Selibas walked the plains in front of the others. He had his hand on his blade. He was late. He was supposed to have been to his tribe in about twenty days. It had been twenty five days. He paused only to practice kicking his sheath.
He knew where his tribe would be, next to the rock formations about an hour down the river. The always followed the river and hunted the animals along it. Selibas didn't know how he would win this fight and acheive his birthright, but in a few hours he would have to.

Val just kinda stood there, wordlessly next to the green haired boy. He didn't really have much to say, but he had said he's accompany him. And, to be quite honest, there was no reason for him to not. It wasn't like Val had anywhere to go, or had any desire to involve his self in this war everyone else seemed to be jumping into. So here he was, with some young boy he didn't really know all that well, and visiting his home.
This sounded like the beginning of some wacky shenanigans.

Selibas decided it would be a good time to tell Valcrist some of the strange or at least out of context customs of his clan. So he stopped and said to the boy, "So there are a few things you might need to know."
"My clan doesn't like me very much. So when we get there they might not like you either. Also my other cousin is a large man who particularly doesn't like foreigners. He will probably challenge you at the first chance my cousin gives him. But even if you're with me you still have a right to say no if you want."

"Ch-challenge? You mean like fight? He really hates foreigners that much?" Val trailed off, worried at the proposition. He could defend his self, sure, but he wasn't particularly adept at fighting. And being beaten senseless did not sound like a particularly fun activity, that is assuming, of course, the man wouldn't just outright Kill Val for being for outsidery.
He shook his head violently, then regained his train of thought. "I'll keep that in mind. But why don't they like you? You do something bad?" He asked, innocently enough. He seemed like an okay enough boy, what could he have done?

"I'm not very well liked by my tribe because I was born. See my father... is a Bern wyvern rider. My mother is the sister of the the clan chief. She was kidnapped as a child by a few Etrurian mages. She learned magic and eventually escaped. When she got back the tribe treasured her and protected her more then anyone ellse. She eventually met my father as his troupe came to get a drink from the river the same time she did. She left with him. The chief had told her to never trust a foreigner, he told his sons this which is why the one has a problem with foreigners. So her leavng hurt the whole tribe as she directly defied the chief and her brother. And when she brought me back only to leave to find my father again, I wasn't accepted. And I had to fend for myself for thirteen years until my mentor Roger taught me the blade and my history." Selibas caught his breath after talking for sometime.

"That..." Val began but didn't really know what to say. "Is very complicated, I'm sorry to hear all that." He was beginning to appreciate that his backstory was quite dull, as there was probably a lot of people out there in the world who would kill to have a past like his. It wasn't a perfect life, but it was much better then many get. Especially in times like this, when everyones too busy killing each other to sit back and think just how much their actions affect the lives of another. That soldier you kill today may be leaving a child fatherless, and stuck into an orphanage. That fifty gold you spend on bread may just be enough for the baker to make his payment and keep their bakery for another month.
It was really frightening, when he thought about it. Maybe it shouldn't be his place to come with Selibas. "If they don't like outsiders, it might be for the best that I stay behind." Val muttered darkly. "I don't want any more trouble to come on to you just because I'm there."

Selibas would be disapointed to go alone but he wouldn't stop the other guy. So he said, "Well if I challenge my cousin, no one is allowed to duel until we have. And if I win, and I intend to, I can deny his right to challenge you, change the opinion of the tribe, or make you a full fledged member if I wanted to. But if you want to leave I won't stop you."

"No no no, you misunderstand." Val backed up a bit and brought his hands up, an uneasy but embarrassed smile on his face. "It's not that I want to leave. I- it's just don't want to cause unnecessary trouble." He tried to play it off, he could of probably ended there but his mouth kept moving. "I don't want anyone to get hurt or anything to go wrong just because I'm with you. I mean, I'm just usually so unworthy of note. It's not like I actively dislike coming with you or anything. I mean it's not like I'm doing anything better... N-not that I'm implying I'm just coming because I'm bored! I mean, well, I..."
He brought his hand to his brow and sighed heavily. "I'm sorry. Let me try again. If my presence will cause a problem, it would be best for me to not come. Right? I don't like trouble, and I especially don't like causing it." He grumbled. Bringing his hand away, he just looked at Selibas. He felt unnecessarily tall at the moment. "If you want me to come, I'll come. Though if this is something best done by yourself, then I can wait here or something until you're done.... If you want to continue traveling with me, that is. If not, we can part ways here. " Did Valcrist sound pathetic? He felt like he sounded pathetic.

Selibas nodded. He had neglected to mention the fact that three other foreigners were going to make an appearance as well. He should probably mention the fact that everyone in his tribe loved his teacher Chlane but the chief and his brother.
So he said, "Oh well I apologize, you won't be the first or only foreigner there. My teahcer Chlane and our companions will be there as well. You won't cause any trouble that hasn't happened." Selibas didn't want to go alone by tommorow.

"Oh... a-alright. I suppose." He smiled, but he still felt uneasy. "I guess I didn't come all this way to just leave you alone now." He tried laugh, all in good nature, but it sounded forced, wrong. "So, um, which way do we go?" He would come, but he probably would be afraid. He didn't know this tribe, and if it was as isolationist as Selibas said, he could just tell that everyone will be staring at the two of them. Mostly Selibas, if the novice was to be believed, but Val wouldn't be spared of the awkwardness. That would be too kind, of course.
"I'm more then happy to come along, just, erm, lead the way." He calmed his self down a bit after a deep breath or so. It felt weird, he was so used to either being alone or in a giant group. This small, personal group felt awkward. Especially since Selibas wasn't Chelsea... That sounded wrong. He smiled a bit easier, feeling silly.

Synkkis followed in behind a little way off. He got a little distracted. He had never left his home country before, so this was an alien experience. No snow. No bitter cold. He also swore he saw a couple animals just grazing and not being hunted. Also, the lack of trees and mountains was disturbing.
"Hold fast. Did someone speak of a duel? Ehm... I am not the fighting type." He reached into his napsack and pulled out a flask of water. "Oh... Does anyone else desire a drink? It is much more arid than I thought it would be. The plains are kind of... empty."

Val was lucky to still be clothed after the way he just jumped. "Egahiyehg." Gibberish blurted from his mouth. After a second a silence he let his raised leg down as he stared blankly ahead. "D-don't... do that!" It was hard to tell if he was mad or if he was just embarrassed he got spooked so easily, but knowing Val it was definitely the latter. He looked at the stranger who appeared to have appeared out of nowhere strangely. He was a very... feminine looking man. In face if it hadn't been for his voice, he may of mistaken the white haired youth as a young woman. He looked older then Val, and definitely older then Selibas.
Curiously Val took a step forward with an awkward smile. "Erm... sorry about that." You'd think with it's lack of cover that sneaking around would be very hard to do, but if anything that just made the shock worse. "...So... Who are you? I'm Valcrist."

The purple robed foreigner jumped back, also in shock. A very uneasy smile crossed Synkkis' face as he didn't really mean to scare the youngin' in front of him. He did have that tendency of being eerily quite. He'd do it accidentally to his mother all the time, who would be scared half to death. In order to preserve her nerves, she made him announce his presence before he would enter the room he knew she was in.
The white haired adventurer put his hands up in front of him, trying to not intend any harm. "Greetings! Eh, my deep regards towards your health. I did not mean to give you the heebie jeebies. I have been following you natives for quite a while... I perceived you would have witnessed me by now."
He had spilt a little bit of his water on his hand from the jump, which he wiped away. He held his flask up once again, this time a little more cautiously and still with an awkward smile. "I am Synkkis Kyyneltya and I presume that you most likely do not wish for a portion any longer - if so before?"

He gave an uneasy, if not slightly skeptical smile. He didn't seem like a vicious marauding bandit who wanted nothing but to smash Val's face in repeatedly with his axe and taking all he knows and loves away to sell for criminally low amounts of gold, but then again they're tricky like that. He laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head as the man spoke. "Erm... I'm not really a native. No, I'm Nabatan. You know, the desert place? I... I guess I'm not making a good case for myself, seeing as I'm wearing Sacaen clothing..." This is the fifth or so time he's been mistaken for Sacaen. Is he really that plainsman-y?
"Never mind, it doesn't matter. I'm fine, by the way. Just... Just a little shock to the ole ticker, you know." He sighed and awkwardly dropped his arm, his hand resting on the hilt of his blade. Out of habit rather then the desire to draw it. "You don't have to worry I... I'm well hydrated, yes." He looked over to Selibas, wondering if he'd noticed this man before. If so then why the heck didn't he say something, gah.

OoC: I hope no one minds me hopping in. Synkkis requested I jump in and my solo thread is pretty much going nowhere.
IC: Tirion stood around trying to make sense of his location. He had been walking along the road with a very sparsely detailed leather map for some time now. It was handy in case it got wet, which it had along with the rest of Tirion and his things, but it was no use when it came to finding one's location. Traces of his hangover still lingering on, Tirion decided to take a seat on a nearby hill.
Mere minutes passed before he was able to hear talking in the distance. As they got closer, Tirion recognized one of the accents as similar to the man whom he purchased his map from. Firguring he could get some directions, he ran up to the trio. Tirion was surprised to find out that they were quite young. Too young to properly hold a blade, he wagered, yet two of them carried swords with them. Steadying Harflgar in it's scabbard and adjusting his cloak, he called out to them.
"Ae! Ye three wouldn't happen ta know where I could find me a better map, would ye? Y'see, I got meself a bad deal on this one." he produced his leather map, "If'n ye cannae do that, at least let me know where I could find a tribe 'round here. I got a message fer any o' them."
Tirion scratched at his beard as he wondered if any of these young men could understand him. The merchant he got the map from sure had trouble making out what he was talking about.
