Anyone played this game?
I've already just finished two playthroughs of it already. This is a novel type kind of game and I only recommend playing to those who only like detective&court of law type of games, like Ace Attorney. Well, the Wikipedia article can explain about the game, but it is also filled with some major spoilers. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. Basically you play as a former officer named Kyle Hyde that is now a salesman working at the company called Red Crown. Kyles boss Ed asks Ed to check out Hotel Dusk to sell some products, not knowing that he is searching for his partner, Bradley who has betrayed the police force working at a crime synicate in NY. After Kyle finds him and shoots him as Bradley jumps into the Hudsen River, ever since then, Kyle is searching for his partner, Bradley to find out answers why he betryaed the police force in Mathatten. Unlike Phoenix Wright who is kind of goofy and a joker, Kyle is more of a serious inspector, who doesn't really hit on any women, is quite an ass sometimes, and is quite insensitive to some people. Better watch out for certain choices that you make, and being on the lookout from time to time. If Dunning catches you and throws you out of the hotel for whatever it is that your doing, like going into his office for instence. Or if Kyle retreats to his room, because he upset a citezen, it's game over for you! Also, the characters and the graphical enviroment are all drawn in pencil!!!!! This game takes place in 1979.
Recommended to play? Yes. Only if you like detective&court of law type games. But unlike games such as FE,FF,Valkyrie Profile,Zelda which have everlasting replay values, honestly this is a game that you will only want to play twice in your lifetime. Playing the starred game, second playthrough you can do these features that aren't availible in the first playthrough and here they are...
-Getting the Lipstick instead of the Pinkie Rabbit doll as the special prize from the vending machine.
-Decoding Louie's tape, who is exactly like Larry in the Phoenix Wright games, only cooler and smarter, love the afro of his.
-Can unlock two different ending scenes which aren't availible in the first playthrough.
Okay, you start by investigating the hotel learning about answers behind the lies, betrayal, and murder. Even though that this game is rated "T" for "Teen", this game doess involve a bar and some alchohol. Getting the change from the vending machine, you only get one chance to get it, and that is in Chapter 4. The puzzles also requires a bit of thinking. Melissa's puzzle is my most favorite, as it is fun to play with little kids. =) The citizens in this game all have different personalities, as you play through the game, it'll be as if your talking to people in rl. This game is also more realistic than the Ace Attorney games. For those of you who have played this game, post away. This is one of the best DS games that I have ever played, and loved it. But this game is not for everybody. For those who are the impatient, not liking detective games, short attention span, may not enjoy this game. No this is not an action type game. This game is only enjoyable to those who enjoy reading, as this is a novel type game.
By the way, this game is made by Nintendo, too. =)
