Since it seems more and more people are joining with little knowledge of Fire Emblem, I'm going to write a brief summary of all of the Fire Emblem games... that, and I'm bored.
1, 3, 11
Shadow Dragon
Lord: Marth
Difficulty: Medium
The first two FEs came out for the Famicom, then the third was a remake of the first for the Super Famicom. The most recent game is a remake of the first for the DS. They're about Prince Marth's quest for defeating the evil dragons and restoring his kingdom of Altea. There was no weapon triangle until the DS remake, and several character couldn't promote, including Marth. Luckily, that was fixed in 11.
2
Gaiden
Lords: Alm, Celica
Difficulty: Unknown
The only one I haven't played, apparently you could go around the world map and towns and such. It had a promotion tree similar to Sacred Stones. Other than that, it had many things to it that were very different from the rest of the series.
4
Genealogy of the Holy War
Lords: Sigurd, Celice
Difficulty: Hard
A game for Super Famicom that is only ten chapters long (Not counting Prologue and Epilogue). However, each chapter is long and hard, essentially three to four chapters in one. This game is what started the Weapon triangle and skills. In the first five chapters, you play as Sigurd, but in the last five, you play as his son Celice, 17 years later. Which characters you had support the females determines how good some characters in the second half are. There's also 12 Holy weapons that some characters can use depending on their bloodline.
5
Thracia 776
Lord: Leaf
Difficulty: Insanely Hard, like Mindblowingly hard
Also for Super Famicom, it takes place during the timeskip in 4. It was the first game with the rescue command. I am not kidding when I say this game is hard. After chapter 7, your characters have a fatigue bar, which increases every enemy they fight. When it is full, that character can not participate in the next battle. There are a couple chapters that are unbeatable in certain circumsances. Leaf is not a good fighter, but he doesn't have a fatigue bar. When inside castles, horsemen must dismount, making them unable to use lances. You can also Capture enemies and take their equipment away. It is known to have an interesting AI, if you steal an enemies weapon, they'll go all the way to an armory and buy a new one. One more thing, you start with no money, and the only way to gain money is through the arena.
6,7
Binding Blade, Blazing Sword
Lords: Roy, Eliwood, Lyn, Hector
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
These are the games Way of the Warrior is based off of. They were both for GBA, 7 being the first one in America (Just called Fire Emblem). 7 is in fact, 6's Prequel. In 7, Eliwood tries to find his missing father and gets caught in a battle against the evil Nergal who is trying to bring Dragons into the world. Eliwood is able to defeat Nergal with the help of Athos, and the world is peaceful. Until 6, when Bern decides to attack Lycia and kill Hector and his army. Roy, Eliwood's son, flees from Lycia, slowly gathering an army with the help of Etruria, Ilia, and Sacae. And then there's something about Manaketes, but I don't quite remember everything.
8
Sacred Stones
Lords: Eirika, Ephraim
Difficulty: Super Easy
For GBA, the only game to have trainee units, and only second to use a promotion tree. I'm not really sure what else to say about it.
9, 10
Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn
Lords: Ike, Micaiah
Difficulty: Easy-Medium
For Gamecube and Wii. The first games in 3-d, and 10 is the only game to include a third promotion. The games also have Bonus Exp, allowing you to level up your characters outside of battle. These are the games where it's better to just play it, as the plot is kinda confusing.
Well, I hope this makes it a bit clearer for everyone, or maybe I just made it more confusing, oh well.
