After everyone else got there's first Bee got hers. It was always smarter to pick last. That way you don't offend anybody or do something that is out of place. Of all the food on the dinner table Bee enjoyed the biscuits the most. Not because she helped butter them or because the fire used to cook them was pretty, it was the memories that flowed with the taste. She remembered her father's biscuits, as strange as that sounded. Her mother could cook, a little. Her father however was skilled with fire. When it came to shaping metal her mother was the woman. When it came to making dinner, well that fell to her father. As a merchant he had plenty of experiences with different foods and tastes. However exotic or tasteful the spices he brought home and cooked with nothing tasted better than a hot butter biscuit. There was something, homey about them.
"So what is with the hair", a question came out of the blue. Like a arrow it shot clean through the heart of Bee's moment of reminiscence. Some of the family were curious about Bee's unique hair style. It was not surprising though. You would rarely see such high class hair styling out here in the middle of nowhere. They must be in awe of its shape and color. Both were prized by the maiden.
"Oh you noticed my flat top", spoke Bee as she motioned her hands following the tower up. She made sure not to actually touch it because it had gel in it. She did not want to get any of that on her hands. It tasted horrible.
"Yeah we noticed it", chuckled a few of them as they stared at Bee. It was clear to the maiden that they did not particularly like it. It was not surprising. Country folk were always backwater so them not liking something as stylish as Bee's hair was not surprising.
"Well", spoke Bee ignoring all criticism and sticking her chest out in pride. "I do my hair myself, and made the gel that keeps it up myself. It is a long and tedious process, but having brilliant hair is worth the work. Besides this hair style does not catch on fire as easily as my natural look. When my hair is not all up it curls around everywhere and even hangs over my eyes."
"Your a curly", spoke one of the young lads in fascination. The idea of somebody having curly hair seemed amazing to him. The young boy had no idea how blessed he was to have straight hair, or close to straight hair. Bee's hair was always a nightmare.

Aeos listened in on Bee's explanation on her hair. In the short amount of time he lad been with the young girl he could not imagine her with another hairstyle. He was already accustomed to seeing her unique hair style. Aeos' hair was straight too but a frizzy nightmare in warm wet weather. He usually keeps it braided during the hot muggy months to avoid having to deal with it.
Long hair among men he noticed in his time abroad was kind of uncommon. In Nabata short hair was all the rage since it was easy to maintain in the hot dry heat. Although most of the nomads would keep their hair and face covered in cloth. It was an odd concept keeping one's hair and face covered in hot sunny weather. But it worked to keep the rest of the body cool. He didn't know how it worked. But it did. The heat and cold did not bother him much, but in order to keep appearances his parents would wrap up their heads. He dismissed the practice once he set foot on the trader's ship.
Once dinner was wrapped up the plates were collected. There was not a speck of food left and everyone seemed to have eaten their fill. Aeos got up and helped with the collection. The girls of the family began with their nightly chore of cleaning. Some got up to do crafts like sewing.
Aeos frowned a bit not really sure what he should be doing. He decided to write in his journal. He wrote in some detail the events of the day so that he would not forget. He would be sure to include mention of the Saladin family in his letters back home. Bee would be mentioned in his letters home too.

After a long conversation about hair and Bee's new discovery that farm people cared less about there hair than she thought Bee prepared to go to bed. Lucky for her nobody assigned her any jobs, though she was still not sure were the two of them would be sleeping. Going off by herself Bee boiled a pot of water in preparation of her nightly ritual. Her hair style was all the rage, but it was useless when one wanted to lay down there head. The gel would get on anything she put her head down on and to make it worse it would harden if she let it sit for twenty four hours. Bee was not looking forward to trying to get the harden clumps out her hair so every night it had to come out, and that meant that Bee had to remove it. Taking a rag and soaking it in hot water Bee began the process. The maiden squeezed out water atop her head causing the gel like substance to turn into a running fluid. It was amazing what a little heat and water could do. Though water alone would dissolve the mixture, but the heat sped the process up exponentially. As soon as the gel was out of Bee's hair the curls began to set back in. The long strands wrapped around themselves and a mesh of hair began to pool over Bee's eyes. "There it goes again", spoke Bee as she let out a sigh. It was so annoying to change her hair style, but it had to be done. After cleaning up her hair Bee moved to figure out were she would be sleeping. She prayed that the forest was not her destination, but by this point she thought she had earned that bed or at least a pile of hay. As Bee walked by she saw a familiar face writing in a book. "Oh Aeos your a writer", spoke Bee. The young maiden had no idea about the concept of a journal. Bee knew her letters and the words, but she never wrote for personal reasons. The only time the maiden put ink to paper was for the old Shaman a few years back. Even thin it was always business. Bee was making copies of notes and observations that he wanted spares of. It was boring work, but enlightening to anybody who studied magic. From Bee's point of view there was only two reason to write. The first if you are taking notes and the second to copy notes. Since Aeos was not a mage, well she did not think he was, then he must be a writer. One of these people who write about magic, but never participate in it. Attachments:

"Hmm?" Aeos perked his head up to Bee who had come near him.
"Oh no dear Bee I am no novelist. This be a simple journal of my encounters." He showed her a few pages.
"Tis be something for me to read and remember. In the future. Also for me to write back home about." The words on the pages were very neat but painfully dull. His writing although accurate, lacked artistic flare. He literally described all of the things he had done on the farm. Who he had met.
"I am my parents only child. So it's important that I write home to them. And let them know my adventures outside the border. If I do not.. 'check in' with them in letters. They would'st abandon their life in the desert to search for me. I do'th not wish to cause them that burden." He smiled softly.
"I hope you do not mind if I make a mention of thee Bee. If it bother's thee I can keep thy name out. I'm certain my mother would be shocked to hear about your hair. She always kept hers very long. I remember once we had a small outbreak of head lice. The three oft us had to shear our heads. Thou should ha'th seen the look upon her face when she saw her self in the reflection." He did his best to make an impression of a shocked elder woman's face. He stopped with the funny face and returned to writing some things.
"Would thou like for me to mention anything in particular? Or perhaps you would like to give thy hand a try at writing." He motioned for her to sit down next to him.

"Actually it would be the exact opposite", spoke Bee as she walked closer to the accused novelist. "I would be fiercely upset if you did not mention me in your letters. I am interesting enough that anybody would like to hear about me and besides I have the greatest hairstyle in all of Elibi. To leave out such a detail would be a slight against your readers", spoke Bee as she took a prideful pose. The bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral, that was Bee's motto. She would never be forgotten. At the end of the era people will talk about wars, politicians, disasters, and Bee. It was a fine goal, but to be truthful it was almost unreachable. Though that did not stop Bee from trying. Still over inflating yourself was a quick way to make enemies and destroy friendships. So Bee knew she had to lay off it a bit.
"Nah I am just messing with you Aeos. Still I have no problem with you mentioning me in your letters back home. Though if you do you have to get my hair right. It is the best and most interesting feature about me", spoke the maiden as she moved over to the paper. She looked at Aeos words and realized that the dragon was right. He was no novelist. A historian maybe, but no novelist.
"Ok let me try my hand at it", spoke Bee as she set her pin down to paper. Before the young maiden could begin writing she had to push her hair out of her eyes. The messy blob seemed to go everywhere and her eyelids were no exception.
Hello there Mr and Ms. Aeos's parents. I am Bee. The young girl Aeos spoke about that was named after the insect. Aeos' writing skills are both interesting and proper, but he does not truly capture the hard work and majesty of my appearance. First off you have to understand that I, like yourselves am a native to the great desert that rules the south. Naturally I have a tan appearance, similar to the light reflecting off the setting sun. My hair is a brilliant pink that closely resembles the flowers of the spring. Boldly and brilliantly it shoots up like a great tower. Each hair strand stood firm holding its place like a tree in the forest. With hair no longer blocking my face the beautiful once blue eyes stand out, and my long eye lashes mesmerize all who lay eyes upon them. With pride and joy I can say that I am clearly a Queen Bee, a rank above your average 15 year old maiden.
"There done", spoke Bee as she finished writing. She was sure it would impress, though she embellished a lot and made herself sound like a narcissist. "It is a pity you can not express fire words. If I could I would have a brilliant flame burning behind each letter as you read it. It would make such a fine letter. Hmm, maybe with a little magic. Well that was a subject for another time. So Aeos what do you think", she asked. Her moon eyes lit up with anticipation like the stars in the night sky.

Aeos read Bee's contribution to his notes. Her writing reflected her personality down to a T.
"Well then Miss Queen Bee. I am sure my parents would be ecstatic to read this. When I do write it off for the post I shall copy it down exactly as is. And I shall treasure thy written notes for as long as I am upon this earth." He smiled. Part of him on the inside frowned. He knew that he would outlive Bee. As he had outlived so many others.
"I believe thou art one step closer to thy dream. See in this book Thou hast written. Books when taken care of properly can out live men. And thus these words. Thy record. Would outlive people. And those future people who read it. Shall learn of thee Bee."
"That is oft course they bother to look within this humble journal of mine. If thy dream bares fruit, then you would be written oft in many history books. The envy of future queens!" He spoke trying to instill some hope. He knew most humans do not strike it big unless they were born within the right family. Or slayed some tyrant and freed the people. No he knew how most people were lost to history.
He knew how history was lost to history. The truth of past actions were often misconstrued by the future generation in such a manner that fuels the desire and greed of men. The scouring as his parents recalled was one such incident. They would often tell him of stories of how the land was torn asunder by war and many people's potential stories were wiped out by the opposition. So much unneeded death. Aeos did not show that side of him to Bee. He did not wish to crush the girl's dream, because that would be exceptionally mean. And She did not do anything to him to warrant such disappointment.
Slowly the family started to break up. The children went upstairs to their little corner of the house. Those who were assigned to sleep in the barn grabbed some torches and left over fruit before heading off. Bee and Aeos were given two blankets and a small patch of floor by the fire to sleep on.
"Looks like it be close to sleep time. Bee what will thou be doing in the morning?"

Aeos was nice and that was nice. Bee had meet a lot of people during her travels and few of them were as nice as Aeos. Not only did he listen to her rambling, but he also allowed her to write in his journal. If that was not nice then Bee did not know what nice was. If only more people were like Aeos, the world would be such a better place. Most of the people she meet on her journey were down right mean or crocked. She remembered this one guy who came up to her and said he wanted to punch her in the face. It was hard to believe, but apparently she had a punch me face. There was another guy who tried to jilt her out of her money. That guy was pretty big to. Huge arms with a orange buzz cut. Then there was that pink haired lady who tried to kill her. She was lucky to get out of that one in once piece. Who would believe that women were bandits! Bee was sure that was a male dominated profession, but nope women were bandits too. So every good person Bee meet was like a small gem. It reminded her that those people who tried to do her wrong were abnormal and that the world was a much brighter place, or at least she hoped. Her life disagreed and so did her travels. However Bee refused to accept that the world was that way. If you hope for it long enough, maybe it would come true.
"Tomorrow", spoke Bee as she stared into the fire. Once again she was drawn in by the brilliant color of the flames and the warmth that came with them. She always loved fire and the soothing memories that came with it only reenforced it. "I don't really know Aeos", spoke Bee. "I was really just wondering around this area just checking out the landscape. In truth I was just seeing the world. So after tomorrow I will probably just keep on my journey. Maybe I will visit all the city states in Lycia or cross over the mountains and go to Bern. I heard Bern was in chaos so it is probably not wise to go there for a while. Still might go to just see the mountains. I heard they are high and filled with Wyverns. I wounder if Wyverns can breath fire. It must be cool to breath fire."
Bee paused for a moment before she moved onto her next statement. She had to take a moment to clear her mind of a image of herself spitting flames. "So Aeos what are you going to do tomorrow", she spoke returning the favor.

"Hmm.. I plan to make my way towards Sacae. In the west." He finished writing the events of the day in his journal. He folded a corner of one of the pages and closed the book. Then put it away into his bag.
"I have already seen the sea of water. The sea of sand. It is time for me to see the sea of grass." He slowly started to make himself comfortable.
"I imagine it would be much like the farmlands. With waves and waves of grasses like the rows oft corn and wheat. I believe I may have had my fair share oft the mountains. The mountains oft the southern side of Nabatan specifically. They taught me how to climb and also how too become stuck." The tired of the day was starting to catch up with him.
"Wyverns sound like fascinating creatures. I ave heard tales that Wyverns are a sub species oft dragon. Or perhaps it is the dragons that be the sub species oft them. As for the fire breath... would that not burn thy tongue? Tis a shame we might have to part ways come morn. But the world works in mysterious ways. Our paths might cross again. Unless thou doth not mind traveling with me west for a little bit." He yawned. But he did it politely covering his mouth and then saying excuse me right after.
"Ah. Pardon. It seems that the day's work hast started to catch up with my body. Or perhaps tis be the.. food sleep. The meal wast truly delicious." He rubbed his stomach in happy agreement.

It did not take Bee long to go to sleep. The work had drained much more out of her than she knew. The maiden was use to casting spells and watching things Burn, not slopping hogs and peeling pees. That was farm work and at this moment Bee as was now sure that she never wanted to be a farmer. Though the big family was a bonus. Having relatives around would not only be useful, but fun. It is funny how she never really thought about this stuff till she was about to go to sleep. Her mind always focused on the day till the sun went down. Then it wondered to the past. It brought up the things she wanted to remember, the things she wanted to forget, and the things that could be. Still there was a long trip awaiting her in the morning. She needed to get to some place that had Inns and people. Farm life was hard life, and Bee liked things easy.
As the maiden slept she dreamed of Butterflies and Fires. The two greatest things in the world for her. She also dreamed of Aeos, though she did not know why. Maybe it was because he was kind, or because that he reminded her of the two. Gentle like a butterfly, but unpredictable like a fire. As much as Aeos talked about traveling he never spoke of fighting. He did not carry a sword, nor did he have a spear. Maybe Aeos was also a mage, it would explain the smoke smell. Though that may be the fire. Or Bee's own clothing. She hung around fire a little to much.
As the sun rose over the horizon Bee was already gone. Like the farmers Bee's day started before the sun ever rose over the horizon. She had to reset her hair and move on. There was a lot of the world to see and a certain somebody she did not want to find her. Stay to long in once place and the whispers and rumors of her will allow him to catch up. "Bye bye Aeos", spoke Bee as she walked away from the farm. She left him a little note of thanks before she departed. It was good to meet nice people.

Aoes watched Bee sleep for a moment and promptly went to sleep right after her. He had a nice cozy spot by the fireplace and the wall. His sleep was full of warmth and pleasant dreams. Specifically dreams of fish and of his coastal-desert homeland. He awoke shortly after the Saladin family had. The group had already began preparing breakfast and continuing on their routine. He stretched a bit and looked around Bee was nowhere to be found. He looked around at his personal effects and found her note. It seemed that she had left sometime earlier. He quietly tucked the note into his journal. He was a bit sad to see that she did not manage to say good bye to him in person. But he dismissed it. Bee was Bee and perhaps she was not fond of good byes.
The Saladien family gave him some bread and eggs for him to eat. They insisted he take a little bit of foodstuffs with him for his travels. Which he did. Aeos ate, paid his respects and quietly left. He did not know where he was going but he didn't seem to mind it at all. Once again he found himself entranced by the lush greenery of Lycia. The farm hand experience was one that he would treasure for quite some time.
The a gentle breeze graced over him and Aeos instinctively began to read it. The spirit of the breeze had promised the young dragon a day of pleasant weather. And so he continued to walk. --
END THREAD.
