Name: Elias Root (actually Kutald)
Class: Mage
Hair Color: Auburn
Eye Color: Green
Age: 19 (Currently 23)
Appearance: One day, there will be stories that go in great detail just to make sure they have the exact shade of red for his hair! But... until then he is merely a man with bedhead-like dark red that pokes out a bit, and seriously needs a comb ran through it. A somewhat short young man whom stands at about 5'6", with a small and unfit stature that compliments it nicely in making him look frail. Slightly tanned skin from birth, not from a healthy tan that would require him to be outside all the time. His light green eyes stand out a bit in comparison to the rest of him, most likely because they simply aren't red. (Though he wishes they were, also green is gross)
In the four years since he started his journey, Elias hasn't changed much in looks. His face has gotten a bit more mature, and he's grown about an inch and a half becoming a whopping 5'7" (he rounds to 5'8"). He's started to have to shave more then once a month, which drives him crazy. Still maybe it's a good thing, if he wants to be an archmage he would definitely need a beard. Wouldn't work otherwise. His hair is still wild and unruly, and no amount of effort will ever tame it. Those who try are lost, never to be seen again.
A life on the road and in constant combat has made him hardy and strong. While his days of swinging an axe as large as a small child are far away, he's fitter then the average person, and definitely healthier then he had been when he started. His father always drilled the fact that a strong mind needs a strong body, and a strong soul. To have one without the others is to be incomplete, and an incomplete person could only be a poor mage. The guy was a hack, but Elias has still wound up embracing this ideology. Old habits die hard after all.
Clothes: He wears the standard mages garb, however they are unique in that they are all dark red. Even more so then the usual pair appears to be. Dark red robes with light red adornment, red shoes and a red cape.
His outfit has changed many times since the start of his journey. From fancy threads of red and gold, to subdued Sacaen tribal wear. His main colors are red and white, and seems to base any outfit he wears around a combination of the two. His standard robes are a bright red hue around the collars and body, but carries a white cloak around his shoulders in a small cape sort of design. It reaches to his waist then tapers into coattails in the back, and underneath his robe is a pair of white horse-riding pants. Those reach down to his boots which are as red as the rest of his clothing. Meanwhile on his hands are a pair of white silken gloves that never seem to get dirty no matter what he does with them. Mage's secret. The most iconic bit, and that part that's almost more famous then he is, is his hat. A red plumed hat with a white feather sticking out. Even people who hate Elias and spit on everything he stands for, people who think the color red is garish and that he dresses like an infant, they cannot help but admit that hat is pretty stylish.
He also takes to wearing cloaks instead of his robes from time to time, for many reasons really. Mostly when he's going out into the wilderness and feels no need to get himself all fancied up, or will be participating in particularly messy work and want to keep his clothing clean.
Born in: Lycia
Story: Elias, the cheerful magician from Lycia, has a life that starts marred with tragedy. His mother who bore him to a bastard father died shortly after he was brought into the world. The woman was malnourished, sickly, and was in no shape to be giving birth. She was a poor woman, who had no home and lived on the streets. Her pregnancy being a complete accident. The fact Elias was born without complications or serious medical issues is basically a miracle in and of itself. His mother wasn't quite so lucky, as the strain put her out of the picture permanently. The boy had no known family, and was put into an orphanage shortly thereafter.
However, this isn't a typical sad story in which the boy grows up all depressed and angsty because he was never adopted, etc. No, just the opposite actually. He was scooped up from the orphanage quite quickly, and taken in under a couple who were unable to have a child of their own.
The father of this particular family also happened to be a retired druid from the army, forced out of action due to a near fatal leg wound. Even with staves and magic, he was unable to correctly walk from that day on, and was unfit to fight anymore despite his protests. His father began to pass the knowledge of Anima magic down to his son, and Elias picked up on it quickly.
He's left his home, his family, and his friends to go pursue dreams of not only him but of his adoptive father. He wants his son to go live out his dream and make a name for his self in the world, and Elias is eager to agree.
After leaving home Elias travelled to Sacae as a messenger where he met Richter and participated in the battle of Salvation Point. He was in the church as it burned, and since has always been leery of entering churches. He wasn't a fan of them to begin with, so double leery. After the battle he traveled to Bern where he fought in the rebellion for a short stint. For or against, he doesn't really remember, he just fought because he thought it was fun. The enemies were enemies were just enemies anyways, if they were against Elias they had to be bad guys. He recieved a mission from the commander to head to Ilia and deliver a message, where he encountered a vicious battle against bandits. He offered his assistance to commander Marle, whom he affectionately nicknamed Iron Maiden, and using his fire tome he destroyed the weakened support beams of a building causing it to collapse and barely escaped. He then delivered his message. Never really saw what was in it, but he was sent off to Etruria.
In his travels through Ilia he collapsed and awoke in a small village. He played with the kids in the village, pretending to be 'evil king Red' whom all the children walloped. Remnants of the bandits scattered by the battle with Marle attacked the village in an attempt to recoup their losses. Elias helped fight off the bandits, but the man who helped him in his time of need wound up getting injured. The family decided to evacuate the village, sure the bandits would return, and they traveled to Edessa. The daughter of the family gave Elias a toy ring telling him to come back and marry her some day. (He's not going to, sorry little girl) After that he took a ship from Ilia to Etruria, as the two countries were still on good terms at the time.
In Etruria he witnessed an assault in a town and he got involved where he met Garnet. Whom he named Fluorite. So Elias and Fluorite traveled together for some time, eventually discovering something called 'the book of scrying' an ancient magical treasure locked away in some ruins in the border between Etruria and Ostia. Elias and Fluorite, alone with a young sacaen woman name Mana (aka Manners) travelled to the ruins. He made quick friends with Mana, and she lent him a pair of white gloves. The same gloves he still wears now. There was also Riza, also known as Lilith, also known as Arum Lily, who arrived. Seeking him specifically. She had met Elias' father and Heath sent her to Elias.
They arrive in the ruins, however there was powerful magic forces at work there that trapped everyone trying to enter in nightmares. Garnet barely managed to fight them off, but Elias was lost to them. So he took the unconscious mage out of the ruins and carried him to Sacae.
In Sacae he spoke with Garnet, talking a bit about his past. Making up dramatic stories about his past that were more fiction then fact, taking every slight injustice against him and blowing it up into full blow abuse. Elias thinking that sympathy was a good way to get Garnet to like him, as he was desperately afraid he was going to just up and leave. Which... he did. Garnet left without telling Elias where he went, and Elias never heard from again. The mage fell into a overblown and overly dramatic depression. He wandered the plains listless, feeling as though he was without purpose. He was being stalked by a horse at this point, also he hates horses. Forgot to mention, long story. Thinks they're evil demons. He was beckoned to a tower by an old associate of his father, an elderly sage, who shared some words of wisdom with Elias. Then he bequeathed to him a white cape, which Elias still has.
Elias decided to return home to talk to his father about Riza, and confront him over the grave injustices he made up in his mind. Along the way he ran into Ralph and Wyatt who joined him on his trip to Ostia, where his father was currently living. They were attacked by monster, but managed to escape. Elias blew up on his parents, yelling at them like a hormonal teenager (which he was kinda), blaming them for everything. They tried to comfort him, but he wasn't having it. He left his parent's in a huff, and decided to explore the ruins of Ostia. By this point the horse that had been following him was outright stalking him.
While in Ostia Wyatt fell down a hole and removed the magma axe, which caused a volcanic eruption that threatened to swallow Ostia in lava and ash. Using the horse Elias managed to ride out of the collapsing ruins along with Ralph, and headed straight into Etruria. Ralph left him shortly after and Elias was alone again, well he had a horse. He called him demonic devil hellspawn, Demon for short. Elias still hated horses, but he was getting over it. He left Etruria quickly.
The next year he sort of drifted from place to place, picking up staves and finding a hidden talent in them he did not know. He fought countless bandits and junk, but didn't do anything particularly noteworthy. He decided to return to the ruins of scrying, and there he met Lumino, a sage with a strange staff. Elias confronted his nightmares again, but this time he won. The nightmares were his fear of being alone, a fear that hadn't quite been solved. Something he is still working on to this day. The inner sanctum of the ruins of scrying revealed there was never any book, but the ruins themselves was the spyglass. Using the ruins he found that Wyatt had been grievously injured by dragonthunder and Elias sought to help him. Drawing upon the magic of the ruins, Lumino teleported them all to Bern. However in the process the ruins of lost all their power, and became nothing more then a desolated set of architecture.
In Bern Lumino realized his staff no longer wished to be with him, instead it longed to belong to Elias, so he bequeathed Matrona upon Elias. Elias could not use the staff even one fourth as well as Lumino, but the staff felt right in his hands. Elias traveled to where Wyatt laid and using the magic of Matrona, he managed to save the man's life. While Wyatt was saved from crippling injuries, he was forever injured. Forced to walk with a limp. Here he met Mana again as well. The three decided to leave Bern and traveled Sacae together. Elias realized these dudes were his friends, and felt happy. Finally letting go of his obsession of being a well known hero across the land, realizing that he didn't really want that anymore. He never really wanted it actually. He just kinda wanted friends.
Of course just as he got friends he left them, but the world was not in a place to just sit on his laurels. He sought out information on monsters, as he's always been interested in them. In his travels of studying monsters he's learned many things, not just about monsters but about magic and the world. He matured much in his travels, but considering how he was before that's like saying he went from a manbaby to a manchild.
He traveled to Santuraz to study monsters, and there he met a group of folks. They travelled to Ostia again, where he met a fellow monster researcher name Mila. Aka Turtle. Then something happened, no one really knows what, but none of them ever spoke of it again. He then traveled for Etruria through Sacae, where he ran into Richter again. Richter and Elias decided to, instead, head to the city of heroes following rumors of Hargus' revival. While in City of Heroes he met Remus, aka Blue and Vincent, aka Headband. Elias coordinated the healers, but in the final battle he was forced to take the battlefield. He traveled to the south to help fight the cyclopes and using his strength staff he imbued many fighters with the strength to take down the monster.
Then Burt transformed into a monstrous being, and then Hargus unleashed several dark spirits upon the land. Nega-Burt tried to absorb the spirits but Elias prevented the devouring of one along with help from Richter. Richter pinned it down and Elias smoked it with countless lightning bolts. Then using his strength staff Elias imbued Richter with incredible strength, which he used to slay Hargus once and for all. Hopefully.
After the battle in Sacae, Elias resumed his plans to go to Etruria. Drawn by some strange desire he could not explain. On the way he collapsed again, where a man named Isaac helped him get back on his feet. The two talked and then some events happened in that village he doesn't wish to talk about. Which fits because no one's ever asked. Then he reached his destination, some ruins in Etruria buzzing with beasts and carrion. Maggots, monsters, and filth filled the area. Elias and a man named Hal retreated into a church where they found a dragon skeleton. Almost as if against his will, Elias approached the skeleton and unleashed the full power of Matrona, the holy staff rebuilding the dead being anew and bringing the dead dragon back to life. Naked and stuff.
After that excitement, Elias headed back to Lycia to continue his monster research, using information he learned from the city of heroes. There he ran into Mila again, and the Lycian Counter Offense, and that's where the story ends.
Also he managed to find his way at the mysterious island off the coast of Elibe, searching the island for clues on the monster mystery. As well as information about magic or about abandoned civilizations that lay there, where he is set to meet a very interesting person.
