Suddenly as Aeos began to talk about flight and wind Euphemious face turned sour. If he was a few shades lighter you could see the color leaving his face. The knight's eyes gave enough information about what he thought about flying. "Umm, I am kind of afraid of heights", spoke the Knight. "Me and high places have never been a friends. Sure I can stand on top a castle wall and over look the surroundings, but looking straight down, no thank you. I just get dizzy thinking about it. All it takes is one slip and bam! No more Euphemious. I flew on the back of a Wyvern once, not a good feeling. It was part of a mission so I did not complain, but I do not wish to do it again. Even more so on the back of a dragon. At least Wyverns have saddles. Dragons have none. I will just keep my feet firmly planted into the sand thank you."
"About the desert", spoke Euphemious quickly trying to change the subject. "Nothing personal Aeos, but nothing is separating me from my armor. This hunk of metal has saved my life more times than I can count. Besides I heard the desserts of Nabata are dangerous. I am going to need my armor more than ever there. Sure it is going to get hot, and my armor will heat up. However I can just wear a cloak and bring more water, problem solved."
"Onto more serious matters", spoke Euphemious as he stared the dragon in the eye. His face showed a level of concern not seen yet in any of there conversations. "So far which city in Bern has the best pie. I have always been found of pie and I would like to know from your opinion which one has the greatest combination of crust, taste, and sweetness." Thorough out the entire phrase Euphemious kept the same seriousness as he had with the stair.

His laughter died down into a slight chuckle then silence. It seems that Euphemious had flown once before on the back of a wyvern. Aeos had never seen a wyvern before, all that he knew as that they were large winged creatures that were smaller permanent dragons. But then he put a serious expression when the knight spoke about not loosing his armor in the desert. How he could remedy the heat with a cloak and water.
"Are. Thou. Insane." He paused at the end of each word. He was shocked.
"Thou has no idea how fast the heat saps thy strength. The heat and sun oft the desert will kill thee. Countless people have died in the desert sands simply because they underestimate the heat. Thou must dress lightly and avoid black. Thou can die in a day due to lack oft water. A simple cloak and larger water do not solve the problem! I do not wish to bury thee." He was being completely serious. Aeos didn't want to see Euphemious buried in Nabata. He didn't want to see Euphemious die at all but if given the choice at least have him buried in Bern. He sighed. He had gotten himself all worked up fussing over the dangers of heat exhaustion.
With that out of the way Euphemious then looked him dead in the eyes and asked about pies. Aeos smirked softly and pulled out his journal. Then flipped over to the list of places where he had eaten pie. So far it was a pretty long list and it incorporated places outside of Bern.
"Hate to say it but this little border pub outside of Bern near Lycia that ranks the best Apple pie."

"Oh come on it can not be as bad as you say it is", spoke Euphemious as Aeos spoke of the heat. Then again it was called the desert of death. Many of adventure vanished in the sea of sands. "Well it could be as bad as you say it is", spoke Euphemiious as his mind recalled all the horrific tales that came back from mercenaries and merchants. "Still how am I going to fight without my armor. I have been training in it since I was a little boy. I don't even think I can to tell you the truth", spoke the knight as he began to think on battle. There were so many attacks that he was trained to deflect using his shoulder pads. So many moves that were only useful as long as you were wearing a wall of steel. Without it Euphemious was as lost as a babe in a forest. "How about lots of water", spoke the knight as he attempted to figure out the logistics of traveling through a desert while wearing full plate armor. Only a knight from Bern would wast time thinking on such things.
"As for the pie", spoke Euphemious as he circled back to the most important conversation. Aeos had said something that bother him, but he waited till he had a moment to argue over his armor to bring it back up. "There is no way a Lycia pub could have better Apple Pie than Bern. It is just impossible. Bern is practically the home of apple pie! You can go to almost any town and order one. Have you tried the one in the capital. The apple pie there is divine. As a matter of fact you must try the one in the capital. There is no way you can call yourself a connoisseur of apple pie if you did not. If only I had the free time. I would take you there myself and let you judge with your own tong", spoke the knight with superior passion.

"Yes. Yes the desert is as bad as it is. Sandstorms be killer. If thou do not know how to survive the desert thou will die. I am serious. No armor. Perhaps in the port city you could survive since there be trade and water source." Aeos knew the dangers of the desert. Dehydration, heat, venomous animals, mirages, low food, truly if one did not know what they were doing the desert would claim their life.
"But it be a long walk from the lycian border to the southern port town. If thou can handle a ship then the ride fromth port Badon be good. Tis be how I traveled away fromth the desert." Aeos recalled the time he spent on the ship. He became well acquainted with the ship captain and his knack for reading the weather saved them from many bad storms.
"I be telling you. That border town had the best Apple pie I hath so far. I have not been to the capital yet. So perhaps maybe. But good pie be good pie. The crust from that inn be so good. And the filling! They use dual apples. Both red and green. Tis be delicious. Perfect mix oft sweet with a tint oft sour. Twas good." He rubbed his stomach. It was making a bit of a gurgly noise as if wanting more pie.
"Mm.. I am craving it. I'd fly to that in and request some this instant if I could." He sighed.
"Perhaps I should settle with some roasted fish. This stream be good to catch some." He looked up at the sky.
"How long hath we been out here speaking?" He asked. The sun was now starting to set.
"Soon thy group would wonder where thou hast been. Perhaps rumors oft lady romance." He smirked.

"Oh crap it is late", spoke the Knight as he rose from his seat. "Well I have to get moving. Me and the boys are suppose to stay in the inn for tonight and then get back to the boarder. I would tell you more but I would have to kill you", spoke the knight jokingly as he began to walk away. He was not sure when the next time he would see the dragon, or if he would ever see him. Life was strange like that. The knight stopped for a moment and reached into his bag. He pulled out a knife, a small little thing with a symbol of a phoenix on it. He then tossed it to the young dragon. "Take that, as a sign of friendship. It is a old dagger baring the seal of the Lowlander Family. It has no monetary value, but it will serve as a good sovereign. If you ever find yourself in the province of Phoenix Falls give that to any inn keeper. They can direct you to a place were you can stay the night. Just tell them that Euphemious sent you", spoke the knight as he walked away and moved into the woods.
"Alright I guess I am going to need to come up with a excuse", spoke Eupemious as he treked once again through the woods. He was sure the guys were going to give him a hard time. They were already insinuating things between him and Yashi before. They probably thought he spent the evening with the young lady. This was totally going to come back and hunt him later. Still the information he received about dragons was useful. It was one of the mysteries of the world that was not so much a mystery. As a boy the knight wondered how in the world did they kill off all the dragons, and now he fully had his answer. They didn't.
"I hope the next time we meet it will still be under good terms", spoke the knight aloud as he began to walk away. Fate was always a cruel mistress. [End Thread]
