Aleth twisted her head in alarm as she trudged weakly through the mounds of snow in Ilia. The weather wouldn’t really have been considered a storm since the path ahead was still visible to a decent standard. Yet the snow that pelted down made her body chill all over. If she stayed any longer her body will freeze to death. The only hope for her was the light off in the distance. It was bad enough she got separated from most of the others after that cave incident.
Twisting her head, she examined the area for anyone familiar, but it was just too hard. Her body had already forgotten how cold it was here, this frigid place was a welcoming to death for anyone that entered unprepared. Right after she gets to town, first thing on her list is to get a cape of some sort. Then she could perhaps get a hot drink to melt away this troublesome day. The thought made her mouth water, but she continued to walk on.
Her first step into town wasn’t that welcoming, for all the people were prepared for a storm. After walking past a few streets, her mouth opened almost in complete terror. It was her freaking crazy parents and their band of mercenaries.
(Mind if I post here? Rayl's almost making me... You know, the usual "POST OR I KEEEL YOU!" threats, just for this, instead of the other one)
Yurat walked into the town. Hm... Lost her now... He had been following Aleth, but with good reason. He had, admittedly, walked off, trying to get a little bit closer to Sacae, when he noticed that Aleth was walking off, the rest of the group nowhere in sight. Had it been anyone else, save for Rayl, he would've caught up to them and asked why they were wandering off. With Rayl and Aleth, though, he'd keep behind. He almost lost her numerous times, because of when he first met her... To this day, he was still scared by her, but had recognized her as enough of an ally to realize that the trouble she would no doubt get in would be deadly for one person alone. Besides that he felt he owed something to the group for almost abandoning them for Sacae.
Aleth flinched as one of the guys noticed her and trudged their way in her direction. She could only gape and shiver with fear. Her greatest fear was meeting her parents again and going through training….again….
“Hey look here, its dear old Aleth, and wow, what kind of training is this?” “Are you trying to freeze yourself to death?” the man asked taking out his gigantic sword looking read to fight. All Aleth could do was gape and hope not to get hurt.
“Aleth? It is you? How’s you helping people for free going? You sure must be weak!” her own father’s words stung deep like wound. What came next was a sucker punch straight to her face. It knocked her back a good few steps and she yelped from the recoil.
“Way weak, fearing me earns you 100 pushups…NOW..” Yelping again she did as she was told, keeping her eyes out for help.
A figure in the distance made her holler, “Help!” but that gave her 100 more.
Yurat stopped when he heard two yelps and a cry for help, and regretted it for a moment. MAN IT'S FREEZING! Everytime he had stopped, he thought that. He went towards the cry... And saw Aleth doing push-ups, and a group standing over her. "Um... Am I interupting something?" he asked, teething chattering and shivering from the cold.
At the sign of Yurat, she tried to rush over to him and drag both of them off somewhere else. Actually Sacae people would sell decently in Ilia from what she remembered. Just as she jumped her father grabbed onto her collar.
“Where do you think you’re going young lady?” her father asked in a venomous tone. “No where papa…I won’t do it again!” “Bring that boy over here.” He commanded and pushed Aleth towards Yurat. Doing as she was told, she rushed over to his side and practically begged him to come with her.
“Please you gotta help me; my parent will kill me if you don’t.” “I mean probably literally.” “Please.” She was seriously broken down by fear. Her whole body shivered and she was crying, while freezing to death.
"Um... Sure..." He walked over to the group, which must have had Aleth's parents as part of it, obviously. Parents, threatening their children? Wow... Didn't figure that... I wonder if my parents would hate me... Don't remember much about them though... Anyway, that man must be her father... Instinctively, foolishly, his right hand rested on the hilt of his sword... Worst part is, it was the only part of him that was still, the rest was shivering and chattering.
Yurat gulped and took a step back, taking his hand off of his sword. Instantly, it began to shake from the cold, too. Apparently, he was comforted and somewhat calmed by the sword. He waved his hands in front of him and, teeth chattering from the cold, said, "N-n-n-no need f-f-f-f-for weapons, w-w-w-w-we aren't enemies, n-n-n-now, are we? And... W-w-w-w-what sort of p-p-p-p-parties do you h-h-h-h-have here?" He instantly and silently prayed that they did mean a real party, and not a fight... Like he was guessing they were going to start.
(Sorry, may have messed up w/ the chattering XP Yurat's gonna die here, isn't he? Crap)
“You’re not a very nice person, papa,” Aleth proclaimed, before getting another punch onto her face.
“Well you’re a weak little girl, I’ve raised you better.” He responded, before carrying her towards the tavern. The snow was still freezing her all over; they never did bother to help her until she asked. The comment about her being weak really hurts someone inside, it hurts their self esteem. Just as they came in, an arrow barely grazed her cheek. It was her mother, the-love-to-use-her-as-a-target mother….
“It’s a wonder I’m not messed up, she spoke towards Yurat.
Yurat, utterly shocked, followed after a moment. Amazingly, he also held back a laugh from what Aleth said, most likely out of fear of the situation getting way out of hand. "So... This is everyday life here?" He whispered the question, hoping that the others wouldn't hear. What did I get myself into?
“Yeah, that’s how things were in my childhoooooo-“Aleth was cut off as her dad dropped her down on the ground. She landed on the wooden floor, hard, with a thud. She crawled over, inch by inch towards Yurat. At least she had a shield to use and lighten up her torture in the future. She struggled in her bindings, this was at the very least the fiftieth time they tied her up.
“Hey Aleth, after the storm you could totally help me with my shooting!” “Actually you could help me now, Garethen, put an apple on her head!” her mother exclaimed. Garethen(her dad) did as he was told, and Aleth just laid there still as a statue.
“Yurat if I die, bury me away from here and if I live untie me.” She sputtered out.
Yurat nodded, thinking that dieing could very well be the best outcome if they were there for a while. He didn't dare to so much as even say yes, because he had a gut feeling that they were crazy enough to attack him for saying "Hi" if someone new came in. One thing he didn't get, though, was that it seemed that Aleth was from Ilia; she didn't seem all that surprised, to him, that they were here, but she wanted to be buried away from her home. I don't think I'll ever get this family... Though that's probably normal, considering!
Surprisingly the arrow hit the apple without killing her. It didn’t stop the fact that some of the others had finally noticed her and asked her to be their training buddies. She had to admit, training against the weak is just wrong. Before she could object to anything, she was being pounded on hard by a few fists. Her parents were chatting about a few things, probably what they were going to do with her.
“Hey boy, where you from?” her father asked with a fairly sly smile. “Don’t tell him! He’ll sell you off!” Aleth blurted out before getting pounded by more people.
Yurat visibly relaxed. He had thought of a loophole so that he didn't have to say Sacae. "Lycia." He had intentionally thought of it a bit more literally, and not for what was implied. The man asked where he was from, and he had come from Lycia. The man didn't specifically ask 'Where were you born?' and Yurat answered as such. (WOO LOOPHOLE!)
“Well alright, throw the kids to their rooms, and let the party truly begin!”Aleth’s father declared. Aleth was picked up and dragged upstairs before being thrown into a room. Well it wasn’t so bad, but she was still tied up! That’s why she truly dislikes ropes and the main problem with her parents.
“Well aren’t we lucky, it’s not the storage room and I have someone to keep the company.” “But it’s a shame there is only one bed.”
