A Mage? Sensed something? I've heard better cover stories. Belinda thought to herself as the mage tried to defend himself. She had met many mages in her time. Khan Yunis was full of them. All of them scholars who wanted to learn about the desert ruins that surrounded the city. Those who have mastered all sort of Anima magic to try and better the desert city. Those who used their power over ice and water to help grow crops. Those who used fire to keep forges going. Those who used the wind to help the sailors leave their ports. All of them intelligent human beings, who had some level of street smarts to them. Those who she HOPED knew better than to blurt out their motives to a big burly bodyguard who told them to leave before he beat his butt. If this man was some sort of scout, mugger, or spy, he was doing a terrible job at it. And Khalil could have used SOME sort of subtlety in his approach. She sighed.
"It seems I need to clarify what I meant when I said shooing." She spoke to herself. Then turned around and went to address the sir.
"Look, Flash was it." Perhaps they should have named you ghost. Or crane.
"Go find your other magician or scholar at the library or something. Ask someone else for those directions. And stop following us." She spoke in a slightly hurried but otherwise firm voice. The little spectacles she carried on her face glistened a bit as she moved. She really hoped the white-garbed man would take the hint and leave them alone. Just walk away. My end goal is right there.

Well, it seemed like he wasn't getting anywhere here. The woman obviously didn't believe his story, or maybe simply didn't care enough to even try and trust him. It's not like he had expected much. While he still believed that he had said the right thing, he had been too focused on preventing an attack. But there was no use in sulking over that. Guess I'll leave. Not like I have much of a choice... Still he was disappointed. Who wouldn't be? The feeling had been real. He was sure it meant something. However he probably shouldn't have mentioned that. It made his storsy less believable Nodding at the woman he turned around an left, while trying to avoid contact with the man as much as possible. He really didn't know how to deal with people like him. Let's see if I can find someone else who provokes this feeling in me. I'm curious now. Maybe I could even ask Neil? When I'll be travelling home maybe. Still, it's interesting... it seemed like she thought that I would just blurt out all of that to some bodyguard. Maybe she hadn't considered how loud I've been speaking. Was it too subtle? He smiled. While I might be a country bumpkin I'm not as stupid as I look. As if trying to prove that to the people around him, he cast a spell. Putting more power into controlling the fireball than making it destructive, he created a small fireball that was moving in a small cicle about a metre above him. Funny how small stuff like this is harder to do than a full blown spell. He let the fireball vanish a few seconds later. He didn't want it to do any damage. Well, time to leave this place. I'm not getting anywhere here.

Khalil halfcocked a swing with his right fist when the man didn’t leave as he was told. He didn’t hear a word the man said, he was more transfixed on the man’s actions. Apparently, he wanted to do things the hard way. Fine with me. But the dragon didn’t need to draw the power from his stone, since his employer approached to handle the situation with more grace. Khalil dropped his fist at his side. If she said the word, he was still ready to scrap. She didn’t say the word though, she diffused the situation differently.
Somehow, the woman was able to do what Khalil could not. She was able to ‘shoo’ off the man. Without an altercation as well. Khalil squinted his beady eyes as the man walked off, muttering to himself as he moved. He clenched his fist again as he saw the fireball rise over the mage’s head. It could’ve been some sort of attack or signal. Khalil didn’t like it one bit. He watched the spell dissipate into thin air. It all was quite suspicious.
“We should get going.” Khalil turned to keep moving toward the previous direction, prior to the small detour. Khalil was even more vigilant than he had been before. In the case that the mage’s little fire spell was a signal, he had no intention of being caught off guard. Humans always thought they were so clever with their plans and tricks. Well, Khalil was not going to fall prey to any tricks today. Especially, if it meant that his vigilance would soon be rewarded.

Wordy pale faced brat. Belinda thought to herself as she watched the events unfold. The boy did leave them alone but not before muttering to himself and making a fireball in the process. Now while she was curious to know why he did that. Belinda knew that a signal like that could also be used as a sort of flare to signal others. Was the pale-faced boy some sort of scout? Or a spy? She didn't like it one bit. She was prepared to channel the powers of the nether to defend herself if need be. But, as the boy walked off, she didn't see any other movement. Well no that wasn't true there was movement, this was a busy section of street with people moving about everywhere. She didn't see any other SUSPICIOUS movements. There were no thugs suddenly closing in on their destination.
Khalil had told her to move. And she did. The shamaness continued on her way up towards the inn. Once they were there Belinda greeted the doorman. She knew him as a man named Phil. And he was one of her captain's sailors, a good man, with a scar on his right eye. Belinda knew how he got the mark. Accident with a sail and it's ringings. The rope holding it together bashed him right in the face.
"Come on in Khalil."
Belinda held the door open for the large man. The pub-Inn was standard as far as pubs went. The Inn was upstairs. Patrons had to check in in the front. The bottom floor was the pub where mead, food, and merriment was served. The pub wasn't packed. But, it had it's fair share of patrons. Most of them regulars. A woman was up on a makeshift stage singing a song about the sea.
"I'll buy you a meal and drinks. Consider it a bonus for a job well done."

Khalil couldn't turn down Belinda's offer. He entered the building reluctantly. This was what he wanted, but it wasn't quite what he had expected to happen. He thought he would get paid and find a small, quiet, dark restaurant where he could enjoy a meal in peace. But this worked too. Even if it was likely to be more annoying. The pub wasn't crowded, but there were too many people for Khalil's taste. Not to mention the woman singing about the ocean as if she had the faintest idea of what the sea was really like.
The dragon found an empty table in the corner and sat down. He had his back against the corner where the walls met, so he could keep an eye on the on-goings of the scene. Eventually, a person asked for his order. "Fish. And a big glass of water." He wasn't trying to be impolite with his order. He just wasn't entirely focused on how people perceived him. The person turned away to report to the kitchen. Khalil sat in relative silence, his beady eyes darting from patron to patron.
Nothing seemed too outright dangerous, but he knew he could never get too comfortable around this many humans. It was always once he got comfortable when the humans made their move. It had happened times before and it wouldn't happen again. So Khalil remained vigilant even after his employer had reached relative safety. This was how Khalil had learned to operate in the world run by humans.

Belinda was satisfied with the job Khalil had done. After he ordered, the shamaness got up and approached the counter. She checked in with the tavern owner. He was expecting Belinda and knew of her situation. The shamaness then paid for Khalil's food and drink then returned to the table. She pulled from her pocket a small satchel of gold. She opened the pouch, counted the coins, pulled a few out, and put a card inside of it. Then she handed Khalil the pouch.
"Twenty-five coins was what I can spare. Should be enough to help get you by for the next few days. Your meal's been paid for too. Anything else you order will be on you." She clarified.
"The Card. Has the name of two captains that I associate with. As well as the names of their ships. They are always looking to hire crew men to help with the cargo should you find yourself in a rough spot. Might not be the most comfortable of positions for you but as the saying goes.. beggars cannot be choosers." She sighed softly. Perhaps not the best of phrases to use given his situation.
"The name of a guild is also on the card. They are a small faction and mostly cater to sailors, but sometimes they do have guard work for merchants." She explained.
"Well then, sir Khalil. This is where we part ways. Thank you for your assistance, and I do hope your luck changes in time." She nodded softly then dismissed herself from his presence. She went to check in with the inn maid and was shown to her room. Belinda thanked the maid and thoroughly checked the room before dismissing the woman from her presence. She locked the door and was breathed a sigh of relief.
