(Occurs before Merio and Kelvin arrive into the abandoned house. Between Merio and Kelvin)
"Rain, rain, rain... It is absolutely the worst kind of weather condition to be in." Merio continues grumbling, wondering if the rain would stop. His horse's front legs get stuck in mud, and Merio climbs down, trying to get them out. After five minutes, they continue, and the rain doesn't seem to get any lighter.
"I doubt it'll stop, clouds are dark and they will go down the entire road to Santaruz, I swear."

"Fret not brother. This rain suits your personality quite well. Personally, I think this would be your favorite weather." Kelvin chuckled and gave Merio a joking punch in the arm. "Relax. Just think of all the good times we'll have."

Merio sighs and shakes of the punch. "Brother, why do you say such nonsense? This rain is no good to men on horseback, like us. It will ruin the roads to Santaruz, and we will not be able to meet Sir Rayl. What good will we be, if we cannot re- come to our leader?" Merio sighed... it was not everyday he blundered on a word.
"Besides, we'll most likely be caught by bandits and be stripped of our money, food, horses, and valueables. Think about that, for once."

"Brother, open your eyes. There isn't another bandit camp this far into Lycia. Your pessimism gets really annoying some times. Why can't you be more like Rayl? Brother, your mind is too narrow. Always focusing on what could go wrong. Sometimes I don't understand you. Actually, I rarely understand you."

Merio scoffed, and growled at the thought of Rayl. They had promised to keep their relations with Rayl secret.
"Look who's talking. I'll give you three ways it is possible. One, you can't see bandits. Do you expect bandit's to reveal their hideouts out in the open? No, they hide them, and then attack unwary travelers. Two, you rush into everything. One small sound, and you're caught like a fly stuck to old honey. Three, it is your mind that is too narrow and dull to notice such crutial details... Remember the first day of horseback riding?"
Both of them go back to that memory...
First day, a week after the brothers had gotten horses. Kelvin had gotten on his horse incorrectly, and had fallen off while learning to riding. It had rained the previous night, and there was a mud puddle right where Kelvin landed, and one could see the imprint on the puddle for a full five minutes, before the mud melted back to its original shape...

After Kelvin had fallen his horse, he had calmed it down with a friendly little speech. Merio had scoffed at him, telling him, "It's a stupid animal. It doesn't understand a word you're..." But he didn't get a chance to finish, for his ow horse had galloped up and kicked Merio with it's hind legs, knocking him to the ground.

Merio also remebered that far, and, knowing what Kelvin was thinking, replied. "That. Horse. Started. It... Besides, remeber two weeks from then? We were hunting for rabbits and other small creatures, because father apparently enjoys the taste of them. You find one, but instead of calling me to help you, you run right after it!"
Another memory...
Kelvin spots a rabbit, and gets off his horse. Merio hears the commotion, and rides towards the spot. He comes just in time to see Kelvin going into the brush, running after a small streak, most likely the rabbit. Merio growls, and rides on toward Kelvin. Minutes later, Merio gets off his horse, shocked to see that Kelvin was still running.
"That rabbit... has to... be tired... by... now.... SPLASH!"
Kelvin, not paying attention, had fallen right into pond, while the rabbit looked at him, ears twitching, before running off at the sound of Merio coming...

Merio had come sprinting around the bend, spotting Kelvin in the pond. "Look at you, Kelvin." Kelvin hadn't had a chance to respond, for a fish had leaped out of the water. "Ooo, I got it, I got it!" Kelvin had shouted as he struggle with the fish.

Merio had sighed as Kelvin dived to catch the fish. "Kelvin!" Minutes later, Kelvin emerged once again, fighting the fish, struggling and gasping for breath. "KELVIN! Geez, GET OUT OF THE WATER!" Merio sighed once more, as Kelvin was unable to hear him and had gotten in the water once more as he wrestled the fish. ------------------------
"Kelvin, you fought with that fish for two HOURS. Right after chasing a rabbit! I tried to tell you to get out of the water to fight it, but you couldn't hear me. The idea didn't even get close to your head!"

"Merio, at least I caught it. Just wait till father sees this." Father had been very proud, but mother had been scared out of her mind. It reminded Kelvin of another time they had been working in the stables. They were supposed to be shoveling dung, but Merio had been shining his sword. A fly had landed on his arm and it disgusted him very much.

Merio did not want to touch this creature. Oh, no! What kind of rotten materials had it touched? But he didn't have anything to swat it with. So, very carefully, he got the flat of his blade, and slapped his arm. The creature buzzed away, and Merio was chasing that fly, trying to kill it. He tripped over a piece of wood, and landed in a small pile of dung. That was once out of two times that Merio wasn't extemely cautious... The other time...
------------
The other time, Rayl and his family had come to visit their famlily, and they all had a picnic. They had traveled to the forests north of Caelin to enjoy their meal. Well, the three had wandered to a nearby "stream". Kelvin decided to take a short swim before going home...
Later, Kelvin was flailing in the waters, which happened to be 7 feet. Merio, realizing what had happened, out of instinct and small adoration of his younger brother, dived in to help. The water, however, was too deep, and Merio started to drown as well...
(Rayl feel free to post your side of this story)

OOC: We now present you a third side to the story, plus moar background on our good buddies! It had been the flailing and shouts of his cousins that had alerted Rayl, who had wandered from the adults to explore the woods. At first he thought he should run back to the parents, but there was no time, so he continued forward. Besides: he could be a great hero like the knights mother always told him about from that storybook! Having removed his boots and shirt, he had then dived into the water, making his way through the water. His longer time working than his cousins was paying off, as he first wrapped an arm around Kelvin, and began pulling him to the side of the river, which was pulling them down stream slowly. Once that cousin was safe, he dove back in to the water, scrapping his arm on a rock ( for he was still semi reckless back then...alright maybe a BIT more reckless...) and paddled out for Merio... ...and soon the three were laying out on the side of the river, wet and cold, gasping for air. Despite it though he was laughing slightly between coughs," Y-you guys...*gasp* one day you *gasp* are going to g- *gasp get yourselves killed one day!" around this time their parents came running up all worried, but Rayl wasn't too focused on this: he was a hero! He just saved his cousin's lives! He so could be a knight like that Barigan guy in that story! ... -end Rayl's involvement in this support-

Kelvin rolled his eyes as Merio recounted the event at the river. When he finished, he started to scold Kelvin. "Kelvin, you never think about what could happen. You need to figure all possible ends of a situation before you run in!" Kelvin rolled his eyes, obviously annoyed by Merio's nagging. "Oh please brother, thinking is your answer to evrything. Where am I going to get in life by just thinking?"

Merio, after recalling all those events simumultaniously with his brother, started to scold Kelvin, only to get another question from Kelvin.
"Kelvin, by thinking over all possible outcomes, I can prepare myself to withstand all possible end results. Besides, what about you? What will I get if I rush through every situation without thinking ahead? I'd be DEAD!"

"Brother, you fail to see. I live my life in the moment, rushing into everything and enjoyed every last minute of it. And look at me! Not only am I alive, but I'm also intelligent and I have had a damn good time too."
