Name: Amelinde Forss
Class: Pegasus Knight --> Seraph Knight
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Red-orange
Age: 22 (Birthday unknown, 1272)
Appearance: Amelinde is somewhat tall and very graceful in appearance, being about 6 feet in height and somewhere around 130 lbs. Her blond hair flows down past her shoulders and a little ways down her back, but she often wears it up in a ponytail because it gets in her way otherwise, she says. In front, her bangs naturally fall down over her fiery eyes to her nose, but she wears a diamond-patterned headband to keep it from doing that and obscuring her vision. She has a cute, childlike face with a delicate chin, but it is usually twisted into a piercing, almost critical scowl as she analyzes her surroundings.
Clothes: When prepared for battle, she wears coral colored light armor over her chest, along with similar armor about the knees. But under that, she wears a simple-but-snappy high-collared orange military-style jacket and plain white trousers. Her boots match the color of her jacket and come up past her knees. Upon closer inspection, one might notice a small locket tucked under her collar so as to be partially hidden.
Mount: Amelinde rides a snow white female Pegasi, who she affectionately calls Alcyone. Together they form the duo known as The Hurricane. The two have a remarkably close relationship for a human and a Pegasus, and Amelinde considers Alcyone to be her closest consistent friend. Alcyone is a little small for a Pegasi, having a wingspan of around sixteen feet, but she makes up for it by being incredibly responsive to Amelinde's commands, resulting in a speed-over-power formula (which is, of course, typical of Pegasus Knights anyways). Alcyone is lightly armored in plates the same color as Amelinde's.
Born in: Etruria
Personality: Amelinde is rash and impatient, and can be fairly disrespectful, especially to those in authority. She makes good friends with those of the opposite nature, finding that they are perfect for complaining to and occasionally tweaking into joining her in her escapades against their better judgment. Surprisingly, she doesn't get along with her own type, finding them to be bitter rivals or altogether disagreeable. She is a quick thinker and has been well trained to make rapid decisions in battle. She is not incredibly sensitive to the needs of others, even though she loves her friends with a fiery passion. She doesn't take kindly to being told what to do, and doesn't handle formal occasions very well. She doesn't flaunt her nobility, instead preferring to leave it unmentioned unless necessary. She is very confident, often times cocky, but smart enough not to let that impair her judjment - usually. Despite all this feistyness and brittle appearance, she can be graceful and friendly when she really wants to be (which isn't often), and is very persistent when it comes to helping a friend or fulfilling a goal. She's good to have around if you're on her good side, and a thorn in your side if you're not.
Story: Amelinde was born in Etruria to a noble house, House Lund, that was about to become shrouded in scandal on account of charges of treason. Without her husband's knowledge or consent, Amelinde's mother, who was of Ilian birth, left the child hidden in the back of the carriage of a wealthy Ilian noble with a note begging that either she be accepted into the noble house or that a suitable family be found for her. Her hope was to provide Amelinde with a life free of the horrible shame of being raised by a pair of traitors or being shuffled off to an orphanage, and she remembered fondly her days in the land of frozen ice, knowing that a childhood there would force Amelinde to be self-sufficient and prepare her for any challenges in life. Amelinde was not discovered until the carriage had already crossed the Ilian border, and the noble, a knight by the name of Teimhald, decided to take her with him, giving her the name of Amelinde, a lady of surpassing beauty and grace who had lived in Ilia many years ago and become the subject of many Ilian songs.
So Amelinde was raised to believe she was the daughter of Teimhald and his wife, Lialun. Her childhood was full of pleasantry and comfort, for her adopted father was quite wealthy, but for Amelinde, the life of a noble daughter was somewhat lacking. Being a somewhat rash and reckless girl, she frequently escaped from the manse seeking out adventure, something which caused Teimhald much distress. To try to channel this reckless energy, Teimhald sent her at the age of fifteen to be trained as a Pegasus Knight, under the command of a close personal friend, Syviana of the 44th Wing, the unit known as the Stormspears. Amelinde took to her training with an intense fervor, and became close friends with both Syviana and another new recruit by the name of Cassidora. The Stormspears got work fairly often, but because both Amelinde and Cassidora were new, they were told to stay back during the fighting lest they get hurt or killed. This aggravated Amelinde, who, being rash and impertenent, convinced the shier, more withdrawn Casssidora to join her and head off by themselves one night while the group was resting just before encountering their next target, with the intent of proving their worth by killing off a few enemies on their own. As could be expected, the attempt was a disaster; the two were separated and Amelinde was forced to flee. When she returned to camp, she was badly injured, and there was no sign of Cassidora. It was unknown whether she had been killed, captured, or had gotten lost somewhere and was unable to find her way back to the group. Syviana was furious at Amelinde and expelled her from the Wing. The Wing Leader had intended to confiscate Amelinde's Pegasus, Alcyone, from her, but the loyal mare had taken a strong liking to her rider and refused to heed the orders of anyone else, so Syviana decided not to separate the pair. Amelinde was 16 at this time.
Amelinde, angry at being dismissed but angrier at herself for losing Cassidora, determined she wouldn't take any more of this frilly nobility thing or this being-ordered-around tripe and set off by herself with the intention of heading to Bern, only making a quick stop back up North at home to tell her parents she was quitting the Wing and leaving to find adventure on her own. This distressed Lialun and saddened Teimhald, but they knew they could not hold her back. Before Amelinde left, her adopted father gave her a locket with an inscription in it saying "In the heart of darkest storm, the fire within will keep you warm." He revealed to her the circumstances of her adoption into House Forss and told her that the locket had been around her neck when she was found. It shocked Amelinde to learn she was not Ilian but Etrurian (and therefore, to her knowledge, possibly not of noble birth, though she didn't care as much about that), and she decided to head Southwestward to Etruria instead of due South to Bern, with a new hope of learning more about her past. She kept the surname of Forss, however, because she still strongly identified herself as Ilian. She also hoped she would be able to find out what had happened to Cassidora, stopping here and there throughout Ilia searching for news, but finding none.
This being two years into the war with Hargus, she was able to find some work enlisting in various armies from time to time, but she mostly spent the next few years in Etruria or Southern Ilia trying to find news of her true parents or of Cassidora. Occasionally she stopped back at House Forss to check in with Teimhald and Lialun, finding that any bitterness towards them had dissolved over time. By the time the war was over, she was nineteen years old and still had few answers. Because she had no idea who her parents were, she had a hard time learning anything about them. But she had heard some sparse, somewhat contradictory rumors of a noble house that had abandoned a daughter just before collapsing under charges of treachery and fading away into obscurity. She knew no more than that, but she chose to believe that they were her parents and that they were innocent of their charges but had escaped from Etruria to live as refugees in either Lycia or Bern. So she hopes to traverse the entire continent in search of her long-lost parents. As for Cassidora, she still searches for her too.
---
In the past three years, Amelinde has continued to travel the continent in search of her parents and her friend, though she has not been able to find either of them. She spent some time in Etruria tracking down information about her parents and was able to determine fairly confidently that they were Kamiel and Tarcia Lund, though their whereabouts are unknown. She has determined that they are likely not in Etruria anymore, and that is where the trail ends. As for Cassidora, no new news from her either; she never returned to the 44th Wing.
Disheartened but determined, Amelinde continues to believe she will find both Cassidora and her parents. In the meantime she has continued to have adventures as a wing for hire. When not on the road, she spends her time with her adopted parents in Ilia.
