"Dad!" He heard a familiar voice yell and his head instantly snapped up. She was laying there, arms stretched out wide, but definitely awake.
"Chelsea!" His face brightened and he hopped out of his chair at once and made his way to the bedside. "You're awake! I'm so glad, I was worried you were seriously hurt..." He couldn't help but smile widely. This was great news, he didn't have to worry so much now. If she had been... No, bad thoughts of a situation that never happened. He looked at her only to see her to have tears in her eyes.
"Chelsea..." He wanted to choose his words wisely. The last time he asked if she was ok... she snapped at him. Her dream must of been bad if it caused her to cry in her sleep... but it was too personal to ask. "I'm glad to see you awake..."

"V-Val...?" She hoped he didn't mind her using a nickname for him, but she was too weak to say the whole thing. "W-Where... are we...? Where is... everyone...? Are they... ok...? Kelvin... Where's Kelvin...?"

"You're in a clinic. I brought you here after you fell unconscious. I... I'm not sure what happened to everyone. They were all fine when we left..." But... that crash earlier had him concerned. But he couldn't help over there, he couldn't help anyone. He just hoped the two doctors made it through just fine to help everyone who needed it.
"Lady Lucy was fighting Chester, but the two seemed to know each other..." He added, remembering she wasn't there from the beginning. "Kelvin... Kelvin's tough. I'm sure he's fine." He's much tougher then me anyway... "You were in pretty bad shape when I got you here, even with some of my vulnerary. The two people running this clinic healed you..."

The archer couldn't help but give him a little smile. "You... saved me...?" She weakly reached out her hand and rested it on his. "Thank you... I owe... you my life..." Her hand moved slightly at his news of Kelvin. He should be fine... but he could be hurt. And what of the others? She wished the novice knew more, but she didn't say so. It was nice to have someone with her, to keep her company.

How had it all come down to this? He looked around. Lucy was nowhere to be found, as Harlow said. Yaen was taking Wyatt out of the building, Saffra was holding the roof, and Chester and Mikar had been crushed by the rubble. The rest were probably outside the building already, as he had seen Kelvin jump out of the window.
Why...was he, of all people, left with the task to carry Wyatt's hammer? He tried to lift it, but it was far too heavy for his rather weak muscles. He could slide it all the way to the door, but that would take too long, and his fire spells would do little good. Now he wished he had learned more about wind magic, and had a very strong wind carry everyone in the building outside. Or at least just the hammer.
It dawned on him then. He took a firm grasp of the hammer's handle and looked up. "Saffra, hit me out of the building with your tail!" It was desperate. And mad. But it COULD work out. And as long as he lived, he could have himself be healed later. Probably. He turned around and closed his eyes. This would hurt BADLY.

This was utter foolishness, what Saffra was trying to do. She was no god, despite what tremendous power she had. Her eyes stayed on the spot where Mikar had fell. Saffra wasn't going to be able to escape when the others would, she knew that well, and knew that when she began to hold up the ceiling. hearing a voice, she looked down towards Gabriel. Large yellow, slitted eyes, stared at him as he spoke of his plan, and she felt a bit...mortified? In her mind, it was a scandalous idea, she didn't know why he would want her to do something so dangerous, but she didn't have the time to argue, she knew that better than them all.
"Prepare yourself, Gabriel, this will hurt...and my apologies if I kill you."
She rose her tail back, just the tip of it, really, was all she would need, but couldn't see where to knock him. She saw an open door, but she was no marksman in this kind of action. No, the door would not do, it was too risky. Instead, she rose up one of her front legs, and looked to see if Yaen and Wyatt were still here. She could not see them, and figured them safely outside by now. With her front leg, she knocked a sizable hole in the wall, which began to crumble the foundation as soon as she did it.
Not waiting for Gabriel's word, she hit him with her tail, not too hard, but definitely not softly either, he would be battered and bruised from the experience, and if he had a healer, well, that would be most fortunate. Saffra, however, didn't have the luck of escaping. Within seconds, the roof came down onto her with full force. With a leap, Saffra clasped both front paws around Mikar, where he lay knocked out, and coiled around herself defensively, to give protection not only to Mikar, but to herself as well, as best she could.
Outside, the building looked as though it quaked, and lurched from side to side, and then collapsed in a heavy heap, smothering all those still inside, dead or alive.

As Kevin lay unconscious on the ground, two doctors came hurrying over from the clinic. "There's another one," one of the doctors said,"Let's take him back to the clinic, he's pretty beat up." The doctors picked up Kelvin, and carried him back to the clinic. They carefully rested him down on the bed, and went off to find more wounded.

Chelsea looked over as she heard the doctors coming back. "Kelvin! Is he ok? Is he hurt? Is he gonna wake up soon? Did he ask about me?" She looked around at the doctors as they left, looking worried. One of them looked back quickly. "He'll be ok. He needs rest and a healer. He should wake soon. As he hurried off, Chelsea looked over at Kelvin and hoped he's wake up soon.

Kelvin lay on the bed motionless. His calm exterior masked the inner conflict playing out in his dreams. There he was, in an open field, along side Chelsea, fighting for their lives. It was glorious, as he dispatched enemy after enemy. He thought he was invincible, and in this dream, he was. However, Chelsea was not, and he soon found himself turning to see a swordsman mercilessly cut her down. Suddenly, all of the enemy soldiers were gone and rain poured down from the sky. Kelvin held Chelsea in his arms, as she breathed her last. The cavalier then found himself awake, screaming her name. He looked around in relief to find that it had all been a dream.

Chelsea jumped as Kelvin woke, yelling her name. She was shocked at first, but soon recovered. "Kelvin! You're ok..." She smiled over at him happily. "You had me worried, you know..." The worry still showed on her face as she looked at him. She tried to lift herself up to go see him, but fell back down. She was still too weak.

Kelvin sat up, his body aching, "I don't know if I'd say I'm okay, but I'm alive." He struggled to get up and limped very slowly over to Chelsea's bed. He half lay down, half fell onto Chelsea's bed. "That was some battle, eh?"

She nodded slowly. She was still shaken from it, especially the fact she killed during it. She still couldn't believe it. Sure, she had trained for years for this, but... it felt different now that it had happened. She had killed animals before, but that was for food, not because of differing views. And the worst part was she knew that it would probably happen again, most likely soon. Plus, what about everyone else? She knew Kelvin and Valcrist were safe, but what about Lady Lucy? Gabriel? Saffra? Harlow, Yaen, Mikar, Wyatt? Were they safe? Dead? She had no idea. She looked up into Kelvin's eyes. "I... I don't know if I can do that again..."

Kelvin looked into her eyes, this wasn't going to be easy. He could see that killing had taken an effect on her. "Chelsea, killing is never easy. But you have to remember, it's their life or yours. And sometimes it's the life of those you care about. Like, when that shaman hit me by surprise, you killed him to save me. It may never be easy, to kill, but that's a good thing. It means you still have a soul." He kissed her on the cheek, then continued, "Just remember, no matter what happens, I'm here for you."

"Kelvin, I... thank you..." Chelsea rested her head against him. Just a few minutes to gather herself. She knew she was close to tears, but she didn't want to cry. She just laid there with Kelvin and let it all wash over her. Get it out of your system now and then more on, her father had always said. So, this was her doing that. When it was over... she'd go help. Anything she could.

"It's... It's ok. I'm happy I could help you." He gave a coy little smile that he tried to hide. He felt her hold his hand, but he didn't shy away or explode in a mess of babbling, he gave a pained smile. Knowing that to her it meant something totally different then it did to him. He took his hand out of her's as it twitched, looking at his palm sadly. With a shake of the head he looked back to her. "I wish... I wish I had more to tell you. But I left before the battle ended..."
The in came Kelvin. "Kelvin?!" He was surprised, if anyone seemed like they could make it out of that, it was him. But there he was, laying injured in the bed. Chelsea yelled out to him, and he yelled out to her. All of a sudden... he didn't exist anymore. Even now, all she thought about was him. He was never anything more then a friend... and that would never change.
He left the clinic as the talked, no one even noticing he left. Wiping his face on his sleeve he walked slowly towards where the school once was. No hurry to get there, no hurry to go anywhere.
