“Right, calm. Super ultra-calm! I can totally do that,” Liv lied, although she honestly believed herself capable at that moment. Sure her and calm never really worked together unless ‘not’ was between them. Poor Samantha will learn that soon enough.
“Huzzah!” she cheered, jumping up and down excitedly as soon as she unlatched herself from the woman. She darted about the mage, the energy soon buzzing even greater than before. After like the third cheer, the air behind her crackled and erupted, causing a small fiery explosion to manifest over her head. She yelped in surprise, tumbling into the snow and rolling a bit forward.
“I’m okay!” she said, not really convincingly nor was she trying all that hard. Getting hurt was all part of being a kid though. She bounced up rather quickly for someone who had managed to make the air about her explode without meaning to. The surprise had passed and it didn’t seem to do any real damage to anyone. It wasn’t until moments after did she realize her fault.
“S-sorry,” she apologized, not able to meet any of the two in the eyes. She didn’t mean it to happen, it just sort of did it on its own. Well it was all her excess uncontrolled energy and eagerness to do magic fault, but that wasn’t an excuse she could use anymore. As though to properly apologize, she moved over and clung to the other mage’s clothes.
“I promise to listen, I can be a good mage, I swear!” she pleaded, hoping her sudden display of power won’t turn the woman away.

Samantha couldn't help but smile. The young girl clearly had a lot of work in her future, but her enthusiasm was encouraging. It was something you needed when trying to better yourself in any aspect of your life. She knelt down in front of the small mage, looking into her eyes as she spoke. "I have faith that you will become a very good mage, Liv. You might even become strong enough to be a sage someday. But until then, you have a lot of work ahead of you." This was one thing she was certain of was that there would be a lot of work. In her own life, she knew that she had a long way to go before she was anything special when it came to her magic. Someone as young as Liv, no matter how promising, would have even further to go.
Putting her hand on the girl's shoulder, she continued. "It'll take a lot of time and effort, but I believe in you. You clearly have a great deal of power inside you, but you'll need to learn how to control that power. If you can do that, there's nothing you can't do." She she meant it. If she was brimming with this much energy at such a young age, given time and experience, she would only become stronger. If she used those powers the right way, she could become much strong that Samantha ever could. It was interesting. She should be disappointed that others had the potential to be stronger than her, but at the same time it gave her something to strive for. And that's never a bad thing.

“A…a sage?” Liv asked her eyes widening at the word. She had only heard that word a few times and got the idea that it meant a very good mage. She lacked the experience to know how much better, but she’ll find out one day. Honestly, Liv had very little plans beyond becoming an adequate mage. Everything she had ever done and was doing, is for her big sister. Having a child was troublesome and she tried her best to keep out of her way.
“That’ll be so cool…but I’m not sure I want to be a sage…I mean, what does it mean to be a sage?” she asked, rather confused. It can’t be just a more super strong mage, then what was the point of just making a new title? It sounded important, but she couldn’t tell why. Did Samantha want to become a sage? It sounded like something to aspire to, though Liv’s first goal was competency.
“I can so put in the time and effort!” she chimed in, puffing up her chest and clapping her hands together. There was one thing she believed in and that was her interest in magic. Fire magic had just been the only one she had access to learning. Plus her former teacher didn’t want her anywhere close to dark magic and feared that her learning light magic is going to blind the whole town. She really couldn’t argue and took whatever lessons he was willing to impart.
“What about you Samantha? I want to use my magic to help it big sis one day, but what did you learn magic for?”

Samantha couldn't help but smile at Liv's curiosity about everything. It reminded her a bit of herself, minus the excess of energy of course. She shifted around slightly as she stayed knelt to get a little bit more comfortable as she began to speak again. "A sage is a mage who has moved beyond simply anima magic. Instead of only being able to use magic like we do, such as fire, lightning, or wind, a sage can also wield light magic and different magical staffs. It depends on how each specific mage decides to train, so some decide to work on mastering light magic, while other choose to learn how to wield staffs. It takes years and years just to become a strong mage, and even more time to rise to a sage. Those are the best of the best."
She paused when Liv asked her why did she want to learn magic. She wish that she had as nice a reason as Liv did, but alas it was somewhat more selfish. "I love knowledge. I love information. To me, nothing is more interesting than learning something that you didn't know before, and magic is a big part of that. There's so much out there that I don't know, and it's my goal to learn as much as I can. I would love nothing more than to learn how to master all the different types of anima magic out there, and if possible, move onto even more." It was at this point that she realized she had been talking more to Liv than she had most of her friends back home. There really was something special about this girl. She smiled again. "I'm sure you will help your sister someday. I have faith in you."

"That sounds like a lot above me," Liv stated, holding up her hands. She hadn't thought beyond fire magic much less over anima magic. She tried imagining it, but failed to do so. In the end, her simple nature had run through. When it was time for her to become a sage, she will do it. Perhaps by then, she can finally light a campfire with her magic. It will be a glorious day, at least that was what she wholeheartedly believed.
"I like learning too!" Liv cheered on, even if she was lying a little. Sure she was happy to learn new stuff, but it was without a doubt also very tiring. Even when she got tired, she never did stop. Learning was boring at times too, having to redo the same thing over and over again. It was supposed to help her control her magic, but she hadn't seen an improvement just yet. Maybe one day, but it didn't seem as though it'll be anytime soon.
"Well I like the idea of learning, but gosh Samantha, I don't think I'll be as smart as you," she admitted, looking up at the woman. Without a doubt she doesn't measure up to someone who actually pursues knowledge instead of someone who uses magic practically as horseplay at times. Oh yes, she respected the power, for the most part, but she never understood how dangerous it could truly be.
"I don't think wanting to learn is bad, I mean if you learn lots of stuff you can teach and help others with the stuff too right?" she asked, putting up her own twist on the though.
"So I think we should totally start learning," she said beaming, jumping a few hoops.
