Grein put the kid down, it looked unharmed. She wasn't crying so that blood all over her was probably not hers. Pointing into the church he said "Go - find someone to take care of you". The kid seemed glad to be free from the ornery priest - with a last look back at Zilo as if to say thanks she ran inside as tears started welling up in her eyes.
"All I know is that you and the sliver haired chick are wanted by Bern for your attack on that faker Wedner!"
There - he knew it. On vacation my a**, Grein thought bitterly. The man was a deserter, but this was not the best time to deal with the situation. He was on their side after all.
"Zilo start getting people on Vyer's back and telling Vyer where to land.
As Ether ran out Grein stepped forward, focusing all his energy on healing the axeman. There was no point to hold back now. Then he spoke as they ran out the church - "The man is out of his mind - we are surrounded by bandits, not only will they kill the stupid lizard but there is no chance we can get everyone out of here one by one" He pointed at the packed church "We only have minutes, and if this place catches fire... they are dead."
He kicked the door in rage trying to get his thoughts together "We just need some more time, some of them are running." He looked out - the sun was just starting to rise over the village.
Maybe there really WASN'T anything they could do but take them head on. The few that stayed were gathering far from southern side of the church - they were a throwing stone distance away and some were getting bottles ready to light. He wasn't sure why they weren't heading straight for them but wasnt going to question - they were lucky to only have to face them on one side. Suddenly as a bandit swung back ready to throw the fiery cocktail an arrow flew from somewhere behind - hitting the man square in the arm. The bottle fell shattering, spilling its liquid among the bandits. There were screams as the men tried to get away from the flames. Far behind the bandits the old archer Grein saved earlier got another arrow ready - it was as good a chance as any.

The familiar sound of steel rushing through the air found its way to Ralph's ear, who instinctively dove to the right. *THUD* The ground shook a little from the axe's impact. [orange]"What kinda demon are you, darting about? Shouldn't a demon do something cool like catch my axe and throw me across the sky?"[/orange]
Ralph continued to not respond. Keeping himself enigmatic was helping to make some of the bandits flee, and he wouldn't stop that now. Perhaps some of them might even do some honest work.
The axe came down again, but Ralph had distracted himself. His leg was cut badly when he sidestepped that time, countering quickly with his slim sword, then a reverse hit with the steel one. The bandit was wounded, but he didn't slow down one bit. Ralph became unsure of whether he could finish this fight alone with a wounded leg.

Zilo sat there for a minute and started laughing with ether as he saw that it was also anticlimatic. then turning his attention he saw the head of the bandit. Goruk, fighting someone that seemed to have the upper hand in the battle. Blinking a little bit he didn't understand what was going on at all. There seemed ot be something wrong with the man after dodging an attack. He noticed his leg was cut. Zilo didn't want anyone else to die for his village than already had. Turning to Ether he spoke. "Take care of these bandits in front of the church." With that he ran off.
Running as fast as he could Zilo made there in a matter of seconds. Stopping a few feet away from the man that he had seen fighting Goruk. Not knowing who he was but he heard Gorul comment about a demon. Then he remembered when the other bandits had ran off like little kids at the mentioning of the red eye demon. laughing softly thinking to himself, that this was the guy they where running from. But then Zilo saw something. Goruk lifted his axe again to go strike at the man. Bringing his arms back Zilo held the iron axe he had behind his back. coming in from the side he brought the axe up knocking edge to edge with Goruk main axe. Sending both of their arms away.
Of course with Zilo being at less strength than Goruk he didn't expect that he would be able to do much. But he noticed that the man hadn't gotten hit. Both arms jarred a little and Zilo panting he jumped back towards the man thy where calling a demon. "Aiy you might want to get out of here stranger." He said looking at him breathing heavily and he smiled. "I don't want anyone else dying for my family. Everyone has suffered enough from this man. If he kills me here and now they have no reason to worry. Also the same way around if i kill him." He said turning his view back to Goruk in time to see him lift the axe blade up and swinging it downwards. Stumbling he moved to the left dodging the blow.
Bringing his arm back around with his axe in his left hand Goruk dodged the axe blade jumping backwards. Growling in hiss failure Zilo looked at the man in front of him. "I know I'm not a match for you. But i will not allow you to hurt this village anymore. You have a grudge against my family and I know that. But i won't allow you to continue this raiding on this village anymore. You have reduced it to nothing but a church now." He said glarring at the man in front of him. Turning back to the demon man. "Do you mind going and helping the person at the church." As soon as he finished that sentence all the sudden and ae protruded from his shoulder.
Blood squirting on the ground in front of him. Howling in a pain like fashion he dropped to his knees and grabbed his shoulder. Spinning around and stabbing his axe into the neck of a bandit. Dropping like a dead log Zilo started easing the Axe out of his back. Hearing Goruk laugh softly. "Boy your father would have never made that mistake.... And you thought you would be able to beat me? a lowly bandit just wounded you." The bandit leader started laughing like the devil.

Grein watched the fighter run off - damn kid, impossible to get his spirit down. He followed a good distance away, still keeping the front of the church in sight. He hated them splitting up like this, he didnt want someone to die just because he wasnt close enough.
There was another villager helping Zilo - the guy they were fighting was huge and Grein didnt get any closer. Still seeing Zilo fall to the ground he raised his staff trying to heal him - it would be impossible, the axe was stuck in his back. All he could do was focus to keep him alive a bit longer.
He cast spell after spell, feeling it draining him quickly. He wasn't even sure if the kid was alive, but he kept casting. He didnt look behind, and figured the church was going to be doomed soon - still there was nothing he could do. Drained and tired he could not even focus ahead any-more, just continued raising his staff forcing whatever life energy he had left into the spell

A newcomer... Ralph thought to himself. How would he be able to fight now? It was hard enough fighting while blind, but if there were civilians around too, he was always in risk of hitting them unless he knew exactly where his target was.
Ralph didn't respond when the young man spoke to him, it was better to remain a 'demon' for the rest of the bandits who were watching the battle. The young man was talking to his opponent, an excellent distraction, but it didn't help Ralph much. There was just too much background noise with the screaming and fires.
Until the laughing that was.The bandit leader's horrible laugh chilled Ralph to his very core. But the laugh gave him a location. He figured that nobody had gotten between himself and the bandit leader, who was still facing to the villager. By focusing on the laugh, Ralph knew exactly where his head was, and his neck was right below.
His leg hurt awfully, but this was his only chance. Killing bandits wasn't his favorite thing to do, but the messier he made it, the more bandits would flee. Using mainly his good leg, Ralph leapt onto the bandit leader's back, his swords piercing the man's neck. The laugh was halted instantly, as was any noise the other bandits had been making.
Silence hung over the burnt town as the bandits gazed at their fallen leader, and the blood-stained, red-eyed demon lurking over him. Then, all at once, they ran for their lives.

Zilo froze for a moment as the man had a blade go through his throat. The silence of the village went through as if there was nothing to be heard. The crackling wood seemed to eb dieing. The running of the bandits where fading away. They had saved the church at least. And the people in there. Sitting there the man fell to his knees and the dropped dead. Blood spurting about 5 feet out from him. The laughing died in the air. Reaching up Zilo pulled the axe out of his shoulder with a grunt. He felt Greins healing starting to take affect. Smiling slightly. "Thanks stranger."
He couldn't think anything else besides that. Standing up slowly. Even with the wound repaired the blood couldn't be fixed that he had lost. Wavering a little bit he laughed softly. "Aiy i really am sorry that you got drugged into this everyone. But seeing as I cause all of this i think its best that.....No one sees me here anymore. I don't think I should be around the villagers. I might just head to bern." He said turning and walking away. The pain he felt from the village. He couldn't even say thank you to the man that slayed the bandit leader that killed his father. He couldn't even turn to speak to Grein the man he had made friends with.
Walking to the forest he sighed softly. He couldn't do anything walking out of the sight of the others he sat down agains the tree. He needed a little bit of rest. He couldn't walk any further with the blood lost he had gained. If he could rest and regenerate that lost blood. Then maybe he could face everyone. But with how he was right now there was no way he could even recover from a flatering arguement without passing out.

Grein looked up, there was an eerie silence that hung over the destroyed village. Only the crackling flames could be heard now and he could see a couple of bandits, running for it as fast as they could. He moved closer now he could see that was no villager standing over the corpse of the giant Berzerker. Then he saw the red in the man's eyes
"I dont hold much for the gods.. likewise for demons." He held back the fear. The stranger had been silent the whole time, and he was the one that saved this village "You do not look like a demon - but your eyes. They look like blood from here. I dont think its the light... but the people here owe you, nevertheless"
He saw Zilo walk off to sit near a tree.. looks like he had survived after all. "You too! Heroes! There are still many alive here, they will sing of you Zilo" However he didn't move any closer - the stranger was definitely dangerous, and where his eyes were seemed to look off into flames. But he had saved them already, right? He was on their side.

[red]"Is it over? Did the bandits run off?"[/red] Ralph asked. He fell to the ground, his leg still bleeding greatly. [red]"I'm so glad that I was able to do something. I've felt so powerless..."[/red] he told himself.
Ralph struggled to lift himself back to his feet. [red]"But I can't stay longer... I need to get to the City of Heroes..."[/red] he stuttered, again to himself. He sheathed his swords and used them to help himself up, but he could only get to his knees. [red]"I guess that even when I feel like I can do something, I can't..."[/red]

(ooc: seems like I should post now)
He spoke - and he was wounded. The blood was real enough
"Are you... can you not see? There were so many of them... It was going to practically be a massacre." Grein pointed his staff at the man's leg casting what little he had left "There, that should help a little. I guess I should tell you to stay off of it for a while"
"What happened to your eyes?" Grein walked closer now and the strange shine was intriguing to him. He wasn't really much of a healer, but he was sure he had heard of eyes being repaired, under the proper circumstances.
Turning to Zilo he spoke "Hey - how you doing? Come on, you should get inside or something...this has been a rough night" He looked up at the just rising sun "At least its done with. I did not think any of us were going to make it out alive"

[red]"Oh, you're a healer? Thank you."[/red] Ralph slowly stood back up as his wound closed.
[red]"Yes, I'm blind, but I try to not let that get in the way of helping people."[/red] Ralph thought about the healer's question for a second, was there something odd about his eyes?
He felt his face, nothing out of place, unless... [red]"Oh, these are just colored glasses. I guess they could be mistaken as my eyes if its really dark. Suddenly the bandits running away from me seems much clearer now, I was wondering..."[/red] he trailed off, remembering that he had somewhere he needed to go.
[red]"Anyways, I'm glad that I could help your village, but I need to get to the City of Heroes, so I'll be on my way."[/red] he chuckled, but didn't move. For one thing, Caecus wasn't around to help him in the right direction. For another, his leg didn't want to move right now.

Zilo came back from behind the tree he picked the man up that had helped his village. Though he wasn't in the greatest condition himself. Though he had a lot of strength for being a woodsman he smiled slightly. "Thanks for your help. Now let me return the favor and set you on the right path from here. I'll also join ya on your walk since theres nothing left here for me." He loked back and if Greind did. He would see the looks on thee village peoples faces. Knowing that it was Zilos family that had brought this upon them even though it was a raid that started it.
Sighing softly he looked at Grein. "I hate to ask more of ya again Grein. But please attend to the people and see if any of them need some healing. I know the power in you is almost drained. But before i leave they need some care." He looked at the man he had helped up and was wrapping an arm around his neck to carry. "I'll take us to my house first and then Grein will join us. I will get you something to eat. Warm ya a little next to the fire and then we will set off for this city of yours." He said looking at the man.
Laughing softly as he started walking. "Red eye demon huh?" He looked at the man that was the berserker. "Seems if your a demon I'll have to be a little bit careful around you." He didn't want to think that the man would try anything. But he also respected him. Coming in and helping a village when he really didn't have too. "If you don't mind. My name is Zilo and i prehaps would like to join you on your journey." He said smiling to himself and waiting for the mans answer or response.

Ralph's leg was starting to feel better already. He probably just had to move it around a little.
This Zilo guy, Ralph thought he was a bit too pushy. Just because he was blind and had an injured leg didn't mean he had to be led around. [red]"No, there's something that I have to do alone."[/red] he said, pushing Zilo's hands away. [red]"Thank you for the offer though."[/red]
Ralph stood back and called out, [red]"Caecus!"[/red] The falcon returned to his arm from its perch after a few seconds. [red]"We are resuming our journey, Caecus."[/red] The falcon cawed, leading Ralph back on the path to the City of Heroes.
[red]"Perhaps we can travel together if we meet again!"[/red] he called out to the man now behind him.

Grein nodded to Zilo then added "Its probably early for you to hear this, but don't blame yourself. Even if people blame you, who cares? Doesn't mean anything. But you are probably right, there isnt much you can do here now."
Grein watched the blind man head out. He thought to wave but he wouldnt see him anyways
"I will go back to the church and do what I can." He looked back at the man and knew there wasnt much else he could say. He knew a little about loosing everything, but not like this. It was only his family that cast him out. His home was not destroyed. "I will be ready to go when you are"

Ether had eventually found Grein, Zilo and a new person as it seemed the fires started to die down. It had seemed everything was over and there was no need for Ether anymore. Ralek had told him some interesting news. He was a wanted fugitive now and he needed to find a way to clear his name. Michelle was still in Bern and was probably trying to find him.
He needed to find her and clear their names but he wasn't sure how that was going to happen and now that he wasn't needed her and had no further business here he could take his leave. He then let out a high pitched whistle that had called his wyvern to come to him.
"We're leaving buddy," He said as he mounted his wyvern. He wanted to say goodbye and make sure everything was going to be alright but for now he had to go. Vyer then took off into the skies heading toward their next destination.
