The first ship finally pulled to shore, only to have two of its crew shot down by Matthias. The archer moved back, trying to place the melee fighters between him and the bloodthirsty pirates. With Alexia in front, the pirates would have a hard time making progress. Thankfully, there were only a handful of mages in all the ships, and most of them were further back.

Alexia loved being placed at the forefront of the conflict. Charging forward, sword drawn, she actually managed to trample one of the pirates under Night Flight's hooves. She then engaged a mercenary in hand to hand combat. Unlike most of the others, this fighter had better training, and was making Alexia work for it. She knew she had to try and distract the forces away from Lumino and Matthias, but it was easier said then done. The second ship was coming closer, and three more pegasus riders were getting into range.

Sergey got in to action. Seeing Alexia was busy with a skilled merc he passed them and occupied the plank. As they now had to face him one by one, he had given Alexia the time to finsh the swordfighter off. What the hell are doing?! He suddenly reflected.

Matthias shot down a pirate that was approaching Sergey. After that, it was apparent that the fighter could hold off that boat for a while. Matthias squinted skyward. There was a Falcoknight in there, hiding amongst the other two pegasus riders. Grinning, Matthias switched to his longbow and took careful aim. He shot, and was pleased to see the falcoknight tumble into the sea.

Alexia finally saw an opening in the mercenary's attack, and drove her sword home. She could hear Sergey moving to intercept the boat. As she turned, the splash from the falling falcoknight wet her armor. Two other boats were coming into range, though they wouldn't be in time to save the inhabitants of the first boat. Switching to her javelin, Alexia took careful aim at the second boat and hurled the weapon. To her dismay, it landed short, drifting off into the waters.

Seeing that Sergey and Alexia had the closest boat under control, and the pegasus knights weren't about to attack, what with their leader dead, Matthias focused on the second and third boats, which were just pulling to shore. One of them just had your standard load of pirates, with a mercenary or two. The other, was the first load that had some shamans in in. Cursing under his breath, Matthias switched to the short bow and took aim. The arrow flew true, and a shaman fell. Unfortunately, the other two in the boat saw the sniper, and shot fluxes his direction. Matthias dived into the sand, avoiding one. "Dammit!" he cried, as the searing energy from the flux tore at him. "that hurts like hell!" It hurt him, but he was able to shrug it off and quickly scramble to his feet. He barely managed to fire another shot, which struck the chest of an intercepting pirate, before the fourth boat (a mix of archers and pirates) pulled ashore. "We might wanna start pullin' back!" he shouted, taking a few steps backwards.
OoC: 10/36, 2/4 the last boat has a few promoted units on it, which is why it's coming in last.

Alexia was grateful that there weren't hundreds of enemies to face this time. She remembered the overwhelming odds the group had faced back in Ostia, and this seemed paltry compared to that. An ax bounced off her shoulder, stinging enough to leave a bruise through the thick metal. It served to snap her back to reality. She brought her sword down on the closest bandit, forcing her weight to push the blade through her opponent's shoulder. She heard Matthias's cry, but didn't know if she could follow suit. Horses didn't go backwards very well. "Die pirate scum!" she shouted, aware of her lack of originality. Her sword flashed again, as she turned to face the newer arrivals.

Sergey was fighting a pirate on the plank. There was little room, already one pirate behind Sergey's opponent had fallen off. The axefighters where well matched.
The Sniper, Matthias, shouted something about retreat. Sergey cursed that he had too cut it short. While they clashed axes at all points around each other Sergey started walking backwards.

Matthias could tell Sergey would probably need some backup. He'd taken a damn good position for holding off the oncoming pirates. Matthias drew out his trusty short bow, and took careful aim. Two pirates fell before they could even reach Sergey. By now, the weaker units were actually starting to edge away from the group. For some odd reason, they didn't want to be killed. "What's the matter? Chicken?" called Matthias, grinning from ear to ear. "No, they are waitin' for us," a gruff voice called. The last ship came to land, and it was full of promoted units. Two beserkers stepped out first, followed by two heroes, and two druids. Matthias gulped. At least this should be it...

Alexia pushed a struggling pirate to the ground, and winced as she hurt something break. Whatever it was, it prevented the pirate from rising. She heard Matthias taunting, and turned to berate him. Then, she saw the incoming units. They looked a good deal stronger than the others had been. In fact, their presence seemed to be making the other units bolder. "Leave the cavalier and sniper to us. You guys focus on that annoying fighter and that mage," one of the beserkers spoke, motioning. The units moved off to follow orders.

Sergey saw the third boat land. When he saw their occupents he knew that they had to hustle. 'Lumino, it's no use. Let's go!' He yelled.

OOC: Sorry, life is really hectic, I will try to get in here once a day at least.
IC: Catching sight of the warriors, Lumino took a few steps back. The Druid's saw him, and started heading for him. Lumino's mind raced, their magic was stratigicly superior to his, and their combat skill far surppased anything he could hope to muster.
As the Druid's began charging across the battlefield at him, he noticed one of them veer off. Of course, sending two to kill him was just overkill. But....one might be overkill anyway.
I won't run, I can't run. I can fight, I have to.
Grasping his new book tightly Lumino called out the incant he had read for the first time just seconds before.
"Tear up the ground with glistening blades! Thunder!"
With a blast a bolt of thunder flew from the sky, and struck the Druid. He released his own spell, which circled Lumino. Confused by this spell, Lumino started feeling very tired....but then he noticed, the Druid's wounds were closing. He knew what had happened, the spell was called 'Vampire', though most people called it 'Nosferatu'.
OOC: Nosferatu is a translation of Vampire.
IC: His body became heavy, and he could barely stand after such a strike. Coughing he fell to his knees in the sand. It appeared he was not going to be much help in this battle.

Sergey swore loudly and headed back to Lumino. He easily picked young mage up and ran for it. He knew that the Druid's would reach him fast. Yet he had to try.

Matthias saw the druid, and knew he could probably take care of a distracted spellcaster. A strange energy filled him, as he drew out the arrow. Without thinking, he spun the arrow up and let it fly. It pierced the druid's chest, and the dark mage fell. "How'd you like that!" crowed Matthias. His cheers were cut short as the beserker's axe bit deep into his shoulder. Crying out in pain, Matthias staggered back, dodging a few ill aimed arrows as he moved.

Seeing Matthias's wound, Alexia reacted. She grabbed onto the sniper's cloak, and tossed him backwards. Knowing she was the last of them to start retreating, Alexia struggled to buy them time. Kicking out, she knocked a pirate into one of his companions, and swung to cleave another pirate's head from his shoulders. The berserker that had been attacking Matthias engaged her, and she barely deflected his axe. She drove her sword deep into the wild attacker's shoulder, and he screamed at her, reaching up to drag her off the horse. Startled, she swung her sword widely, scoring several small cuts on the berserker, but not causing any real damage. Night Flight was soon surrounded, though he managed to kick in an archer's head as the poor warrior had tried to corral him. A trampled pirate also showed the horse's capabilities, but no one wanted to be responsible for the death of such a treasure. The other berserker noticed the damage, and successfully stopped the horse, by hugging him. Alexia's berserker drew his ax, and swung, the blade cutting through the thick armor like butter. The cavalier cried in pain as she felt it bite deep, and tried to keep conscious.
