It had been three days since he left that fort. That was a stupid experience for him to get caught and imprisoned in Etruria fort. Rein touch his chest and felt a sharp pain as his hand brushed his wound, it seemed his wound wasn't completely healed yet. The myrmidon sat on the ground, looking at the campfire which kept his body warm. The plain was cold in night, especially because he was alone here. He stole a tent and a food from the rebel's supply wagon which enough for two weeks.
Rein lay on the grasses and looked at the stars. He took a necklace and put it in front of his eyes, staring at the silver necklace with sad eyes. This necklace was his only treasure. He remember her mother, her foster mother, gave him this necklace as a birthday present. Well, he didn't have a real birthday so the people in his tribe use the date when they found him in the plain. They treated him like a real family, especially Kayla who looked at him like her real son, and Mana, his foster sister. He chuckled as he remembered when they always argued about who was older between them.

Rein heard a growl not far from his place. The myrmidon got up from his dream and stood up with sword unsheathed. Nothing could be seen in the dark night, but the growl came closer and closer. Walking slowly, he looked for the beast. Maybe it was a wolf, he knew from its growl. His eyes looked around and his grip tightened, wolves was not an easy opponent in a open plain.
Then his eyes locked to a lying figure on the grasses, a wounded wolf with an arrow pierced on its side. But its still could stare at Rein with a pair of bloodlust eyes, Rein answered with a scary glare, few second passed until the wolf lowered its head. Rein knew how to communicate with animal by eyes contact, but he didn't know why. He sheathed his sword and carried the wolf back to near the fire then pulled the arrow and used a vulnerary. The wolf surprisingly didn't move and let the myrmidon to tend its wound.
"It must do it." Rein patted its head. The wolf looked at his eyes again and licked his cheek. The myrmidon chuckled as he stood up and started to walk into his tent. "You can sleep outside or inside." He turned to the wolf once before lay on a mat and closed his eyes.

Rein woke up early, he was walking alone in the plain now. Actually he wasn't alone, the injured wolf from yesterday had been following him since this morning. He didn't mind though, having a companion wasn't a bad idea. Carrying a sack on his back, Rein walked to the South to the mountain in Sacae-Bern border.
He got an interesting information about a bandit group who attacked his village, they had a base here if the information was correct. Rein didn't know who the culprit behind the slaughter of his tribesmen but this group was known for their attacks to Sacaen tribes for the last five months. The myrmidon suspected them as the one who destroyed his village and kidnapped his sister. If that was true, he would kill all their members.
Two days passed...
Rein stood in front of a bar, he opened the door slowly and went inside. The people inside the bar didn't look like commoner, they were more look like mercenaries, assassins, bandits, soldiers, or thieves. They stared to the newcomer as he moved to the counter. "I want a glass of beer. Quick." Then he leaned on the counter, watching everyone in bar. Two people approached him and one of them, a man with a scar on his right eyes, gave him a friendly tap on his shoulder. "A new guy? Or you are just a guest. I believe you are the first, I can tell from your eyes, Sacaen." Rein removed his hand from his shoulder and said, "Yeah, I am a Sacaen. So? What is your problem?" Few people stood up and drew their weapons but that man raised his hand, they looked at each other before sat on their seats again. "I like Sacaen, strong willed, great pride, and good swordman in general. Which make them a good fighter, or a mercenary."
Rein stared at that man. "Say, did you ever attack Sacaen village in the east, near Bulgar, and kill all the villagers?" He gulped his beer as he spoke. That words made the atmosphere changed, the people began to change their attention to him instead of their beers or cards. That man with scar smirked and spoke with a scary expression. "That isn't your problem, lad. I give you one chance to leave this bar or we will make you leave."
Rein placed his glass on the counter and turned to leave the bar. "I take that as a yes." He left the bar and walked down the mountain path.
Inside the bar... "Why do he know about that? Is he a survivor?"
"No way, we killed all the men and left only few women."
"Anyway, we can't let him. You there! Go and kill him. Quick, before he leave the mountain."
Nodding to their boss, those three left the bar to kill the Sacaen swordman.

Rein was sitting on tree branch when the three bandits ran down the mountain path. The swordman had predicted that they would go after him. Drawing his sword, he waited for a right moment for a surprise attack.
Rein jumped down as soon as one of the bandits walked right below the tree branch, stabbing him on his back and killing him. The other two surprised and didn't have a chance to use their axe as he dashed forward and gave a strong thrust into the abdomen, killing one of them instantly when the other one leaped back and drew his hand axe.
"Ho-How dare you, ***!!!" The angry bandit roared and threw his hand axe. Rein dodged it to the side and quickly slashed forward, but this time the bandit was more prepared and blocked his attack with a steel axe. Using his superior strength, he pushed the myrmydon away.
Both of them swung their weapons at the same time, their weapons clashed once again. Then the bandit got a clever idea, he kicked the dirt into Rein's eyes, blinding him for a second. "Uuh." The myrmidon leaped back as his hand brushed his eyes to clean the dirt from his eyes. "Die." The bandit didn't miss the chance and swung his axe vertically. But suddenly a wolf jumped and bit his arm, his aim missed due the pain on his arm, and his axe only hit the ground.
Now, the situation was reversed. Rein stood up in front of the bandit, raising his sword above his head. "Stop it!!!" The bandit was begging for his live, but the myrmidon heart was filled with revenge and hatred, he had no place for mercy. "Did you give my tribe your mercy back then?" Then the bandit lost his live.
Rein patted the wolf's head. "Good, Shamir. Now, we will go for another fight."

The smoke rose into the sky, the bar was burned and fire danced like a death goddess, killing the bandits one by one. They tried to run from the back door but Rein had locked the door from outside with iron chain. Their only chance to escape before they got burned was the front entrance, but a myrmidon was waiting them outside. Everyone who got out from the door was killed with his a sharp sword, the door was narrow so they could only get out one by one.
Actually, Rein was exhausted, he overestimated his own ability. After fought and killed these many bandits, her arms started to lose its strength to keep holding a sword. Well, he only needed to wait few more minutes, most of them was already burned inside the bar.
Another one charged towards him, Rein dodged his axe and stabbed him in his chest. It was really a dangerous plan, he should kill everyone in one blow as soon as they got out through the door or he would be surrounded and lose his chance to win. The key was to make sure no one come out alive.
"Quick! It is hot inside!"
"What take you so long only to kill one Sacaen?"
The bandits yelled to each other, but their voice was engulfed by the flame.
Few minutes later...
Rein collapsed onto his knees, he tried to grasp his breath. His revenge was done, but somehow he felt empty. "I-I did it. But..."

Rein looked at the burned tavern, he did it, he made them pay for what they had done to his village. But why did he feel so empty? After he got his revenge, why did he feel like losing a purpose to live? The flame was dancing, burning whoever left inside. The swordman heard no scream or voice. Who would? He averted his gaze towards few dead bodies near the exit, how could he didn't feel anything? They were bandits, they were deserved it. He was trying to make a good reason for himself, but still, he felt something wrong with what he had just done. "Am I...satisfied?" He asked to himself, and he found no answer. Shamir growled and looked at him, the wolf knew that his master was fighting with his own feeling. The swordman could see sympathy in his wolf's red eyes and gave him a pat on his head. He looked up once again and saw the fire began to fade away. "Lets not think about that anymore?" The swordman lifted his bag and began to walk without trying to look back. At least he did what he had planned to do, but he didn't really know what to do next? He knew that the women was sold to a kind of slave merchant in Lycia after forcing a bandit to speak, but just that. They always met in plain so the bandits didn't know where exactly the merchant took them. "Well, I think I will head to Lycia. Maybe I still can save them. I just have to find some clues, do you come with me, Shamir?" The wolf growled when his name was called by Rein. With that, the swordman started his long trip towards the place he had never visited before. "Please bless me just for this time, Father Sky and Mother Earth. I must find them, and her." The End
