They were planning something since Matthias died, maybe even before.

He's more important then a regular NPC's but he not a character, who have to build up their stats. That what i'm saying Katara, what account it is is pretty irrelevant.

Or before he made the switch we started to create a character death rule, come back near the same level but you would take some EX lose. But since we did tech do it before the new rule we were working on he took a larger verson of this draw back.

So, this goes for everyone? (Kill your own char and get a new one with almost just as much experience?)

No. Notice that he is still level 1. Plus, he's already prepromoted.
Besides, he lost all his money, and only the experience he gained as Marzius counts.

plus, he's a (seemingly) important character to your party's storyline, who is now leaderless.

I'm cool with it, though it doubt I'll use it. Even without 2 1/2 levels my new characters level would be higher then anyone else (old rules leveling up=overpowered). I think I'm going to criple Alan in the next battle.

You know you don't keep the same stats for the new character... It all will go down to 0 then go up according to the class you change to. That's how I think it is, not sure how Matis has it planned.
