After halting in place, the titan crossed his arms as he didn't immediately respond to the soldier that approached him. He took a couple of seconds to scan the area and all of these troops stationed here. He couldn't really put his finger on it, but he didn't really care nonetheless. He just wanted them to be out of his way so he could continue on to Laus. However, it was time to take care of the immediate conversation, staring down on the soldier that spoke to him. "...The name's Tiger." He sighed a little under his breath, keeping in the same position as he averted eye contact, but still spoke. "I'm on my way to Laus, but my path is blocked. I have no intention of getting involved in...whatever's going on here. If you're the one able to let me through, then I'll be out of your hair immediately."
...As blunt, yet straight to the point as usual. He had the most irritating feeling that they weren't going to cooperate with him easily, considering he had his doubts that the path was clear even beyond these soldiers. If they were stationed here, then common sense would say some other opposing force was beyond the hill. He had the opportunity to make use of his services here, but he had enough money to last. "A greedy mercenary is a dead one", his old man used to say. But he stood there patiently as he awaited some kind of response from anyone one.

Well, things were starting to happen quickly. On one side Eren had about 6 scouts with him and they were heading out quickly. A huge type of crossbow, Ballistae perhaps, was being set up. Some man was in the way and the Deputy was cutting him off along with Lucien who went after him. Samuali stood flustered for a moment, lost by the thing in the entire, and went after Lucien. As Samuali drew near he saw the man. He was tall and shirtless, with fair muscles showing. Samuali sort of worked his way around Lucien to get a better look at the fighter, consequently reveling himself to him. His young age contrasted with the rest of the group.

Friedrich thought of simply letting him go, but he the man seemed a mercenary alright and a good one at that. As Deputy, Friedrich had dealt with the profession enough to know that money always had the final say in it. The city could well afford to pay him a decent sum for seemingly standard work. Friedrich took his hand off his sword hilt and relaxed a little. "Right, my apologies. I only stopped you because you approached us armed. I'm Deputy Friedrich Reinhard of the city guard. Have you come from those hills over there? We could use another man against these bandits.", he offered. "The city can pay you appropriately for your work. What do you say? You lot are usually eager for anything to swing a weapon at for pay. Why not do it for something good for once?", he finished smirking from the saddle of his horse.
Galloping up the road was Michael and Richter, the two that had been sent to scout ahead....at least until Sir Darius had sent scouts beforehand without the deputy's knowledge. They came to quick halt and saluted. "Sir, it's just as we thought, but Sir Darius is-", Friedrich stopped Richter there. "Sir Darius is moving into position, yes I know. Don't bother with the rest of the report, he sent scouts without telling me and didn't bother to tell me not to send you. His plan was the same as ours, so the bastard gets to take all the praise if this works, dammit all...", he finished with disdain and disappointment. "Come on, we've got to get into position in the field now.", he said starting to ride off. "You're either in or you're out, mercenary. I don't really have the mood to give a damn now.", he shouted without turning back. "The rest of you, let's go!"

Deputy Reinhard pushed onwards, extending the invitation to the axeman. It seemed like a fair deal, if he was looking for work. That of which he was uncertain. As they moved off the road, Lucien held up and walked up to the mercenary. "What he said is true, even if it were brash. We're helping not only those from Santaruz, but those poor souls from Laus who are fleeing the undead blight. Your service would not be forgotten and would obviously be compensated. It's all up to you." he said with a warm smile. Speaking this little bit got his mind off of being nervous of going into combat for a moment at least. The column moved into a small copse of trees before reaching the other side of the woods that led up North to a bit of high ground. It was possibly what the scouts had mentioned earlier. Moving up, the Deputy and his scouts were already looking from atop the high ground while Chevalier was bringing up the foot troops to meet up with him. As they got to the summit, they were a bit more cautious as to not be potentially spotted. Ahead he saw the woods Eren had mentioned earlier in the town square as well as the enemy's high ground that was opposite from them. At the top was a very old and decrepit fort and a bit aways on the other side of the hill he could just barely see a rooftop of a house and smoke coming from the chimney. "So... that's where they're hiding, eh?" He thought out loud, the others sure to hear him. The enemy hill had some small cliffs on it, a bit too much for a man to realistically scale up with any measure of safety or speed. They'd have to hit one of the only two slopes, one facing them and he could see one further away leading towards the house. It was bottlenecking them in, but that was only if they needed to rush in. They were on distraction duty right now. Plus, they were blessed with a siege weapon at their disposal. "Let's get into position here. Let's talk strategy. What do you all think would be the best way to move forward? They may either give up once they see us, try to flee, or put up a tough fight. Maybe all three. I don't want any of us coming home in the back of that medical wagon. You're all honorable men that are needed to bring our world back from this craze it has been in. Don't be doing any heroics to get yourselves killed."

"Considering our situation and manpower... I propose that the Deputy, one of his men, Sam, and the... Big guy and the swordsman... should all charge straight ahead. I'll take Chevalier on Mika, and we'll sweep to the south with the other two riders. Whichever way they come, our other prong will be able to come up behind their lines and decimate them. Our archer can pick them off with the ballista, too, while we advance.
What say you, Deputy, Lucien? Sam? Any concerns? Otherwise, I think it prudent that we attack while we have favorable lighting and surprise. It'll make it easier."

Tiger was somewhat annoyed to be categorized with the average mercenary in terms of just doing his job for the money, but trivial things such as that was able to go in one ear and come out the other as he was able to casually brush it to the side. While he couldn't call himself Spencer Reid any more, he was still a Reid at heart, and he did his job because he loved it. Sure, he got paid some petty coin for his services, enough to just keep that monster of a stomach satisfied and other important stuff, but the life of a warrior was in his blood. His body was naturally built for combat and if there were any opportunities he could take to continue testing his strength against new opponents, whether or not it's a personal matter, he'd take it up with little thought.
...Which somewhat made his decision here a little more easier with the two soldiers combined giving their input on him joining up with them. He simply chose to remain silent as he unfolded his arms and the men proceeded to the sea of trees. To follow them, or mind his own business...eh, whatever. It didn't hurt to tag along, and he already had the blood of bandits stained on his axe plenty of times. What could more bandit blood harm? That, and speaking realistically, even if he just ignored these soldiers, there was no guarantee the bandits were going to be all "Y'okay! You can go on through and we'll try not to gut you alive and take all your stuff!" ...Yeah, he was better off just helping these guys out.
As he followed along and listened to their strategy, he crossed his arms again as he began to ponder. He was hired for small skirmishes like this one before in the past, but since he didn't have much knowledge on the situation other than what's been told in his presence, he decided to just nod his head in agreement to Eren's plan. While it was reckless, there wasn't any immediate harm to the plan yet. He was just ready to make some heads roll.

Samuali just nodded his head at Eren's plan. He had no official training in tactics so he just simply had to put trust that they were not plotting anything that would get them killed in the process. He was nervous about having to fight a organized enemy, but it was just the normal prebattle worries. He gave his lance a slow spin between his hands as he mentally prepared himself for the fighting to come. He had done a lot of it, and learned a lot for the short time he had left home. He was glad to have had the morning train with Lucien and recalled some of the thing he was taught. They were small things, but in a fight for your life, it was usually the small things that determined who was walking away from it alive. He shuddered at the thought of death. While he had seen more than he would like to it still bothered him each time he witnessed it. Pushing that out of his mind he answered Eren. "I don't see anything wrong with the plan, though i would like you to be able to support both groups if that's possible."

Friedrich thought over the General's suggestion a moment. "I'd rather bring all my riders with me. As for charging straight ahead, I should think not. You heard Lucien; no heroics and no unnecessary risks. Besides, our job is to draw them all out into the field for open combat. If we press too hard, they'll rout and retreat to whatever remains of that fort on the hill. Once they're in the open field, Sir Darius ought to be able to move out of the wood and sweep down from the heights and destroy them. We'll all have a chance at glory today, we just have to wait for the right moment to seize. Lucien, I leave it to you to decide where the rest of us on foot will be. I'll try to draw them as close as we can before riding back to meet with your group where we'll spring the trap. General, I'd like you to be ready to ride into their flank at that very moment. We'll try to get around them and push them north into Sir Darius."

The officer pulled himself together after hearing the conflicting ideas. He wanted to be democratic, but he'd just have to do what had to be done and take everyone's opinions into consideration. "Actually, all of you have good ideas. It may be risky, but I think General Barrata could flank far to the south and check out the cottage on the other side of the hill. If we could secure that it'd cut off any escape they would have." he pointed to the landmark ahead of them through the trees. He reached onto Reinhard's saddle and pulled out the red signal flag. He then handed it to Eren. "This will be the marker for the ballista to hit, so place it wisely. It'll help you out if you are in trouble or you find a nice area where they're all built up."
Ahead of him in the open field where a lone copse of trees stood, he then pointed. "Everyone on foot could very well take up position there. I would go with the General, but I don't want to leave Samuali and the others to be at the brunt of a possible attack. Sam, you could very well hide in those little bit of trees to give you a bit of cover. I'd also appreciate it if our axeman could join us..." he turned around and held out his hand to shake the mercenary's. "I'm Sir Lucien Chevalier. I thank you for joining us. You're making a difference."
Turning his attention to the cavaliers, he knew exactly where to place them. "Deputy Reinhard, your suggestion is spot on... I want you and your men on the flank ready to charge into their lines when they approach to engage us. The better you hide and the better you hit them with speed and fury the more impact it will have. We only have one chance at this. God willing, St. Elimine watches over us in this battle. Let's move into position, gentlemen." he said bowing his head. Without too much to say, he made his way through the trees down into the open field where he was sure they could see him in his bright armor. There he was in all of his honor and glory.

Taking the signal flag from Lucien, Eren nodded grimly. This plan was all right in his book... He would have preferred more backup, but...
Tucking the flag away, Eren got onto Mika, patting his wyvern's neck with a small sigh. "Now, remember, Mika girl... Watch out for arrows. We've got to make it through this in one piece."
Taking to the sky, the Dragon Knight shot off, flying low over the trees. He could see his target in the distance, and was ready for action, axe in hand. So far, everything looked silent and still. It worried him. Approaching the cottage warily, Eren landed in a small stand of trees nearby. Still silent... How eerie. What on earth would happen next?

Listening to everyone's input on the plans, the axeman stood by silently as they all were making up their minds. He certainly didn't have enough information to actually bring any suggestions to the table, so anything he had to say would be close to useless. He just needed to hear out the final okay and work along with the plan itself. Though from the way how the conversation was going now, it seemed like the final decisions were already made, then noticed as Lucien reached his hand out to him. Hmm...this one seemed overly polite compared to the others here. Of course, that wasn't a bad thing. Most knights possessed the generic impatient personality and were mostly all talk about their honor and such. Though this one seemed different to where the giant couldn't fit him anywhere in that category.
He shook the knight's hand in return, nodding his head as that alone gave a sign that he would lend them his aid. Tiger realized that him keeping his same neutral expression may scare people, but his stone cold expression was just his natural look. Just because he looked angry didn't mean he was always angry. Right now, he was actually a little more interested in this fight now, which his face says otherwise. "...Rest assured, I'll get my job done." After all, he followed a code of his own: Complete the job or die trying.
Well, it seemed like it was already time to go. Despite the fact that there was a change of plans, his job was simple enough as he followed the rest into position.

Right, Samuali followed Lucien to his patch of trees where he was directed to go and parted with a couple words, "Be careful". He quickly lowered himself and did what he could to not be seen from the opposing forces that were going to be baited out. All that really showed was his hair, which fortunately and ironically seemed to blend right in with the background. Once he was in position he took a look at Tiger. The large man intimidated Samuali in some ways, his expression for starters. Samuali just sort of looked at him for a little before hastily spiting out, "My name is Samuali" and returning to observing Lucien who was just there in the open.

Friedrich smirked at the confirmation of his suggested tactics. "At your wishes, Sir Lucien. Michael, Richter, Alistair. With me. We wait in those woods there.", he said pointing out to them as they rode off down the road towards them. Funny enough, even with Friedrich's personality and background and the suspiciously nicer looking armor he and his men wore, it was not he who shone in all his glory in the sunlight as they moved out of the forested road and into the plains.
They approached the wood carefully. It had a strange L-shape to it as if it had been in the process of being cut down. The stumps were all gone and the earth had repaired the disturbances created by their removal. Friedrich assumed it was all in the process of finishing what looked like it was supposed to be a road that bypasses the heights for quicker travel. Construction had probably halted from the bandits increasing in their brazeness and Gods know whatever else reared its ugly head out of Ostia. Safely inside the remaining wood and well concealed enough to be difficult to spot without a keen eye, Friedrich dismounted and stretched in all manners he could while standing on two legs. Through his sighs of relief, he spoke. "Now, gentlemen, the worst part of being in any force or combat: waiting. Always the damn waiting. Dismount if you'd like and take bread and water if you didn't do it on the march. We have a hard ride ahead of us. Be ready to run them down where they stand and turn them northward. Pick a clear lane out of these woods and be ready to charge right out of it at a moment's notice and stay alert for anything."
The Deputy leaned sideways against a tree and stared out at the field and hill with the homestead on it as he pulled an apple from his pouch. "They better not waste my time cowering in that old fort of theirs, by damn.", he thought taking a bite from his snack. Still sore from Darius' undermining of him, Friedrich was on edge to recover face and perhaps just put down some savage bandits. Stuck in the city managing his section of the Guards, stopping drunken brawls at the local tavern, and helping lost children and travelers find home or a place to rest occupied most of his time. At least helping the children made him feel like he was actually helping and punching a drunken traveler who had gotten belligerent with him wasn't all that bad. Still, this is what he wished he was doing all the time. He had requested the city's blessing before to allow him to form a special company that would mostly secure the roads and lands outside of Santaruz to keep the trouble away more effectively, but always was met with deaf ears. He felt good being out here and now his quarry was only a dash across this field.

Lucien was surprised with the lack of resistance they were facing as they were just outside of the enemy's doorstep. At the same time, they couldn't very well see the top of the hill with any degree of accuracy, so Lucien figured it was worth it to have someone scout it out quickly to see if it was safe to move up. Turning towards Reinhard and his men, he waved his hand in the air. With his hand he signalled "You", "One", "Eyes", "There" - pointing at the hill. Then he signalled once more: "You", "Travel", "There". He didn't care much which one of the cavaliers did it, and he figured Friedrich would have one of his men do it. However, he could see how things could be lost in translation. Looking over to his own position, he could see that Samuali and the mercenary were doing fine. The father and son they brought along were nervous, but still held their ground. In an attempt to help them out, he walked over and spoke to the two. "How are you holding up? This will all be over rather soon. You have made the right choice in coming out with us. You will see." he said with a smile, the father plainly nodding his head and giving off a forced smile in return. The noble hoped he wouldn't break and run. It'd put him out there as an outlaw and he would be hunted down. Naturally he didn't say this. -- INSIDE THE FORT -- There was quite a scurry inside the fort as the bandits knew exactly what was coming. Women and children were being hidden in the cellar if they chose to stay safe. The men didn't have a choice. They had to stand and fight. At the head was an ex-military officer from Ostia who was jailed for certain abuses of his power. When the apocalypse had come to Ostia, he managed to escape and immediately took advantage of those who suffered from the evil that came from the Ostian lands. It was justified for him as revenge for those who imprisoned him. His name was Iason and he carried an Axereaver as well as a Dragonspear and a Javelin. He was fully decked out in heavy red armor and was highly intimidating to everyone around him. "So, Darius has finally come to vie for my power!? When these pathetic nobles lose everything it will be I who controls the land! Remember that, all of you! You'd all be dead on the side of the road if it weren't for me! Show these amateurs how Lycians commit to battle!" he ordered, raising his fist in the air. Around him, the bandits let out a rallying battlecry as many of them took their posts on the fort's walls or went into the field on top of the hill. The large man stood at the base of the gates and shouted for all his men to hear. "Protect the Lycia you love from these tyrannical bastards! Onwards!" He shouted boisterously. Many of the men surged North into the forests to engage Sir Darius' men. From his location, Iason could see the battle igniting as the first few men clashed swords.

Getting in position while within the sea of trees, he made sure to remain closer to the kid, just having an itching feeling that he should stay near in case he could shield the boy with his size. Of course, the kid must have been skilled to be out here in the dawn of a chaotic battle that's about to commence. Since the trees and bushes were quite lengthy and huge, they could even hide a man of his stature while ducking down as low as he could. He had no other choice regardless. If he stood out with Lucien, he'd stick out like a sore thumb...and he didn't want them being detected so early on before the plan even began to be placed in action. Not only would that make him look bad as a fighter, but it'd be a stain on his family name...well, once he took care of Jason, he's be the only Reid left in existence.
Suddenly, the younger soldier spoke up and introduced himself. He wasn't really expecting to kid to say much of anything, but that may have been due to Tiger potentially intimidating him. Who DOESN'T he intimidate these days, anyway? At this point, such things only brush past his shoulder and doesn't even care about it anymore. Not like he could blame people, though. He didn't look back to Sam just yet, but he kept an eye on the white knight. "...Tiger." Well, that was his little introduction. He wasn't much of a fan for huge intros, so he stuck to what he knew best, before glancing at Sam from the corner of his eye. "You're quite young to be on this battlefield, but that's respectable. I was a young teen myself when I began fighting."
