Dawson nodded when Lunie and Lauren confirmed that they were going to search for the lost girl. "Of course, we will do everything in our power to ensure that she comes back" Dawson says. This could be his chance to prove to himself that he was NOT the man that Draco tried to make him to be. He aided in the kidnapping of so many children in the past, each time brought more and more guilt to him. Though he feels like it'd take much more than this, it'd be something to start off with. Dawson gave a quick glare in the old mans direction. Sure, he's likely still feeling grief from losing his son to this place years ago, but it's still inexcusable from allowing anyone to go and search for the womans daughter! He gripped his hands into a fist when he glared at the old man, using every bit of his own self restraint to prevent himself from launching a dark bolt of energy at the old man. "Why...why would he prevent us from wanting to go search there? He can't stop all of us from looking after all, right?" Dawson asked.
"Though a "haunted picnic" could sound like a interesting idea, our main priority should be to find the womans daughter and her friends that are lost there" Dawson replied when Kayla mentioned what else they'd do. Yet, upon that note, she did bring up a good point. A strange thing IS indeed happening in a strange place. Though he dosen't know how much help his dark magic would be if there were monsters there, he'd still be able to do something. Of course, if it was just brigands pulling a cruel prank on the town, then that'd also be something to think about.

Selunae was quick to abandon the Chaklai woman once Lauren took over. It was for the best. This seemed to be Lauren’s element, whereas Selunae could scarcely grant the simplest reassurance. Kayla seemed to only being paying as much attention as needed to discover the location adventure was to take the group, the archer giggling to herself at the Ilian’s casual indifference to detail. Was it really okay though? All she had heard about this place was that it’s supposed to be haunted and that people disappear there. Selunae itched for an adventure, sure, but her eagerness teetered on a seesaw balancing between the anxiety and excitement. Kayla was right though. If they were going to leave, sooner was certainly better.
To hear Kayla speak, she seemed briefly concerned about danger but the mood quickly shifted with the mention of picnic supplies. It was hard to remain worried with the more upbeat concerns of haunted picnics and ensuring there would be food and drink. It certainly sounded much more fun than spooky. That was fine for Selunae. A nice outing to some silly forest. Haunted? Psh.. Probably just some stupid bandits, and she’d handled bandits before. At least she wasn’t going alone. That was probably all it was. Trounce a few thugs and celebrate with a fun little picnic. Who knows, maybe there really would be some kind of treasure.
“Haunted picnic sounds awesome! I can’t wait!” The archer already sounded entirely too enthusiastic for what wasn’t a happy situation. The villager Lauren was talking to stopped mid-sentence to stare in dismay at the redhead. At least the young man that had joined them seemed to show legitimate concern and decency.
“Oh, right. Yeah. We have ta find all those missing people too.” Selunae thoughtfully tapped her chin and suddenly had an idea. “We oughtta bring extra for all the people we’re gonna save!”
On that thought, Selunae energetically bounced along, calling out to the others as she did so. “I’ma get my stuff!” She didn’t make it very far before noticing the nearby pegasus, though. “Wow,” she gasped in a soft voice, “You.. have wings.. Wait ‘til Seren sees this, she’s gonna be so jealous..” Selunae almost forgot what she was doing, staring in wonder at the winged horse. It wasn’t the first time she’d seen one, but she’d never been remotely near one before. It was but a brief hiccough in the archer’s stride, though, and she was soon traipsing along once more to return to the ranch.

Lauren took a deep breath, held it in, and remained with her cool collected composure. It was one thing to have a childlike wonder and innocence, it was another entirely to ignore or forget about the direness of a situation and brush aside the facts of a missing person who's been left to a fate that she could only guess at. As Kayla and Lunie fell into this together she was rather appreciative of the shaman... Please don't let Interminor hear her thoughts on that one!
"As you say." Lauren agreed with Dawson. "It is a good idea for us to bring a lunch. I suspect such an investigation could prove lengthy, and a survivor may be suffering malnutrition. But please, do try and respect the gravi-" and off she skipped calling after the others to follow. "- ... ... ... Give me strength."
Lauren folded her arms behind herself and slowly followed along. One does not always get to choose their companions and when the time comes she may need to trust her very life to them, so she would not speak ill of them, but her expressions did little to harbor the concerns she was feeling as they mounted more and more. At least they took this in stride rather than being petulant.
"If I may make a suggestion, a torch and antidotes may prove a prudent purchase. Going into the unknown without either is a death sentence. If we do not need them, all the better, it was an investment for later." Lauren then looked over at Kayla. "May I see that map? I will return it." She wanted to copy the map into her notebook so she could have her own and well, she didn't trust Kayla not to lose or tear it just yet. Her own suggestions aside however she was ready.
As for the pegasus, this was far more interesting. If there was anything she wanted to contribute to Etruria most it was an air corps. She had many ideas of what to do with a flying steed. "Kayla, when we begin to close in on this grove I believe you should scout overhead to see what we may find waiting within."

Kayla laughed at how well the haunted picnic idea went over. Maybe she shouldn’t have said anything in the first place because now she was going to have to get supplies. That wasn’t the first time her jokes had gotten her into trouble. Lunie exited to grab her supplies, Kayla did the same. She made a few provisional purchases from nearby stores before proceeding to the stables.
By the time Kayla reached the stalls, Lauren was examining her steed and requesting the map. Kayla handed it over without a word. She knew the general position of where they were headed and that was good enough for her. The rider then approached her steed, who seemed to be a little concerned with the sudden interest people had taken. Luckily, the nearby folk were women, many pegasi were uncomfortable around men. Kayla slowly placed her palm on the pegasus’ snout and brushed it in an attempt to keep the winged horse calm. Once Kayla felt the tenser muscles relax she spoke.
“Polly, meet Armatae. She’s going to be adventuring with us. Also this real fun red haired girl, Lunie. Oh and a boy, Dawson.” The Pegasus stomped a hoof and whinnied. “I know, I know, but he seems nice enough, we’ll just have to keep our distance to start with.”
Lauren eventually suggested that she and Polly scout out the area from the air. Kayla squinted her eyes and tilted her head. To her, that suggestion sounded dangerously close to an order. “Uhh yeah. That’s kinda what I do. I think I know what’s best, being able to fly and all.” She hoped her snarky remarks made it clear that she was going to be making her own decisions on their venture.
Kayla relaxed her face and demeanor and gracefully hopped into Polly’s saddle. “So, we ready to move?”

Dawson of course was still unsure what this grove held. Maybe it was just bandits or monsters that are in the area. Or if his suspicious are found true, it could be a secret someone wants to keep a secret. "Of course, I'm ready to go when everyone else is. And also, I have some spare coinage if we need more for supplies" Dawson added in. It was a shame that the funds won't make it back to the resistance in Illia, but his main goal is to hide from Draco.
Ah yes, the pegasus. He could tell the winged horse was clearly nervous at least of him, which was common. Most, if not, all pegasus prefer woman and are generally distrustful of men. Though he suspect that it'll take time for the winged beast to get comfortable around him. "So, in the interest of saving time, we'll need to formulate a plan of how we'll search for the missing people. As suggested earlier, Kayla could scout ahead to see what might be in the remote area. Once we've concluded who...or what...is in the area, depending on the situation on hand, we might want to split apart so we can cover more ground" he says. Of course though, this plan would go out the window if there indeed was someone...or something that was in the area.
Hopefully this time, none of Dracos minions would show up to ruin things for him. They already caused problems with him and if they were to show up when they found the girl... ..no.. He isn't going to think of what'll happen. He almost made the fatal mistake of almost getting Lunie killed, he wasn't going to make the same mistake again.

Selunae had taken her own sweet time after skipping off on her merry way to the ranch. Of course, her return spoke plenty before a single word was spoken. The archer returned atop Seren, her more shady than trusty horse, but leading a pair of extra horses as well. Reluctantly the chocolate mare was also pulling a small cart of supplies. As it turned out, Lady Azi had insisted on generously donating plenty of rations for the trip, quite possibly even too much. There was easily more than enough for a haunted picnic. Also, as the Skai had explained, the cart would come in handy to transport any of the missing people they might come across back to the village. Selunae hadn’t even considered that. With the final preparations made, the group found themselves traveling north.
“...and she left for the Tournament of Arms in Bern after that, and that’s last time I saw her.” Selunae explained, wistfully recalling her adventures with Kyra. “She was talking ‘bout some kinda weird voice she was hearin’ or might’ve been some kinda dream she had. Not sure, but it was kinda scary, ya know? That still don’t mean I believe in ghosts or nothin’. Right?”
Selunae had gone on and on about Kyra ever since leaving the village and she hadn’t really given anyone else much of a chance to talk yet. Among the bits about Kyra and herself, she had prattled on a bit about her home in Riverside on the outskirts of Lucerne as well. Whether or not that was boring or even irritating, she hadn’t paid attention to. It wasn’t that she was trying to be rude. It was more that she was nervous around new people and it caused her to babble on longer than any typical stranger would care to listen.
It was a pleasant day for travel, mostly clear skies with tiny scatterings of clouds dotting throughout the endless blue. It was warm but not hot, and a gentle breeze stirred and made the tall grass of the plains appear to wave slowly at the travelers. It astounded Selunae how open the landscape was out here compared to home. It wasn’t difficult to take in the surroundings – though she had provided horses for Lauren and Dawson, the traveling speed hadn’t dramatically increased with Seren hauling a cart.
“Look at that Seren, all the grass you could ever want..” The mare snorted in annoyance at her rider’s statement, still unhappy with the cart. ”So umm.. Where’re all you from?” Selunae, changing the subject on a whim, turned her head to the side without looking at anyone in particular. Her pensive mind recalled that she still wasn’t entirely familiar with Dawson yet either. “Prolly should get to know each other a bit more since we gotta travel all this way together ‘n all.”
