Throwing this up because I feel like getting to 2000 gold milestone by posting alone takes a little longer than most would like. Of course, I also understand that this is likely balancing in terms of weapons and whatnot, so I'm happy to hear any counter arguments.
1) Have semi-frequent "mini-events" which would involve small gold payouts. I'm basically thinking have a mini-event every four to six weeks which pays out a few hundred gold (maybe about 160/8 posts' worth?) for participants on top of posting gold earned during the event. I think this could also reward active* members while also encouraging people to check back with the site regularly to find out about new events. I realise that there are flaws with this idea, such as the danger of excluding people who simply can't access the site often or having to keep coming up with new scenarios, but I think with some refining, this would be worthwhile and fun.
*By active I mean people who are on the site a lot, not necessarily posting loads. I'm not trying to encourage quantity over quality here.
2) Allowing victors of PvP to take a fixed amount/percentage of their opponent's gold, or all of it if said opponent dies. I mean, it's not like they'll be using it. This would also make combat to the death more appealing as a high risk, high reward endeavour.
3) Introduce the ability to sell weapons back to the shop at half their original price, not including skills or effect weapons? Dunno about this one.
So yeah. That's all I got right now.

1) The past couple of larger events we had, which are a shoe in for extra little goodies such as cosmetic items people may have not thought of as possible as well as fame/infamy have been a long drawn out process. I feel having mini ones won't change that much, as well as leads to my next bullet point.
2) Whenever the sr staff creates/edit current rules we typically have one person make the suggestion. Then the other(s) would post how well they like it as well as how it could be abused. We do not expect anybody to actively search for exploits and abuse them on purpose but we had noticed a tend when it came to the old loot system where you'd post a topic and we'd review it. It quickly was filled with "I killed 3 bandits, loot please."
Now, rewarding the victor of a PvP battle would create a situation where somebody can take advantage of it. PC death occurs when the player feels like it's the character's time, there are very rare times where the staff will step in and declare a character dead without the player expecting it. With that being said, two players could talk about how to set up a fixed match just to pass along the gold. That isn't fair to those who post to gain their gold.
3) Most weapons have a 50% buy back rate, and skills are nonrefundable.

I thought as much, though I didn't realise selling weapons was already a thing. Still, it would be nice for newbies to bolster their income rate by just a little bit (5-10 gold maybe). I find that the limitations are pretty frustrating at times when activity on the site is lower than normal.

I'm going to be brutally honest now. That screen shot combined with this thread is coming off as a cash grab, so you can get your gold without actually having to be active to receive it. When we revised the gold gained per post amount we took character progression as well as prices into account. I understand that you can't be as active as you'd like, but I'm not going to change any system because of that. Instead I'm going this topic to make a suggestion to you. Don't just ask who wants to do a thread together, come up with an idea then pitch it to the others in the Cbox or you can hit a bigger pool if you use the 'looking for group' board, that way people could attempt to work with you by seeing what characters they have and if said thread would be appealing to their character.
