"Sure, that sounds like a good idea," Katara said, still flipping the eggs. She woke up Ryan and Kyo to give them some food. After she handed Kenshin some, she took the last of the eggs fpr herself. "I put some pepper in it- I found a whole cuboard full of spices on the ship, so I took some," she added, "I always did like to cook."

"Well that might come in handy some day." Kenshin winked at Katara. "So what all spices did you take?"

Katara blushed, "oh, just the normal stuff; salt pepper, cinnamin, paprika, and a few others," she said. She kicked sand onto the fire and packed the pan back in her bag after she finished her eggs. "I'm ready when you are," she said.

Not wanting to get up becuase his legs were still sore, Kenshin forced himself up and put his bag on his back. Kenshin started to walk. "Hurry up, we might be close to the border but it's still going to be hot."
"I was wanting to avoid Sasuke(OoC:Before you think I stole this name from Naruto I didn't. In YuGiOh there is a monster called Sasuke Samurai, swordmasters are like Samurai's so I'm useing it from there not Naruto) untill I had to go to his village. I think I'm just going to wait to go there for last."

"Ok," Katara said. She walked fast with the anticipation of green scenery instead of yellow sand. When she was a good deal ahead of the rest, she whipped out her journal and stated writing furiously.
We're finally getting out of the desert! I can't wait to see running water! I've really gotten back into cooking. I guess it's a skill I need if I want a future. Can't fight off bandits with poor nutrition! Once we get into a village, I'm hitting the food stands and making the guys a soup they won't believe! I'll need some carrots, potatoes, and leeks, of course. Maybe even some celery and peas... maybe not peas, I'm not too fond of them. But as meat goes... I wonder what They'll like better, beef or chicken... or maybe even some freshwater fish! Man, the guys are all gonna love me after I make this! Not like thats why I'm making it... No, it's to recover from our hard journey through the desert. Yah. Thats it. Oh, they're catching up... gotta go!
She shoved the journal back in her bag as the rest of the group got closer.

Kenshin seen Katara shove something into her bag. "What was that?" He started to walk the same pace as her so he could walk next to her to talk.

"Nothing really, just want somebody to talk to. To help pass the time, everybody else don't seem like they want to talk. Are you missing home yet?"

"A little... My sister was about to marry when we left. My father... I wonder how he feels... somtimes I wonder why we left. My father was a great Chieftain. He had us move to a safer area when the bandit trouble started. Everyone was always so warm towards him, Sokka felt like the black sheep of the family, all he wanted to do was to prefect his fighting skills. He and my sister always joked how I'd probably end up following my father as chieftess instead to them. Not beacuse my father treated my specially, but because they always said I showed what was needed. My sister just wanted to settle down, she didn't want to have to take care of a tribe, even though she was the oldest. But, as my tribe went, it was the eldest son. I already said how Sokka was, and some of the tribsmen agreed he wouldn't be the best chieftain," Katara said. "What was your life like before the bandits came?" she asked.

"Well most of the people were not too fond on the idea of fighting. My father was once a great fighter but he was too busy leading the village to train me. So he had his trainer to do that for him, he felt since I was going to take over I would need to know how to weild a sword effencetly so I could protect the village. He started my trianing at a young age, and when I wasn't training he had me studing other things as well. He tought me how to hunt, track people, and alot of other things. When he left to have meeting with other tribes he took me along. When I was growing up the son of another cheiften and myself never got along. We basicly became rivals at everything. He's probly going to use that incident as if it means he's better then me. But I've still got one thing on him, my sword skills has always been better."

"That's a good thing," Katara said. "My brother had always found running things and being in charge boring, He'd rather be an unsung hero,"she added.
AS they talked, the desert gave way to green pastures. Then, a village appeared on the horizon. "We're just about there," Katara mumbled as they got closer.

"He Katara can I ask you something? When we get to town and umm... Well I don't really know what to say... Would you like to uhhh go out to dinner with me later, just the two of us alone?" Kenshin sounded nerves the whole time, he knew what she most likely would say but he didn't know what to say.

"That sounds great, Kenshin," Katara said. She wondered why Kenshin sounded so nervous, she knew that he knew she would say yes. Something bloomed inside of her. Like a flower of happiness. She knew it was just dinner, but she really wanted it to go well. With Kenshin by her side, there was nothing she couldn't handle.

Kenshin smiled at Katara. "To be honest this will be my first date. When I first left my village and started this what seemed like a personal battle I never thought I would find anybody that I care about alot while it was going on. But I'm glad I met you, I found some kind of happiness to keep my spirt up so I don't just give up since the odds are stacked against us." Kenshin just hoped that Katara wouldn't be a distraction to him later on.

Katara smiled and blushed. "Thanks, Kenshin. I just hopw we can find somewhere to go on such short notice," she said. They were just about in the village now. It was quaint, with a few small huts clustered around a small lake and some larger buildings. "I'm guessing those igger buildings are the inns and places to eat," Katara said.
