"Hm..." He refrained from saying anything only for that moment as she spoke. He probably wouldn't have known she wasn't fighting as much during her time wandering around Elibe, though obviously it was just their experiences together that gave him that impression. While she was roaming the world many years before he was even born, at least the majority of her time wasn't consumed with constant day by day fighting to survive...something he was a little envious about. But as he heard Nayru's thoughts on the matter, it made him realize that despite what all happened...he didn't regret the road he took after being exiled. He told Lena he wanted to become stronger all on his own, and whether or not he actually did succeed so far, he was just glad he was still alive...and meeting Nayru also changed him a bit for the best. Even if he somehow survived up until this point without her, he wasn't sure what he'd be doing right now.
"...Yeah. It's easy to just simply fight for your own survival, but then it starts to feel a little...sour after a while when it's purely for protecting your own life." He didn't bother to get too deep into detail about that, having a feeling she was going to understand regardless. He knew that he killed more than just bandits during his years of wander, and it sometimes made him feel bad to prioritize his own survival over another that barred his path for a similar sense of survival. But what Nayru said rang true to his ears. "...But our dream and promises we made for each other gives us more of a reason to keep fighting, so that they can be made a reality someday. At this point, I don't care much about what anyone else says about the moral of our actions. No matter how dark we or anyone else sees it, I want to keep walking down this path by your side. My heart tells me that this is what I want to do."
...Though Veigue had to catch himself when Naryu mentioned a creature inside of her. At first, he was puzzled a bit when pondering about it. However, it was starting to click into his mind now. "...A creature inside you? Is that related to what happened last night, and your previous transformations?" Hah...it always kept slipping his mind that Nayru's appearance was altered as well after her ordeal. Guess he didn't pay too much attention to it since he was still talking to the same person. Yeah, the transition from silver to black hair was so easy to miss...jeez, he needed some sleep soon.

"...Something like that," Nayru hesitantly admitted, still not entirely sure what had happened in the shadow temple, much less sure exactly how to explain it. "Normally, when I... lose control, I fall into something akin to a wakeless sleep - perhaps more of a coma - and awaken with no memory of what happened when I was out save for vague impressions... and the infernal hellscape I always awoke to."
That brought up too many memories. Blood, fire, and bodies... an amalgamation of nightmares given life and form. New life, born from that which had been stolen by her own actions; creation and destruction combined in a lurid symphony of sadism. Nayru swallowed, trying to will the visions away, but they were difficult to eradicate. A monument to all her sins. She focused on the previous day's event, attempting to trade one set of memories for another. "What happened yesterday was... different. I managed to retain consciousness long enough to gain the attention of the now-dominant... self?"
There was a note of hesitation, of confusion, in her words. Nayru couldn't even pretend to understand, and that removed any possibility of her convincing Veigue she did. "I was... drawn to a vaguely familiar stone temple, a setting forged in my mind... or perhaps a shared mind, I'm not sure, from memories not my own, and forced to battle my past self." She hesitated. "...Or perhaps a specter thereof; I'm not sure. She looked like me - this me, my original form."
The bedridden dragon chuckled darkly, at a sort of cosmic humor that had forgotten how to be funny. "Something akin to a battle against one's dark side, in theory, but something about the entire encounter was - wrong. As if I missed a fundamental truth... I ought to be glad that I seem to have full control of myself, and yet I feel as though I lost something to gain it. Something precious. A trade made in the dark..."
She shook her head. "It is something I must ponder, but the danger has passed. I think I shall not see her again"
So why did did she feel regret about that...?

Veigue had to admit to himself that he barely understood her explanation, and from the sound of things, Nayru didn't seem too sure herself. However, he was pretty sure that it was something he wasn't meant to understand when first told. After all, he was still slightly confused as to what would happen next. But from what Nayru had opened up to him about so far, he believed her regardless. Perhaps he simply shouldn't worry too much about the details, so long as she's okay and she could actually have a break from any transformations. That was one of the good things he was getting out of this, anyways. The mere thought of her having a mental struggle with someone who looked just like her seemed quite frightening, even for someone like him. The world and dragons were still quite a mystery, it seemed.
But he still couldn't help but worry a little more. Not at the fact that she may or may not transform again, but at how lucky he was for a change. When all of that went down yesterday, he only followed his gut to help with the situation...and he was quite frankly a little disappointed in himself for only being able to blindly help his friend out. Not to mention if he actually died, that would have only made her feel worse when she woke back up and learned about it. But it was all in the past now, and all of them were going to be fine. He just wished he had more power and information to come up with legitimate solutions instead of nearly getting himself killed all the time to accomplish something.
...a little solution did pop into his head though as Nayru finished talking, looking at his friend as he maintained a serious expression. "I don't quite get it entirely, but at the very least, you've been granted some relief of the situation, yes? I'm not sure what you'd have to do to harness your power more easily, but if there's anything I can do to help with that, you know that you don't even have to ask. I'll always be ready." His eyes closed for a bit, but obviously wasn't finished talking. "But, this all just means that...I have to become even stronger than before. If I could better my swordsmanship and become more stronger than I am now, you won't have to resort to using too much of your power. I'm going to work even harder towards that goal now, so the burden won't ever have to fall completely on your shoulders anymore."

She hadn't exactly gone into the conversation expecting to be able to adequately explain something she didn't understand in the first place, but it was not until after her fumbling explanation that Nayru realized just how unsatisfying her version of events had been. It lacked every bit of craftsmanship and showmanship alike that she had cultivated as a storyteller, not to mention anything resembling explanation or a very good ending. It was... difficult to discuss herself at the best of times, but the strangeness and confusion of the events had tied her tongue worse than usual.
Nayru moved her free hand to her forehead, wiping off some of her rebellious hair from where it lay in strands across her face, specifically her eyes, in a way that had been starting to grate at her - having more and wilder hair up front was something that was going to take some getting used to... again. Just... lying there wasn't something she had ever been good at, and while she had learned much of waiting during her travels, it had been merely that; the necessity of waiting, not the patience to endure or enjoy it.
Veigue was a good distraction though. So at least she had that going for her. He also seemed to be an expert at distracting himself, with things he didn't have to worry about as it so happened. Some little part of her brain, the bit that held what wisdom she had acquired but always ignored, pointed out how hypocritical it was for HER to judge ANYONE ELSE about being too tough on themselves; as usual, the dragon gleefully ignored it. "Well, it's not exactly... normal for a dragon to have trouble using their power. I'm sort of an outlier there. You don't have to worry about me hurting myself that way anymore."
That was actually kind of ridiculous, as it always had been, but she hadn't really thought about it that much in a long time. A -dragon- who couldn't even control their own power, who couldn't use their natural abilities without the threat of losing themselves entirely for a time. One for whom emotion dominated their existence, rather than the other way around. Oh, it was for the best she hadn't spoken of that with many other dragons, least of all Aerious. "Now that I can... I want to learn how to use it safely, to protect you and help others. We wouldn't be a very good team if it was just you protecting me, after all, and besides, what else am I supposed to do with all this phenomenal cosmic power?"
Nayru giggled to herself, clarion peals of innocent laughter at the thought. She was making light of the situation, yes, more so than she should perhaps, but it seemed an adequate route to redirect Veigue from his own thoughts - and she from hers. "I'm not saying you shouldn't aim for strength, just - remember that I'm here for you too, it's not all on you to be there for me, yanno?"

...Well, that threw him of guard for a moment there, left looking back to her and somewhat having a surprised expression. Despite the times he's already heard those kind of words from Nayru herself, hearing them now sort of hit him in a spot where he's never been struck before. He had no idea what to expect or what kind of emotions were trying to come up on their own, but he felt a little strange overall. This whole morning itself was full of surprises, it seemed...and the usually on-guard swordsman wasn't even prepared for any of it. Eventually, his eyes wandered a bit as a response seemed to escape him, seemingly trapped within his own mind. But then Veigue felt a little pressure in his chest before his vision seemed to blur a bit...then realizing his eyes were actually beginning to water, he quickly jerked his head away and turned his body.
"...agh." A silent and weak grunt escaped him as he blinked repeatedly to clear his vision. Well, this wasn't normal at all. Either some of the barely noticeable dust of the home got in his eyes, or he was experiencing emotions he honestly never felt before. For as far back as Veigue could even remember as a child, he never shed a single tear to save his soul, and even now, he refused to do so. A common emotion to many that was a foreign emotion to him. With his face and back still turned, he slowly raised his hand to feel the skin underneath his eye, feeling the wet, single drop on one of his fingers as he was just stuck there, unable to comprehend his reaction to those few, yet heartwarming words.
He's heard them before, but never in earnest like now. Or perhaps he's simply been keeping himself closed behind doors he shut a long time ago to hear or see the honesty of many obvious things. After a couple passing seconds, his hand moved to his chest, clenching it and his jacket with a light grip. How was he even supposed to respond to that? He hadn't had this much difficulty just speaking his mind...err, other than the many...many other times he's experienced the toughness of it, but at the very least, not on this level before.
"My...apologies." The tone in his voice lacked the usual calm demeanor he always upheld, and it was just a big mix of confusion and other expressive emotions he couldn't make sense of at the moment. Knowing that this wasn't exactly the time to finally lose his composure, he had to pull himself together for Nayru's sake. His moved his lips, but he began to hopelessly stutter before any words could even come out. Thank goodness that all did come out as nothing but quiet air, otherwise the actual words and his voice would have came out so wrong and embarrassing to where he knew he wouldn't be able to turn back to her for a long time. He inhaled silently as he allowed himself to finally calm down, but felt like he wasn't capable of saying too much at the moment, otherwise he'd trip all over his words. "...Perhaps you're right. I'll still aspire to new heights regardless, but I am grateful for your support and kindness..."

Well, that had, uh, backfired. Spectacularly, as it so happened, which was coincidentally exactly how most of her plans tended to end. The incredible irony of someone who was literally twenty times the age of most humans still somehow managing to be an awkward dumbass teenager was not lost on Nayru in the least, but it hadn't hit her quite how bad she actually was with people until now. For all her age and experience there was very little of actually opening up to people, and bereft of her previously fairly solid mental control, set adrift in the mind and body alike of someone who had by the standards of her people been a teenager when she left Arcadia, she was only now realizing how difficult it would be to bring her two 'selves' to coincide... and deal with her deepening friendship with Veigue in the process.
But in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't all that bad of a set of problems to deal with. Not compared to what she had been through. Not compared to what she had seen others go through. It was a strange sense of... Nayru wasn't sure what it was, exactly. Ennui? Satisfaction? Relief? It was a hybrid sensation, one comprised of multiple definitions, that would take time to decipher and understand - but for now, even if it was premature, one feeling dominated the rest. Peace. That she could forget what she had done, what she had been through, what she was, and simply... live. That, just maybe, everything was going to be okay.
She didn't know exactly what Veigue was thinking, but Nayru could make an educated guess, sensing in some ways a kindred spirit - she could never truly know what Veigue had been through, but it took someone scarred in many of the same ways to truly understand what that kind of lifestyle could do to someone - to be alone, truly alone, for most of their lives; to not have a home, a family, to return to - and she knew how cruel that truth would be. Many humans would be jealous of the power she had amassed, the incredible skill Veigue had with a blade... but their abilities had come with a cost, one too great for a single person to bear.
Perhaps there was something she could do.
"Veigue." Her words started with a barely perceptible tint of hesitation, despite Nayru's attempts to the contrary, as her emotions warred within her. It was all well and good to be the dispassionate, calm observer, but when one's own heartknew not the path forwards, the voice all too easily followed suit. She tried to push herself up a bit further in bed, into somewhat of a sitting position instead of just lying there like a coma victim, ignoring the veins of pain racing through her arms. "...That's what friends do for each other."
Once again, the irony of HER saying anything like that was not entirely lost on the crippled dragon, but at this point she couldn't really stop and pretend to have been joking - even she knew better than that. "You don't have to... thank me for doing the same thing you would do- have done for me already. One way or another, we're in this together now. You don't have to be so formal." She smiled, a genuine but weak look that betrayed some of her own awkwardness and weakness. "The prodigal son... and the prodigal daughter. If there is a god, he's a joker."

It was times like this when Veigue wished he had a better grasp of his natural human emotions. He understood what Nayru was saying, but he was having a difficult time internally on knowing exactly how to feel about things. The more he scrambled around in his head, the more those foreign emotions tried to take hold of him again like earlier. No doubt a result of casting aside his old self for so long that he forgot what it felt like to actually act like a normal person. Of course, being normal was boring anyway, but it hurt a bit to finally hit that realization that he built some stone fortress around himself over the years without really noticing it too well. Over time, he just became a near soulless human merely surviving in the shadows of Elibe...and that seemed to disturb him to most out of all.
...Friend. As much as he's heard that word so many times, knew the meaning of it and what it took to be a reliable person to another...but he couldn't understand at it's core what it truly meant to be a friend at heart. Being separated from his older sister for so long thinking he'd never see her again for the remainder of his life, he's gotten completely out of touch with the closeness of the human heart. For some reason, he thought keeping his hand over his chest was going to help bring some answers to the table, but that was just him being foolish. He just hopelessly rested his hands on his lap as he hunched over a bit.
As much as he talked big earlier about supporting Nayru until the very end, he feared that he wasn't truly capable of being all that reliable or useful to her in the long run. It was moments like this that got him to stop and think about the meaning of the things he says. He's usually more careful with his words, especially since he wasn't much of a talker to begin with. But all he did was honestly speak from his heart. Though that...didn't necessarily meant he understood all of his own babble. The whole concept of friendship...it was simple, yet complex at the same time. When one person gives their view on it, theirs become warped by another's perspective. All of this wanted to just tear his brain apart at this point.
"I understand that much, but how is it that..." He dropped his sentence pretty quickly, already coming to a blank as to how to continue it. His hands clenched tighter on his pants, feeling the struggle of trying to make sense of anything he's trying to say right now. His words were still obviously in the tone of a question. One he wasn't really expecting an answer to considering how it was going to come out as jumbled nonsense regardless. "...you can place that much faith in me? When I really sit down and think about it, I've never experienced genuine friendship until now. I've only had my time with Lena to go off of, but then when we were separated, I just ended up more clueless about how that sort of bond works. I just feel like you aren't really getting all that you deserve from me."
"...Sorry." Veigue had to stop himself there, not wanting to really complicate things any further. Asking that much of her was probably not the right thing to do, and it was likely either something he just had to come to understand on his own with time or wasn't supposed to think so hard on. It was probably a lot more simple than he was mentally exaggerating it not to be.

"A wise man once taught me," Nayru responded almost reflexively, her voice as deadly serious as the Ending Winter, "to be 'loyal and trustworthy to those you'd consider loved ones. No matter the circumstances.'" There might be something a little... familiar in those words to Veigue for some reason, and the tiny smile playing about the corners of her lips, hanging off each word, implied that Nayru was not entirely unaware of that possibility.
...The levity didn't last long, as it never really could in that sort of situation, but her initial counterargument had been made. The truth was simple - Nayru didn't have a whole lot of experience with friendship in the last few hundred years. She had in the past, a few girls around her age in Arcadia, perhaps Elly, but it had been so long since she was able to open up to anyone that they were but distant memories now. The reclining dragon didn't really have much better of an answer ready for Veigue, but she'd be damned if she let him wallow in misery the same way she had.
She didn't really have much more of a speech planned, and there was little she could say without making quite the hypocrite of herself, but it was obvious that Veigue needed her help, and Nayru couldn't just ignore that. So she roused herself to try a bit more. "Don't overthink it." There was probably some level of irony in -her- being the one to say as much, but she didn't care to dwell on that too much. "We'll figure it out together."

Hearing Nayru recite the same words he spoke earlier, the coincidence of her saying that while sitting in the exact same spot his mother did - when she told him that long ago - was quite the powerful feeling...and one he didn't know how to react to. Though he had somewhat of a feeling based off her expression that it was intentional on her part to a certain degree, and one he could appreciate. Perhaps he really was just overthinking things, allowing himself to silently sigh as he was going to leave it at that and not complicate things further with more outwardly broadcasted inner thoughts. At the very least, he managed to regain his composure to where he finally realized the tight grip he had on his pants. Veigue was just grateful that no more unfamiliar emotions began to well up suddenly, and hoped he didn't have to deal with anymore surprises...at least for now specifically, when he needed to kick himself into gear to be more supportive.
"...Fair enough, I suppose." There was little more he could say on the matter without ending up making himself feel worse, forcing himself to crack a smile. A sharp, but only a momentary pain in his head sort of triggered out of nowhere when he did that, feeling some of the after effects of all of that heavy thinking he was doing. He kept forgetting that the morning sun had already risen, so he had to remind himself to get some fresh air pretty soon before he'd end up making himself feel sick. He hadn't left the old family home ever since they got there, after all. And since Nayru seemed like she'd be fine, he didn't have much to worry about anymore.
With everything that transpired so far, Veigue's just glad they're all in one piece. The most he had to worry about now was just making sure he could leave the village without saying much of anything to anyone. As long as he kept things up the way they were now, that was certainly possible. But ignoring that little issue for now, he turned back to Nayru, as her situation was more important regardless. "Anyway, just take all the time you need to recuperate here. Hayle's probably on his way back with food for us all, so if you need anything, just ask."

Well - that had been a success. Nayru was glad that her words, albeit stolen, had caused some effect in Veigue. She was no great manipulator of hearts and minds, despite her age and experience, even before she had apparently... reverted somewhat, but it was nice to feel like she could make a positive difference sometimes. For all the times Veigue had been there for her, she was happy to return the favor. At least a little bit. As ever, she was left wishing she could do more - but without a silver tongue, she could only do what she could.
That sounded a bit redundant, didn't it? Hm. Anyways. Food didn't sound too bad, but neither did it sound like anything that was guaranteed to be happening in the immediate future going by Veigue's uncertainty. Normally, she would have been more focused on getting moving, on doing something, but now - Nayru felt almost as though she could just relax for a bit. Well - 'relax.' She grimaced a little at the thought of actually forcing enough essence through her atrophied magic circuits to reach anywhere near functional again.
On the bright side, it should, in theory, be MUCH easier to apply the many lessons she had learned about controlling her power over the years in her new - old? - body, without having to use calcified reinforcement to protect an impermanent form. She was hesitantly hopeful about that, anyways. It would take time to get to that point, but if there was one thing she had, it was time. The real question was if she would need that ability sooner, rather than later, and Nayru suspected the answer was much closer to the former than the latter if she was going to stick with Veigue for much longer. A wild ride that never ended.
"...I will need some time to... tune this body." There was more she wasn't saying, evident in her voice, but it was less an omission of deception so much as that Nayru honestly wasn't sure exactly how to explain what she had to do in terms Veigue would effectively understand - she didn't have a great deal of experience being a human after all to know exactly how to translate it, and she'd never really had to explain it before. It also didn't help that she was pretty sure most dragons didn't have these kinds of problems in the first place, which raised a number of questions, not least of which was 'what the hell is wrong with me?' "A day... perhaps two. I won't hold you up for long," she promised, a little too eagerly.

He still couldn't understand too much on the ordeal of Nayru getting adjusted to her body, but he didn't have her feelings nor experiences, so he just had to assume it was a very difficult process. Really though, if he somehow lost his body he was currently used to and got thrown into an unfamiliar one, he'd have some difficulty as well...IF that was the way it actually worked. But not like he needed to worry too much about that, seeing as Nayru was going to be fine in the end.
Though really, it was actually an interesting difference between human and dragon. Veigue had been holding it back for a while now, but he had always been interested to meet a dragon all due to his mother's positive influence from the great tales she told him in story books...and the irony of meeting Nayru was too great. Though his times of wishing he could ride on a dragon's back was childish dreams he had way back, and to avoid making Nayru feel anymore awkward, it was...prrrrrobably for the best he didn't bring that up. And he wasn't a kid anymore...despite wishing he had more opportunities to act like one when he was still a child. Ah, but the past was the past.
"Well, no need to make any deadlines for my sake. Just take your time and focus on getting better above all else." Based on his own current situation, he wasn't really in a position to call any shots anyways. As he spoke, he made his way to a corner of the room, but was still within talking range. The swordsman decided to take a seat on the floor itself with his back against the wall, seemingly trying to get into a comfortable position as he crossed his arms and shut his eyes. "...As always, just let me know if you need anything. Given the circumstances of us being in this village and my negotiations with the elder, I'm not going anywhere but here. It'd be a bad idea for me going out right now, so no worries."
...Heh. Not like he could go anywhere. And he'd rather keep Nayru company anyways, if she wanted it. It did bring him discomfort to be back in the village, but at the very least, he still felt some sort of sanctuary in being inside his home when blanking out the memories of his father. He also didn't know if the villagers would try to do anything harmful to Nayru while she was in her weakened state just because she's the swordsman's friend, so that gave him another reason to just stay inside for now.

Bad idea...? It took a moment to put the pieces together mentally, longer than it should have - Veigue had mentioned he was exiled from his village hadn't he. Hm. She should have remembered that immediately. Still - the oddly charged atmosphere seemed a little too weighty for her tastes. Maybe she'd try that levity thing. "Trapped like rats in a cage."
...That probably hadn't actually been funny, huh? Nayru backpedaled quickly, not wanting to deal with the fallout of that comment and its unintended implications any more than absolutely necessary. Veigue didn't seem to plan on heading anywhere, understandably, and making things any more awkward than necessary was probably not a great move for your temporary roommate. It would most likely be a wise move to come up with a more interesting and appropriate topic of discussion, which theoretically shouldn't be hard, since pretty much anything other than 'THE DRAGONS SHOULD HAVE WON THE WAR ALL HUMANS ARE SCUM' would be an improvement on that first comment.
She didn't really have any great ideas of what to talk about though. Normally she might have meditated to try to focus on her calibrations but to be compleeeeetely honest, Nayru's assessment was that her body would need some more time to repair itself to even a base level of functionality, much less in good enough condition to really worry that much about safely channeling her power, so rather than potentially injure herself she was gonna be stuck here lying down with nothing much to do for a while yet.

Wat
Well...that certainly slowly popped his eyes back open. The fact that Nayru said it so casually wasn't what surprised him a bit, but rather...giant spider in general. Normally, he would have been confused with the possibility, but remembering that rather...interesting experience in the Lycian forest with those giant monstrosities, it was much easier to believe. Would also explain how she seemed to have some experience dealing with them, but...somehow he doubt that was more important to think about. He was...actually kind of curious how that was even possible to pick up on those things in that manner, but this was Nayru he was thinking about here. What hasn't he seen her pick up nearly effortlessly at this point? She could pick him up and toss him at enemies no issue, but he...probably shouldn't give her any crazy ideas, otherwise he'd see himself hurled at his enemies frequently.
"...Huh." He wasn't really sure if he paused out of amazement or just not really knowing what to say. But he could kind of tell bit that this was just her way of trying to make use of the free time they've got while trapped in his old home. Not literally trapped, but...eh, same thing. "That ought be a rather interesting story...but I'll have to assume that wrestling Baels must be somewhat of a hobby?" His tone obviously had a bit of jest in it, but Veigue's natural poker face sort of says otherwise. Though...the more he thought about it, the more that could possibly be true. Maybe on her free time, Nayru DID go out pile driving spiders for sport. But he should probably stop before his mind conjures up even more silliness.

"Hell yeah, world champion, year 678 to present!" Her smile was a little forced - acting quite so animated was a little hard on her body, that fist pump might have been overdoing it a touch - but its counterpart in her eyes was genuine for multiple reasons. One, to put it simply, Nayru loved telling stories; nothing new, she'd been that way for centuries and that certainly hadn't changed anytime recently. Whether or not she was a fantastic storyteller was irrelevant, though she had learned much of the trade over the years. Secondly, her stories were less specifically for the enjoyment of the listener so much as a way to bring the past to life - to pass on stories that sometimes only she remembered of all the world.
People long gone, events of the recent past, harsh truths and pleasant falsehoods; so much of the story of the world - a sort of opening of the Akashic Records. There was so much good in the world that met early deaths, so many brave acts performed selflessly with the knowledge that none would ever know of them, that if she could do even a little to remind the world that they existed perhaps those events might live on.
"Back when it was just me an' Elly and Aerious" - there was a slight twinge to her pronunciation of his name, one Veigue might notice. "-We ended up under attack by Gargoyles based in a ruined fortress and went to investigate. Turns out a couple Ilians were nearby as well so we joined up with them to see what the story was with the monsters - they were supposed to have gone extinct long ago, obliterated by dragons before the dawn of human history... or somewhere in the early parts of it anyways, I've seen human ruins that make references to them and even some weirder crap I can't make heads or tails of, but that's another story entirely."
Nayru adjusted herself in the bed a bit, getting into her story with a sort of youthful exuberance, as if it had just happened the other day. "Aerious and I went in first since Elly was enamored of the pegasus rider and stepped in a Bael nest... literally in my case... good times. Guess we pissed off the mom, giant-ass broodmother, closing in on two stories tall. Aer did most of the fighting while I got knocked around like a sack of lumpy potatoes. Damn thing hit me so hard it hit me through the floor and through a couple feet of earth and stone. I'm not exactly sure how we ended up in an aerial battle on the big one's web, seemed like a good idea at the time I guess, but one thing came to another and I ended up jumping it right as Aerious punched it so hard it lost its grip and fell."
MAN that had been fun. Except for the part where she had pretty close to literally gotten the stuffing beaten out of her, and the stupid thing had actually broken her reinforcement straight up, not like bypassing it but straight up smashing it to bits. If Aerious hadn't been there she would have died watching its spawn eat her alive. So yeah, good times. "Anyways, long story short, I pretty much surfed it down to the ground where it exploded, 'cuz, yanno, gravity, giant spider meets ground, etc. The other group followed us in and took out the smaller ones while Aerious dragged me out bodily, Elly stabbed a gargoyle and then murdered a bunch of spiders like a god of war, and Clair - one of the ilians, turns out she was actually some bigshot in the army - started pumping out more lightning than I've ever done. Then Aerious transformed and burned the whole place down. ...That night, I mean, after everyone had left, not like while we were still in there. That would just be rude."
"Actually, that reminds me of the time I met another dragon, young guy, hermit, possibly crazy..."
The newly-vivacious dragon segued into another story with no mercy and no pause, caught up in the moment.

As Nayru began to tell the rather crazy, yet interesting tale, Veigue couldn't help but feel himself getting extremely drowsy as he was sitting on the floor and against the wall. He wasn't trying to be rude, as he was still listening to her. He wanted to at least fight it off until she finished. Thankfully though, her words were registering in his mind, so at the very least he was still enjoying the...rather unique experience they had. When she first spoke of Aerious' name, that sort of triggered a memory of not being able to recall what exactly happened to the man. Though when he put the pieces into his head and when Nayru got to that certain part of her story, it should have been obvious that the "historian" was actually a dragon as well. At least, when he found out about Nayru and thinking back on a conversation the two had. Nayru did mention what happened a while ago, but considering he was still a complete stranger at the time, he wasn't too worried. He didn't know if that made him a bad person or not.
But regardless, he never heard a story like that before, scratching his head as he was mixed between intrigued and a bit speechless. "I'm sort of half-glad I wasn't there and half-disappointed at the same time...must have been a frightening experience, but you make it sound so...fun, as well." Given how she told the story, that was just the vibe he was getting. Not that he had a problem with that. Nayru obviously was having a good time re-telling the events. It was as if he was hearing some great tale of heroes battling the forces of...dark(?) nature, and having an epic adventure at the same time. But as Nayru continued on with more of the story, Veigue was feeling himself getting weak and sleepy again, rubbing his eyes to try and stay awake. Maybe he should have at least got an hour or something of sleep when they got here last night, but he had his priorities.
"Actually, that reminds me of...."
That was the last thing he was hearing clearly from her, wanting to move his lips to speak, but his sleepiness was overpowering him. Soon, his eyes were permanently shut for slumber and he could fell his upper body tilting and leaning against the wall. His mouth was left slightly open at his attempt to speak...at this point already dozed off like a sleeping dog. Veigue wasn't normally a heavy sleeper, but his need for rest at the moment said otherwise. He would have slept underneath his old mat the villagers have been apparently taking care of and cleaning regularly, but Veigue didn't feel comfortable sleeping in something he didn't feel like was no longer his property...but not like he was thinking about that now. He was knocked out at that point.
