Oc: I know that Butorega is going to have a follow up Topic to Night raid which is going to take place few ingame days after the event. I plan On joining that one as well but would like to have more players take part(hopefully on my side). I see this as a perfect chance for any new player(if we get any) to get there start. so Heres my Ingame attempt to find pc help. Morning came but Valin didn't stop hes search aid. His eyes had become dry and blood shot from the tears and the biting chill. The vast emptiness of the frozen country was both awe inspiring and a small bit sad to Valin. He had come to Illia to find A better life then what he had in Bern but the country was nothing like the women mercenaries it produced. Valin strained his tired eyes searching for any sign of human life or a pegases knight. The wyrvern rider began to shout at steady intervals "Hey anyone out here!?" He then would wait thirty seconds lisening and looking for a reply if it came. The pain had returned as the sun rose but The knight pushed on he had to find help in what ever form it came in

Aw geez, now this was a pickle and a half. Medusa was all spooked and such too, why was she always the relegated to scouting duty? It's not like she's gonna break in half by a stiff breeze, she's fought bandits before. They were chumps, y'know, usually. It's not particularly unusual or exciting news to hear a small village had been sacked by bandits, a fact that is kinda depressing if you think about it. Geez did it suck. It was kinda a fact of life though, y'know? Ilian villages are separated by wind and snow and other janky junk, it kept places isolated. They were cut off from the other towns, and were easily overrun as a result. It was really only peggy knights, like her and her squad, that could really get from place to place quickly enough to actually make a difference. So if you wanted to be safe in Ilia, it was better to stick with the larger settlements or those near outposts. This town was neither, so whoops they got raided. Fricken' bandits, they're all a bunch of jerks and assholes. That's what they are.
It was snowing, but here in Ilia they call that a sunny day, it wasn't exactly fierce of view obscuring but it was noticeable. There was a sun beginning to rise, pretty pretty she might say. It was like... elegant and stuff. If she was a poet or artist, she probably could have turned this into some work of interest. Of course she was neither, so it didn't matter, still she could appreciate it all the same. It was about now that she should return to her squad, tell the whole "I saw nothing and no bandit tried to murder me" thing she's grown to be an expert at, when something caught her eye. Not in the 'oh god run' way, but more in the 'huh that's weird' way. Since, y'know, bandits aren't particularly well known for their wyverns. Of course that made it likely they were one of them bern fellers, which is a mixed bag. Since there's about a 50/50 chance he'll be friendly, or he'll wanna carve in her skull. Which is, honestly, not really a good bet to make. Actually it's probably like 70/30 in favor of face carving, but y'know, whatever. She was suppose to scout, and this is scouting. Worst to worst, she'll probably be able to outfly him. Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully. Well anyways, better go see what this is all about.
"May, if I die, don't let anyone touch my things." She spoke to the horse as she patted it on the side of the head, telling it to swoop down upon the fella. He looked rough, and bloody. Oh Lisa, you might have bet on the wrong horse. (wyvern? whatever it was a metaphor) "Hey there... citizen." Citizen the right word? Eh, whatever, she'll roll with it. "What are you doing out here in the middle of no man's land?" Looking over at his wyvern, she cocked a brow. "Or whatever, point is there's a bunch of bandits somewhere nearby and you probably shouldn't be out and about. Unless you like getting shot at or killed."

The sound of another persons voice scared Valin. His first reaction was to Ready his lance. He turned bracing to face down whatever brute had come to kill him. ""Damn you I going...to" What he saw was a young woman with chestnut hair riding a white winged horse. Valin looked at him self and the the woman, the two were the same and different in equal measure. Albues Bucked alittle and the rider found his voice. "Citizen...No....Um....Im Not a citizen Im a Valin. I mean Im a knight WAS a knight...My Name is Ger I mean Valin." Valin said barely addable. Valin took a deep breath and looked the Pegasus rider dead in the eye. "My name is Valin. I was a knight of Bern. I now seek vassalhood in Illia. Last night a village was over run by bandits seeking vengeance on this country. I fought to protect the villagers but most were cut down by villains waiting outside the village. I now seek to Warn the Illian Army." Valin was trilled that he spoke to clearly but he was trembling now. It then hit him that he hadn't covered his evil eye. Valin quickly looked away covering his red eye. He listened for her response hoping she would stay.
Oc: This seems like its going to be a fun little talk. Our characters personality's seem to be some much different.

May reacted to this man's 'greeting' by stumbling back and neighing. Lisa patted the spooked mare on the side of the head. "Come on now May, calm down..." She whispered to the steed. She was a pegasus, but wasn't quite yet used to danger and was easily spooked. Honestly, so was Lisa. After the horse calmed down, she shot a bit of a glare at the rider. "Woah man, calm down." She said with furrowed brows. He had reached for his weapon and snapped at them, probably spooked him self. He began to explain his self, or well he tried to. The wyvern rider seemed in a bit of a fluster, she cocked a brow at the man as he stumbled over his own words without much point behind them. He explained he was here to look to become a vassal, which is odd because this scarcely seemed like the place to do such a thing. There was no opulent nobles lazily laying around, just a lot of snow.
He mentioned the village that was attacked, and it made her do some sort of thing lost between a sigh and a groan. Well isn't that special? 'Vengeance' was it? "I know about the village, it's why we're here. In fact I think I said something along the lines of 'there's a bunch of bandits nearby' if you were paying attention. I'm scouting the area before we head in." She looked around at all of the nothing around them, sighing. "You're all alone then aren't you? That's not very comforting." The village was probably completely sacked, which wasn't a pretty thought to have. It's not something she liked to think about on with any seriousness, so instead she quickly began to talk some more. "We received some reports that there was an attack and hurried over as quickly as we could. Too late, it seems." Wow did she hate bandits.
"Actually..." She thought for a moment, realize it was a dumb idea but wanting to go ahead with it anyways. "You should probably come with me back to the squad. We could totally get your injuries taken care of too." Part of her job was to look for survivors, well this guy was definitely one of those. Also he probably new stuff that might be totally useful, if he was there for the attack. She had a feeling some of the stuff she was saying or doing was very not what she was probably supposed to do. She wasn't so good at the whole 'rank and file' stuff. There was a lot of stuff she had to remember, and really that was kinda hard. Like telling him she was scouting, and that there's a squad of pegasus knights coming to the village to check it out. Was that a bad thing? What if he was, like, a spy. That would suck. Though if she didn't tell him, he'd be all suspicious. It was confusing. "I'm Lisa, a soldier of Ilia."

She stayed? Why did she offer to bring me to her unit. Valin thought after the young woman had finished. Valin turned back to the woman still covering his eye with hand and took another deep breath. "Its an honor to meet you lady Lisa. I will follow you to your unit to be debriefed. Here take this." Valin then offered lance to Pegasus knight. Albus gave low growl and tried to bite the white pegasus. The man smacked his mount upside the head with his lance."Down Albus! Sorry milady he gets jealous easy." The rider tried to surrender he weapon again.

It's... an honor? Geez, what a weenie. He struck her as one of those overly proper types, which is fine and everything but Lisa was kinda as far away as a noblewoman as you could get. Okay maybe not, she was not a dirt farming peasant boy. Also she did enjoy the occasional fancy dress party, and lazing around being pampered did sound kinda fun... Still she made a sort of a face as he talked. He was also covering his eye for some reason, maybe he injured it? Which was weird because he wasn't bothering with it not even five seconds ago. Maybe he was just being weird? She shrugged all the same, he could call her whatever he wanted. They probably wouldn't be talking to each other much longer, so there was really no point in doing anything about it. He tried to make a gesture of offering his lance to her, and before she could reject the offer his 'friend' decided now would be a good time to try and attack her.
Medusa whined but didn't react as much as she had before, even though this was probably the more dangerous of the two situation. She was kinda weird sometimes. Lisa cringed and forced herself to smile as she looked at the man, her eye ever so slightly twitching. That's twice now, perhaps she SHOULD take his lance. She took a heavy sigh and knew the 'right' thing to do. UGH. "Keep it, if we run into anything it's probably better you're armed. You aren't exactly a hostile." Maybe she was being too trusting? Okay she was probably definitely being that, but she wasn't feeling it. She doubted he was a bandit or in line with them, bandits had a real bandit...y aura about them. This guy was a weirdo, no doubt, but not in the bandity way. "Keep your wyvern in check though." She added, giving him and then his mount a quick look. "It's one thing to get jealous, but deliberately trying to injure my pegasi is way out of line." It also spoke of how poorly trained it probably was, but she didn't say that aloud. Riders were touchy about their mounts, just the other day she felt like socking some dumb guy in the face when he said Medusa was 'difficult' Hey guy you wanna know what's real difficult? Removing her fist from your face!
Oh yeah, she had things she needed to do. "Follow me." It was weird, usually it was 'hop on' but this time it was 'follow me' she was both relieved and annoyed.

Valin realized the woman was right and he needed lance. He only hoped the rest of her unit was kind to him. "Albues she our friend so follow and don't eat." Followed behind for ten minutes before sleep over took him. Albues flew on regardless making sure not to lose his master. Valin woke up to Albues shaking. "Im awake you stupid dragon! Now Stop!" Valin looked to see if he was still following Lisa. He was but there where more fliers in the air. Valin tried to close his red eye but he still couldn't. " Well Buddy we ether die or we get help. Ether way NO EATING!" The red maned giant braced him self for whatever may come.

Well he was being quiet, not that she could or should or would complain. It was hard enough to hear the guy next to your in the air, but she was making sure to keep a healthy distance between them to avoid any kerfuffles between their mounts. She looked over to him and saw him asleep, which seemed incredibly dangerous. Sure his wyverns seemed to be following her just fine without input from it's rider, it didn't change the fact he's sleeping hundreds of feet in the air and the only thing between him and DEATH is a temperamental lizard. The lizard was pretty smart though, to be able to manage it in the first place. He was also probably tired from facing the bandits the first time around, it still just struck her as a poor idea. It wasn't just the 'small platform of scales protecting you from splatting on the ground' thing but as well as being willing lead someplace without any sign of worry about where you were headed. Still the guy was tired undoubtedly, and as long as he doesn't wind up dying it was fine. He could do as he wished, the wyvern knew him much better than she did. Lisa would just wake him when they arrived.
The sun had fully risen by now, and it was poking through small gaps in the gray skies above. The weather had let up, and was no worse than small sprinkles of snow. She could see some of her fellow riders in the distance, and she was sure they saw her before she even knew they were there. Upon the reins and bearings of Medusa bore the insignia of Ilia, so it could be seen even at a distance, they could tell she was friendly. Which was a good thing, because she didn't want to be shot down by archers. They seemed to have left Valin alone as well, which is a good sign. She looked over at the wyvern rider to see him stirring and saying something to the wyvern he rode, but the wind made it impossible for her to hear. A few of the other pegasus knights approached her, and the woman riding the steeds began to make gestures with their hands.
This was something Lisa responded to in kind, making gestures as well. They then did the same, but different in the ones they chose. It wasn't long until it became apparent that the two were communicating in a way with their hand movements. After a few minutes of this she began to fly forward, beckoning for Valin to follow, and touching down in a small clearing where a small but still sizable force of people have gathered. They were all equipped with weapons or staves or tomes or whatever they used, and were all wearing the same insignia that appeared on Medusa. She would explain things when Valin landed.

Valin watched as two Female riders made hand signals to Lisa. He didn't blame the young knight keeping her distance from him. He looked again at the hand signals hoping to make any sense of them but not surprisingly he couldn't. Valin lost himself in the memories of his time in the Bern army. The image of his noble master brought him pain. Lisa landing broke him out it.
Valin and Albues descended slowly to the ground the chill was starting to get to the rider. Valin counted twelve foot soldiers arming in the field, Most were woman. Valin felt his nerves getting the better of him. "Keep it together. Just keep you baring." Valin landed and dismounted trying desperately steady himself as he struck an at ready pose. He then waited for whatever authority came.

As they landed, so did another woman. She looked different from the rest of the soldiers, while she too wore the symbol of Ilia her's was more intricate. Her armor was more refined and of a higher quality, and she wore a helmet that was adorned with what looked like feathers coming off either side. Her face was covered by this helmet, but there was no mistake of who she was. Who she was is a pain in Lisa's butt, but she needed to be respectful and compliant and all that good stuff. This woman was her commander after all, a pegasus knight like her. She wasn't quite at them yet, so Lisa craned her neck to the wyvern riding man and began to whisper loudly before the Falcoknight reached them. "That's the lieutenant." Is what she lead with, she probably needed to explain all of this before he got confused but she didn't really have the time. "She's gonna want an explanation, so let me talk." It was one thing to come back from a scouting mission, another entirely to drag along some person with you. Lisa went to whisper again, but was quickly stopped.
"Gauss, enough." The knight called from several feet away as she closed the gap with frightening speed. The pegasus knight snapped to attention looking at her commanding officer. "Who is this man you brought with you? I hope you're aware that we are on a mission here, we can't be picking up stragglers and strangers." She stood in front of the two, crossing her arms in front of her breastplate, the cold judgmental mask she wore staring down at them. It was funny, the helmet was beautiful from any person's perspective, but it made who seem more frightening than anything. "I want an explanation, and I want it to be good."
"Lieutenant Celice, I was scouting and I..." She began, but the lieutenant held up a hand and was quickly silenced.
"Straight to the point, we don't have time to wait around. We're leaving as soon as I get an explanation." Leaving? What? Why?
"Leaving? Wha-" She began to vocalize her thoughts, but was once again silenced by Celice's gestures. Telling her to hurry it up, so she did. "This is Valin, a survivor of the village. He's injured so I brought him back for treatment, and I thought he might have valuable information that could help us. I was told to look for survivors on my mission, and here's a perfect example."
The knight shrugged and let out a heavy sigh, there was no look on her face but Lisa could only assume it was 'annoyed'. "Survivors of the citizen variety Gauss, this man is clearly a knight and not one of ours." She gestured to Valin. "This could simply be a ruse, and he might be here to compromise the mission."
"But he fought against the bandi-"
"Did you tell him our mission?" She didn't even let Lisa finish the thought. "Dammit Gauss. Don't disclose information like that so carelessly! Don't you remember the 'bandit' raid last year? The one where commander Richter was captured? Bandits aren't mindless brutes, they can be every bit as clever as the Etrurians!" Elisabeth stepped back in shock as the lieutenant reprimanded her in front of everyone, the other soldiers staring at her. She cringed, but remained respectful. She hated being a soldier sometimes.
"I apologise lieutenant Celice. I have made an error in judgment." Lisa looked down into the snow that her fidgeting had turned into a fine mush. She looked up at the woman who seemed to tower over her, even if she was three or four inches taller at best. "I stand by my decision however. This man needed assistance, and I wasn't going to abandon him simply because he might be a operative." She stood her ground as she stared into that helmet, not sure if she was looking at her face or her forehead. "If I did that, innocent people could be ignored in paranoia."
Celice sighed. Bringing up an armored hand to her armored face, holding her head lightly before simply shrugging. "I suppose I may have been a little harsh, but I expected you to know better. Then again, you're still a rookie after all. We can discuss this later, we don't have time for this. We need to leave right away." She looked at Valin for a moment before sighing. "We have word the bandits are retreating, we need to press now if we want to catch them. Valin, you can go with Major Katelyn, she's bringing the survivors back to the outpost." She gestured to a duo of pegasus knights accompanied with a mercenary that were at the head of a depressing small crowd of people that looked completely out of place. Villagers who survived, it was depressing that so few survived. "Gauss, you're coming with me." Lisa looked at Valin with a sort of half smile, as if she was trying to apologize. If he had something to say, now would be the best time.

Valin was relieved to her that Lisa was going to do the talking for he was nerves enough being around so many people. The Wyvern knight took a moment to admire the lieutenant armor and hoped that one day he might earn a set of armor as regal maybe with a cape or mantel. He thought were broken by the senior womans voice and Valin snapped to attention when Lisa did.
Valin tried to let the kind pegasus knight talk but grew more fluttered at how Lt. Celice was treat her. He tried each time to defend Lisa but couldn't speak in time. Valin could see that young woman was getting upset as well and Valin could stop from blaming himself.Whats wrong with me? This girl trusted me and shes getting treated like this on my behalf.
When The young knight defended herself and her decision Valin wanted to cry. For the first time some one was showing him true kindness. when finally the Lieutenant ordered him to follow the survivors Valin had made up his mind on how to repay Lisa.
"Commander you can't tell me yo run. Not after what Ive been through." Valin walked over to the younger of the two woman and knelt. "Lady Gauss of Illia I Valin a freelancer do swear this." He then presented his lance. "I offer my lance to you service from this point on to be your retainer and sheild. Whenever you go to battle to be at you side. This oath is bidding until you dismiss me." He the looked at Celice. "This oath does not bid me to follow your commanders orders just yours."
He then Looked back a Lisa awaiting her reply. It was heavy handed and highly unheard of given her rank he knew it but he did mean what he said. He also wanted to fight Balgoth again but it would be better if didn't mention his vendetta. Valin Prayed the Pegasus knight accepted and didn't think ill off him because of it.

"Is this guy...?" Celice looked at him and the spectacle he was making, and it wasn't just her. Everyone was staring at this man who was kneeling and presenting his lance and 'swearing an oath' and all that good junk.
Lisa covered her embarrassed face with her hand, sighing heavily. "Yes. Yes he is." She groaned. Wow she thought this guy was a weenie before, but he just went maximum over weenie. "Oh Elmine." She rolled her eyes heavily while she heard a few snickers here and there. You see what this guy was doing was probably something he found incredibly poignant and honorable. Instead it was incredibly out of place, out of proportion for the situation, unwanted, and frankly a little worrying. She barely knew the man, in fact all she did was drag him out here, and all of a sudden he was declaring an oath and wanting to become her retainer. It was a sweet gesture, but all together kind of embarrassing. She had a feeling this was the kind of guy who took things way too seriously.
"Well, 'Lady Gauss', you just gonna let him kneel there waiting?" Celice said with a smirk so powerful Lisa could hear it through the helmet. Lisa pursed her lips and just stared at the guy wide eyed, unable to find any words to adequately describe what she was feeling. Which was embarrassment, annoyance, frustration, and maybe a hint of flattery hidden beneath it all.
She opened her mouth to speak, but stopped. Taking in a deep breath and letting it out again. "No, Valin, I will not accept your oath." She calmly replied. "You'll have to keep searching to be someone's retainer. But I... appreciate... the thought." She almost cringed at the end.
"Look, Valin, we're kind of on a time crunch here." Celice spoke up, her arms crossed and an annoyed tone in her voice. "If you're not going to leave and will instead follow Gauss around like a lost puppy, that's your own business, but I have a mission and I'm not going to let you interfere with that. You here? If you come, you LISTEN to my orders. You understand?"
"Yeah just... just do what she says Valin." Lisa added with a groan and a sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration. She didn't out and out dislike the man, in fact she found the gesture kind of sweet. It was so inappropriate and misplaced, he seemed to be completely out of touch regarding things like this. "And tell us what you know about the bandits while we march." She added with a shrug.
Celice took to her pegasus while they Lisa spoke and rose into the air, she thrusted forward with her lance and like a machine everyone started to move forward. The peggy knights rose to the sky, the foot soldiers moved at a brisk pace to keep up and the civilians were escorted to the nearest outpost. All that was standing still was Valin and Lisa, because she wanted to make sure he understood before they moved on. "Alright Valin?"

"Well that worked fantastically." Valin thought as he mentaly punched himself in the head over and over. At this point he wanted to just mount Albues and flie back to Stonewall but he didn't want to make a further sectional out of himself so rose and tried to do the one thing hes fails in the most. Talking to people. "Commander I will follow." He knew it was a lie. He knew that as soon as the attack started he would break off and hunt down Balgoth.
Valin Mounted Albues and flew to speak to Cecile. "The band that attacked the village is now at eleven strong. Its lead by a man called Balgoth The Destroyer. He lead a raid on the village while holding men in reserve to kill the fleeing villigers. They know that I escaped and may be readying to leave. Valin tried to not look at anyone now. He had burned these bridges already his one hope for joining the Illian army now was to live trough the attack and peel off and find another commander. It would also help if he never saw these soldiers again even though he owed them.
