I: Local Legend/Troublemaker: You are well known in a small area, usually the area surrounding your home or the area surrounding a significant feat.
EG: Local bandit leader, Town Hero.
II: Hero of the People/Vagrant: Your reputation spreads to about a weeks travel from the location it originated from. People may start to notice you in a bar or on the street.
EG: Crowley.
III: Trademark/Calling Card: You've become so well known in the area where you live that gangs and up and coming warriors aspire to emulate you. Your reputation spans a ruling region (Lycian state, or a small corner of a larger nation.).
EG: Matis, Kenshin.
IV: National Hero/Tyrant: Your entire country knows of you, and the stories have gotten blown way out of proportion on their trip through the rumor mill. Did you really kill six hundred troops with your bare hands?
EG: Alan
V: Legend: You exist only in whispers. People who see you in person consider it as if they have met a god incarnate. You are known the world over. All people will recognize you at first glance.
EG: Athos, Hargus.
And yes, the categories are Good/Evil.
The numbering system is based off of the Fame Level you've got
In order to be awarded with a title you will need a total of 3 fame and/or infamy. You can have 2 fame in Bern and -1 in Sacae, -3 in Lycia, or any combination of them among each country.
Your title you may have some control over, but it will mostly be as the world views you.
As an example: While Richter was leading Ertuian armies into Sacae, he became known as 'The Sword of the Prophet'. Shortly after he turned against his superiors and 'defected' though, his title changed to 'Sword of the Oppressed'. His fame also went from negative (Infamy) to positive (Fame). It's the changes that action can bring about in your reputation.
As people's views of you form and change, so too will your fame and title.
