Days had went by as the two, the thief Claira and the Champion Orcleous was riding. They took many long trails to make sure that they weren't followed by his brother Agis and Apprentice Xeldine. With night slowly coming as the sun lowered to the horizon. Claira and Orcleous had crossed into Sacae's northern border past the mountains. Near a small clump of woods, the thief broke away and headed for it. Going into it, Claira hopped off her Mare and walked them both in. After a short walk, Claira would take the saddle off the mare and tossed it to the ground. Taking out a small water skin, Claira would sip some of the water. The blonde thief undid the straps for her armour, letting the front abd back pieces of her torso's armor fall to the ground. Thinking for a small moment, she reached down and placed the chest plate in front of the mare. Claira would dump the rest of the water in the armor. The horse lowered its head and began to drink up what was left of the water. Patting the horse's head. "Good girl. Good girl."
Leaning against a thin tree, Claira slid down it and kicked her legs out. Letting out a brief sigh of relief. Running her hands through the leaves and grass. Taking in a deep breath of the air, Claira smiled for a moment. "I'm back home...to long...to long have I been gone. Now...at this moment, gotta figure what we are going to make. Might have to go hunting or even put up a few traps and gather again some edible plants. Don't know if Orcleous has anything in his saddle bags. If he does, then I can restock up on some fresh meat and vegetation." She said out loud. Another sigh came out of her and she felt her eyes begin to get heavy. Soin enough, Claira fell asleep. Her horse walked over to her and laid down next to the thief. A few twigs breaking snapped her awake, drawing out her steel daggers. Once she saw who it was, she leaned back again stretching. "Oh it's you Orcy...how long was I out?" It felt to her she was asleep for ten minutes, but was actually out for about three hours. Taking out a blood root from her bag, Claira would take a bite from it and chew for a while. "Want me to go and trap some fresh meat? It's going to take a day or two to reach my village. Would be better to stock up on some food while we can. You know?"

So Orcleous brother managed to be annoying even when he was not there. Thanks to him and Xeldine the duo had to take some very round about routes. Though Orcleous thought it was a waste of time. He did not think the two of them could track them to be honest. Xeldine did not have the skill and though Agis did do some hunting with there father he never excelled at it. Now if it had been Theokoles Orcleous would have been worried. If there was ever a god of hunting Theokoles would be his avatar on earth. From a simple depression in the ground he could tell you a hundred things. He had both the eyes and the patience for the hunt. His skill with the lance was just as good. Orcleous once saw him take down a boar by himself with a spear.
As Orcleous followed behind Claira he saw the maiden take off her armor and pour water into it. It was a strange site, but since she fell asleep so fast he figured she was tired. Orcleous horse had done a lot of work too. The road was long and Orcleous was heavy. The Champion had picked up on a much heavier suit of armor while he was back at home. It was no longer the simple breastplate and arm gauntlets he usually wore. Now it was a full suit of plate armor. Almost every part of his body was covered with steel. Plate mail on top of leather, with chainamail underneath. It would make fighting on foot more difficult, but Orcleous was trying to be more defensive now. This paradigm shift came as a result of his battles with the slavers. All the pot shots they where taking at him with the arrows made him rethink his defense. Though it did make it harder for him to dodge attack. That is what Dynomite came in handy for. The big burly brenesse charge has not only the power to carry Orcleous and all his armor, but also his weapons as well. With Xigshaw on that list, well enough said.
Dismounting his horse Orcleous took out a pan from the saddle bag. Putting it on the ground he poured out half of his water container into it and let the horse have its drink. The beast was going to need to eat a lot to keep up its strength. Orcleous did not bother to tie his horse up. Instead he simply let it graze on the grass around. If sacae had anything it had grass in spades. Leaning back on a tree Orlcoeus let Claira sleep. At the time he was not sleepy. Orcleous had a lot of other things on his mind. There goal was to find Claira's hometown. She may not be thinking about it at the moment, but Orcleous had placed a lot of thought into the subject. There was no way that the slavers would not be there waiting for them. It only made sense. When would a escape slave go, but home. The Champion had to ready himself mentally for the battle that would soon to come.
Opening up his back pocket Orcleous pulled out a few pieces of deer jerky and began to nibble on it. While he did so he created a small pit into the ground and began to boil two potatoes he still had left from home. If they had not left in a hurry Orcleous could have gotten a lot more from the neighbors. Miss Sherly usually had more than she needed and would have either given them to them or sold them cheap. She was a nice women, Orcleous felt bad he did not stop by and visit her while he was in. There was a lot of stuff going on and life is just like that. After the two potatoes cooked Orcleuous ate one and saved the other for Claira. He then took out his longsword and began to practice his swings. There was something about riding on the back of a horse. It always made him feel a bit weaker. It was all in his head mind you, but the very idea was a threat in its own right. So Orlcoeus would always remember to train before the end of the day. It not only kept him sharp, but dispelled the thoughts creeping into his head.
After three hours Claira awoke. "Sup sleepy head", spoke Orcleous as he sheathed his blade. She was always so jumpy, thought he understood the root cause. "Three hours", he spoke as he walked over and grabbed the pan he cooked the potato in. "It would be good to stock up", spoke Orcleous as he offered her the pan. "However you need to eat something before you go running around. The potato will give you energy and the jerky will help you some strength. Though personally I would rather put that off till the morning. The horses need some rest and being out on the plains at night does not seem like a good idea too me." The moment Orcleuous spoke a image filled his mind. He remembered the beast that walked the plains and its dark aura that flowed off it. "The plains are not safe at night", he spoke as he walked back and sat under a tree.

Claira rubbed her eyes and stretched a bit. "Three hours? Wow...seems shorter then that. You could have woken me up, it doesn't bother me to be up with you." Standing up, she would look around as darkness was already upon them. Closing her eyes, she embraced the feeling of being back in her homeland. Sniffing the air, she'd turned her head towards him as she saw the deer jerky and the potato that was in the pot. Walking over tot he pot, she'd kneel down. With her Steel dagger, the thief slowly stabbed it and lifted it up. Taking a small bite. Her hand would come up and take one of the pieces of deer jerky. "Thank you Orcleous." Putting half of the jerky into the still hot water, she'd let the meat absorb the potato flavored water. After a bit of letting it soak, Claira took it out and took a small bite from that as well. Closing her eyes as she chewed her food. After swallowing, she looked at him as he sat down under a tree. He seemed a bit tense. As if he had seen something. "I don't need my mare to go setting up a few snares. But, your right. I'll wait til tomorrow to set them up. Might take a while for them to catch anything." Taking another bite from the potato, her jade colored eyes looked at the flickering fire. It was showing signs of it dying. Setting the dagger with the potato down onto a pile of leaves, Claira stood up and went into the darkness. The sounds of twigs and small branches snapping was heard. Then she would come back into the dim light. Putting a small pile of wood on the ground. Taking the twigs in handfuls, she threw them into the fire. The light brighten a bit, then she would add one of the branches to it. Sitting back down, the thief picked up her potato and began to eat it again until it was fully gone. Shifting her eyes again, they would rest on him again. A small smile came over her as she watched him sitting there. "Get some rest love. I'll stay up and take watch. And don't give me the ' I got the armor and I'm the guy' please, rest You're running on fumes now." Getting up again, she went and retrieved her armor from which she let her mare drinking from. Strapping the armor back on, she took out her other dagger and picked up the one she used for eating.
Undoing her cloak, it fell to the ground where she was sleeping at. Looking up at another tree, she saw it was sturdy enough for her. But as for Orcleous, climbing up it. She'd begin to chuckle a bit at the thought of Orcleous climbing the tree after her. Putting her daggers in their sheathes, she ran to it and jumped. Grabbing a sturdy branch and pulling herself up. Orcleous could see her climbing up it. Her wounds had healed. But a dull ache began to sink in as she stopped and sat down on another branch. Leaning her back against the base of the tree, she would look across the area. It gave her time to think high up in the tree. She wasn't going to let Orcleous to argue about her taking watch. The thief was already half way up the tree and it was far enough for her to see their surroundings. In her head she would begin to say to herself. "Where is Orcleous taking us? He hasn't said a word about our destination, just that we were going to Sacae. Is he taking us to...my village? But for what reasons? It's common sense that the Slavers would be watching over the village like hungry predators. I doubt he wants to meet my parents right now...he hasn't been acting himself since we left his Village in Bern. Is he mad about something or worried that Xeldine and Agis will find us? No, I doubt it. We lost them before we left Bern...I hope." Sighing quietly to herself, her eyes looked down at Orcleous. "What is going through his mind?" Taking one of the daggers out, the thief began then snapped a twig off and began to cutting it down into thin sharp points. Off in the distance the howls of wolves were heard. It was a soothing sound to her as she looked out towards the direction. By the sounds, they were far away from them. The moon was full tonight. A gentle breeze swept through making her hair flicker a bit with it. Talking to herself now, "Sacae, how I've missed you. You've changed so much since I was last in your arms. Please, show us the way and keep us safe on our travels. This is all I ask of you."
Further away, at the Village of Claira. Village Dagerheir.
One of the lower rats came walking up to his leader, who was encased in nothing but armor and held a massive Lance with an equal size Axe on his back. The symbol of a bear was etched into the breast plate of the man's armor. "Thon, I have word that a maiden fitting most of Raven's description has past through the border in Sacae and is accompanied with a man in steel armor. Would you want me to go out and see if it is her?" The armored figured turned to face the small rat. "No. If it is her, we will wait here for her. If it isn't, then she will have no intentions of coming to a village so far away then. Tell the men to prepare for her. I'll send a rider out to let Father know." The rat bowed before the Bear and left the area to follow the orders. When Thon moved, the ground vibrated a bit as he went to a Cavalier. "You! Ride out to Father, and let him know that a woman fitting the description of Raven is in Sacae. That we will send word once we retrieve her." The person on top of the horse bowed and smacked the reigns, making the horse running at full speed. The black horse was a Bernese Charger. It's heavy hooves slammed the ground as the armor figure rode into the night. Thon stood in position at the dead center of the village talking to himself. "So Raven, you have returned to our homeland? Even though you let me free long ago, I will show you no mercy. For I am Thon The Black Bear." Turning to house he had taken for himself, he'd lumber to it. For if battle was to happen, he was to rest up. Inside the house was his birth parents and Claira's parents in make shift cages made of heavy lumber. Walking in, the old parents of both families flinched a bit. The General looked at Claira's mother and father. "It would seem that we might have a visitor tomorrow." The mother stood up. "Is our beloved son Jason coming home?" Laughing out loud, Thon then replied. "No, I exiled him from the village. I exiled all the younger generation after we you're first born were taking from Dagerheir. The same children you didn't stand up to protect. You all deserve to lay in your cage like we had to for many years. No, Jason isn't coming back. He'd be Stupid enough to do such a thing. A weakling like himself doesn't deserve to be called a knight. If he shows up, I'll kill him right in front of you." Claira's father held his wife and said. "Then who is it?" Thon simply said to him before laying down on a big bed. "You will just have to see Old man." All four of them looked at each other and wondered who it was that approaches.

Calling back his Horse Orcleous tied the beast up under the tree. Claira seemed dead set on taking watch duty. Orcleous however wanted to take the first night shift, but after the maiden climbed into a tree, well that kind of settled it. The Champion had no choice but to accept. "Fine, fine", spoke Orcleous as he laid back on the tree. The Champion listen to the cry of the wolves as his eyes began to close. "Hey don't let me get eaten", he spoke. "A dead man makes a horrible partner", spoke the champion as he slipped off into sleep.
As Orcleous mind began to dream ideas came to his mind. He could see both his brother and Xeldine riding across the plains searching for them. He could see them running into the madness and fighting with the beast. Xeldine rushed forward in the way she always did. The maiden was fearsome and courageous, but she lacked both the strength and the experience to handle her foes. In his dream he saw the maiden get disarmed by the monster and almost stabbed. Then his brother rushed up like the fool and attempted to block the attack with magic. The spear pierces the black ball and he gets stabbed in the arm. Then the creature pulls back its spear and moves to give the final blow.
"Go to hell", shouted Orcleous as he suddenly awoke from his slumber. Unconsciously the champion drew his longsword and sent out a brilliant flying slash. The light cut through the air in the shape of a bird illuminating the dark sky and slamming into a hill in the distance. The scream of a deer could be heard as it accidentally crossed paths with Orcleous attack. The soul of the animal was set to flame, but the deer was lucky. Its sins where minimum at best. The creature got away with a few scars.
"Oh crap", spoke Orcleous. He was happy that Claira was not next to him at the moment. Even when he was not there Agis was still being annoying, both him and Xeldine. Even when they are not around he was protecting them. Leaning back onto the tree Orcleous gave off a long sigh. "Claira you alright", he spoke. The Champion had no idea of how long he was asleep or what was going on. Bad dreams made everything worse. However Orcleous thought this was more of a premonition than a bad dream. He felt those two idiots where probably getting themselves in trouble somewhere.

Claira heard Orcleous referred himself as a partner. Nodding, she would give him the thumbs up. Time went by fast since there wasn't much action going on. About four hours had gone by when she heard Orcleous yell out, "Go to hell!" Quickly getting up and almost falling, the thief was about to make a fast descent when all of a sudden a bright illuminated the area and sky. Going temporarily blind from his attack, she felt something go past her. "What the hell was that?!?" Claira yelled, but then heard a deer scream from the hill to the right of her. Her vision slowly came back to her. Once it was fully back, she made her way down the tree. When her feet hit the ground, she went running to him. He asked her if she was fine. Raising a brow, she sat down in front of him. Claira was a bit confused now. In her head she began to think, "Did he do all that? Is it because of the new sword he had gotten back at his village?" Nodding her head again, she would ask him. "Orc.What's going on? And how did you light up the whole area like that? I almost fell out of that tree." Crawling over to him, she would lean up against him thinking still. "You can talk to me about what's going on. I'm not mad or anything. Is it because you worry about Xeldine and your brother Agis? or is it something else you fear love?"
Deciding not to climb back up in fear of falling out of the tree next time Orcleous woke up from a nightmare and doing his holy attack. The Thief stayed next to him. Her arms wrapped around herself. Claira wasn't going to be able to sleep now after what had just went on while she was up in the tree.Picking the jerky up off the ground, she took a few nibbls off it, looking around as she stayed beside the Champion. That's when she heard an unfamiliar voice coming from the road. "The holy glow came from this way. If only I can fine the user, maybe he or she could help me take back my village. Hello?" Slowly getting up, she went to the location of the voice, using the trees as cover. Outside the tree line stood a heavy armored knight. "Looks like the knight is a bit spooked." She thought to herself. Her eyes widened when she saw him start to move to the tree's. Calling out, she said. "Who goes there?" The man stopped and said. "Jason Heart of village Dagerheir. Who are you?" Hearing the last name and her village name, she was in shock. "I'm...Claira....Heart." The knight growled and prepared for battle as he yelled. "How do you mock me with my dead Sister's name! You shall die for that!" Claira slowly backed away from Jason in fear. The first time in meeting her younger sibling and now he was going to try to kill her.
"Jason, I am your older sister! Mom and Dad have a massive horse named Mithrail. Mom's bow is called Star Light." Jason growled at her and said. "That's common knowledge! Tell me something only a family would know Slaver!" The Thief tripped over a fallen branch as the knight advanced over here ready to impaled her. "When dad was younger he gotten into a fight with a pirate who gave Dad an X shaped wound on his left thigh. The tale goes that after the pirate attacked, he put an arrow through the left eye of the pirate. Making him to retreat cursing fathers family." The lance stopped inches away from Claira's chest cavity. Sighing briefly, Claira looked up at the knight. Jason slowly pulled back his lance looking down. "Now Jason...do us both a favor and drop the lance. My lover doesn't like it when a person has a weapon pointed at me...Orcleous....put your weapon...away."
