The sun rose slowly, the dim rays hitting kazuki's eyelids. They fluttered open as he looked down from his perch in the tree he slept in that night. "Come down here kazuki" an old tired voice cried out to him, "y-yes master" Kazuki stumbled. He leapt down from his branch only 10 feet off the ground. He landed with a thud as his legs absorbed the shock of the fall. "How you can sleep like that I'll never know, but that's not important come along we've left the guards waiting long enough." Kazuki nodded and followed as his master towards where the guards slept that night.
"Well look who decided to finally wake up!" Shouted one of the guards Kazuki and his master were traveling with. "Calm yourself, he's still a child no need to get on his case for sleeping." Scolded his companion, "good morning, I hope you slept well we have a long day of walking ahead of us" "I understand said Kazuki quietly "hey, we finally got something out of him." Cheered the first soldier "seems he's really warming up to us eh Brock?" "Maybe he doesn't talk because he knows your loud mouth will warn everyone around us, Joshua." Replied Brock coldly "that's enough." Command the elder " both of you, now come along we must deliver this to a close friend of mine on the other side of the plains." He held up a long sturdy package wrapped in a pale cloth. "Oooooo looks neat!" Joshua said in awe "please take this seriously." Groaned Brock. The soldiers packed up their tent and slung their equipment over their shoulders. "Good now let us begin" proclaimed the elder.
The sun hung over the heads of the small group of travellers. The 2 soldiers walked with vigor and strength as if they had just began. The Elder hung behind them but still walked strong, while Kazuki lagged behind looking as if he was about to die from exhaustion. “We should stop soon for a lunch break.” said the elder “he's right i'm starving.” replied Joshua “now does seem like a most optimal time to stop for a break. How about over by that flower bed over there.” said Brock pointing to their right not too far off at a flower field filled with beautiful flowers and a few medium sized trees. “That looks perfect to rest my old bones.” said the Elder “i take it you'll be fine with it too Kazuki?”the Elder glanced back over his shoulder and gave him a quick wink, all Kazuki could do was offer a wry smile.
Once they reached the meadow they set down all their gear. Kazuki was soon under a tree’s shade, trying to catch his breath. “Yeesh kid we didn't walk that far.” teased Joshua. Kazuki scowled but no one could tell since his mask covered all his emotions. “Calm yourselves.” proclaimed the elder “how far are we from the next village Brock?” “i will check.” Brock answered. He reached into his pack and pulled out a large rolled up paper. He unrolled it and laid it on the ground to reveal a large map of the Sacae plains. “We started here.” He explained while pointing at a small rectangle on the map “and now we're here,” he explained while dragging his finger across the map “it looks like we aren't that far from that town there, are we?” Asked Joshua placing his finger prominently on another small rectangle “seems that way, we should be able to get there by night.” Proclaimed the elder. “Yes it does seem that way.” Repeated Brock.
