appearance of a new man. Oichi on the other hand saw how he moved his lance and took it as a sign of food faith.
"That was a one time deal Sarria", spoke Oichi as she tried to sit in a dignified pose. Her embarrassment could be seen by the blush on her face. "I don not freak out when I meet new people. You two just caught me at a bad time", spoke Oichi. The maiden attacked her iron lance to Oda's saddle and rode her horse up to Shard leaving the other two behind by a few feet. "Greetings", she spoke in a cheerful tone.

As Shard rode steadily closer to the trio, he could hear the wyvern growling a warning to its master. This was hopefully not a sign that the winged beast would turn and attack them. Jasper's ears were pressed back, as if to signal that he was a bit uncomfortable with coming that close to a dragon. Shard reached a hand down under Jasper's chamfron, or faceplate, and rubbed his long nose to steady him. The destrier snorted, as if expelling all of the nervous energy it had built up. Shard smiled as he straightened up again; apparently, his bond with the war horse was growing stronger.
On approach, he could now study the trio quite clearly. The wyvern rider obviously looked to be the strongest of the lot, as there was a certain level of nerve required to ride and train a beast like that. His own cross-training with his sister's pegasus had taught him more about flying mounts than the average hedge knight would glean by watching them. One of the girls had a healing staff, or at least it looked like a healing staff. Perhaps it was something that would unleash a nasty status effect on him, but it looked like its wielder was calm and relaxed for now, so the Troubadour took a back seat on his mental list entitled, "Things That Could Possibly Be Fatal". The last one, a female lance wielder, had turned to face him. In fact, by now all three had clearly noticed him, and he was within distance for a ranged attack if any of them had the inclination. The one closest to him had just made the first move, riding closer to him and hailing him.
After a tense heartbeat, Shard closed the gap between them, keeping both hands clearly visible, as well as what could be called a wry smile on his face. It seemed like this would go better than he'd thought. Speaking of his thoughts, they momentarily strayed into thinking about how very lovely the rider in front of him was, but the mental discipline that accompanies military training snapped his mind back to itself after a millisecond. Focus, rocks-for-brains. He was suddenly very self conscious about the way he looked: Was his armor too dusty to be counted as presentable? His hair too wild after riding all day to be considered decent? These thoughts too, he banished with a mental flick. There were certain protocols of speech that Shard had been trained to use when dealing with ladies, especially when their social rank was unclear. He always preferred to be more courteous than might be necessary, just in case he was unintentionally addressing a noblewoman. "Greetings to you, milady. And to you all, miladies." He addressed the other girls, who were behind the forward rider. Shard knew an introduction was in order. "Forgive my boldness, but my curiosity got the better of me. My name is Shard, knight errant of Ilia." He dipped his head and touched his brow in the proper way, but he couldn't help but keep a smile on his face. "I've been traveling along this road for a good long while without seeing anyone, so I pray your indulgence if I've intruded upon you."

Zephyr was still growling aggressively towards the horse and it's, although at this point, it seemed to be even more aggressive, it didn't seem as if he liked the man at all, despite him trying to be polite. Hearing the growling, Amaria ran her right hand along his back in order to get his attention, at which point he noticed, but he was still growling for the moment, that was, until Amaria spoke. "Zephyr, based on his mannerism, I doubt he means any harm... I know you aren't the fondest of males, but... Can you please leave it be this time?" Amaria asked her Wyvern, her tone soft and gentle as she did so. Zephyr, merely bowed his head and ceased growling, instead becoming pretty much silent.
Now looking towards the new individual, Amaria began studying him for potential threats, just like she did with the other two. A sword, and a lance... Well, the sword would be a disadvantageous choice if he did attack, considering lances typically outmatch a word in an even fight. If anything, the weapon to be the most concerned about would be more the lance.
Carefully picking out her words, Amaria spoke towards the man who called himself Shard. "I'm sorry about Zephyrs aggression towards you, he isn't all too fond of males... I'm Amaria, an Illian traveller, and this is Zephyr" She spoke in a polite tone towards the man, being careful to avoid saying anything that could potentially be taken as offensive.
Zephyr, although silent, was ready to act at any given time if needed, orders are orders, no matter the situation.

Sarria smiled and waved at the newcomer Shard, speaking in her soft but excited voice, "Hello there Shard, my name is Sarria. Um... healer." She said, trying to counter his title with her lack of one. "I'm totally fine with meeting more travelers, but just to warn you, don't try anything funny, okay?" She patted her staff against her palm, in a semi-threatening, semi-joking way. Even though she had just met these women, she had already become fairly protective of them. In school she never got any friends, because she wasn't too interested in magic and they were, but she was going to try to make friends out here, it never hurt to try.
"Anyways, where are you going? You look like you have a bit of a purpose. I'm just wandering without much to do at the moment. I got my wish of getting away from home, but I haven't really had much to do so far." She looked around the wide plains, half-expecting more horsemen or a merchant caravan to show up within the next few minutes now. "Pretty odd to just find people in this huge place out of nowhere. Do any of you have actual destinations?" Sarria asked this mainly so that she could piggy back off of one of them and get somewhere. Being in the plains was fun and all, but she didn't have a source of food readily available to her once her supplies ran out. Also, it wouldn't be the smartest thing to just trust that Jewel would somehow get her to a village. She was smart, but even horses aren't psychic.

"Hello there Sir. Shard", spoke Oichi as she looked back at the rest of the group. Shard seemed like a nice person and since he was not attacking them he was not a bandit. Still sitting out in the middle of nowhere was not a thing Oichi should do. It would not be long before somebody with ill intentions came along.
"Actually now that you mention destinations Sarria", spoke Oichi as she remembered something. "I was planning on going to this tavern that was not far from here. It was called the The Spoiled Princess. Despite the weird name it is quite the charming place. There is a lovely fountain there and this charming garden just outside. They even have a stage for performances. It is a really nice place. Why don't we all go there and I can buy you all a meal as a apology for the trouble I put you all through earlier." Oichi gave off a war smile as she thought about the place. It had been a while since she visited the Spoiled Princess. The last time she went she was with her mother. It was there for the first time she had seen a Bard and where she decided that she too was going to join the profession. That building held some found memories for her and she wanted to relive them.
"Of course you can come as well Mr. Sharp", spoke Oichi as she turned to their new companion. "However you are going to have to pay for yourself. I am not really made of money."

The tension in Shard's shoulders was suddenly noticeable, and he gave them a quick roll to dispel the stress that had built up. Jasper seemed more at ease now, bending down in the middle of their conversation to eat a patch of grass. It was still a bit unnerving that the wyvern had a grudge against the male gender, but it seemed to be responsive to its mistress' directions. Shard was aware that Amaria was still sizing him up, seeing her eyes traveling across his weapons and armor. Smart move, even though he had no intention of using them. Then Shard heard where she was from, and his interest was piqued. "Oh, you're from Ilia, Amaria? It's always nice to meet someone from the homeland. A tiny bit too warm here for true comfort, aye?"
Shard turned to face Sarria, acknowledging her with a nod. The healer looked like a fairly good-hearted person, but Shard had a strange feeling that he'd have to watch out for his shins around her. He supposed that from her display of humor so far, she could take a joke, so he decided to roll with it. "How do you do, Dame Sarria umm Healer?" His smile settled into a playful grin as he shifted in his saddle. "I won't try anything funny, unless being funny-looking counts." He rubbed the back of his head ruefully at the question of destination. "Well, truth be told ladies, my lance is always for hire, and I'm looking for a hamlet or town where I can find folks in need of good steel."
At Oichi's words, Shard laughed aloud, his smile flashing bright as he swept the hair from his eyes with a twist of his head. "To be sure, what kind of knight would I be if I expected maidens to pay my way? I'd be glad for the company, and any destination that has good food, good ale, and good song is a worthy one. In fact," he said as he felt at his side for his coin purse, making sure it was still there. "I'll buy the first round of drinks when we get there. Err, that is," he said, the red tint in his armor beginning to find a match in his cheeks. "If that's something you'd like..." He trailed off as a snort from Jasper caught his ear, and he looked up. Over the hill behind where he and his new acquaintances were situated, the distant shapes of men could be seen. Shard knew the outlines of axes and swords when he saw them, and from the way they moved steadily on foot over the sweeping hilltops, there could be no mistake: Those were bandits. "I believe we have company..." he said, turning his horse to face the man-shapes on the hilltop and pointing. They were about to get closer still.

letting the conversation play out without joining in, Amaria payed close attention to what was being discussed... a suggestion of somewhere to go, a place which didn't seem to be the worst sounding place, for certain it seemed to be a good place to go based on the description, just because one is travelling doesn't mean one can't have breaks in-between trips. "Yes shard, I'm from Illia, and honestly, the temperature doesn't really affect me all that much right now, it's not as if this was Nabata... speaking of destinations, right now, we're just travelling, taking a look at the different regions, better to see such things with ones own lies than know them only due to tails spread by others, which could be inaccurate" Amaria spoke, finally finding a point in which to join into the conversation that wouldn't end up interrupting anyone else.
Now paying attention to the part in which it sounded as if they were trying to be humourous, a faint smile formed on Amaria's face, these people don't seem to be all that bad at all really, sure, she didn't know them all that well, but they seemed nice at first glance... maybe they'd be a nice group to travel with as time went on... as long as Zephyr doesn't try to become overly aggressive due to Shards presence... that's a viewpoint Amaria still had to take into account, Zephyr's her friend and companion after all, it wouldn't be nice to leave him entirely out of the equation.
As Shard pointed out the presence of more people though, the faint smile immediately faded, as Amaria and Zephyr looked in that direction... bandits from the looks of things, and it looks as if there are more of them than there are of us... perhaps they could be outmaneuvered somehow. Zephyr began growling fiercely, immediately catching Amaria's attention, causing her to begin to quietly speak with him. "Zephyr... do you want to help... or... should we go... your choice?" Amaria pretty much whispered to her wyvern, which found itself shaking it's head first, and then nodding afterwards... he wanted to avoid the situation entirely, since it would probably be easily avoidable really, considering they appear to be purely ground bound bandits, well, from first glance anyway, and surely it'll be harder for them to follow, so escape was a sensible option.
"Okay... let's go then" Amaria spoke to her wyvern, tone gentle in nature, after which she took ahold of her lance, at the very least we could take out one before leaving, to provide some form of support to the others. Beginning to take flight, Zephyr flew right towards the bandits, with Amaria preparing to thrust forwards with her lance, in order to attempt to impale one of the bandits, using her own strength and the momentum of Zephyrs flight... it turned out to be successful, with one of the unsuspecting bandits impaled through the chest. After this, Zephyr rapidly gained height and began flying away, quickly getting out of sight.
Amaria let off a sigh as it appeared the two had gotten far enough away in order to get out of the bandits range... where to next? Bern maybe? Letting off a simple, Amaria gently ran her hand along Zephyr, in order to get his attention. "I suppose we should get going... how does Bern sound to you?" Amaria spoke to Zephyr, tone kind and gentle in nature, at which point he just nodded and began flying in the requisite direction.

The conversation seemed to be going well and it looked as if Oichi might be able to show off her singing skills, but then everything turned sour and sour fast. Upon on a hill they appeared, brigands, or at least they thought they were. With their weapons no longer on their holsters it was almost certain. These men were not here for pleasant conversation. They were not here to have tea or to chat. They were here to pillage and plunder and with that in mind Oichi did not like the idea of taking them on. Oichi was far from a capable fighter and Sarria was a healer. The only two real fighters were Shard and Amaria.
"I think it might be wise to retreat", spoke Oichi. As the words left Oichi mouth Amari took to the sky and brought war to the bandits. At first Oichi thought she might have thrown them all into a fight, but soon she realized that Amaria herself was leaving. She had done the courtesy of taking out one of their pursuers before hand. It was a kind jester as Amaria's mount could have been injured in her attempt.
Now firm in her decision Oichi grabbed the rains of her warhorse and turned it around. "We should all retreat", she spoke. The timid tone that was there beforehand was gone and a more stable commanding voice was all that was left. She was her father's daughter and she knew how to handle herself in a dangerous situation. "I don't know how many bandits are amass behind the hill, but they know we are on horse back. The fact that they are staying on the brim of the hill is a move to encourage us to strive forward and attack. We should head for the village I mention earlier and pray that the enemy does not give pursuit."
Tightening her grip on her lance Oichi thought back to the words her mother spoke. She remembered the story she told of the bandits of sacae and how they lured a squad of cavalries to their death with a similar attack. If the bandits were showing their hand then that meant they probably have forces waiting to ambush them. Oichi is not her mother. Her mother was strong brave and courage. Oichi just a bard from a little village trying to imitate her parents. Still she did not want to see her or her new friends die in this situation.
"Sarria you should go first", Oichi spoke as she looked at the maiden. "Your horse moves slower than ours and you will need protection. Me and the sir Shard will cover you", she spoke as she sent her horse into a trot. Oichi had no idea what Shard had on his mind, but she wanted to force the group into a decision. There was no better way to do so than to already start moving.

Sarria hopped back up onto Jewel's back the moment she heard the word "retreat." The new knight already had her on edge, but the thought of real attackers really made her hair stand on end. She watched Amaria fly up and charge the bandits, only to fly off without them. "Traitor!" She yelled after her. "I thought we were allies!" The first person she could connect with that she met since starting her journey, and they ran off, leaving her and the other two to their fate. This didn't really bode well for the rest of her journey. What use would it be if everyone she met left her to die?
At Oichi's command, she turned Jewel around away from the bandits and kicked her into full speed, getting away from the two as fast as she could. "You don't have to tell me twice, Oichi, but I better see you soon. Get out of here if it's too much for you!" As soon as Jewel was on the right path, Sarria turned in her saddle to watch the battle behind her. She really didn't want Oichi to get injured, the sweet girl seemed a little sensitive. Also, Sarria really didn't want to see blood. The last time she did was during her healing final at magic school, and she only threw up three times during that test. Being a test, it was a bit more extreme than one would usually find, but it still made her worry. She watched carefully, biting on her staff from nervousness.
