Overview
First hit by Bern and among the least able to defend themselves, long considered one of the less stable territories, fourth among the three major ore and mineral producing territories, and always suffering from some bandit problem or another; Khathelet has drawn the short end of the stick too many times to count. Nonetheless it has always persevered despite being the butt of many jokes.
The aid offered by Araphen in recent years has helped Khathelet turn their luck around to a degree, though; where their neighbors suffered, the stability offered by a powerful benefactor allowed Khathelet to stop the bleeding and focus entirely on an economic recovery rather than wasting a great deal of time on military and border concerns. Adding the significant unrest in many of their neighbors and the possibility for selling arms and aid that has arisen as a result, and the seemingly cursed territory has finally had a spree of good luck; while nowhere near the mighty Badon, Khathelet is to some degree becoming an economic powerhouse in the region, paying back the aid offered by Araphen to both its benefactor and neighbors.
Modern Khathelet is far different from the irrelevant side note it spent most of its life in the Lycian League as; a sense of energy pervades the territory, its towns and cities alive with trade and bustle, new architecture replacing the old, and new money making a generation of merchants richer than they had ever dreamed of before. Time will tell if this newfound luck sticks with them or is only the precursor to the worst fall yet.
Military
Not nearly large enough to pose a threat to anybody, Khathelet's minor military was basically obliterated completely by Bern and never recovered. What minor forces they do have are generally well trained and disciplined thanks to joint exercises with Araphen, a mix of infantry and light cavalry.
Due to their growing wealth and proximity to the hellhole that has become Caelin, Khathelet has a serious bandit problem that only furthers their dependence on their closest allies, and a minor monster problem that stems primarily from Tuscana. The march is completely incapable of dealing with either on its own and relies on mercenaries as well as Araphen/Tanian strike forces to handle them, but both tend to be delayed responses.

Relationships
- Araphen: given that they exist basically out of Araphen's goodwill, Khathelet is generally very fond of their 'big brother' march and has an extremely positive relationship with them, allowing the Araphen military free movement within their borders and happily selling the majority of their arms and ores to the larger march. Despite their ties to Araphen, they have not adopted Araphen's somewhat militaristic bent for obvious reasons.
- Tania: similar to Araphen on a smaller scale. Tania aids Khathelet in staying alive and offers plenty of training opportunities for Tania's fledgeling air force in particular, and in return Khathelet helps feed the more mountainous Tania. This is perhaps Khathelet's most equal relationship and despite a sense of good-natured competition in arms working, the two marches get along famously.
- Laus: Poor. Very, VERY poor. Laus being the Soviet Union to Araphen's United States means that Khathelet's very existence is anathema to Laus's border security - and Kgathelet's citizens fear a direct attack from Laus in turn. Borders are HEAVILY patrolled on both sides, and trade is fairly minor, with frosty but civil relationships.
- Tuscana: they acknowledge each other's existence and little else. Khathelet has its own problems and has little time for the mountain of issues Tuscana faces, but offers some degree of aid to their neighbors out of good will.
