Guess what... Game Freak is remaking Pokemon Silver and Gold!!!!!!! I think they're calling them Heart Gold and Soul Silver. I saw a clip, and it looks like they put in the thing from yellow where your pokemon follows you all the time. It looks like they improved the 3-d-ness too. Serebii.net has a video, i think.

Known for some time, but thought one of you had posted something like this already. Guess I was wrong.
Still, not too interested in Pokemon anymore. Haven't been since the original Gold and Silver. After getting 250/251 Pokemon in Gold, I vowed NEVER to play one of the normal Pokemon games again.

Sorry to hear that, Matis. I still love Pokemon, and I'll be very happy to get this remake. I may have to wait a long time after it comes out, but I have little doubt that I will get it.

It's not that I hate Pokemon. But it's too damn time consuming. More so than the average RPG.

Maybe, but I think it's fun all the way. At least it's not always pathetically easy, like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (not that I disliked the game), and I've seen even longer. Try Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time. That game is so long it takes 2 discs.

Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope. 3 or 4 X BOX 360 disk game. How many 360 or ps3 games go past one disk?

Wait, what? Star Ocean 4 takes 3-4 full DVDs?
I've been playing The Last Remnant, lately, which takes two X360 discs, so...

Plus, now that I'm old enough to actually start thinking about it, can you imagine the technology it takes for the Pokemon games? You've got to have a built in calculator to judge whether a move hits or misses, what Pokemon you see, when you get a critical hit, whether you catch a Pokemon or not, how much damage is done, the Pearl, Platinum and Diamond have calculator options plus a billion other things, you need the motions of different Pokemon and people, there's the insane amount of music, something to register what type of field you're on, the weather, plus a billion other things. It takes a lot of work to calculate and react to all of that.

Games have been doing that and far, FAR more since the NES, really. Ever played a game of the Dynasty Warriors franchise? There you have literally a thousand of characters with their locations and actions being pinpointed 60 times per second. Sure, only what's on the screen actually gets rendered, but the machine still has to take into account all the things that are not on the screen.

Ooooh, Dynasty Warriors! It was so much fun to storm in with your bodyguards and to kill everything that moved.

But it takes at least two full disk and some of the third(not sure how long it is wasn't there for somebody to play it)
