A fresh battle... and a lost squire

[Silvine Knightwood]

Silvine, or 'Bluedoom', as he was called, was sent on a recruit mission. He was to drive away a few bandits in a village near castle Pherae. This village was also near a forest. The bandits were not big time bandits,just some novices who wanted to get money and had no other hoice. Still,their deeds were wrong,and they had to be punished. Bluedoom's instructor decided to take his recruits to the battlefield so that they might get a bit experienced in battle.(Only top-class recruits could go,because the rest were still struggling to wield the lance)

The marched on to the village. The road to it was a straight forward one,and it wouldnt take more than 30 minutes to get there. Silvine was full of pep. His first battle! He couldnt wait to battle! He wanted to be stronger and prove his capabilities,and now was the chance!

As they marched,Silvine recollected some of his past. His days where his parents used to tell him about chivalry........

Bluedoom's father: Son,I want you to be a great knight like me! Or maybe even greater than me! I want you to be the greatest knight of Lycia! Maybe even Elibe!

Bluedoom: Why thank you father! I would love to be a great knight like you! Although I can never be better than you.

Father: Of course you will! I will make sure I see you as a greater knight than me. You dont know how proud I'd feel,Silvine.

Bluedoom: But father,I dont think I'll be good. How's squire training? Is it really nasty? I dont think i'd be ready for it,I dont even know how to wield a lance.

Father: Silvine! Do not make me feel bad like this! Come,as a punishment, I will now teach you how to wield a lance effectively!

Bluedoom: Why thank you father! But I'm not ready. Father wait..wait.... wait!!!!!










2 years ago....

A funeral is going on at Silvine's house. Apparently his mother died of a really bad illness. Silvine is in tears,and his father is shaken.

Bluedoom: MOTHER!! HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME? I CANT STAY ALONE! I .. I.... I'M NOT SURE I CAN BE BRAVE LIKE FATHER,OR AS LOVING AND CARING AS YOU!

Father: Silvine,you're not alone,you've got me. We will live to become stronger and help more people. We shall show our loyalty Silvine.

Bluedoom: NOOOO!!! I FEEL WEAK! I CANT ACCEPT THIS DEATH!!!

Father: Silvine... please. Stop crying. You know you're going to affect your loved ones more. The dead wont be affected.

Bluedoom: All this... I never really felt mother's value. But now.....

Father: Silvine.......











Few days after Silvine becomes a squire:

Instructor: All recruits! Pick up your lances and try a forward thrust.

Silvine was able to do this pretty easily. After his mother died,his father trained him even harder than ever before,to become stronger and a true knight. He practiced as hard as he could. His father also taught him how to take care of the steed,as he showed by taking care of his horse. Silvine was now reaping rewards,as he was much ahead of his fellow recruits. The instructor took notice of Silvine and asked him: "Boy,what is your father's name?"

Bluedoom: His name is Sylvester,sir.

Instructor: What? YOU ARE HIS SON?? No wonder you have a great talent! But unfortunately I have bad news for you boy.

Bluedoom: What happened sir?

Instructor: Your father,on a scouting mission,disappeared so suddenly. We have been trying to make attempts to find your father,but they are in vain. I'm sorry boy. I heard your mother died a few years ago. I guess this means you're on orphan now.

These words struck Silvine so hard,he was silent for several moment. He then replied,"I see,sir. Well I will try my very best to be one ofPherae's finest knights,in their name and for the honor of Pherae!

Saying so,Silvine headed off for more training. He felt really sad,but he couldnt even shed tears. Months under his father's strict training toughened him not only physically,but also mentally. The instructor said"He sure is his father's son"



Present Day:

The Instructor said,"Ok recruits! We've reached the village,I shall now send a few scouts to find out the strength of the bandits and their supplies."

Bluedoom knew he was a knight in training,and the one recognized with most potential. He would definetly try to use this potential in the best way possible.

The instructor came back after about half an hour and gave his report.

"Our scouts tell us that this badit gang just started a month ago,so its fairly weak and low on supplies. This will be the best training you laddies will get,so be more enthusiastic!"

The squires and recruits cheered on.

"Ok,here's the report:

Lv 2 journeyman
Lv 3 Novice
Lv 7 pupil wielding anima magic'
Lv 5 journeyman
Lv 2 brigand
Lv 1 mercenary

This group is a fairly weak group,and with me protecting you fellows,you can be rest assured this mission will go smoothly."

"Ok,we shall move i 15 min,all recruits get ready with your weapons and warm -ups"

Bluedoom decided to do a few spear thrusts. He went to a nearby tree and started attacking it with his spear. a few lunge and pierce moves and they were good. It left a mark on the tree.

Nice.

Then he decided to get his wyvern ready. He named it Aragog when he first got it,and they've been best friends since that fateful day when he forced the wyvern in submission.

He held its reigns and then ordered it to fly up. The wyvern was almost near its adolescent knid of stage where it would have tougher scales and better flght( meaning upon promotion it reaches this tage,and on second tier it becomes mature)

A few movements inthe air,a charging atack,and another dodging movements,and finally both Aragog and Bluedoom seemed ready for the battle.

"Ok squires and recruits! Assemble! We shall charge at their base now!"

Bluedoom was pumped up for this battle. He was going to give it his all.

They finaly reached the nrigand camp. What they saw was a bit dull. It was just a small hut,but they organised their work properly. And then they could see a journeyman coming out of his hut.

"And now we wait untill the right time for a surprise attack."

But Bluedoom couldnt wait. The anticipation had caught him. He couldnt control this excitement. He suddenly took the Aragog's reigns and then slolwy,but gradually,he charged at the journeyman,and before he knew what was coming,Bluedoom pierced his abdomen with his spear. He actually killed someone!

"BLUEDOOM! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING??? I TOLD YOU TO WAIT,NOT CHARGE!! COME BACK HERE!"

But bluedoom froze. He felt horrible to have killed someone. He could not stand seeing blodding ooze out of the young man's abdomen.

And soon the others came out and noticed a qyvern squire soaring above them.

The instructor said," Ok kids,I think its time we taught these bad boys a lesson. Try to pretect Bluedoom at all costs."

And the battle resumed. The recruits handled the other journey man very well,a perfect teamwork battle. The instructor did damage but not a lot to allow his students to do the finishin blows. On the other hand,bluedoom took down the mercenary along with his teammate squire(horse) in a good fashion.

The only one left was the brigand. He was a level above the other members. Many of the recruits and squires tried their luck to take him down,but with one swing of the axe they ended up unconcious,usually banging their heads to a tree.

Only two of the newbies were left. Bluedoom,and his rival, Kevin,a recruit of great skill. But eve Kevin looked like he was going to be knocked out. And just when the bandit was going to di a final swing on kevin,Bluedoom swooped down and stabbed the brigand with his lance. The brigand screamed in pain and Bluedoom charged on,dragging te brigand accross the muddy ground. The brigand was knocked out.

The instructor decided to congratulate bluedoom. He said,"Your skill was really good bluedoom. I think you are the best of the recruits!"

Kevin turned back and frowned. Bluedoom was delighted and showed thumbs up to his teacher.

"Bluedoom,I am thinking of making you a full-fledged -"

But suddenly an arrow was fired from no where and it hit bluedoom's wyvern on its rear. While it did not sustain much damage,it lost its balance,and it soared downwards,into the forest,where both were not seen.

"BLUEDOOM! BLUEDOOM! SILVINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But it was no use. They were far away now.

After 2 hours:

Bluedoom woke up to see his surroundings. They were in a forest,left stranded,and he would have to find his way out of these woods. His wyvern too fellt tired after that arrow hit him near his leg. It wasnt hurt much,but tht crash landing really took a lot of its energy. But bluedoom could not afford to stay in the same place any longer,he had no food or any camping materials. If he stayed in the forest any longer,unless he found some good animal,he and his wyvern would starve.

He decided to let it walk by his side rather than flying on it since that would make it even more weak and that would put both of them in a vulnerable situation.

They walked along for hours and hours..... he could not make out how much time passed.

It felt like eternity to him.

He started to remember what his mother used to tell him about.

About 500 five hundred years ago,there were rumors that dragons and humans lived together in peace and harmony. Each understood the other. The dragons could take the form of humans and place their energies in stones.

Could such a legend be actually true? Did dragons really exist? Bluedoom started to ponder over this rumor. What if he discovered such a place? He would be known world wide!

And other such thoughts came to his mind......

Bluedoom saw that it was getting dark. It was about time to take to the skies. Risking it,he ordered Aragog to fly,knowing that if the hourney would take over an hour and they didnt reach anywhere,it would most likely be a bad thing.

He saw the elegant moon and how the forest looked under the beautiful moonlight. He loved to observe and appreciate nature's eauty.

And then he saw it. A small village was just north of here. It was pretty close,and they could manage to get rest if they headed there.

So he was flying over there.

He arrived at town and after asking for a place to keep aragog(pretty much the only wyvern there),he left it in the safe place,a shed near the in.

Inside the inn,he asked the bartender how much a room would cost. After hearing the amount 300 gold, and when Bluedoom did not want to get a room for himself,he asked the bartender if there were some nice people to see or if there was a place to refresh. He told him he was a squire wanting a bit of refreshment before tending back to errands.

The bartender said,"I reccomend Annete's place, she's the best dancer around. I've heard people say her dances are refreshing,and let me tell you,I've witnessed this as well. She's a real beauty. Maybe you can ask her out. "

Bludoome blushed wildly. "Thanks sir. I appreciate it."

He was off to her house.
