Any pretense of maturity and calmness evaporated into nonexistence like a pegasus getting punched into a fine mist by an angry dragon - one of her favorite similes as it happened - in response to Lena's reaction to her friendly little jibe as Nayru's serene smile revealed its true colors, twisting into a mischievous grin that she was forced to hide behind one raised hand to keep it from being TOO obvious. It was like shooting pegasi in a barrel with that girl sometimes. With a catapult. That shot dragons. Eh, that one probably needed some work. She also probably needed to try to avoid messing with Lena too much unless she wanted to become a sword swallower... thoughts to ponder in the future.
For the time being though, it seemed as thought bolstered spirits were the order of the day. The man Gesh had injured was still alive, in fact it seemed like she and Lena had actually been successful in not killing anyone, and the so-called Gesh Gang were striking off into the sunset to look for more gainful employment. She let them go without holding them up, but momentarily after they left, realized that she really should have talked to them about the name. "I hope their next group name is a bit more creative. Also, less murder-ey sounding." A soft giggle, Nayru allowing herself to wallow in the moment for, well, a moment.
Unfortunately, it seemed that the sins of the fathers had descended upon their sons... and she was both the father and the son... ok that metaphor was, like, the exact opposite of good. Probably should have thought that one out better. Regardless, point was, Veigue seemed soooooomewhat confused about the narcolepsy thing, and going by his dully blank expression, not super happy about it either. A quick glance to Lena confirmed that Nayru was on her own, a betrayal most foul. "Et tu, Lena?" Melodramatic for one moment, serious as the Ending Winter in the next, as she turned her attention back to Veigue and performed a metaphysical suplex on the topic of conversation.
"Welcome back, Veigue. What happened?" Almost as an afterthought, after a brief pause, she finished her thoughts. "You look... different."

...Smooth. Well, since both of them were avoiding any kind of explanation and didn't seem very interested in relieving him of the confusion, Veigue settled for not really caring about it anymore as he silently sighed. Whatever it was, he was sure it was just something silly that he was probably better off not knowing about. As such, he was forced to focused on Nayru's topic switch...and one he didn't exactly know how to explain very well. After all, he was still trying to confirm if he could really believe that dream. But...it was the most vivid he's had, and his father's words and explanations were definitely from his own mouth. The fact that he felt a little differently about himself isn't something to deny either, tightening his grip on Kenji's sheath just a tad tighter.
"It's a long story...and a difficult one to explain. The spirits within Kenji are connected with this shrine more strongly than anywhere else in Elibe. They knocked me unconscious to put me through some spiritual trial, since apparently most who seek to wield Kenji are held back by their emotions instead of their physical strength and skill. Thanks to this shrine's influence, this place allows both your spirit and theirs to connect and communicate in order to place you into a very...challenging test." Well, it was challenging to him, at least. Veigue didn't really know how to explain it better than that.
"I see...what was it like? And did you pass their trial?" Lena herself didn't understand too well, but got the gist of it. Veigue looked the other way as he wasn't exactly sure how to tell both her and Nayru what he went through exactly. Nothing to lie about, just...difficult to put into words. But there was no sense dancing around the subject, turning his back to the two as he knew he'd probably get it out better while avoiding eye contact.
"I was...victorious, yes. I'm now worthy of the blade. The trial is different for everyone depending on what's holding them back, it seems. For my trial, I met face-to-face with our father's spirit. To put it simply, we had to battle again the same as we did in the past...one final time." Even though he had difficulty with telling it to them, at least his tone was neutral as opposed to brooding when his father was the subject. Even though their conflict finally ended on a good note, Veigue wasn't able to recover from it all immediately just like that. He still needed time to adjust and collect his thoughts more correctly...and also finally getting around to reading that journal. He had a feeling that would help further in coping with it entirely.
Lena hit a dead silence, knowing better than most that it wasn't an easy topic to just talk about. Veigue knew that he should explain everything, especially for his sister's benefit, but...he wanted to at least get out of this shrine first. "...I can tell you both the full story later. Right now, we should probably head back. Last thing I need right now is another spirit knocking me out."

"Oh sure, YOU get to be blissfully unconscious when fighting evil mind spirit things in an epic battle to the death." Her tone held more than a light dose of heartbroken injury, and maaaaybe just a tiny tinge of sarcasm, if by 'tiny' one meant 'a lot.' If it wasn't for the over-exaggerated hand motion and rolling of her eyes, she might have even sounded serious - and while the subject matter was indeed serious, her approach to it was not. Lena probably wouldn't have any idea what the hell she was talking about, but for Veigue it was a clear reference to their own little adventure a few days back when she had fought her shadow self, or whatever the other her had been, while her body was otherwise occupied trying to kill everyone.
It was... probably a bit too heavy of a subject to be making light of, especially given the sheer body count she had picked up over her life while berserking mindlessly, but it wasn't FAIR, dammit! If she just fell asleep when she went crazy and had visions and stuff, she'd probably be a lot happier. Also, possibly deader - a sobering thought. Considering that some of her transformations had been in the wake of, or even during, bandit atrocities... uh, anyways. Point was, she was trying to lighten up the mood a bit, COMPLETELY selflessly, right? RIGHT. Regular good Samaritan right here.
"Explains why you were holding the sword differently, anyways," she blurted out-slash-mumbled before moving on. "And you can totally even walk home unaided after all that? That is SO not fair. Who do I have to call around here to negotiate a sweet deal like that?" Nayru punched Veigue lightly in the shoulder, acutely aware that she mmmmight be overdoing it a little bit, it had been a LONG time since she really did the 'chipper' thing, but at this point she had already dug her own grave and might as well drown herself in it. "'Long as you're sure you won't have any narcoleptic fits on the way home, Sleeping Beauty. Ready to go when you two are."

"Um..." Well, this was...awkward. Veigue wasn't sure whether to smile or what, but it was a little hard for him to truly judge if Nayru was actually being serious or not considering the mixed signals he was getting. Well, compared to what happened a few days ago, he did become more fortunate than her in the aftermath of things. Well, he felt a little bad about it now. Did he have to apologize or something? Veigue just settled for scratching his head a bit, still having no idea what to say before just succumbing to his usual silence. It was still hard to judge anything, but he was probably better off just leaving things as is for now. He had enough on the mind as is, and the more he thought about anything in general, the more it felt like his head was going to implode.
"Well, uhh...I don't know what's going on, but congratulations, lil' bro. It's good to see I made the right choice in entrusting the blade to you. But you're right. We should get out of here first. You can tell us the rest on the way back, if you want." She smiled lightly as Veigue thought back on the time she gave him Kenji. At first, Veigue always thought Lena may have been mistaken to have given the blade to someone like him, but considering all of what his father told him earlier, it was much easier to not feel burdened by that train of thinking as much anymore. Being worthy of Kenji was only the first step after all, and after hearing about this new potential...and eventual threat that was this mysterious Lyle, he had even more bigger things to worry about now. He only could guess why his father was so upset over this person and why there was bad blood between them to where it'd directly affect Veigue himself in the future, but now wasn't the time. He just wanted to take it easy for once.
"...Thanks." He still didn't feel too happy behind that, but guess he still just needed to give it a little more time.
