After thinking over the story given him for a few seconds William replies.
"I am William, I'm used to live in a village about a weeks wandering through the woods without a map from here. My village burned I was gang pressed by bandits, but I was lucky enough to get the heck out of dodge when a mercenary group that made frequent stopovers in the village came for revenge." After gathering himself for a minute he continues. "Depending on the number of pirates, how stealthy we are, and how good you are with a stave, I might be able to help you. Even better, I might have a plan."
After finishing his rather long winded speech he pauses to see his possible companions reaction to the news.
