Age: 19
Birthplace: Etruria
Traveling Companion: Solomon, the black cat
Appearance:
Relatively short at 5’3” and with a slight build, Isabel would be rather unassuming if it weren’t for her striking blue hair and bright blue-green eyes. In truth, one wouldn’t be at fault for assuming that young Isabel isn’t a threat all, just by looking at her. Her year or so on the road has seen her develop a sort of fit physique - not muscular by any means, and she’s nowhere near prepared to go picking up a weapon anytime soon, but she does walk basically everywhere.
Izzy tends toward blues and purples when it comes to fashion - partially a statement as to her former station as a minor noble of Etruria, partially because it goes with her blue hair. But her clothes since leaving home have tended toward practicality over fashion - long dresses have given way to sturdier pants and traveling cloaks. In particular, Isabel is a fan of a deep, dark blue hooded cloak that drapes over her shoulders, reaching down to her calves; she believes it gives her a proper “wandering mage” vibe. Under that cloak, Isabel tends to wear a semi-faded purple shirt of a nice quality fabric and a pair of long, dark blue pants. A set of simple traveling shoes, a purple headband keeps her shorter-cut hair from getting in her face, and a large, sturdy leather satchel for her belongings rounds out her typical outfit.
Personality:
Despite her seemingly jaded, down-to-earth persona, Isabel is a truly kind person who is willing to stand with her friends through thick and thin. She places a greater value on the bonds of friendship than those of family - a result of the rather strained relationship she has with her own family.
A large part of her personality for a very long time was exaggerating her own abilities, but she has sort of grown out of this as her own abilities have grown. While she is still not a humble person by any stretch of the imagination, she is more realistic about her own shortcomings than she was in the past. In particular, she takes a great deal of pride in her own brilliance and magical ability, and she will still occasionally refer to herself as a prodigy in these areas.
She sees the world around her as an inherently flawed place, with horrible people in control and the recent monster outbreaks across the continent threatening those who lack the power to defend themselves, but she doesn’t see herself as someone who can make large-scale change. Isabel has a proclaimed “look out for myself” sort of motto, but she’s actually kind of bad about following up on that; she’ll take the time to go out of her way and help others, even if she complains about how it isn’t worth it all the while. At the end of the day, she does want to see this world become better, but she lacks the ability to make it that way on her own.
Isabel, as briefly mentioned before, is a talkative sort of person with a quick wit and a sarcastic, sometimes even dark sense of humor. She tends to run her mouth despite herself, even in the worst of situations.
Backstory:
The middle child of a minor noble family of mages in Etruria, Isabel was the black sheep of the family - she seemed to possess no natural magical talents, a fact that was incredibly disappointing to her parents. This resulted in an inferiority complex and feelings of loathing in Isabel toward her brother, William, with his affinity toward and talent for fire magic, and her sister, Elyse, with her natural skill with healing staves. However, it was eventually discovered that Isabel didn’t lack a natural talent for magic - in fact, she had a natural affinity as well. The problem was that she was naturally suited toward dark magic, the power of Nether, and her family had a natural distrust toward that entire subsection of magic and its practitioners. As a result, Isabel and her family wouldn’t discover her talent until she turned 15, when William’s magic tutor thought to test her for an affinity for the magic of the Nether behind her parents’ backs.
When the tutor told her parents, he was summarily fired, and Isabel’s life was made all the worse as she was essentially ignored entirely by everyone but her younger sister. But Isabel was done taking it from them - she was ecstatic to find that she had some magical potential, and began searching herself for someone who could teach her. She would eventually find a wandering medicine man by the name of Daryl who, by some stroke of luck, was truly a caring man as well as a skilled dark mage, and she ran away from home to study under him.
While Izzy never took to learning about medicines, she did display a natural talent for harnessing the power of the Nether. Unfortunately, with traditional instruction, the blue-haired girl seemed to hit a roadblock, unable to refine her control - and after a few years of little progress, Daryl sent the girl out onto the road to learn by doing, telling her to return only once she was confident in her abilities.
Isabel ended up in Sacae first, where she met the young wandering bard known as Calvin - a truly sweet and optimistic lad, if a tad naive. The two became fast, if unlikely, friends, and continued to travel together for months. They met many other traveling warriors during this time, including the likes of the Emerald Wraith, Jya, a strange sage by the name of Valorian, and the young blond blacksmith Valcrist; some of these were people that Isabel would still consider friends to this day, though it has been far too long since she last saw them and truly doubts she ever will again. At some point on the road, she separated from Calvin as well, and though she misses him terribly, she is in no rush to find him again. Perhaps one day, their paths will intersect again, but for now, she only has her memories of the blond bard.
{Original Profile}Name: Isabel LeFury
Class: Pupil --> Shaman --> Druid
Hair Color: Sapphire blue
Eye Color: Blue-green
Age: 18
Appearance: Isabel stands in at five foot three, making her not exactly tall... By any stretch of the imagination. Her hair, which is held back by her headband, typically goes down to her neck. She is rather pretty, with fair skin, bright eyes, and hair that she always makes sure is kept tidy behind her hairband. She has thin eyebrows and eyes that seem to shine with intelligence. Her mouth is caught in a perpetual smirk, which occasionally widens and shows her slightly off-white teeth. She is rather thin. Isabel walks with a certain kind of grace that doesn't really suit her very well...
Clothes: Isabel wears a blue cloak with purple trimming on the edges over top her dark blue robes. She also wears dark blue pants with purple stitching. Wow, I wonder what her favorite colors are...? Anywho, she also has a blue headband to keep her hair back and a pair of dark blue shoes, along with a purple-and-blue bracelet.
Born in: Etruria
Story: Born the middle child of two mages, Isabel suffered 'middle child syndrome'. Her older brother was an amazing mage, while her younger sister showed considerable healing abilities even as a baby. Isabel, on the other hand... Was fairly ordinary. Due to her family's hatred towards dark magic, Isabel wouldn't find her talent until she was 15. But back to her childhood. As a young kid, Isabel always strove to find ways in which she could gain the attention she wanted so badly. At age seven, she purposely removed a bit off of her father's horse's saddle, so that the next time he sat on it, he fell off. When he began searching for the missing piece, Isabel came forward with a grin, giving the missing piece back. That little ordeal ended with Isabel being shut up in her room, all alone, for a week. Another time, she attempted to cook her mother lunch. I won't even go into how badly that ended. After a few more years of attempting to get recognition, Isabel's family found a man who claimed he would be able to find out where Isabel's arcane talents lay, if she had any at all. After a few meetings with the man, Isabel's parents brought him in. Within an hour, the man came back from the tests with what could only be the last thing the parents wanted to hear: Their daughter's talents lay with Dark Magic. The man, attempting to be helpful, told them that he was friends with a Shaman of great knowledge who would gladly take Isabel in as his apprentice. Her parents agreed to this plan reluctantly, and Isabel was off. She stayed with the kindly old man for three years, and learned... Almost nothing other than the very basics. Isabel frequently missed lessons with her master, preferring to go into a town near where she was studying. A few weeks ago, the man, realizing that teaching her was futile when she so obviously wanted to see the world, allowed her to go out and have her own adventure, with only one rule: She must return at the end of six months and tell her master all that she had done and learned. Isabel, content with this, left her master and headed off to the first place that interested her: Sacae.
