Mel heaved again, their light lunch from hours before bubbling up and overflowing through her tightly clenched fingers with the force of a battering ram. She could not pinpoint just where such things were coming from, her stomach slowly uncurling itself from the vicious knots that had plagued her for weeks on end. Whatever it was somehow it was helping, the loud roar of the thunder pressing up against her ears almost comforting. She didn't want to think, to breathe, instead the silver-haired girl was content with simply sitting there and allowing the rest of the world to rot about her.
However, she certainly was not allowed such pitiful peace of mind with such a loud companion such as Jude. Her mind previously wiped blank, she had almost forgotten the teen standing there completely. He wasn't towering over her anymore, worming his way back into her thoughts and filling them with a firm tug on her collar. His face was flushed a vibrant crimson that stood out among their muted surroundings, nose crinkled up as he hiccuped out and apology. He looked so ridiculous that she did not even question the reason for him apologizing so profusely, the corners of her lips twitching as Mel examined him. Jude pulled himself closer, murmuring his heart wrenching as he pulled her close to his chest in an awkward embrace that made her chest pound.
Was he crying? Crying?! For what purpose?
Mel supposed that she was supposed to be the one to weep at the graves of her parents, it was certainly something that someone would expect from her. Yet somehow Jude's tears were strangely freeing, the suffocating feeling that had overtaken her the lats few weeks simply fading away. The silver-haired girl felt light, a weight lifted from her heart that had stifled it for far longer than her meeting with Shugo. Her parents lay here beneath the ground, and Jude wept for them as if they were his own.
Her chest heaved as laughter trickled from her lips, unable to contain the irrational smile that burst across his features. Mel's fingers pressed to his cheeks, gently wiping away his warm tears with her thumbs and streaking his face with mud. The thunder roared off in the distance as the storm drew further away, the heavy drops soon waning to become mere trickles from the treetops. The wind still blew fiercely and the air stayed frightfully cold, however from a crack in the dark clouds the sun peered through.
"You're ridiculous" the girl murmured, only now aware of the warm tears running down her own cheeks as she basked in ill founded mirth. "And we're going to get sick if you're so content to stay sitting in muck over rotting corpses." She bowed her head against the boy's chest, withdrawing her hands from his cheeks to wipe away at her own tears. "Ah..." Mel sighed and snickered, the fit of giggles that had taken over subsiding rather quickly as she shivered in the chill. "M'tired now, let's go find somewhere to rest u-" She sneezed loudly and wiped at her nose, adding in a grudging "...and dry off" as an afterthought.
