She gave him something to think on, in that moment. Erim had said something that Remus didn't think much on previously. Perhaps it was a natural curiosity, that spurred him on. Yet, in that moment he also felt a twinge inside his mind. His fingers clutched to the staff as they were, and his eyes averted did not notice the faint flush of magic swirling around the center jewel of Thyrus. As if something stirred at the conversation. A familiarity came to him that was entirely foreign, almost as if words alien to his thought and lips left his breath. "Surely nothing good, could come of those bound to the void." Spoken, with a strange confidence. One seldom of the priests more timid or upbeat demeanor. He blinked, and very slightly shook his head as if scattering a troublesome thought before looking at himself and then back to Miss Erim. Hm? Why would he word his statement like that? Remus paused, before trying to re-iterate his thoughts. "Ah..That isn't what I mean to say, sorry. I guess what I would ask is..you talk about the Nether, as if it's something greater. At this point..I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case but...as we've ever known it, elder magic has been associated with things that are normally Negative to human culture. Emotional instability, insanity, violence, but you talk about it as if it could be wielded with comfort or normality. Is that..possible? I...know this would be fairly normal given our history but...is this another misgiving of humanity, and like Dragons we also mislabel The Nether?"
Of-course, Remus did try to acknowledge that most humans wouldn't indulge in that notion. Most wouldn't look at the void, and the dark corruptive magics there in with any type of benefit. Any sense of gainful insight to be found, or anything of the like. Hadn't this entire trip been a demonstration against that tradition though? The priest let Thyrus fall to his side, the stirring magicks of the staff quieting after his little outburst before the priest chimed in to try and add context to his thought. He also knew this subject was likely deeper than he understood, but he knew of examples that they'd already discussed that proved there was more depth to it. As if thinking back alone partially answered his question. "I know, as you said previously, Miss Erim it's..more complicated than just attributing it all to a mistake on Humanities part, so I shouldn't try to shoulder the entire blame on my kind. I also know that if I've learned anything, conversing with you, things are much more than they seem. So I may need to broaden my understanding, but I believe if I start with what we have gotten wrong I could better embrace what is accurate. I know my people and their belief for example, are that only holy magic or magic preciously wielded by Saint Elimine is acceptable. If I understand you correctly though, there were others capable of thinking, feeling, rationalizing that could harness powers most humans consider taboo. I confess, as we are I don't believe many would believe this or accept it should proof stand before them...but if it's true I'd very much hope that too could be changed some day."
