It had been quite some time since Butorega had some time to think. He had been all around Bern and to Illia over the course of a few months. He had lost his two best friends and been forced out of the Coalition. He lost two battles out right. One to a Berserker called the Sea serpent of Bern and the other to his own grandfather Alexander himself. The more he thought about those fights the more he realized that something was wrong. Each one was random each thing he has done had no purpose. His grandfather told him a man without a purpose is weak. So what was Butorega’s purpose? What was his ambition?
Butorega began to think long and hard on this question. He wanted to be away for a bit. Away from all the people he loved and the people he hated. Butorega bought a horse for 500 gold. It was a good stead, pitch black with eyes that looked life fire. Butorega started to call him fang, but settled on Wallace. Wallace was a good name. As the brigand sat down on a stone he heard footsteps behind him. Grabbing hold of his halberd he turned around to see who it was.

Drax was wandering around aimlessly in Bern. Looking for his next meal, or to hear the next tale of history that he had to learn. Coming into a clearing, he had seen a Paladin sitting on a good size rock. With Drax's hood still up like it usually was, his face was shadowed in. The horse moved away from the stranger as Drax stood there now looking at the two. 'Friendly or foe....we shall soon see now won't we.' Taking his hands out of his jacket's pocket, he would lower the hood to show his human face. A male that looked to be in his thirties. The hazeled eye Manakete would study the man who had a Halberd in hand. A decent weapon if he was fighting a normal person.
"Sir Paladin, I hope I didn't startil you. I was walking aimlessly looking for an old fort that was rumored to be around here from the early years of Bern. I'm guessing you haven't seen it have you?" Drax had to make up an excuse on the fly since he didn't want people knowing just yet that this Manakete was awaken and was on a killing spree. His cover was his shield and sword.

Sir Paladin thought Butorega to himself. He took a moment and looked at his new armor and horse. Yeah he could see were someone would get the idea. Still he would not call himself that. The newly appointed paladin looked at Drax. “I am not a sir”, spoke Butorega as he got off his rock. He placed his halberd back in its hoister on his back and walked up to the man. “I am just a man in a bit of a pickle, but if you are looking for an ancient fort then I can’t help you. I know not were one is, but if it’s in the area would you mind taking me along.”
The fort intrigued Butorega. Something about the idea of an abandon fort sparked something in his head. It was something he wanted, but was forgotten in the blood and heat of battle. However it did not surface. It just gnawed at his mind.

Seeing him put away the weapon him feel a bit easier at the moment. WHo knows, maybe this person might come in handey later on down the road. Nodding his head, Drax would begin to walk again as he would go through some wooded area's with Butorega following along. The silence between the two was a bit much so Drax tried to start up a conversation with the horseman. "So, what brings you out in this area of the wilderness? It's a bit odd to see someone out here alone. Espically when rumors are spreading about a Dragon spreading havic across Bern. From what I heard, it destroyed a village already. Killed many, sad news that is. So what was your name again? I don't think I caught it before."
The manakete would see how his new traveling partner would take to such rumor and then asked the question about his name. If he was to ask, Drax most likely give him name to be fair. He was hoping that he wouldn't have to rely on the stone that was in his pocket. Walking throught he woods, they would see the break in it and came across a field next to a running stream. Squinting a bit, Drax would point across the stream as an old fort was standing, hidden by much of time. Vines had grown across the stone walls and battlements. "There it is, just to think I would have missed it if I was to go the way I was originally going."

Dragon”, spoke Butorega in a regular tone. The brigand had seen so much in the last few months that a dragon was not even that surprising. “It is a shame I could not have been there”, spoke Butorega as he touched the pole of his halberd. “Dragons are powerful opponents far greater than what a normal can achieve. Sure I may have died, but at the very least I would have had a chance to face one of the legendary warriors.”
The man asked Butorega for his name. “Butorega”, spoke the Paladin as he pulled his horse behind him. “Butorega of the town of Littlerock. It is a small village so I doubt you would have known it. Do you mind giving your own name”, asked the paladin.
As the duo entered the clearing and saw the old fort wheels started turning in Butorega’s head. There is some opportunity in this. The Paladin stared for a moment before speaking with his companion. “To find something as well hidden as this we must be lucky.”

"I'm Drax, from Fire Mountain. I was born and raised near the base of the mountain. My family were traveling folk, hence why I wander around the land alot. Not staying in one place to long. Never know when Trouble may show up at your door step. And Littlerock....I think I have been through there once or twice. Got good ale in the Tavern if I must say so myself." Looking over the walls from the distance, he would start walking again as they shouldn't just admire it from far away, they should examin it up close and in person.
Hearing what Butorega had said, Drax would reply to him. "Lucky as the high winds on the Traveling seas. May you keep your course and find your treasures on rolling shores as my father would say back in the day. He was a Merchant, always looking for the next neat thing for him to get his hands on."
Now at the old fort, the gates were wide open. So Drax walked in through the old mighty gates. Looking around at the craftsmanship of such scale of stone work, it was amazing that such a fort had lasted so man years through elements and wars. Walking into the courtyard, an old statue stood there. The main figure of it was broken. What was left was the legs to what looked to be of a dragon. Crouching down, Drax would brush the ground with his hand finding another piece of it. A head of a dragon with it's mouth open and horns broken off. "But it seems that not all of the stone work survived."

“Well what do you expect”, spoke Butorega as he walked up to the stature. He stared at it for a moment and noticed a plate with words written on it. Some of it was blurred, but the words read Fiery Dragons. “This fort is probably older than my great great grandfather. Statures and decorative items would be the first to go as they were built for show not sturdiness. Kind of makes you wonder why they would put a dragon stature here thought”, spoke Butorega aloud. “Maybe it was meant to show power, or maybe the noble who owned the place used the dragon as his symbol. It is a bit of a paradox with dragons being the old enemies of Bern. You know what thought I like it”, spoke the Paladin.

"Through my travels, I've come to learn that back in the earl years of Bern. There was a Fire Dragon that killed many people. Some tried to catch it, kill it and claim it was a prize, but they were killed as well. The dragon went to the top of Fire mountain and bellowed out that he wanted statues to be made of him. Those that did would be shown mercy, but to those that didn't. Well, they never got the chance to be entered into the history books. Some even believed that he was a Deity sent down to save Bern and lead them into a New Dawn. Sadly, those people were mistaken as you can see from this old Castle. No one around to tell any tales." Dropping the stone that was actually of himself, he would brush his hands of the dirt and dust. He would begin to look at everthing that was there in the courtyard, not daring to go inside without Butorega. Drax had to play as if he was weak, even though he was 6'5.

“Interesting legend”, spoke Butorega. The story got his mind ablaze. He remembered what that feeling was. That drive that etched at the back of his mind. He wanted at one point to rule, not just be a soldier, but to have power. It was for that reason he joined the Black Leather Bandits. He wanted to learn how to run an organization and to take it over and make it his own. Somewhere between the four years and now it got lost. Somewhere in that sea of blood and smoke Butorega lost his ambition and only began to live for the battle. “I guess we should go inside”, spoke the Paladin as he tied his horse to a nearby post. The paladin wanted to see what was left of the building. Sure it would be in disrepair, but if he could salvage this then he would have a fort. Butorega pushed open the great door and allowed the light to enter into this old fortress for the first time in centuries.

Walking over towards the door, he would grab an old torch that sat just inside the great hall. Taking it back outside, he would take two stones and smack them together making sparks. Once the embers landed, he would gently blow on it so that torch would catch. After a while of blowing, the torch lit up. Smiling a bit, he would stand up saying outloud. "And I giveth fire, shall you guide your paths to many glourious battles and feast with your clans." Walking upto Butorega's side, the room would light up a bit more as the fire from the torch burned strong. Taking a few steps into the room, on the walls were carvings into it. Looking at it carefully, they would see a four winged dragon destroying villages. Underneath it said, "Our lord from the skies and fire, destroy our enemies and we shall give you riches to pay our gratetude to you."
Walking away from it not saying a word, he would examine more of the room. Many banner hung off the walls further in. Black with the Red four winged dragon from before. "I guess this was their form of a deity. Impressive design, if it was real. There's many versions of the same tale to why the dragon is not around anymore. One is that it went back to where it came from, destroying the race of dragons. Second, That he rests sleeping inside fire mountain inside it's fortress and the last, a hero of some sorts came to him with false intentions and slayed him. What ever the true ending is, he's not around."

“Interesting”, spoke the paladin as he looked at the walls. He was more impressed by the fact that the markings were still there. As Butorega walked he noticed another torch hanging on the wall. He pulled it off an lit his own from Drax fire. “Two torches are better than one”, spoke Butorega as Drax began to go into his reading.
“The facts that there are multiple places were this tale is told does help its credibility. In truth though it makes you wonder how it suddenly disappeared. It could be time, or it could be that the people who worshipped this dragon did so out of fear. Fear is a powerful force, but one the threat is gone it fades. Respect is what passes through the age not fear”, spoke Butorega. This was more a message to himself than an observation. He looked around and saw another torch and lit it up. The structure was in good condition, and for what was going through Butorega’s head it was perfect.

Nodding his head a bit, Drax would carry on lighting more torches as they moved on. Now in the center of the great hall, they would be able to see a large table with a few decent chairs to be able to sit on. The rest was badly rotted. Walking past it slightly, he would look at the main wall now. It showed a family tree and the one named stood out from the rest. Closing his eyes, he would let out a sigh. Whispering her name to himself, "Dairen Le'voon." It should an off branch from her name where the married person was. He was somewhat glad it only read, 'D n' Ontop of the tree showed the Dragon again with it's arm reaching down it as if reaching for the names or their souls, depending how one would look at it. Where his old loves name branched from, he would see his name and said it out loud.
"General Fredrick Le'Voon. The last lord to ever rule this castle. He was 59 years old when he past away. But it seems his family died off before he did. And as for what you said earlier. It is credibil since I seen statue's made from different materials such as wood to all the way to gold. Now a days, people would say that this Dragon or Deity had such a big Ego to him."

“Well I would have a large ego too if I was a gigantic fir breathing lizard with spears for talons and swords for claws. Still thought this drawing is weird. Why would you keep a drawing of your line if you were subservient to a dragon? There is no pride in that”, spoke Butorega
“Figures as much”, spoke Butorega. “Gold is well gold. I would not expect everyone to be able to make a stature out of it. Stone is good in my opinion if you’re going to make a stature, but bronze is the best. Bronze is the stuff that will last through the ages. There is a town located near the southern tip of Bern that has a bronze stature. That statue has been there since the days of the great heroes. Bronze is the metal that will last through the ages. It gets stronger as it rusts.”

"As history has been written on this family, the general's Daughter married a race known as the Manakete. Since no records of him being an actual Manakete were not around, it was deemed as a rumor to spread. The poor fool was killed along with Ms. Le'Voon from an attack on the castle. Her father wasn't their of the battle since he was away in Ilia meeting with other Major Powers." He thought about it as it disgusted him that he actually saw his wife die in his arms that night. Exhaling slowly, he decided to press on before he would begin to remember that night all over again. His walking came across a door with a design etched into the wood. It was of a Lance and an Axe crossing together. Letting out a loud whistle, he would wait for Butorega to come over to him since this door lead to the troops barracks and the Weapons hold.

“Manket”, spoke Butorega with a bit of confusion. He had heard the word before. It was the time he was caught by a mage and nearly used as an experiment. However he never truly understood what a Manakete was. Still it was something for him to think on. For a moment Drax seemed to go into deep thought. Butorega began to wonder what he was thinking of, but the man simply walked away to another door.
Butorega walked up to the door after being summoned. He stared at it for a moment and rubbed his hands on the markings. It was quite a grand design. Who ever built this place had good taste. The paladin pushed open the door and allowed the light from his torch to enter the room. He saw another torch spot on the wall and began to ignite them as he entered the room.
